No hot water, leaking roof, no towels, loud AC Room 3615 We arrived and there was no hot water, we spoke to reception. Maintenance came out claimed to fix it. Still no hot water. I reported this 3 times. It rained while we were here, Water leaked in from the ceiling onto the bed and into the sitting area. I had to move the bed at one in the morning to stop it from getting wet. I reported this to reception in the morning, they did nothing. This building is tired and in need of some serious renovation. I overheard many other guests having similar problems. Finally, we used our room towels to try and contain the rainwater leaking into the room. These towels were never replaced after contacting reception and housekeeping proximally six times throughout the day from 11 o’clock till nine at night we still had no towels. I went to reception after 9 at night and the receptionist just handed me the phone to someone who asked if I wanted beach towels. I then had to give the phone back so that the receptionist could get the towels. If this was an option the whole time why make it so difficult to fix. It’s about 60/40 whether or not you’ll get a supper helpful person or someone who should never interact with a guest. Some large dust clumps and black mould in the rooms didn’t help Positives: good food and restaurants and the grounds are pretty, the pool in the room was great also. I would not recommend. For such an expensive property I would have expected much more. I travel regularly for work and this stay has not been a relaxing one. Very disappointed Hilton should evaluate this relationship. Invest in its infrastructure and remove unfriendly/unhelpful staff. This property has such potential.

I wanted to like this place more than I did - it’s a beautiful resort in a picture perfect location with delicious rum punches as a welcome gift. The quality of our room, and the service responses at nearly every turn were simply subpar. Getting the basics right would dramatically improve the experience. I’m hoping that the management will actually read this review (since I never managed to actually speak to anyone who cared in person…): - communication is terrible. The AC in our unit wasn’t functioning properly all week. I called on Tuesday - by Thursday afternoon, the only thing they’d told me was they wouldn’t fix it before I left. Nothing else - just they wouldn’t fix it. Guest relations manager was supposed to call me. Never did. When I went to the desk to speak with her, I waited 30 minutes and then she came out and said she had to meet another guest first. - it took two days to refill shampoo and shower gel after we’d used them up - ATM was consistently refusing to accept debit cards - we tried multiple from multiple banks - appliances in the room worked intermittently. Ice maker takes forever to make more ice (like two days for one batch) - everything is overpriced. I expected that given location, but with all the service foibles surrounding the high prices, it just didn’t feel worth it - many other misses that I won’t try to list exhaustively here Everyone working at the resort was very nice. They just seem either overwhelmed with keeping up with a poorly maintained property or poorly trained in the basics of resort service. Whatever it is, we are leaving disappointed that our guest experience was poor overall in spite of a prime location and beautiful scenery.

The people working at the resort were very nice and tried to accomodate. It is not their fault that the property needs many updates and repairs. our air conditioning did not work. We had to move to another room. It was off in this room as well and we were told it was resort-wide. Water was off in the resort one night. Could not sit on patio on chairs as the cushions were full of pigeon droppings. Patio floor was full of pigeon droppings. Lounge chair on roof top terrace was broken. Pool had not been cleaned as you could see footprints all over bottom and sides. Pipe broke under sink in kitchen, water all over floor. Many of the HGVC members we spoke to shared the same experiences. Unfortunately, we will not return. The resort is not up to Hilton standards. Bad experience from day one until the very end of our vacation.

Beautiful Resort! Although it was 85-90% booked, we never felt crowded. It often seemed like a private getaway! Restaurants were great -- especially the grilled Mahi at the The Groove Beach BBQ! Shout out to Ryan! And Zen was spectacular. We loved our room - ocean view and 28 foot private pool! Cannot wait to visit again.

This is an amazing resort with so many amenities and restaurants and has its own beach. Super convenient for families and kids. Also has a kids club. Close to the airport and easy to reach Bridgetown. The rooms are huge and well maintained. There are 3 pools and a spa too.

Great property; loved the beach; food was very good; staff was friendly. The fitness center; however, is a total dud; the equipment was old and dilapidated and there were "out of order" signs attached to multiple pieces of equipment. A sauna and steam room would be nice additions.

Don't stay here, my bed had MOLD from a leak in the AC and it leaked on my clothes. I got a headache and sore throat in just a few hours of being in the room. It took 3 hrs to get moved. In my new room the shower was cold water pressure is bad, the AC didn't work so I was moved again. I had to ask for towels, shampoo and it came ONE DAY later. No shade to block out the hallway light, had to make a shade with my clothes to sleep.

