Villa Farm Shop and Cafe

Cafe Farm shop

👍👍 We popped in for breakfast and it was great, good value and really friendly staff. Table in the courtyard and we had our choice of sun or shade. Fresh water for the dog and a good steady stream of people going to the shop. Travelling north to Durham we came off the M62 at J24 and rejoined at J25. 5* People often mention cafe, farm, good, friendly, shop, time, staff, ordered, cake, visit,

The food here is delicious but the service is shocking Saturday when 6 tables already eating inside. A couple arrived before me and ordered one bacon sandwich and tea for two. I ordered a toasted tea cake and a latte. Dear at £7.95 - it was only after I’d paid that I realised that they’d ordered my a flat white - instead of white americano(which would’ve been cheaper) when you sit outside you have to pay in advance ! One couple came in after me and went inside Three servers front of house. Coffee arrived after 15 minutes. The couple who ordered the bacon butty went to look for it after 30 minutes and found it waiting to be delivered on the shelf near the kitchen. After 40 minutes I went to look for my toasted tea cake.I think this amount of time waiting for a toasted tea cake is ridiculous- especially with the number of staff serving and very few customers waiting for food. And it was served to me after a further 7 minutes. No apologies for the time taken- makes you think they feel almost an hour to wait for a toasted teacake is acceptable? By this time it had arrived I’d already finished my coffee. So what I was wanting was a pleasant breakfast - and now it was disjointed and I was frustrated due to the chaos of delivery to the table.. This is not the first time I’ve had delayed service here- it’s my third and final visit . Felt like customers aren’t a priority but can’t think what is ?

This company sell eggs which they claim are produced on their own farm. But although sold in boxes stating they are Class A eggs there is no stamp on the eggs themselves to indicate if they are battery, barn or free range. This is illegal. No response from them when I emailed to ask about their hen welfare - what a surprise. Reported to trading standards.

The wife and I stopped for lunch here purely by chance and would struggle to fault it. The service was a bit slow but unsurprising given that we ordered beef dinners. Personally I would prefer to wait for something that has been well cooked rather than your all too common reheated offerings. There was also a very nice array of cakes that would test your self control. If there was a fault i would suggest they could be trying to hard, my ice cream banana milk shake came nicely presented with chocolate sauce - I don't like chocolate sauce. Fortunately for them I hate waste even more otherwise I would have sent it back. The farm shop is very small but I did notice that it seemed to do a reasonable trade.

This was my first visit, I was surprised how full it was. Every table had groups of people talking away and obviously enjoying the company and cafe. The waitress who opened the door for me was so friendly, she even brought me a chair to sit on until a table became available. I didnt have to wait long and offered to share the table with a lovely man until my cousin arrived. We enjoyed coffee and cake and a great catch up chat. I would give full marks to the Villa Farm Shop cafe. It had everything you need for a lovely time with friends. And apparently all the delicious food is made in the cafe kitchen. I can recommend the cheesecake.

This is one of Huddersfield's jewels and a true Yorkshire rose. A clean, comfortable and friendly farmhouse cafe where unadulterated fresh farm food of the highest quality is served unassumingly. Breakfast, lunches and light snacks are served with hot and cold drinks including beers. All the food is home made. The ambience is warm, relaxed and cosy ensuring a regular local following. Although there is a menu you can mix and match. It's now so busy that lunch time tables need to be booked in advance. There is farmshop next door and a working farm.

Excellent little find.Clean, tidy and busy. Always a good sign. I didn't know what to have for this evening's dinner and whilst driving home this afternoon I saw this farm shop. Called in and bought some leeks, red potatoes, pork, maple and chilli sausage and a few apples (which were itemised as grapes but soon rectified, ha ha ha). Dinner was sorted this evening with just those few ingredients and some store cupboard additions from home.... A Bangers, 2 lentil and butter bean mash pie with green beans and baby carrots. Will definitely be coming here again.

Lovely little cafe. Brilliant breakfast and Bacon sandwich. Then went next door to the shop. Butcher was fantastic. From Yorkshire originally I'd come in from Lincolnshire and was amazed to find tomato sausage which was lovely. Also beef short ribs and Barnsley chops. What a brilliant find. Everything wonderful and very reasonable. Just wish I lived closer. Thank you to everyone there. Xx any chance of delivery to Barton on humber?

