The food the hotel and the beach was fantastic We stayed there for two weeks in September and it was an amazing experience HOWEVER there is a water sport attendant at the beach called Ryan who is quite rude. He came up to us and asked for a hug and as a woman I don’t hug people I don’t meet as it makes me uncomfortable I prefer to shake hands . He told my boyfriend I was rude while I was standing there On a separate occasion we came to the beach club and he approached me and asked how I was-this is a week after we checked out and didn’t realize we had a fairmont towel from the apartment we were now staying at. He snatched the towel from me and my boyfriend and said it was not ours and to leave it here. I love the hotel and food and location- but my experience with Ryan has been unpleasant on multiple occasions and as a frequent visitor to this island I will be sure not to attend the beach bar any longer

A complete luxury experience. Service is unmatched, room attendants check in on mornings and at night to make sure your room is tidy and you have some drinking water / bar restock. Everyone is pleasant and polite. In room dining is a fantastic service if you want to enjoy dinner on your own private balcony. The shrimp linguine is amazing. The grounds are beautiful and water sports are available. A luxury oceanfront room is highly recommended.

The rooms are very good, although the bathrooms need updating. Beware of the 'resident artist' at the hotel, we asked for a pet portrait told him we wanted a portrait picture and sent him a photo of our dog, he promised to send us updates of the painting, instead he just messaged a day later demanding payment (we had paid a deposit) and the picture looked nothing like our dog, the painting was landscape and he got cross when we told him it wasn't what we asked for. Ended up being forced into paying him when his temper turned. The hotel shouldn't endorse such a volatile person who failed to deliver on the job in hand. Breakfast was ok but not great, the smoothies by the beach bar were very good though. Also they are very mean with water, in that heat you should be supplying more than one bottle in a room at night and giving it out on the beach. House keeping was also very late (not done by 4pm) on a couple of occasions despite phoning reception and asking them to do it before 2pm.

This is the first hotel/resort built on this stretch of beach, but it's a beautiful resort. The staff is amazing and so thoughtful. This is definitely one of my top resorts I have been to.

Beautiful hotel. Best part is that rooms here are right on the beach!!! Did not find that at most other hotels in Barbados. Staff is extremely friendly. Food delicious. Drinks were very tasty!

We had a very pleasant stay while we were at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and nice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent and delicious especially the fish dishes.

Decent room with a beautiful oceanview, but the menu was very limited to be considered luxury. The gym needed a complete overhaul; 3 treadmills, but only one of them worked, and the other two were missing screens. Aged equipment, to say the least. The pool was riddled with leaves for the entire week we stayed. However, the beach was superb! I travel frequently and book my lodging in luxury villas or stay in 5 star hotels, and my experience with the Fairmont Pavillion was regrettably different. Stealing our airpods from our room a couple of days before we returned home was the icing on the cake for us to never stay with them again. Love the culture and would recommend Barbados as a beautiful travel destination, but if you're seeking a 5 star experience, the Fairmont Royal Pavillion Barbados Resort Saint James is NOT it... 3.5 stars at best, and that's without the theft of our property.

Lovely stay. One of the best hotels on the island. Book a room on the ground floor for easy access to beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. Breakfast is also fantastic. Options for all.

Can’t say enough about the people here. Service was incredible and the staff were all so friendly. Love the hotel, the food and the views. Special mentions for Maryanne, Llamar and Michael the manager. We would return here without question.

Our 2nd time here, returned home yesterday and our stay was as wonderful as the first. I cannot praise this hotel enough! Its a little haven of tranquillity. The stunning location, beautiful rooms, glorious food and cocktails and the most friendly, helpful staff you could wish to meet. I have no hesitation in recommending this fabulous hotel, many of the guests staying were returnees and its not a surprise. We certainly hope to be back some day.

Great atmosphere, great service. Nothing much to complain about at all. The location is remote enough to not be disturbed by the very busy street but, somewhat far removed from the two closest major towns and the capital. While none of the three towns are within reasonable walking distance (especially along the busy highway that is devoid of sidewalks in many areas, so it could prove dangerous) they are all just a quick bus ride away. Very pleased, all in all, and would definitely visit again.

