Irie Foods

Restaurant Jamaican restaurant

👍👍 Got settled into my Barbados quarantine hotel in Maxwell, Christ Church area and was trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Take out food is never as good as food at the restaurant BUT I cant imagine food getting any better. We ordered Oxtail, Brown Stew Snapper Fish and Jerk Pork. Due to me... People often mention Jamaican, chicken, staff, delicious, friendly, good, Barbados, service, great, jerk,

Seen the reviews so just had to try! On our first visit we left disappointed as they had run out of all jerk items on the menu so they gave me a card and told me ring next time. the next day I rang and went there for lunch. We both had the jerk pork meals which was packed with flavour but very fatty! maybe if the fat had been blackened and crispy it would have been more enjoyable but unfortunately it wasn't, Dumplings where nice though. Not to be put off i ordered a potion of the jerk chicken to takeaway. Which was in fact delicious, lovely flavours with a hint of lemon accompanied by a pot of spicy jerk sauce which was amazing, definitely the better option on the menu. Staff are friendly and polite. Seating outside and also inside with air conditioning. Fairly priced and would definitely revisit.

This food was AMAZING! Honestly I been to Jamaica and this was the best Jamaican food I have had ever. The fish was so good, and so was the bammy. The Sorrel! The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Barbados.

Irie Foods – A Jamaican Culinary Gem I recently had the pleasure of dining at Irie Foods, and I must say, it was an experience like no other. Having visited numerous Jamaican restaurants in the past, I can confidently declare that Irie Foods surpasses them all. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with exceptional service. Andrew, the host, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even accommodating our late arrival. His warm hospitality set the tone for the evening, and we truly appreciate his dedication to ensuring our visit was memorable. They say that when you cook with love, the food comes out better, and this sentiment rang true at Irie Foods. The chef clearly prepared our meal with an abundance of love and passion. Every bite was a burst of flavor, a testament to the chef's culinary expertise. The dishes were not only delicious but also exhibited a remarkable depth of taste that can only come from a true master of their craft. Irie Foods has undoubtedly earned its reputation as the best Jamaican restaurant in my book. If you're in search of delectable Jamaican cuisine paired with exceptional service, this is the place to be. My dining experience here was nothing short of fantastic, and I look forward to returning to savor more of their mouthwatering dishes prepared with love. Thank you, Irie Foods, for a truly Fantastic experience Thank you Andrew

update: Returned for breakfast! Didn't fail~ Waffle & Fried chicken, Cormeal Porridge. Golden apple juice! All so fresh and great~ Awesome 👌 Visiting Barbados from NY. Craved for good Jerk Chicken. Chicken was sold out so I tried Jerk pork and hubby ordered Curry chicken. Both were excellent. Chicken was very similar to Thai sweet green curry. Tasted coconut (I can be wrong) and little sweet notes. (different from what we were used to Jamaican curry chicken) Great customer service! Will definately visiti again before we leave!

Excellent food. Had a great meal here. Very friendly staff. Reason for 4 stars is that the Food Service is a bit slow. However once received was REALLY GOOD.

Great tasting food, nice and cool inside the resteraunt. Food takes about half hour to prepare but well worth the wait. Only 4 starts this time because service was average but I'm sure is usually great

We came here on our first day in Barbados after arriving from Dominica to try and get home. The staff were so friendly and the manager came out to inform us that restaurants had to stop allowing customers from then onwards and only serve takeaway food. It was a small gesture but it was so nice of him to come and talk to us! And the food we had was fantastic. It was our only restaurant meal the week we were stuck in Barbados - we weren't too excited about the beaches but had read that food on the island was fantastic so I'm so glad we chose here for the one and only meal. As a vegetarian I tried a recommended unique vegetable which is apparently commonly eaten in Jamaica. My husband had jerk chicken and it was the best he had during our three weeks in the Caribbean (he'd tired and been disappointed in many restaurants in other islands!)

We are regularly having lunch and dinner at Irie. Fantastic service, food cooked with love. Lamb and goat juicy and tender melting in your mouth, fish, cooked to perfection. All meals are full of flavour, decent size portions. Thank you so much for looking after us each time.

