We love Island Plate! We have eaten here at least 4 times over the last 16 days as my wife has gluten allergies and I am a vegetarian.. Fresh food, great service and reasonable prices. Sisters, Pat and Marie, are gracious owners and hosts. Looking forward to coming back!

Delicious, locally-inspired homestyle menu served with quiet refinement. Not fancy but great value for authentic dishes. Vegetarian friendly! Enjoy the rum sour or the Daiquiri made with real fruit.

We ordered a meal for 4 for delivery last night - the food was delicious, Id say one of the nicest since we arrived in Barbados. The presentation, (beautifully boxed and still hot) the delivery and the service was impeccable - and great value for money. Well done for bringing Island Plates to us! Would recommend 1. Chicken Curry, 2. Pork Curry 3 Coconut Roti 4. ALWAYS THE BROWNIES - best ever.

Arrive at Island plates on Feb 13th at 9:55am for breakfast and was told by the server that my guest and I could not be seated although they were plenty of available seating. It appears as though the folks at the eatery only judge you by the colour of your skin. Apparently slavery mentality is evidently quite alive. Perhaps they should try catering to your returning nationals regardless of skin colour.

The food was great. I had an omlette. I like spicy foods and the hot pepper sauce made by Pat excellent.

We have enjoyed both visits to Island plates. The staff are welcoming and friendly and service is good. The breakfast fish wrap is fabulous and cooked really well. We would recommend this place and enjoyed our Bajan breakfasts!

We were addicted to their breakfast every morning. Pat and Marie are the sisters who run the restaurant. The breakfast pocket will not disappoint, it was our favorite.

Friendly place. Good alternative to the normal offerings

Wow, soooo good. Best food I had on the island in 8 days. Everything is fresh so it takes 15-20 minutes to make but they have a wonderful outside seating area. Could be easily missed as I did not see a sign from the main road, but it is in the shopping village across from Jordan’s. Be sure not to miss this wonderful treasure. I had the chicken curry special with coconut milk added to make it very mild. The chicken looked like it was maybe coated in a light batter and fried after marinading. It came with some pumpkin and chickpeas and a splash of tamarind chutney. Most notable was the hot fresh buttery roti, served on the side. Best I have ever had. Wish I discovered this place earlier in my trip. my boyfriend had the island wrap with chicken and vinaigrette dressing, also very good. All together our two meals and a smoothie and coffee was 57 barbados.

Hesitant to write a review because on the one hand you wish to keep this gem as is (keeping the kooks away) while on the other you want the owners to succeed because they deserve it. We started with a fruit smoothie which was fresh and excellent. For lunch, we had the fish Caesar wrap (which was very tasty and generous portion) and the shrimp pasta in a red sauce that was equally very good. Kudos to the sisters.

We have had 2 deliveries from them and each was superb with delivery on time. The menu choices are to die for! The food is so tasty and plentiful - normally enough left over for a lunch, or dinner the next evening. They come in foil containers so easy to keep warm if you’re still have a sundowner when the food arrives! In February, the web site was not completed and so I ordered on the web site but needed to phone or e mail to agree the date and time. I paid cash as the on-line payment system didn’t go through. Thank you Marie & Pat, who respond quickly on e mail + What’s App (phone and messages).

We have eaten at Island Plates many times in the past and are so pleased that they are doing food delivery while they are waiting for their new restaurant. The service is excellent and the food as delicious as ever. Received our second delivery this trip and lots more in the fridge for tomorrow. Love the seafood curry but you really can't go wrong with any of their dishes.

There is no restaurant at the moment but go to their website and order online for delivery - the food is always utterly delicious! Ordered from them 3 times whilst staying in Speightstown and was never disappointed The best fishcakes I've had on the island, chewy crispy roti's, spicy flavoursome beef island curry and the delicious rich and creamy peanut chicken curry Yes I ordered exactly the same thing each time as it was sooooooo good!