I enjoyed the garden pool. The bed is very high, might be suitable to somebody who is 160 cm above. There are no washable slippers in the room. One toilet roll only for three guests. There is no hair dryer. I requested for three extra bath towels, it took an hour before it was delivered to my room. The restaurants have long waiting time before food is served and quality of food is just average. The lift to and from the beach is not working.

We traveled as a family of 6, all adults. We had a wonderful time at the resort, great view of the ocean with our own pool. There were just a few minor problems in our room but nothing that would spoil our trip plus the Crane is an old resort. We can not say enough of the staff who were extremely friendly and warm…Barry from the pool, Robyn from restaurants, Jeff in charge of guest relations manager and Kadeem our bell service guy. You give “off good vibes, you get it back in return”!

We found the Crane/HGV resort staff extremely courteous, professional and willing to go extra miles to ensure our needs were met!! We loved attending the Manager’s treat as well as Bar BQ dinner with the live music band at the beach!!

Please be advised that I'm not being compensated to rate the Crane Hotel a ( good) 4-star review, as stated by another reviewer. March 20- 24, 2023, my husband and I visited Barbados for the first time. We loved the beauty, charm, and the "non chain affiliation" of the Crane hotel because of the old school and very rich historic vibe that resides here. This was a very relaxing 4 night stay where we did not experience any maintenance problems with our AC, etc. Our biggest problem was getting our ironing board replaced, which was rectified expeditiously. Our room was located at the Residences in the Park, where nicely appointed with a pool, gazebo with a table to seat 4, 2 lounge chairs, and 2 additional patio chairs that could use some minor attention from the bottom portion of the construction of them. There was a full kitchen, granite backsplash, granite countertops seating for 2, stackable washer and dryer, living room with flat screen TV, and master bedroom with flat screen tv, 2 night tables, desk and chair. In bathroom a blow dryer, lighted make up mirror was provided, and iron and full size ironing board located in the closet in the hallway. All other amenities and/or furniture were functional, well-kept, and nicely managed. The decor and design of the room were aesthetically pleasing, clean, and comfortable. However, if I could recommend a suggestion, I would upgrade to bigger luxurious showers with quality showerheads comparable to other luxury hotels! We enjoyed the food, especially the local specialties ( flying fish, Marlin). The L'Azure and their staff ended up being our favorite and the most frequented. However, the food was a bit pricy. $$$ Overall, most of the Crane staff were friendly and accommodating. Others were severely lacking. However, I would like to give Zara from Columbia Emeralds a special shout-out for her outstanding service!!! She went over and above to provide customer satisfaction. Please be advised that if you are staying in the Residence the Park, you may encounter visitation from monkeys. At first, we saw one on our patio, then there five. We believe it was because there was a banana tree near the pool area. The monkeys only appeared for one day, and in that area. So I appreciate that they gave us more of the timeshare to enjoy the private pool and our space. Beach lovers, please be advised that a massive influx of Seaweed has taken over Crane Beach. However, as a courtesy, the hotel is providing transportation (and beach towels) to another location for guests to enjoy the beach for the day. Book early for the spa. Reservations fill easily. I was unable to book even upon 1st day of arrival. I'm unsure if it was because of the time of year in which we traveled, but I was elated that this resort was not overpopulated. There were never any long lines to contend with regarding dining at any time of the day. Never felt like people were on top of you by invading your personal space. Especially if you still have concerns about social distancing such as myself. The views are breathtaking. If you want to relax, bring your spouse, significant other, and just come to do just that. This is the right place for you. 🇧🇧 Scorpion Transportation ( prepaid service) did not pick up upon departure. (As contracted) However, the Crane had taxis available on site. The cost to the airport was $22 US dollars for 2 passengers.