The people here are great and amazing. Service excellent. Jalisa is a great and helpful person working at the palm restaurant and is always happy to help in any way. The only reason I gave the property 4 stars is because it needs a big update . Lots of things are worn out or used up in my opinion. Wooden decks on the beach level , bathroom sliding doors in the rooms , terraces , wifi is antiquated and should be updated to a mesh network as our room had weak coverage supplied by a single panel 2 buildings over . Just a little age and needs an overhaul. Perhaps Accor will get this message. Time to do some real work even on the pink exterior and rooms . Sandblast the old paint and change or repolish tiles.

Visited the hotel for afternoon tea. The location was superb with a view and sound of the sea, and service was attentive but unobtrusive. Though most items were tasty, the portions were small, so not great value for money.

Amazing hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful and I cannot recommend the hotel enough. The beach is beautiful, the grounds also. Everything you need - tennis courts, gym, pool, watersports. Food and drinks 10/10 too. One minor qualm - water could have been more freely available. We had to keep going up to reception to ask for bottles, otherwise we would have had to pay a lot for bottled water on the beach. We stayed at another Fairmont hotel in Bermuda and on the beach, they were ice cold water dispensers. This was a nice touch, something that the one in Barbados could have down with!

We were in awe of the beauty, luxury and service at Fairmont. My husband and I traveled here for a funeral and we did not book our room until we were getting on the airplane at 8:30pm. The staff arranged for us to be walked through customs at 2:30am and had a driver waiting in a luxury vehicle. When we arrived at the hotel it was warm and humid out, they greeted us with a cool washcloth covered in aromatic scents to clean our faces and hands. Then we were walked to our beautiful ocean facing room. The hotel was quiet, tranquil and calm. The sounds of the ocean right outside of our window was soothing. It was a perfect stay for a couple, retirees, or people looking to relax away from the hustle and bustle of a city or large crowd. Breakfast was served daily. The one thing that we learned though, is you need to keep the AC on, if not the humidity will make the floors and walls very slippery. We each almost slipped a couple times. Thank you to Fairmont for a nice 3 day weekend.

Amazing stay with lovely personnel. Everyone was pleasant and kind. The General Manager was always around checking on guests and that was incredible. We had a large group and it truly felt like home. Every employee should be commended on their jobs!

Special mention to the beach team. I lost my glasses in the sea. The staff were very helpful and convinced they would recover them, I was not convinced. There were big waves! Ryan, 3 days later found them! Absolutely amazing that he remembered. Assured me and actually kept looking till he found them. The staff are amazing! Above and beyond! It’s the staff that make trips! Many thanks especially to Ryan! The hotel is lucky to have you!

Other than location, this is not a 5 star resort. Service was minimal. It took a minimum of ten minutes to get coffee at breakfast. We only ate dinner there once as the service was so slow and the food was just OK. We went elsewhere for dinner and received great service. We could not get towels before 9:00 am for the beach. When we went to get a kayak one afternoon, we were told the staff member was at lunch and we would have to wait. When we were disappointed by that, she tried to get a manager to help and he also said we would have to wait. But then Ray decided he would get it for us which was great. He at least had customer service skills.

The service at this hotel is incredible! The staff are so lovely and made our stay so much better!! We particularly enjoyed the beach club and the water sports! Ryan and the sports staff were amazing! We not only just got to enjoy the sports but we were encouraged to sail and get involved! I would highly recommend this hotel and the water sports!!

Don’t let the high price fool you into thinking this is a luxury venue. It’s isn’t worth a quarter of the price (compared to the hotels next door, one of which we moved to after cutting our Fairmont visit short). The main area for the beach/pool bar was closed and under renovation so not only were there reduced facilities (and the Fairmont doesn’t have many to start. No spa, no water sports facility (except a tired cat and some boards), no sports, etc), but we also had workmen in our ‘private’ terrace and beach space. The workmen were noisy, speaking loudly and forcing my wife and I to abandon any plans for Sun lounging during our days. We left the hotel every day to escape. For USD2k per day, it’s a complete rip-off. When raising this with the hotel, it took them 4 days to address our complaints. Our final solution was to cut our stay short and leave. The ‘compensation’ from the hotel; they didn’t charge us for the nights that we didn’t use. If you want a holiday where you feel ripped off every second of your stay, then the Fairmont is for you.

We had a wonderful , relaxing family getaway! The manager at check in was so helpful and kind . The whole team there made us feel welcome and cared for. The breakfast was delicious and the beachfront was perfect for swimming, walking and reflecting . Simon at the pool was friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy interacting with guests . We felt very pampered, it was a luxurious stay . We ended up adding a night because we didn’t want to leave ;) Thanks to the whole team at Fairmont Barbados , you are doing a great job !