We sampled Pat and Marie's cooking previously when they had their little restaurant in Speightstown. Very happy to discover they are now delivering, and their food is as delicious as ever. The Bajan fish cakes are the best on the island by a long way. We had the seafood frittata - delicious - and can also recommend the mini doughnuts, which came with a salted caramel sauce to die for. Delivered bang on time and beautifully packed in recyclable packaging. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend. Delicious food, carefully crafted, combining complex flavours of spices, herbs and local ingredients. Delivered at the requested time by Marie and arrived piping hot, presented in recyclable containers. Great value for money and good portion sizes attending to dietary requirements was not a problem. Had a lovely lunch delivered by the ladies from Island plates today. We had a vegan falafel & sweet potato wrap and a vegan eggplant curry. Indulged ourselves with the Date cake for later on. Beautiful food , well presented. Thank you Pat & Marie.

Food is always incredible and the service is always amazing! Whenever we are staying in Barbados we make sure to visit as much as we can!

Marie and Pat are two of the most wonderful people on the Island. I've been to Barbados twice, and Island Plates has been a highlight of both visits. Marie has spectacular baked goods, and Pat's curries and fish are delicious. Service is top-notch and the meal is almost always accompanied with a visit from Pat when things slow down in the kitchen. It's worth a visit to meet these wonderful people and enjoy authentic Bajan food taught to Pat and Marie by their mother, and I assume, given it's own modern twist. Enjoy!

We have visited the island 5 times and always go to Island Plates at least once during our stay. The food is excellant and the welcome always friendly. Having read the one poor review on this site I can only assume the person is super sensitive about his/her race. I have seen all races of people there and I have seen 'white' customers turned away. The food is good and I highly recommend this place.

Stumbled on this lovely spot a year ago, had a wonderful breakfast (great coffee, too!). Came back this year and had another excellent meal. Both of the sisters are lovely, and have rights to take great pride in what they do. Hoping to get there for dinner this year! Ps: don’t miss out on their pepper sauce. HOT, but so flavorful.

We enjoyed several breakfasts and a dinner here during our stay over Christmas. The setting is pleasant and a nice place to people watch. The value relative to the portion size and quality is very good for Barbados. Everything they serve is homemade so sometimes the food seems to come out a little slowly but it’s well with the wait. Thanks to the owners for being such wonderful hostesses. We truly enjoyed your restaurant.

Great food. Wonderful atmosphere to watch the world go by. My Islandplates Caesar salad🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋 for lunch. It is unimaginable how quickly I ate it. It was wonderful. Garlicky and cheesy. Sooooo yummy. I included my always favourite brownie.😋😋Deliveries and curbside pick up.

The food and ice coffee was nice but very slow service, they are nice but it took 1,5 hour to have a snack and coffee. And worst thing, it was raining outside and they waited until AFTER our meal to tell us the card machine was broken and sent me out in the rain for an atm. If i had known i had gone elsewhere!

Lovely food and great service

Got there at 1pm and waited for the server to seat us. As she approached, she quickly glanced at us and her facial expression changed from her happy demeaner to a solemn one. I’m sure she noted we’re not white. Meanwhile, every single other person seated was white. We asked for seating and she asked if we were interested in anything in the menu, not replying to our request. Then, she blurted that they don’t have any tables available. So, my entire family looked over to the seating area and not two, but three, tables were empty. We then requested a take away, to which she responded they don’t do take-away. So, we took a look inside and they, in fact, had take away containers. STAY AWAY from this racist joint. They may be all smiles to white colored people. But, rest assured, us brown people are not welcome. I will be seeing if I can get this posted in local news papers. Racism has no place here. Edit after response: Thank you for addressing me personally. However, the fact of the matter does not change and how we were treated was unjust. I will stand by what what factually happened. We were turned away from service and were denied take out. Claims of actually having take-out only makes matters worse for future business as I will be requesting my friends and family not go here. Be it due to racism, or just complete neglect, the fact of the matter stands. And, the demeanor of the situation is just as factual. I will still be reaching out to local news papers. The food here is so so so delicious. The spices and the flavor are absolutely amazing. Delighted to have found it and we will definitely visit again before we leave
