Hotel

šŸ‘šŸ‘ This is our third time at The Sands and we couldnā€™t love it more. The staff are friendly, the rooms clean and spacious and the local fun is perfect. The sun beds are comfortable, the pool is a dream. We love the live music at night as well. People often mention staff, hotel, beach, room, good, restaurant, Sands, friendly, pool, clean,

We have been here in January 2022. Very clean and has one of the best beaches. Food is good, lunch and dinner from menu. ( you need to book you slot every day and the breakfast is the same) . The staff is really helpful. They arranged a car hire and explained to as all there is to know about the island. ( transportation, beaches, places to go). Wifi works well around the pool and restaurant area. Pool is shallow. (4 ft). Bar opens at 10 am. Bottled beer and wine was nice. Paddle board and kayak is free to use.

Great little place. Clean, tidy and you wonā€™t go hungry or thirsty! Right on the beach. Beautiful sea. The hotel staff are really nice. Customers are laid back. Room is a duplex and very clean. Itā€™s charm lies in the fact it is not a massive all inclusive and itā€™s not right in the middle of everything. Food so far has been better than expected. Itā€™s a great choice for us (couple no children).

So I did a day pass at The Sands as part of a birthday celebration and it was awesome. The hotel is really quite beautiful and opens right onto the beach. The room was also nice and quite modern. The food and drinks were included and did not disappoint: tasty and plentiful. I rarely give 5 stars but the service here was exceptional, the table was decorated in honour of the birthday girl and there was much singing, merriment and shots. But the real icing on the birthday cake was Damian our host/ server for the day, he was so personable and truly seemed to love this job and interacting with guests. The world needs more Damians.

Ok, Iā€™ve been to 15 all inclusive resorts all over the Caribbean and this is the worst. Let me list the cons -only 1 pool and itā€™s very shallow - no activities on site what so ever - only 1 bar, opens at 10am and closes at 9pm! Watered down drinks and most times no alcohol in them at all, takes a very long time to get a drink and very slow service on the beach - no room service menu and cost$20 us to get something from the kitchen - the beach is not raked and thereā€™s tons of sticks and twigs throughout - must make a reservation for every lunch and dinner. So stupid and very inconvenient. - wifi is extremely slow, canā€™t do any FaceTime or zoom calls. I did an internet speed test and it was 800k per second, wow so frustrating. - we had 2 staff just walk in to our suite at 7:30pm caught my wife changing. When I talked to hotel reception they said the people were doing a room turn down. At 7:30pm and after one was done earlier that day? Lies! - the breakfast starts at 7:30 am canā€™t get a coffee before that unless itā€™s instant coffee from a kettle they provide in room. - the breakfast buffet is exactly the same thing every day and if your not there first thing the food is cold - there is no where to leave a review on their website, huge red flag - they do not change the sheets on the bed so you need to pull all the sheets off the bed to get them changed - the mini fridge has 2 bottles of water and 4 small bottles of pop. No alcohol is offered in suite! - the turn down staff will shut off the A/C and open the drapes so you come back to a hot unit from boiling in the sun - this is the worst all inclusive site that we have been to and we travel to a different Caribbean country every year for the last 15 years.

I stayed at The Sands for 3 nights in early July and loved it, worth the all-inclusive price. The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed, good for adults and families. There are activities hosted during the week, like bingo and sip & paint. The Noir is the fancy fine dining restaurant on the top floor, with rooftop views. The food was so good, small portions expected of a fine dining experience. There's so much to positively comment on, but to cut it short, I really enjoyed my stay and I highly recommend this resort.

Enjoyed a wonderful staycation. Vicki at the front desk was extremely helpful and ensured our stay was to our liking. Germain the Chef was also brilliant in ensuring all our dietary requirements were met. As a couple with specific dietary needs, the staff went out of their way to ensure we were catered for. Food was delicious especially the buffet and the non-alcoholic beverages and mocktails were enjoyed. Rooms were kept clean and house cleaning came daily and were happy to help in anyway. Overall it was a relaxing few days and would totally recommend to individuals who want to have a break and not worry about food or anything else.

