Elitist beach with no public access Basically there is no public access to the beach. You cannot purchase drinks and there are signs separating the private and public land. We managed to get on to the beach, 6 of us including a baby and a child under 5 via a hotel, who reluctantly let us through. The beach is indeed one of the most stunning in Barbados however the elitist nature of the people was very off putting, an American woman was too delighted to tell me that the bars were exclusively for the use of the Sandy Lane home owners. When we walked to the end there was no way off. My daughter walked through the sea along the edge of the coast and was fortunate enough to find a local fisherman and his boat who literally rescued us from the beach. I have been going to Barbados since 1983, I would normally stay on the south coast. This experience has really been disappointing and it definitely does not sit well with me that sections of the beach are essentially being made private by failing to provide proper public access to all of Barbados' beaches. If I lived here I would be campaigning for improved public access to all of the beaches. This is a stain on the reputation of Barbados. If you do make it onto this beach bring your own provisions and exit strategy.

50 years ago, my late husband and I honeymooned at the sandy lane. We flew to Barbados and were welcomed on the flight from a gentleman from that island. Barbados spread it’s charm on us for 45 glorious years. For those of you who have never been to this island: enjoy it’s magic and my fervent wish is that you share the same love my husband and I shared for so many years

The most beautiful beach I’ve ever been to! The question for you is: how will you get there? To get access to the beach its a bit tricky! You can’t just walk straight to the beach. You need to go south beyond the hotel Sandy Lane. The access is next to ONE Sandy Lane. But it’s worth the trouble! 🀭

Beautiful calm beach. You can access it both from the north and south (south is easier). Just make sure you go while there’s low tide, otherwise the path will be underwater. And have a drink at Sandy Lanes hotel!

This is a really beautiful beach and worth the effort to get to If you can. If you are staying at the Sandy Lane Hotel you're very lucky to have easy access. If not staying there you can access this public beach from the south ..easiest...( the cut through is next to one sandy lane and the walk north along the shore about 50 yards) or from the north (where the cut through is close to sandy crest medical centre and then walk south along the shore footpath about 700 yards.) HOWEVER from north or south.. you will have to judge your timing to coincide with low tide to get access and even then you could get caught by a rogue wave. If you approach from the south and have sturdy footware you can clamber above the sea wall section by the cut through for a bit to avoid the waves if you feel confident but the rocks above/ behind the sea wall are pretty sharp so take it slow....hope this is helpful ..!

Lovely beach for light sand and swimming. Only 3 stars from me due to personal preference as the snorkelling is not as interesting as beaches just a few minutes walk away and access is tricker due to the hotels there. Much of the beach is covered by sun loungers, etc, especially at high tide, so the only really accessible bits if you dont stay an adjacent hotel hasn't got shade and is relatively steeply sloping. Nice, but other nearby beaches so much better depending on what you're after.

This beach is one of the most beautiful I have ever been to. It is very serene, peaceful and not at all busy or crowded, with gorgeous golden Sand that stretches for as far as the eye can see! It is also very clean! The sea is very calm, warm and blue in January.

This beach sure is secluded because there is NO public access. Unless you have a boat or are fabulously wealthy and can afford to stay at Sandy Lane Hotel, forget it.

My family's go-to because sometimes Accra is just too crowded. May not have the same within-walking-distance access to a Chefette but it's a lot calmer than the other resort beaches.

White sand, palm trees and turquoise water what else do you need 🌴 surf lessons available at the end of the beach.

Beaches on the east coast are less rocky.