Is one of the best places I've been. So quiet, the water is just perfect, every day is really perfect the weather, I have no words to describe how fantastic is that place.

It is hard to know where to begin. From the moment you arrive to the beautiful pink, colonial-style facilities of Fairmont you know you've made the right decision. An open and breezy floor plan, decorated with bright tropical flowers, surrounded by luscious natural vegetation, and with breathtaking views of the ocean, you are greeted by the front-desk staff and a much appreciated rum punch. Every room of the Fairmont has a direct view of the west coat's pristine ocean. The rooms are spacious with beautiful balcony views of the ocean, and the housekeeping team are so sweet and work for everything to be perfect. The resort itself is the nearest to the water in all of Barbados. Though there are really nice pool and hot tub facilities, we basically spent all of our time on this incredible beach. Our beach experience could not have been any better (their beach is generally accepted locally as the best on the west coast). Aside, of course, from the beach itself, the hotel staff, Michael, Jason and Nicole specifically, make every day a special occasion. They come to check on you, ask about your plans for the day, and by the end of our 8 day stay Michael was setting up our favorite beach chairs very early for us before we even arrived every morning. It was very much above and beyond. The hotel has 3 excellent restaurants, one of which we frequented for breakfast daily. The breakfast buffet is great with a ton of great local food options. We loved the omelettes, cheese selections, salmon, bacon, the butter served, everything! There is great food at the Beach Club where you can also get snorkeling gear and do other water sport activities. Really recommend the fish sandwich and french fries (our favorite fries we had on our 2 weeks trip to Barbados). At our most frequented restaurant at the hotel, Taboras, we were greeted nightly by the chef who would come and check on our meal, chat with us, and make us feel extremely welcomed. There were also 2 cats that roamed the grounds, Rocky and Ginger, that are sweet as can be. I'd like to take a moment to recognize two individuals from Taboras that really went out of their way. Matonia, who waited our tables a few nights, is so friendly and kind, and we spent a lot of time talking about the Caribbean, and our different experiences on the beach. We also bumped into chef Julian at Oistins our first Friday night in town, where we gushed about the blackened fish we had from the night before without knowing HE was the chef (the world is small, Barbados is smaller someone told us!), and the following day at the hotel he had gone out of his way to create a little jar of the blackened seasoning for us to take home!! We are so appreciative of the additional effort both Matonia and Julian made during our trip. As impeccable as the facilities, restaurants, and beach are, they are all surpassed by the staff of Fairmont, which in fact is the highlight of our entire trip to Barbados. Basically everyone we met was so kind and friendly, and very much went out of their way to make you feel at home. They allow you the space and time to explore and experience the resort and beach at your own pace, and they have found the perfect balance of service. There are a few people to highlight for sure, but every individual deserves to be celebrated for their work. Glyne, Michael, Julian, Nicole, Matonia, Shelly, Antonio, Thoriso, Sabrina, Sinclair, Esther, Shackeem and Najae made our stay the best possible experience. As we look back on our 2 weeks stay to Barbados, it is difficult to put into words how special our time was at Fairmont Royal Pavilion, and we are already looking forward to our next visit to what feels much like our home away from home. This is THE place to stay in Barbados. We did some hotel hopping on the west coast to another famous hotel and we very much still choose Fairmont. I envision -- if you are reading this review and considering a stay on the west coast of Barbados -- a very difficult scenario in which Fairmont does not exceed your expectations. Adriana and Andrew

I really like it here, the staff are friendly and the scenery surrounding the hotel is what makes it special. All rooms are directly on the beach, including a hotel pool, and so many water sports available for all thrill-seeking levels. I love all the water sport staff, especially Ryan as he’s chill and a great teacher. Overall a very nice stay, will miss Barbados.

Amazing! If I could live here, I would. Aside from the luxurious room and amenities the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Do not miss afternoon tea on the deck!