I am a HGV Club member and the Crane is my home location so I REALLY wanted this trip to work out. My wife and I travel frequently, and we've been to avg. to very high end resorts and vacation spots and this has been probably the most mixed I've been concerning a resort review. I gave this resort a 3 star rating when it could have been a 5 and it could have just as easily been a 1. It probably deserves a 2 but again…I REALLY WANT this to work out. I want to be constructive, and I hope the General Manager reads this review and responds. First for the positive: Margaret, Errol and Joan were great. Very service forward and responsive. The infrastructure of the resort is beautiful and well designed. The room DESIGN was top notch. (Although could use a little updating but not a showstopper) Now for the constructive criticism: My wife and I spent 7 nights in a ocean view deluxe room and three of those nights the air-condition DID NOT WORK. Was unable to call and get thru to Engineering and the front desk so I eventually went down on multiple occasions to launch a complaint but the issue was NEVER resolved. It was so bad one night my wife almost slipped and fell in the middle of the night because it was so clammy and so much condensation buildup on the floor. (LEGAL NIGHMARE IF SOMEONE HURTS THEMSELVES) OUT OF ALL OF MY CONCERNS THIS IS THE BIGGEST. THIS IS CLOSE TO A SHOWSTOPPER. MUST ADDRESS AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOMS. I SPOKE with other guest in my building and we all had identical complaints. Overall service was NOT GOOD. This isn’t personal because the people were nice but REALLY REALLY NEED some TRAINING on customer service. A resort of this caliber with the money it commands per night should afford its customers FAR better service than is currently being given. Service is lacking in EVERY area of the resort. Restaurants (except the ZEN….they got their act together), front desk, even check in could have been better. Prompt and being responsive is a must. The people weren’t rude but wasn’t inviting either. Oftentimes, I felt they could take or leave our concerns or service needs. Although the resort design and infrastructure is great the resort needs some TLC. There is black mold/mildew on most of the stone walls, and the grounds and this needs to be washed off and maintained. Secondly, the pools were a little cloudy. (There was allot of rain this particular week which could have contributed but still….) General store and coffee shop needs to be better stocked. There was enough to function, but just enough. Speaking of the pool, one day one of the grounds guys was cutting branches off some coconut trees in the pool area and was doing this work FAR TO CLOSE TO guests at the pool. The branches came very close to hitting guests that were lounging in the area. Again, TRAINING and awareness need to be taken into account. This work took place around 11am to around 1pm. The work should have been done earlier that morning. I hope this helps and I will attempt to visit again and hope Management takes this review into account. By reading other reviews, I’m not the first to launch these issues.

I've recently became a Hilton Owner earlier this year and the Crane was my wife and I 1st vacation as owner's. In all honesty, I'm very disappointed. The hospitality of the staff there was very pleasant and that's a plus, but our huge disgruntlement is the cockroach problem. We've found cockroaches in the refrigerator and crawingling across the floors in the kitchen and hallway area. I brought it to the attention of someone from the staff who knocked on the door inquiring about our check-in, but nothing else was ever said or done for us about our issue. My wife and I just dealt with the issue the best way we seen fit. It's definelty not the experience we were expecting and I also feel an issue like this should be handled with better care when accommodating guests. I took this extra personal being that I'm paying into ownership!

The private pool villa was great with amenities included. However, the check in of 4pm and checkout of 10 am is abit too early which makes it not worth for the price of the room you paid for. No flexibility over checkout. The shops are nice if you need something but everything was overpriced. The staffs in the concierge were nice but the one’s in the bar were not very approachable and a bit rude.

The Crane is one of the best places we have been. It is at the end of the island and on a cliff surrounded by lush gardens and beautiful pools. We went in October. It was rainy on some days, unusually hot and some days windy windy but the people that work at the Crane just make everyting worth the trip. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean view with an infinity pool. When we read the reviews there were a good many complaints but we decided to "see for ourselves" and make the best of our vacation anyway. People have to understand that "Mother Nature" can make thing good or bad at times and it is not the fault of the resort and the staff. They do everything they could possible do to make things perfect for you. We LOVED it there and we will be back every year!

People won't believe what you read online, this hotel is neither new nor newly opened… the complex itself is very nice, the beach is also super nice, the rooms are brutally rustic and as I said, it doesn't smell particularly good in the room, it's musty, it's not pleasant. Unfortunately the bed is also very uncomfortable and overall not a hotel for me..