Popped in today with my mum. We had drinks/cake and everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly, the tables were clean, and there was a very pleasant ambience. Really reasonably priced with a good choice of options on the menu. Will definitely be returning.

Really good range of produce, including some we haven't seen elsewhere. Haven't tried the cafe yet but it's on the list. Second visit, we got to the cafe this time. A fair choice and we really enjoyed what we had. Third visit, food and service still really good. 👍🏻

Small but well stocked, Manchester tarts were beautiful, took me right back to school 50 years ago. Pork sausages were also excellent. Tray of 30 medium eggs great value.

The Guinness Ale and Steak pies are the best pies around. Good size and plenty of quality filling. Allows them to just sneak it in a contest with their sausage rolls. Our first visit, but not the last.

A very nice ecosystem where you can buy meat and local products. The cafe of the farm shop itself has an attractive design and friendly staff, and on top of everything, a perfect English breakfast under a tenner. In the farm shop, local products are well organized, such as meat, ice cream, gin, wine, bread, sandwiches, etc.

Great selection of Artisan products. Been going here for years. BUTCHERY IS THE BEST PART. Bought 7 fresh meats and the quality is tops. The staff in butchery are great.

Went here for lunch today, there was 4 of us. Two of us ordered afternoon tea which looked great, different savoury and sweet options. The remaining two ordered a veggie Yorkshire wrap and the Cuban stack sandwich. These were also both really substantial lunches and really tasty. We had a selection of hot drinks which were all good quality. Service was really friendly and, although there was a bit of a wait, we didn't mind as it was reassuringly busy. Nice farm shop cafe ambience and looking forward to going back in to try out some of the other menu options and the farm shop

Made to feel like I was an alien in this place today. The young lady at front greeted me with a smile. Queuing and ordering was painful. There were two tills, guy in front of me was ordering for two families, in the meantime The other server taps here regular customer on the shoulder and says “I’ll serve you on the other till and continued to serve others who were behind me” Asked a waitress if they had Wi-Fi, she seemed annoyed at me for asking her the question. Seconds later her regulars walked in and she smiles…I guess if you don’t fit in you don’t fit in. I can’t change my appearance for if you know what I mean

Called into the Farm Shop for the first time after driving past for the last 10 years or so. Butcher was very friendly and the bacon and sausage were both great quality. The cooked beef however was so over cooked it literally crumbled in my hands when trying to make a sandwich - was like eating dust. I know some people like their beef well done but I'm sure a rare beef option would also sell very well.

Tried a few bits and bobs, their bread and current tea cakes are delicious. Also tried steak pies, and a joint of topside which was good value.

Heard alot of good reviews about this farm shop cafe so thought we would try it out. First impressions seemed lovely clean nice setup. Unfortunately wasn't the warm friendly atmosphere I first thought it was cold and staff unhelpful, food was expensive and we didn't recieve items that were on the menu ( confit tomatoes) The coffee was overpriced and too sweet with the syrup and unenjoyable £3.40 for a small coffee overall not the best experience.

Unfortunately, the cafe closed half an hour before the time shown on Google maps, so I was limited to a take-away tea and cake - tasty but over-packaged, and not so enjoyable in the rain! The farm shop didn’t have much local produce and the wet floor was slippery and lethal.

I ate here on Wednesday 11th May 2022. They have an excellent updated menu which includes cooked food and ice cream milk shakes. Lovely service and the cake and coffee were luxuriously wonderful. 😀

Decided on a breakfast so passing V.F.S. yes give it a go. Service a bit slow but thought it is cooked fresh it will be worth the wait. Value for money i would say not. I have had breakfast at a near supermarket for a lot less and just as good.

It is always busy when I have gone. A very friendly cafe. Unfortunately the last visit the muffin wasn’t toasted and the spinach wasn’t wilted, the poached eggs were superb. They gave me 15% off the bill. It is really worth a visit and they have gorgeous cakes.
