This place will really take you by surprise! I and a few friends took a history/heritage tour a little earlier in the year, and the sheer amount of unexpected stories that this place had to tell was epic! I don't even want to spoil them for you - see if you can go on a tour for yourself! Visiting also means you get to explore Bidston Hill itself, which also has an old lighthouse right next door (which is now a brilliant little book shop and mini museum), a windmill, the Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm, and all of the nature trails on the hill itself. There are even some ancient carvings dotted around the hill.

Great walk and views. Carry on to get to the windmill and loop round to Tom o'shanter Farm. Great for dogs and the hill is a very easy slope.

I use Bidston Hill for running. Pass the observatory all the time. I believe it has open days monthly and so does the windmill which is a short walk away and there's parking by Tom a shanter farm which is great for the children. Can check friends of Bidston Hill website for more information.

Interesting building on Bidston Hill, Birkenhead. It's privately owned, but sometimes has open days.

Pic is the lighthouse in the grounds of the observatory. Lovely little walks around the observatory to take the dogs. Loads of scenic views of Liverpool and Wales. Great little place.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Steeped in history, the hill and the windmill are well worth a visit. There are many ways up but the quickest is from Vyner Road South, and it’s maybe two minutes from road to mill.