Overall all the reviews to-date seem to be pretty accurate. The staff was mostly friendly, though some were quiet and kept to themselves, or acted "put out" that they had to service us. But others were overly friendly and really went out of their way for us. The seaweed on the beach was definitely a problem, but that was true for ALL eastside islands. They were working on a "floating retaining wall" to keep it out to sea, but hadn't finished before we left, so don't know if the solution will work--but at least they are trying! Had some AC issues the last few days we were there, but we seemed to get enough cool air that it didn't affect us too much. They definitely tried to work quickly on that as well. We were told by many locals that it was unusually hot this early in the summer (1st wk. of June), so maybe that impacted the systems. We also had the wonderful Caribbean breeze that was pretty constant, so that helped with the heat A LOT; and it's one thing that I will very much miss! One person mentioned NO Hot Water. That is true--it was just luke-warm, and is the one thing that really bothered me. Even in hot peak summer months, I live for my hot soothing showers, and did not get that here! I wish they would look into that! Food was decent, but WAY EXPENSIVE! I know it's an island so supply costs will be more, but it seemed random on the charges. Drinks (even non-happy hour prices) were equal to US prices, and most dinners were just slightly above average, but then we got hit with $20 burgers, and a breakfast buffet of $40/ea. for what consisted of mostly just scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and fruit (some of it canned, no less!). I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND the turtle diving catamaran tour with Cool Runnings, best bang & service for your buck on the island! I think the thing that bothered us the most was when we arrived we found out that Hilton does not actually own the property, even with the Diamond merger, and they only have access to certain rooms on the property. Yes they were mostly all Ocean Views, but they were 2nd floor views, and not the upper floors that we expected when booking! Overall our group of 4 were glad we went, we had a good time, but for the cost and what you got, we would probably not go back again. I do recommend that everyone that is able, to at least try it once--maybe just not in the summer months, or Christmas because they say that is their busiest time!

5th visit- Great experience as always. Notable detail-- if travelling from Canada, shops/restaurants carry two types of pin-pads as some are not compatible with some CAN banks (or at least RBC). Make sure to ask for the ones that say Scotiabank if your transaction says declined / not approved.

Bring your own towels and bath supplies. It’s next to impossible to get pre if you got any. The ac, dishwasher,… broken. Mosquitoes will keep you company all night no matter what. 1/2 the staff are rude, which seems on par for the island as a whole. Family and myself got the feeling that that this is race based.

The facility was built in 1887, lots of stuff is old. We had water leak from the kitchen ceiling in our 1st night. We had to move twice on our 2nd day. We spent afternoon and early evening doing nothing but moving. In the 3rd place we stayed, no hot water either (thx goodness they fixed it next day). The AC was not adjustable, only cold or off. The ice maker in the fridge was not working. We complained but they ignored. We had no energy to move again (also nothing available). One day, the housekeeper forgot to leave the clean towels after taking away the dirty ones. It took us 2 calls to get new towels delivered after over 1hr. We will not go back to The Crane for sure. The location is very rural. But all the staff we met were very nice, tried to help as much as they could. The resort is clean and pretty.

This is a hidden gem... I actually didn't want to write a review cause I wanted to keep this place a dark secret...and all to myself...but I was taught to share the blessings and the fruits of my labor.. This hotel and island as a whole is amazing.. From the bell hop staff the beach staff and everyone in between... every thing and every one was definitely on point.. I had a issue with my room the a/c was not working and no one else knew what to do so the referred me to a young lady by the name of Joan F.and she took very good care of me...(Hear this loud and clear)...Not only did she fix the problem but upgraded my room to a 1 bedroom suite with a roof top pool..(yes I am a diamond member with hilton and a owner) But never the less, she did right by me.. Yes I have already started to look for flights back to Barbados especially with this hotel.. Food was good, Drinks were good ,the view was amazing...and to top it all off and one of the best highlights of my trip I saw a New York Knick alumni (Herb Williams) at breakfast...we chopped it up for a minute then he kept it moving.. Amazing pools Not crowded at all Virtually no kids as to the fact they were back in school.. Definitely will be back to this place next year September... Oh I forgot one last thing ...guys you have to try the award winning restaurant Zen.. People come from all over the world and the island come eat here.. Amazing food. This hotel the Crane is, Nothing short ot a 9 star hotel/resort..!!!

I enjoyed my room very much we had a private pool so I was able to fully relax and also get away from everyone and disconnect. The room was very clean. It was nice to have house keeping come every day to make beds and give fresh towels. The one thing I did recognize was the water you get from the fridge could have mold in it because the hose was so dirty when I checked it with a clean q-tip. So we just bought bottle water. Also it took forever to get food. We had dinner one night and it took an hour just for our appetizers. Then another hour for the entrees. We had a total of 4 people and it wasn't very busy so couldn't understand. We did drinks one night at the bar and drinks came out in a timely manner but 2 orders of wings and 1 order of nachos took about an hour. After this we were turned off.The food is only average there and nothing special. We did enjoy the breakfast buffet only cause the food was done and we was able to serve ourselves. I highly recommend going to LA shack down the street food is amazing and service is excellent! Wasn't able to enjoy the beach due to the seaweed issue.