Top notch boutique hotel with great service, food and amenities. The negative reviews are all lying. The rooms are clean and spacious. If you need additional service just call the front desk and they will help you. There was a variety of food as well as around the hotel to try out. If you wanted more just ask or you could ask for odd.rhe menu food and they would provide. The staff are very friendly, especially if you are nice to them and tip when they go above and beyond. Was visiting to celebrate a milestone birthday and.rhw staff made our group feel like royalty. Amazing beach that connects to other spots to swim around and bring your snorkeling gear as we saw turtles and lots of fish

For a momentus occasion, I did not feel special here. For an ordinary vacation, I would say the experience can pass but not for special occasions. The hotel is gorgeous and clean; a very relaxing overall atmosphere. The rooms are outfitted with stove etc but no cutlery. Staff are very friendly and helpful but the service is not consistent. You can tell off hand when more experienced staff are on duty, based on quality of drinks and food provided. Overall, just an ok experience for me.

If you like a small, intimate resort, this is the place to be. Beautiful grounds, incredibly kind, attentive, and wonderful staff, as well as great food options. Spent one week here in Oct-Nov for our anniversary and completely fell in love with the place. Love the flexibility for dining hours and the abundance of beach chairs - meaning none of the nonsense of people claiming chairs for the day. Given itā€™s small size, you get to know the excellent staff and the other guests. It feels like an exclusive club. The beach is delightful, small, but private and tranquil. One of our fondest places weā€™ve stayed in the Caribbean. Canā€™t wait to come back again! Thanks to all the employees for making our stay incredible!

I stayed at the Sands in February for 7 nights. From my understanding, I booked an ā€˜all-inclusiveā€™ 1 bedroom junior garden view suite and upon check in, I was walked into a ā€˜super saver roomā€™ which resembled a janitors closet with 1 window and no natural light. I was livid. After spending two days on the phone with my travel rep who was corresponding with the general manager, they agreed to upgrade me for an extra $2200US for the remainder of my stay. We declined. Hereā€™s why: 1. The Restaurants: Only two restaurants on site. The main restaurant is located beachside. The menu was tasty and they do change it every day to give you some options. If you like to sleep in a bit and head down to the breakfast buffet at 8:30am, youā€™ll find the selection picked through and not restocked. All week I had to get up and chase staff for basic cutlery like a spoon. Lunch was okay and dinner was okay. Portions were pretty small. They have a snack menu available which is ok. The second restaurant they have is called Noir, we were told upon checkin that we can only dine there once during our stay. There was no where in the fine print that you could only eat there once. Leaving you with pretty much 1 restaurant to dine at. 2. The Entertainment: After dinner there was live music right outside the only restaurant which was outside beachfront. The talent was always very good. Problem was there wasnā€™t enough tables and chairs for guests to sit down and enjoy, so you had to sit back in the restaurant if you wanted more seating. 3. The Beach: Barbados offers the best beaches Iā€™ve ever seen in my lifeā€”ā€”once you leave the resort. Upon arriving we noticed TONS of seaweed (pic enclosed) that washed up on shore. Did anyone bother to clean this up?? NOPE! The resort beside the Sands did. The Sands did not. After two days, I couldnā€™t take it anymore so we left for the bigger beaches to the west and east of us. Highly recommend Dover beach! Oh! Did you think you were gonna be served any drinks while on the beach, nope! You always had to get up, walk to the bar to place your order then walk back to the beach and bus your own cups as the day went on. Super Annoying!!! Oh! And did you want fresh beach towels? That only happens in the afternoon sometime if youā€™re lucky to catch the laundry drop off. We had fresh towels maybe 3 times out of trip. 4. The Pool: We are not pool people at all, so I never went in it. Apparently itā€™s a salt water pool but by 8:30am, all chairs around the pool were taken. Guests would wake up early, claim their spot and head back up to their rooms. Other comments: We did expect fresh bath towels in our room at least every 2 days, that never happened. When walking down to housekeeping, they provided us with beach towels instead. The phone in my room did not fit on the side table, the lamp was really too big for the table itself. It kept on flashing a red light and there was no directory for me to call down to the front desk. Totally useless. The Staff were all very very nice! They were all very courteous and polite. Barbados itself if the most beautiful island Iā€™ve ever been to, but do yourself a favor and do not stay here especially if youā€™re looking for an all-inclusive option. After 3 days we started dining outside the resort where the food is much more tasty and very affordable.