The food was ok. Had the curry goat and it could have used a bit more flavor & seasoning. The staff weren’t rude but they weren’t friendly either.

Great Jamaican Restaurant near Dover Beach. The staff were kind and provided you with service that was calm and attentive. I had the curried goat which was very good and almost as good as the curried goat that I've had in the Turtle Bay chain of restaurants back in the UK. For my personal taste I would have liked to have added some raw red onions and some dressing for the salad with a slice of lemon or lime. The rice was tasty too.

Tasty, fresh, delicious. It wasn’t super spicy but was very flavourful. The beef patty was still crispy next day even though re warmed in microwave. They make it fresh when you order. We had the goat curry, curried chicken, curries shrimp. Sorrel was tasty as well (they make their own).

The best Jerk Chicken, rice and peas I’ve had. The coleslaw was to die for, if you’re ever in Dover it’s worth a visit if you like authentic Jamaican food. Reasonably priced for Barbados.

Been here twice in the last week. Both times excellent service and food. Wanted to try the oxtail but had beef stew prepared in the same way instead. Just delicious melt in your mouth. Husband had jerk chicken which again was very tasty and not too heavily spiced. Nice touch with our name on the table.

Great cafe/restaurant with friendly and helpful service. Sure sign of authenticity is locals using it. Only small, so sometimes run out of items later on. If on self catering and the restaurant is full, there is the option of take away and frozen meals.

The staff are amazing and very friendly. Gave the kids games while they waited for their fiid We had a variety of food, jerk chicken, saltfish and cabbage, rice and peas and breadfruit. The food was delicious and the curry/gravy we had on the side was good enough to make us all want to come back for the curry goat!

Despite the early hour, some dishes were no longer available. Together with the other guests at 6 pm, we waited 1.5 hours (!!) for food, which was very average. In addition to very fat pork, tasteless rice, the best were platans. I do not recommend

Perhaps we were unlucky when we came here, but the wait time was way too long (not just normal Barbados slow). They ran out of jerk chicken so another table left, and perhaps we should have followed them.... We had the coconut chicken curry and the goat curry, which were average at best.

Really nice vegan options. Ackee veggie meal, callaloo or roti. Lots of sides are vegan too like breadfruit, festival (cassava) and ground provision (sweet potato, etc). Soursop juice was delicious.

We came around 1:30pm and they were out of most dishes. Only had curried lamb and chicken left. We ordered those but had to wait nearly an hour for our food. We were sitting outside and can see one of the staff loading a lot of food into his car. Maybe that’s why ours took so long? Perhaps offer us a patty or something if they knew it was going to take that long for food. There was only two other tables there. The food itself was not bad when it finally did arrive, but the waitress didn’t bring the gravy and salad dressing that she promised. Was barely around so we couldn’t even order more beer. Probably the worst dining experience on the island so far (have been here over a month).

This is the best Jamaican food on the island period. When we didn't see oxtail on the menu but our hostess said "IT'S OUR SPECIALTY" we we're very pleased. The mashed potatoes we're FREAKIN FIRE. I wish I had asked for extra. Also the sorrel was to die for lol. I'm mos def coming back to this place again.

Got settled into my Barbados quarantine hotel in Maxwell, Christ Church area and was trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Take out food is never as good as food at the restaurant BUT I cant imagine food getting any better. We ordered Oxtail, Brown Stew Snapper Fish and Jerk Pork. Due to medical reasons, I lay off the starches and ordered a salad as my side. I was informed that you can have them with rice, mashed potatoes, plantain or fried bammy (cassava). Best decision I ever made!!! Food was delivered to our hotel and opening each food container and looking at the presentation was like…heaven. The taste surpassed all expectations (and I have a picky palate). The Brown Stew Fish was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten in my 52 years of life. This sweetish tangy sauce with stewed vegetables and whole fish was so good that I wanted to dip everything in it. The jerk sauce was full of flavor and not overly hot. Jerk pork was moist tender and seasoned to perfection. When they realized my only side was a salad they gave me a double salad. I highly recommend Irie Foods Jamaican Restaurant located in Dover, Christ Church, Barbados. I just told my traveling partner. I could truly eat there every day while we are on vacation. It was that good!!