The Crane, The oldest resort in Barbados, has character and a rich history, it’s distinctive and beautiful… provided a wonderful setting for our Holiday vacation. We enjoyed our time there very much and will cherish our memories of this time for years to come!

The hotel is very nice, great rooms, good bedding, good food, amazing views and people are great. Depending on the purpose of the visit I wouldn't recommend for young adults or families with teens. If the hotel would be on west cost, it would be a 5, but its a 3 due to: waves on beach are quite strong, tremendous amount of seaweed comes up on beach, no music at pool or beach, no sports supplies at beach (balls, boogie boards), insufficient room at casual sitting area for drinks, restaurants booked solid and a reservation is needed days ahead. But the main problem is that its too quiet. If you like quiet, this hotel is for you. If you want to be with people, dance, drink, snorkel and party even 1-2 nights, this hotel is not it. Lastly, Covid protocols in Barbados are a little over the top. You can't get on the island without testing or quarantining. I found people corrected you if you weren't wearing a mask properly, but their coworkers had a pass, a few feet away. I personally don't care about masks, but at least make it consistent, or drop the requirements on the island.

Facing the ocean on the 4th floor, keeping the balcony doors open all night, with the ocean breeze blowing over our bed, and the sounds of the waves lulling us to sleep - absolutely heavenly. Our balcony was roomy and so private - just us and the ocean! :)

Really great place to vacation. Super chill and relaxed atmosphere. The facilities are aging and the staff does a good job of keeps everything fixed up. We would definitely come back to The Crane.

The property is located on the se side of the island, ideal if you just want to kick back and relax. If you want to be near a lot more activity and cleaner beaches go to the east side around The Gap/Carlisle Bay area. While we were there it suffered badly from sagassum,(no fault of the island) so the beautiful beach could not be used much. The Crane could do with some much needed TLC externally(it is being done at Bajan speed) pools needed some repairs and cleaning. Service wise the staff were very polite and helpful.

Having experienced high quality HGVC facilities at Orlando and Hawaii (Big Island, Kings' Land) we were optimistic about The Crane at Barbados. We did not face any issues like bed bug, air conditioning etc. The rooms were large and clean. Hotel staff were nice and very helpful. Resort itself was big and enjoyable. Crane beach, which is owned by the resort, can be accessed only by resort guests. There were sea weeds but they were cleaned consistently by the resort staff. We were able to enjoy the abundant sun and the beauty of the Atlantic ocean. You get great food and beverages. There is no restaurant and stores outside of the resort but we get everything within the resort. Resort itself is away from all the hustles and bustles of the crowded city life. Please note that all other resorts are on the other side of the island (western) facing the Caribbean Sea. That is an added advantage for this resort. Very close to the airport, just a 10 minute drive. We did not rent a car but that was good in a way as we were able to spend quality time at the resort. I highly recommend HGVC owners to try this out. Great value for your money.

Beyond words how great their treatment of guests is. Pure happiness is everywhere. Everything you need is here, the general store has anything and everything you need. The restaurants are amazing and reasonable. The associates here are friendly and have a happy greeting no matter what time of day. Beach is clean but don't expect bathtub warm water lol

We had a great time at the Crane. Staff was very helpful and accommodating to all our needs. The room was super, the largest one room facility we have ever stayed in. The private pool was exceptional (although we had some neighbors who like to play their music loud on their patio - but turned it down when asked). Very good restaurants with good variety. Ricky's Taxi service gave us transportation to and from the airport and took us on a private tour of the island at a reasonable price. We would highly recommended all of this and are planning on going back.

The staff was wonderful. Resort is dated with some delayed maintenance. Bring your own pillow, you will need it. Had a great vacation, just don't expect a 5 star resort. Beach was nice but a bit rough.

A dip in luxury! Lovely service, clean surroundings, comfy bed and a personal pool! It was a suite fit for a queen. It was 10 minutes from the airport and had everything you would require in the facility! Looking forward to my return!

Stayed at this incredible place for a week. It did not disappoint. The 2 bedroom suite we had also had a pool and gazebo for our own private use. The staff was friendly and so helpful. The facilities along with the beach & pools were well maintained and the restaurants (we tried all of them) were so good. The property was beautiful. We had the best time.
