Have to be one of the best coffee shops in the City. The flavours of this brew blew me away from the first to last sip! A tucked away little shop but well worth the search. Nice staff & pleasant service. One big problem for me though....don't take cash, so unfortunately, I won't be returning

Really love how hidden the cafe is, it feels like a treasure hunt finding the coffee house 😊 Also love the smell of the coffee and the taste of the croissant :))) I don't like bitter coffee, but I love how the coffee taste together with the chocolate croissant The staff were really nice too despite the busy morning. There was quite a lot of people buying coffee at 8am, but everyone got their coffee relatively fast. I would love to visit again, maybe at a more chill time in the afternoon

If you can pass the test of finding the place, then you deserve your reward - amazing coffee, chill atmosphere and excellent service. Look for the Koala sign in Charlotte St and then a board at the front that says "JMH". Then follow the rabbit hole like Alice until you discover this underground haven.

7th September 2023 — 3/5 Gave the Iced Matcha Latte a go, and it was okay. Would have like a bit more of a stronger matcha taste! 28th August 2023 — 5/5 Amazing coffee, my new go to spot now!

I ordered a flat white and was tasty. The barista seems love to make coffee as I see that with this great cup. I prefer single origin for my coffee and they serve several options. What I like mostly about JMH is the the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Highly recommended for filter and espresso.

Their service and taste of coffee never change♡ It was even better than 2yrs ago. how could be better?! I missed this coffee a lot while I was abroad because of COVID-19. Your coffee made my day pleasant!!! Thank you for staying there. Must try a latte with honey from here! Fabulous!

I sit here on my day off, absorbing the click clack of cup on saucer, lounge chilled beats and squeal of the steamer as it delicately warms the milk. JMH is in full swing, orders are being taken and espresso machine is humming. While waiting for my 6oz Flat white I have time to observe and savour how professional and attentive the staff are. What I really love is to see someone who really loves their craft and is natural and brilliant at it. I didn't even have to see the coffee to know it was going to be amazing. As with a chef a bartender or a barista it's the way they move or don't move that let's you know that they know their craft and are very competent at it. The orders are backing up but the Barista never moves, his body movement is slow but his hands are moving at the speed of light. It's like a choreographed performance of speed, accuracy, deft touch and gentle attention to detail. It's really beautiful to watch his appreciation and love for pouring the perfect cup every single time. As in all good service industry professions what happens behind the bar sets the tone for what is actually placed on the bar/table/coffee cup. These guys are neat, clean and damn organised. JMH is a wonderful spot to come enjoy a slow coffee in a wonderful chill atmosphere.

Hidden down the laneway. This has to be one of my favourite coffee shops in the city. Usually pretty busy but got lucky the morning I visited. Got a dark chocolate mocha with oat milk. It so soooo good!

Love this bar and cafe! Their selection of Australian gin is endless and lots of delicious drink options. Their cocktails are yum 👌🏼 Great coffee during the day and doughnuts on Fridays 😉 Makes perfect coffee everytime! The staff are super nice and friendly too.

Amazing venue, dishing out premium coffee... And also a Passport Hot Chocolate system. It's a great idea to try all the flavors! I love the friendly staff and the quirky hot chocolate flavors. The venue is beautiful outside and in. But it really shines in its delicious baked goods, and amazing drinks. I'm slightly addicted, but I'm determined to fill my passport 😋

Brilliant hidden gem of a cafe and bar. These amazing barristers can create beautiful coffees as well as yummy hot chocolate. Couldn’t be a more friendly cafe. Can see why seek this cafe out. Also use Maleny and Barambah milk to make an even better coffee tea or hot choc. Thanks guys. You’re now my city local

A cozy, quaint Melbourne-style coffee shop with excellent coffee and friendly service. Their dark chocolate mocha with macadamia nut milk is amazing! They accept all major credit cards, including American Express (AMEX), without a silly surcharge, so I will definitely be back! I do, however, wish they had more pastry options later in the day because they were sold out of croissants by noon. The place also is difficult to find but well worth the search effort in order to discover this hidden gem of a coffee shop in Brisbane!

My first coffee stop in Brisbane was here and the small long black was delicious- Kenyan roast with fruity flavours. Glad I came at a less busy time because it was still bustling! It was intriguing to walk down and around to find the place with ample seats inside. Giving it a four because of the price tag of $5.50 (or is everything just that bit more expensive up here?) and there was only card payment. However, 5/5 for the service which was prompt and kind. Such a cool place to relax and take a break from the outside world.

Very cool little cafe. The seating is a bar set up which is nice. The iced mocha I ordered was delicious - there was a choice of milk, dark, or white chocolate which was cool! Also spotted a nice array of pastries.

20c off if you BYO keep cup. 50c off BYO bunker cup. Really really good coffee. Service is impeccable with staff who are so friendly, knowledgeable about coffee and incredibly attentive. The store itself is beautifully designed with exposed brickwork and unique light features. The journey to find the cafe was a mission in itself if new to city laneways. One entrance is next to the old bookshop and down some stairs past the Save The Koalas shop, the other is through a loading bay (I think).

Serves decent coffee in the day and shifts to a welcoming bar at night. Atmosphere is warm and cosy, more suited for the ‘to-go’ coffee in the daytime as there is a small amount of space inside. I always feel welcomed by the staff who make great conversation.

John Mills Himself is a quaint little cafe hidden away in a parking garage, smack bang in the city. They have made very beautiful coffee, with a fulfilling body and flavour. They are reasonably priced too, which makes it better. The one downside is that they charge 50¢ on-top of your order if you wish to dine in. Whilst 50¢ isn’t much, it still is a bit out of the ordinary to have this fee.

Great coffee. At 10am they weren't too busy and all staff were lovely with smiles. High stools to sit on may not appeal to some but for a hole in the wall coffee bar is fine.

  • 5/5 Blockchain E. 5 months ago on Google
Staff is super friendly and attentive. They know you by name after a short time and on top of that the coffee is excellent. Especially if you don't have milk with it which is when you notice the true flavour come through. Mathew and his team are really going the extra mile even during busy times. The place is small and tucked away which makes it all the more special. Give it go next time!

A dive into the past while remaining in the present. Fabulous croissants and cappuccino. To find it you have to do a kind of treasure hunt, but it's worth it. The best coffee shop to have a European breakfast in Melbourne

Great rotation of single origin coffees from different rosters as well as the house blend. Extremely friendly and happy to recommend a coffee for your taste. Kept me in caffeine while working on weekdays. The space has great atmosphere as well. Looking forward to an after work drink when COVID-19 is done.

I've gotten my coffee from here every morning for the last few and every cup has been absolutely perfect! I'm quite finicky with coffee and I've been pleasantly surprised with each and every sip. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The café itself has a relaxed atmosphere which is nice to find in the City. The café is in this quaint yet charming red brick building. Couldn't recommend this cafe more! Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit at night when they switch from café to bar. Thank you so much for the great coffee!

Went there for the first time after recommended by a friend. The location is a bit hidden away from the main streets. Great little bar. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the beer and whisky. Highly recommended if you like craft beer. Noticed they do brew and pour over coffee. Not many cafes do these in Brisbane. Will defined come back.