Overall an extremely pleasant stay at the Sands, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The Staff have been very accommodating and friendly, especially with our two young children. The pool has been great and the food is lovely but maybe a little more selection wouldn't be a bad thing. However, the quality of food is very good and you can ask to mix it up or add extras. Drinks including soft, cocktails and beer are the best I've had from an all-inclusive holiday prior to this one. We saw and swam with turtles every day on the private beach, which chairs and umbrellas are provided. The sea is a little bit more choppy than some other beaches on the west side of the island but not too bad. They also provide late check out if you have a late flight for free. Thank you The Sands

Service and staff is great, rooms layout is nice and comfortable, Wifi quality šŸ‘Œ(yes it matters). Pool area limited but beach access makes up for that. Minor inconveniences in parking, check in and check out times obviously these are scheduled related. Overall pleasing experience.

Can't really fault the place. We upgraded to a duplex room and it's worth every penny. Location on the beach is perfect, food is great, room is lovely and above all else the staff are amazing.

Nice location, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was probably my best spot.....the food was great, thanks to chef Jermaine (hope I spelt his name correctly) and his staff. The wait staff was excellent and Tanya was extremely nice and always smiling.....the entire staff in the restaurant and bar is to be applauded for a job well done. The sports guys encouraged me to go kayaking, was a bit nervous at first, but I enjoyed it to the max. I even interacted with security and he was all smiles and welcoming.......my experience there was great and I would gladly recommend anyone to take a break from your busy lifestyle and relax at The Sands for a weekend or longer if you wish.

My experience here was outstanding šŸ‘ stayed 14th-21st of May 2023. ( 60 year old travelling with 3 friends) On arrival we were presented with a refreshing cocktail and refreshing peppermint flannels to cool us down after our long trip. The rooms were modern, spacious and kept clean and replenished to a very good standard. All the staff went above and beyond, to ensure a good time was had by all. The food was excellent šŸ‘Œ. .. a mixture of a la carte and buffet. .. Entertainment was always singers. Loved them all! I'd like to say a big thanks to all the staff, who are very hard working and very pleasant. My favourites during my stay were Cet, Junior and Elroy.

Our 30 years Anniversary was ruined from the moment we arrived at the hotel. We arrived at 1 pm. The lady asked us to come back at 4 pm since we arrived too early. When I was asking to use at least the beach chairs or the pool, I was told to pay an extra $220 as a day pass since the hotel is all-inclusive. When we came back at 4 pm, our room wasn't ready yet, and then we were asked to wait for another hour. From my previous experience with so many all-inclusive hotels, this was the worst one, and I will never recommend this hotel to anyone, and of course, I would never come backšŸ˜’

Food was great, wait staff was very professional. Towel and lounge cushion situation was ugly, what resort runs out of those? We got a deal to stay there but if we had paid full price I would have been upset. Room was nice but the chairs and couch were uncomfortable. Ac in bedroom was excellent but there was none on the main floor and it tended to get hotter. We'd leave the door from bedroom to downstairs open but housekeeping would often close it. Bathroom was very good, good pressure and temp control. Pool was good and ocean water was warm and not at all rough. Drinks were poured strong but the bartender will back off the booze and boost the mixer if you ask.

Here is an honest review of this resort. Upon arrival it looked like a dream. Beautiful beach and great room ocean view. Then came the food. It is sub par the buffets were terrible. The staff wonā€™t make eye contact and are the worst Iā€™ve ever seen for customers service. They open the flooded food tent late. Like a hour or more. The room while nice has tv downstairs with no ac. One ac unit in one bedroom. The place was always flooded and couldnā€™t eat in the only area they allow was a covered tent that leaked badly. Little to no entertainment in a small tent was all that there was. The beach never cleaned. Always dirty with litter. I wonā€™t be back.

