It's only getting a 3 as the window wouldn't close in our room as it was missing a handle to close it with. I informed the reception desk Friday and when we left Sunday it wasn't fixed. The room was nice with comfortable beds, water pressure was bad in the shower and sink. Room was cleaned and towels changed for us which was nice! Pity we couldn't close the window as it was a bit draft during the night as it's mid January! Great location too

Nice cheap hotel near University with nice breakfast buffet. Shortish walk from station. Hotel is fitted into row of terrace houses so rooms are rather strangely shaped but clean and well decorated/maintained. Often cheaper than hotels near the station.

Out of all of the hotels I've stayed in in England, I found that this place had the best breakfast of all. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are quite clean, as well as the rooms (which are a very decent size). Staff are friendly and Helpful. The hotel has a very cosy feel to it, and was nice and warm overnight. Would definitely recommend.

As a hotel it was OK nice staff, room was clean. But about six o'clock in the morning what we though was an alarm started going off but was in fact the radiator screaming at us. Must of been air pressure? Fixed with just a twist of the valve.(pretty sure this was just a one off moment) Breakfast was nice, the dinning rooms were a little to warm with little air circulation though. Other than that price of the place was standard.

Apparently one of the oldest hotels in the city - it shows. No lift and creaky floorboards. The room was clean and was turned over daily but it felt cramped and the window was only single glazed (possibly due to the building being listed). Consequently there was quite a lot of noise, both outside and inside the hotel. On the plus side, it's in a great location - handy for the city centre and universities - the cooked (buffet) breakfast was fantastic and the staff were lovely. On the whole, though, I wouldn't recommend it.

In a good location only 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre & public transport links. The added bonus of private, secured parking for an additional £10 fee (which we were happy to pay) Welcoming reception staff, room was spacious, clean & tidy. You are provided with towels (which is always a help) Only reason I have marked down to 4 stars is in the room we had, there was an quite an annoying thermostat that clicked on & off every half hour! We were out most of the day so that didn’t matter but through the night you were much more aware of it and it’s not exactly quiet. Other than this would definitely stay again. There was an option for breakfast but we opted out so I couldn’t comment.

Loved our stay here. Perfect central location for sightseeing with excellent breakfast to start the day. We were particularly impressed by Keith, the night porter, who showed great awareness and concern over my husband's mobility when we came in late one night, given our room was a fair way upstairs from reception. He recognised possible health and safety issues which we had not really considered in the event of an evacuation and completed the appropriate paperwork should assistance be required. He even offered us an alternative ground floor room. Our room was well appointed, great shower/bath and had everything we needed including an interesting view at the front of the hotel. The car park for which a daily charge applied, but well worth this, was secure and convenient. This hotel appeared to have been recently refurbished and we would definitely return there.

Excellent overnight stay. Good size room and very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with complimentary products. Tea and coffee facilities in Room. Large flat screen TV and docking station. Parking at rear of property. You have to ring the hotel on arrival for them to open the roller shutters and costs £10 a day. I would stay here again and happy to recommend.

I actually quite like this hotel and will certainly happily book there again. This may seem a little peculiar because I do not really have much very good to say about it. The rooms are small and the layout of the corridors and staircases is convoluted and confusing, though that does as an element of charm to the place. I had a succession of minor problems with my room and the facilities, none of which the staff seemed to be able to sort out, but they were always friendly and cheerful. I feel as though all the little problems I had should have annoyed me but they never did. I rather enjoyed my stay. For a city centre hotel the prices were very good and when I am in town working, all I really want is clean, quiet and a decent night's sleep. I got all of those.

Really great value. There are some maintenence issues, but it is clear that the hotel does seem to be renovating with a couple of rooms closed for redecorating. I stayed two nights and I saw two rooms. I had a electric noise issue in the first room but I spoke to the staff and they moved me to another. Both rooms were otherwise nice, with good decor. The building has an unusual layout, lots of long twisty corridors but in some ways adds to its charm. Breakfast was good, a few more cooked Vege options would be appreciated but I did not go hungry by any means. Staff were generally very nice and polite. There is also a pool table, but unfortunately no chalk!

The good points: The staff are excellent, very polite, helpful and friendly. Breakfast had good choice but don't arrive down later than 9.30am because they are quick to clear everything away. Good price for our room, if you just want somewhere to crash out whilst spending time out then this was a good value place to stay. Bad points no lift, our room was an attic one so we were climbing so many stairs. We had to keep stopping to regain our breath. Was told that they can't have a lift installed because it is a listed building. Room needs decorating, especially bathroom, looks very tired, especially ceiling which has black damp showing and grout on tiles are in need of a clean. For the price we paid I'd definitely consider staying there again, good location.

Was disappointed when arrived as foyer was small and a musty smell. Very narrow stairs up to the room which was very shabby and musty smell also. But bedroom though furniture was old was delightful. It was spacious and had no musty smell. Bathroom was newly fitted and spotless. Breakfast was one of the best I had. Very near to centre. Staff very helpful.Value for money and will definitely stay again. So don't go on first impressions.

Close to the station but not too close so our stay was quiet. Staff were brilliant. Room was ok for an overnight stay. Breakfast was brilliant. However, hotel is tired and dated. Needs an overhaul. The group advertise themselves as having fab well equipped hotels. Think they need to look at this one.

Booked and paid in full, arrived in the hotel at 4 (check in starts from 3), Booked this particular hotel only because it’s near University of liverpool and I had work there in the morning. On top of that I prefer to stay in the city centre. After arriving in to the hotel the receptionist said they are over booked and they are going to relocate me to their second branch which is 10 minutes away, I said it’s all good then. If it’s only 10 minutes I was happy to walk. But the receptionist said you don’t have to walk we’ll call a taxi for you and it’s paid. You just need to pay and show the receipt in the reception. After arriving into the hotel. (Even by taxi it took like 20 minutes to arrive) Paid for the taxi, and asked for receipt, the taxi driver said he doesn’t give receipt. That means I have to pay for the taxi from city centre to a place out of nowhere and then again go to the city centre by taxi. On top of all this every time I asked the staffs how it can get over booked as I have paid for the room in full already. They just ignored me.

I stayed here for two nights at this hotel, it was good and i will definitely going to stay here again if i have to visit Liverpool.. I loved the location, service, prices.. Prices are reasonable and bedrooms are clean.. Good service and breakfast(loved the pastry's section) coffee is from a machine but it was also good . This place is quit and it is about 10 min away from the center (walking) After checkout they were happy to hold my bags where i had time to explore the city more❤️ I recommend this place it is excellent ..✅✅

Stayed here for one night. Good location, friendly staff, good breakfast. Rooms were fine, a little shabby round the edges but a comfortable bed. I had an annoying, intermittent dripping noise in my room all night which seemed to be coming from the pipes in the walls. I was also on the ground floor in a slightly odd location at the back of the hotel - a room completely by itself in what seemed a back corridor. But overall a decent budget hotel.

Location is great for commute to town centre if you don't want to be right in the middle of everything. Short walk to both Liverpool Central and Lime Street Stations. Depending on your room location, can be quiet with occasional sounds of traffic or loud with excited students chattering by your window. Decent for the price, building feels a bit old and rustic; however I found the place very clean. I love the array of options for the breakfast and the style of the service; perhaps the best part of the setting!
