Once again very disappointed with this place! Broken window duct taped but sharp glass still exposed. Dont rent leanto number 5. Broken door shock, broken window and they dont clean these what so ever yet make us wait 3 hours to check in from 12-3.Takes a lot to have me write this bad review to say the least. Bathrooms are gross!! From mold/mildew in the showers to whatever the green stuff is on the walls which appears to be a chemical stain. Handicapped bathroom shower stall has broken tiles, missing tiles, missing seat, the green stuff on the walls and a smashed in wall as well as one light has no bulb the other light in there was hanging out of ceiling and didnt work. Only one sink out of 3 works and someone either cleaned dishes or threw up into it as well as it backing up. Been going here since a small kid and Im 40 now and this is heart breaking. Takes little effort to power wash or clean even once a week. Such an amazing state park but not cleaning the facilities is disgusting and disappointing. I really hope this place decides to change their ways and yes Im aware that covid restrictions, understaffed etc etc are a thing but still. Clean your place up!! Sincerely Karen 😝

Campground was nice and clean, relatively quite. I will say though the restrooms were pretty gnarly, so im glad we bring our own.

I enjoyed my visit to Bass River State Forest. I took my kayak out on Lake Absegami and hiked on the Orange trail. Lake Absegami was scenic and peaceful. There were a lot of water plants and turtles present. The trail was interesting, as well, with many large pines along the way.

Beautiful park in the middle of nowhere. This one has a serious remote feel to it. Be aware of your surroundings. The trails are well marked but you can still get turned around.

First time visit!! We had an incredible experience at this camping place! The serene surroundings, well-maintained facilities, and attentive staff made for an unforgettable stay. The campsites were spacious and private, offering the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Waking up to the sounds of chirping birds and the rustling leaves was truly rejuvenating. Good trails for kids. Whether you're a seasoned camper or a newbie like me, this place has something for everyone. We can't wait to return and immerse myself in the beauty of nature once again!

There's many areas of bass river state forest, they're amazing and beautiful. The Edwin B4 signs wildlife preserve is amazing. It's off of the bass river state worst. If you want to sit and relax and watch birds and the world go by. It's an amazing place I know. I've said amazing 4 times it's just who I am.

Love Joe’s trial. Beautiful view and perfect trail for the kids and the dog. However, major major tick warning!!! We went last year around this time and my dog got a tick. It’s a forest, so no big deal, it happens. However, we went yesterday and were fully covered head to toe with clothing. I went to check my kids at shower time about 6 hours after the hike and there were literally ticks EVERYWHERE. Some attached, and some literally crawling on them. I left their jackets in the car and can’t even imagine how many ticks are all over my car. We stayed on the trial and were extra vigiliant because of last year. It is important to note that we go hiking almost every weekend and never have had an issue like this. We love this trail, but unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

The state needs to update playgrounds and bathrooms. Campsites are clean and the Rangers are very friendly

An amazing place to learn about the Pine Barrens and local environment! Lizards, birds, bugs, mammals… you name it. The trails aren’t usually too busy so it’s a nice place for a date or just a more private walk in the woods. Various trails for different needs as well, and maps are provided at the office. Notably, they have a working payphone which is a rare sight these days!

The campsite was wonderful. There was a lot of space to set up your tent, even multiple tents, if you go to the tent site and not the others like group camp, cabin, etc. The individual points we well organized, the rules were sensible and there is a garbage collector van that comes every morning to take your garbage bags. There was not much wildlife to be seen, but we might have gone there in the off season. You can get firewood for $5 or $8 when you enter the inner road for the campsite. Walmart and other convenience stores are not too far away. The staff is very friendly and understanding as well. They get your work done within minutes if not seconds. I am very happy overall.

Part of several state parks in the protected Pine Barrens of NJ. So much of the land is over a natural aquifer that feeds the area and other states. You can bike or walk for miles in silence with only the bird sounds and the occasional deer to cross your path. Bring bug spray (the good stuff)