Superb location on the beach, close to St. Lawrence Gap. You can also take local bus to Bridgetown for 2USD pp. Local people very friendly. Spacious and very clean rooms, high quality service, very friendly staff with outstanding customer skills. Food a la carte very good choice, well cooked, tasty and beautifully presented. Breakfast served in a buffet, repetitive and monotonous menu :-( Recommend to take the island tour with Antonio, service provided by the hotel reception. You can also visit sister hotel The Mango Bay. Just the next door is located Crystal Waters Beach Bar with live music.

This is not a 4 star hotel. Itā€™s 2 at best. Itā€™s not for children. The food sucks. The service sucks. If you book a room that has a living room thereā€™s no ac in the living room so youā€™ll be burning up. The beach is beautiful. Not enough beach or pool chairs. Entertainment is almost non existent. Thereā€™s something weird going on here with ownership/ pay/ employees because you can tell majority of the employees are not happy. Sheets were not cleaned properly. Room service is bootleg. One bar for whole resort and they are very slow. Nothing about the food reminded me we were in Barbados except the fish cakes. This hotel seems to cater only to its majority guest which are white people from the uk. The hotel is a snooze fest so if you go with young kids youā€™ll get bad looks from the guest if they are having an ounce of fun because they treat it like a retirement home. Did not find locals any better. The few encounters at the grocery store down the street were met with the same miserable people. Of all the countries Iā€™ve travelled this has been my worst experience. Youā€™ve been warned.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in! Beautiful pool and fabulous beach! Rooms are spotless and air conditioning is just what you need after a rather hot day in the sun! Isabel, Hermione and all the staff are so kind and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them if you need help and advice. The bar and restaurant staff and all friendly and again, nothing is too much trouble. They went above and beyond to help both me and my husband with our issues (both contracting Covid and having to quarantine) and although we were able to extend our holilday slightly it was not long enough and we will definately be back! And the icing on the cake was Noir. You MUST make sure that you book into the fine dining restaurant. Was the best food we've ever had and a fabulous experience! Loved everything about the hotel and we will definately be back!! Thankyou to everyone at The Sands. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!!

I have stayed at The Sands for 5 nights. The hotel is great, clean and has a good, relaxing vibe all over. The housekeeping is really good, the restaurant has a variety of food and is suitable for vegetarians as well. The best of all is the amazing staff. Although I was travelling solo, I always felt safe and taken care of - Thank you so much to all the kind and awesome staffmembers that took time out of their day to introduce themselves and let me know that I can count on them if I needed anything. I will definitely come back and bring my family so they can experience this lovely and friendly hotel šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ¤—

Have travelled Caribbean last 15 years. We wanted to try Barbados first time The travel agent highly recommended The Sands. We paid a ' Huge' amount of money, most ever, as we were given impression of luxurious Hotel. Not! For the price We paid We could have done Europe instead! We were given a room tucked away in a concrete tunnel which was like a cell block! Size of a child's room. One double bed Not even a window! So we lost hours on arrival to get other room but had to shell out even more US dollars!!!! One restaurant, one bar under a canopy. No gym No spa NO FRESH flowers anywhere!? Cuba poor country but hotels always have fresh flowers Bar staff young kids no professional bartender Food very controlled small portions. Deserts cheapest quality like Duncan Hines. Same one beer choice every day. Cheapest quality drinks! You had to pay $5 US for expresso or cappuccino unheard of! I keep using " cheapest" given the ridiculous "overcharge of this trip!!" Our evening at Noir, food was great but the kitchen door slammed repeatedly throughout entire dinner! The location of hotel is very close to ocean which was lovely We met the most amazing people around the world The female staff servers warm and friendly but sometimes the staff was off their game so wait time for a meal or drink was way too long There was a beach bar girl but she only came one time out of 9 days at the beach? Even tho she was working?? Clean beach towels rarely available The music pumping from restaurant next door competing with pumping music at Sands too many times We were deceived by agent and AirCanada Vacations. Barbados Air Canada Rep did absolutely nothing to assist when I messaged about the room and talked thereafter in person. Just dismissive ! Extremely dissapointing trip. We didn't get what We paid for!