I had the worse experience at this fairmont royal pavilion hotel in barbados today July 21,2023 . I brought a guest from USA to the hotel for afternoon tea. At first the server tried to tell us the menu but because I have been there before for afternoon tea and got a menu I asked for the menu . I was reluctantly given the menu. We ordered 1 royal pavilion tea and two cappuccinos. The server confirmed confirmed everything that would be included as apart of the royal tea . We agreed that we only needed one and then if we feel Like we needed more we would order another .The tray came with 2 corn beef half sandwich, 2 salmon half sandwich, 2 scones . One very small fruit cup , one chocolate cookie and one small piece of chocolate cake. We ordered 2 additional cappuccino and 2 Bellini. When the bill came they charged us for two royal pavilion tea . So I said to the server why were we charged for two when we did not receive two . He said he would call the manager to explain to me and my guest . The manager came over with two other ladies to explain to me why they charge for two . I tried to explain to them that I did not get two and that I have been to afternoon tea before and I was never charged for two . I explain to Them that I was just there for afternoon tea and I brought a guest and we had it on the patio and the manager was adamant that I was lying become she worked there for 8 years and afternoon tea was never served on the patio. I was now forced to bring out my pictures that I took the last time I was there. She was calling me a liar . By this time the three ladies were shouting until other guest around were now watching what was going on. I felt like the black guest is now been attacked by the three staff and the white guest looking on. I have been to this hotel so many times and this is the worse experience . I have never experienced this type of service before . I have no problem paying the bill but the fact of the matter is that my guest and I did not get two trays and we also did not get the tea that we were supposed to get that comes with the royal tea. I was so embarrassed by this . I must say don’t ever judge a book my the cover because you don’t know who you dealing with . Not because we are black people . They would have never treated a white guest this way . When I showed my pictures one of the ladies said oh I remember you yes you were here not too long ago. So if I did not bring out my pictures they were saying I was lying . In the end I was so embarrassed I paid for the 4 cappuccinos , 2 Bellinis and one royal tea. Bearing in mind that I did not receive the tea that comes with the package and the menu also said cappuccino was apart of the package . So if it was then why was I paying for 4 . One of the ladies comment was that this is why we don’t give menus .

Everything was great. Service was great. The female chef at Taboras was great in helping me get vegan and vegetarian options that were not on their menu. The only reason I gave a four out of five was the fact that we emailed before hand about the breakfast resturant having to prpare vegan and vegetarian for us every morning while we were there, and the otions we had were still limited. Everery single staff member was kind and friendly and everyone served us well. The beach was picturesque. We will visit again!

As one who enjoys Fairmont Hotels, I was curious as to what a Caribbean island Fairmont would be like. Well, now I know. What a wonderful, relaxing, and stellar place to stay. The staff are attentive, courteous, and intentional. If you are looking to get away from hustle and bustle of the masses of tourists, this is your place. The fitness center is pretty good. The rooms are very good. My interaction with one of the staff members was as follows: Staff: Good morning. How are you? Me: Good morning, Sir. How are you? Staff: I’m good if you are good. That interaction sums up the spirit of this hotel.

Avoid. Tried to eat here as non residents of the hotel. Plenty of tables overlooking the sea, but they tried to shove us on pushed together coffee tables near the service area. Staff were not helpful at all. Surley in fact. Needless to say, we moved on to the Lone Star Hotel a bit further up the beach, which was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and couldn't have done more for us.Fairmont should take a look and learn how hospitality works.

We had an amazing time, the grounds were beautiful, the staff were all fantastic. The food was amazing. We had a slight issue with our room, however they gave us a free upgrade and a bottle of wine and couldn’t handle the complaint any better

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience. The grounds and the beach were both spectacular. We spent the majority of our time touring the island (fort, caves), but luxuriated at the hotel during the evenings. We particularly enjoyed the freshly caught seafood. Additionally, the service was astounding. We felt very much at home at this Fairmont and look forward to visiting again.

My friend and I booked for afternoon tea and certainly didn't live up to our expectations. We went for the most expensive package and our hot drinks were served in a MUG with a saucer. The sandwiches, pastries and cakes were alright but too much food so we decided to take the rest away. Sandwiches and brownies were squashed into the same container. We then ordered cocktails which took more than 20 minutes to be served. The bar staff seemed more interested in gossiping and eating behind the bar than the customers..Very disappointed in what should have been a lovely afternoon.

This hotel is like coming home to family. The staff are absolutely wonderful, warm, and welcoming. Service is always consistent and detail oriented. The food and location are unparalleled. Shontelle, Sabrina, Mary Ann, Jamal, and Tim all went above and beyond to ensure our stay and celebrations were extraordinary and truly memorable. It was my first time to Barbados and I will definitely return!

Afternoon tea worst ever experience. Who serves tea in a coffee mug on a saucer. Asked for a cocktail.took 35 minutes to make and even at that wasn't served properly. Was disgusting. Even 3 scones for 2 people. Really. Everything was just out of proportion. Never again