The Sands is a must-stay-at location in Barbados! It is one of very few resort (not large hotel) complexes that has ACTUAL sand beach front. It's well situated on the South coast close to amenities and all levels of transit. The staff went above and beyond. They actually know you as a guest and care to ensure your stay is amazing. Well appointed rooms are comfortable and clean. The food was fresh, well presented and tasty. The drinks, cold! Words can't sufficiently explain how wonderful The Sands complex and location can make a Barbados vacation

  • 1/5 Francesco F. 1 year ago on Google
My fiancĆ© and I travelled to the Sands Hotel in February for 7 days. In the 20 + years of travelling to the Caribbean I can say this is the worst hotel Iā€™ve ever stayed at. The problem is that this hotel misses on delivering the fundamentals. Here are a few examples. 1. The Room: Not the room we thought we booked. It was small, no balcony, not even a window for natural light. I actually think this room was just a spare bedroom for one of their other suites. The bed was a double and mattress lopsided. the smoke detector had a bright white flashing light that resembled a strobe light while I was trying to sleep. There was also no hair dryer or folding stand to put my suitcase on. The shower was so small that it was hard to bend over and wash my feet. Iā€™m 6 feet tall. I donā€™t know how the hotel can have the audacity to classify this as a room. Itā€™s not even listed on their website. 2. The Beach: Arguably the most important part of a hotel in the Caribbean was covered in sea weed. Both on the sand and in the water. Understanding of course the hotel canā€™t control the ocean they could at least rake a path to the water. We left the resort and found some of the nicest beaches Iā€™ve ever seen all within a 15 min walk of the hotel. 3. Amenities and service: It was extremely difficult to get a beach towel they never seemed to have any. This was the same for regular bath towels, in the 7 days we were there we got fresh bath towels twice, and I had to go to the house keeping office and ask for them. There is only one bar, the servers were nice but wait times are long at times. Staff donā€™t bus tables and all the glasses are washed by hand, so not sure how clean they can actually be. There is really only one restaurant to use as their other restaurant can only be booked once per week. Food was good but we found much better food off the resort at very reasonable prices. The people who worked at the hotel were all very nice but then again every Bajan we met on and off the resort were some of the nicest people Iā€™ve ever met. I also spotted the GM and other hotel managers trying to fish for positive reviews at check out which may explain the number of positive reviews on Trip Advisor. I highly recommend Barbados, just not this hotel. Save your money donā€™t stay at this resort and no matter what, make sure you leave your hotel to explore the island. Itā€™s totally safe and worth it.

If you come to Barbados, donā€™t come to stay in Sands Barbados! The room was awful with frosted window, like a prison room. They said itā€™s a super saver room!! The corridors were dirty and unkept. Room just had a double bed, hardly any space to walk. The staff look meserable, and the food was just god awful!! Just a small eating area for all meals. Overall a zero star experience.

  • 1/5 N. A. 1 year ago on Google
I only find one word for that hotel, disappointing! If you consider to stay here longer than a night, donā€™t. First the pros: - it has a roof thatā€™s not leaking - you have fresh water in your room, necessarily not hot but at least water - electricity works - windows are made with glass and you can look thru - the beach is sandy Now to the negative points: My wife, my 2 years old daughter and me spent time over new year for one week. Our booking was for 3 persons. I expected to have a bed for my daughter, that was provided a night later. The regular bed is a twin, so you can imaging how restful a night with a toddler in between you and your wife is. Hot water did not work. The food is the worst thing. The breakfast has no varieties nor a good selection. We started buying food at the local grocery for the breakfast. The lunch / pool snack is even worse. Burger is a unseasoned piece of meat waste in a bun. No sauce, no garnish nothing. The fries are sloppy and also unsalted. The drinks are so soā€¦if you like to get instantly hammered itā€™s your option. If you like taste and good cocktails, thatā€™s not your place. The bartenders are more like a bunch of teenagers who mix everything with the ups factor. Dinner goes hand in hand with Lunch. Same thing, same bad quality. If you are late, you might ending up getting just left overs. We went at 8:30 pm and some dishes were not refilled nor available. We decided to go outside for dinner. Best decision ever. One recommendation at this point is the Castaway. They proof you get tasty and good food on Barbados. The drink and food selection in general is very poor. No expresso or other coffee (just filter coffee aka dirty water w/o taste), no sparkling wine / champagne, only local brands for spirits (pack enough ibuprofen), no Coke Zero, could keep going. Last but not least, the staff proofed that they can do better. On New Yearā€™s Eve the dinner was pretty good and in a high quality standard. I am wondering why it would be so hard to provide that during a regular day.

The sands is an absolutely beautiful hotel. We spent our honeymoon with them after over a year of delays due to Covid and it was totally worth the wait. Our room was 2 floors, with a living room area downstairs and a terrace then a bedroom and bathroom upstairs with a balcony. The pool area is lovely and the beach is beautiful and just a stones throw from the pool. the staff were amazing, nothing was too much for them. Keemar, who worked in the entertainment area of reception was incredibly helpful with any trips we needed to book and brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne to congratulate us on our wedding. Kianne worked in the restaurant and was a delightful friendly face each evening at dinner and was always so happy to see us and chat about our day. Rodeisha also worked in the restaurant and was very helpful and friendly and always ensures we had our wine topped up and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend the hotel which is also only a short walk into St Lawrence gap which is great for a mini bar crawl or a change of scenery at dinner, and is a short taxi ride to oistins fish fry, which ca be organised through keemar, and to Bridgetown. We will definitely return!

The sands, part of the Mango Bay group (only hotels owned by a Barbadian) was a really good choice. It was close to the airport, shops and more importantly, the ocean. The rooms were cleaned daily and everything was fresh. ALL the staff were friendly, happy and couldnā€™t do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble. On our arrival Monica told us ā€˜No Stress, youā€™re on holiday, enjoy itā€™. And on the whole, we did. The food was pretty good and the bar had a more than reasonable selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, all inclusive. Isabelle, from the Guest activities was wonderful. We joined in her pool body toning class on 3 occasions and really enjoyed it. Isabelle also runs yoga classes for guests(again, all inclusive) and wants to add other healthy activities to help us enjoy life and strengthen our core! Noir restaurant on the 5th floor, available to all inclusive guests once per week, was superb One gripe for me is that I am bird phobic so the general restaurant, ā€˜on the waterā€™ became a problem very quickly and I was unable to eat breakfast or lunch there. Fortunately my sister was able to bring meals back to our rooms so I didnā€™t go hungry. Obviously the birds were not around after dark so dinner was fine. Final moan is that there seems to be nowhere for guests who have checked out by noon, but whose flight is not til late in the evening,to enjoy the sun and pool etc and then get changed for the airport closer to their departure time. All in all a great place, thoroughly recommended

As a whole a very disappointing experience. The only bar & restaurant is outside under a canopy, drinks are watered down & a very limited selection & there is a serious issues with flies. Rooms are not very clean, dirty under the beds, beds made but sheets not changed. A very basic hotel, basic food, basic rooms & a very basic layout. Left early as we just couldnā€™t take anymore. Staff were helpful & friendly. 3 star at very best.

Spent two weeks at the Sands, the accommodation was quite spacious - lounge area with kitchen and upstairs bedroom and onsuite bathroom, big balcony with sun lounge.

No experienced bartenders on staff. Just kids trying a thing. Drinks were poor. In all my life I have never seen a margarita separate into 3 different colours. I couldn't stand it. DO NOT COME HERE FOR DRINKS!
