😠 Requires you to have a towel even if you don't use any equipment that would require a towel (ie barbell only workout). Staff come by in the middle of your workout to ask you if you have one and will kick you out. You can rent one for $3 though. Thanks for the $3 scam. Edit: Also the 30-day notice... People often mention pool, staff, membership, good, Great, equipment, helpful, Staff, facilities,

The only available payment method is through Debit Success, which is a very aggressive financial management company, with terrible reviews. They regularly charge fees in addition to your membership fee, making your gym membership so much more expensive, stressful and difficult to manage. I ended up having to cancel my membership to an otherwise good gym because of their practices. Even though I was on a 'no contract' membership, I wasn't able to cancel my membership, and was required to continue paying gym membership fees, as well as debit success fees for an additional 8 weeks total. You are not really advised of this prior to agreeing to the 'no contract/'flexible' membership. It's really disappointing that this is advertised as a student centric gym, but is financially punative in its practices and membership structure. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who needs to carefully budget and plan finances. I wish this gym could actually be affordable and accessible to students. It's really disappointing, and I wish I'd never signed up, it's been a total money pit. Stay away. Update: Regarding YMCA's reply below. I have been in contact with them at multiple points and followed their advice to try and cancel my membership. The process is very difficult and even after giving the required 30days notice of cancelation, they will continue to bill you and you can expect both Debit Success and YMCA to be following you up for payment, even after payment has been made. Other reviews have made this observation, and nothing has been done to address the problem.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the Aquatic YMCA Manager Shiggy and his staff working at the 50m indoor swimming - pool at QUT Gardens. Since 2021 they have been looking after me in a very kind, professional and helpful way to use the pool. Thank you for assisting me in being able to use my equipment regularly. I would recommend this swimming - pool highly to other users in regard to staff and facilities.

Not a bad gym I guess. Spacious and reasonably well kitted out. It has an all weather olympic pool, which is good. Some gym areas are over subscribed with equipment others are lacking. Not really at the same level as a good commercial gym, but most of the essentials are still there. Biggest draw back is the gym timings. It is geared toward the student and not a working professional. There is very poor weekend access and there is NO after hours swipe access.

Large, clean gym and 9 lane pool. The guys at reception are friendly and helpful. And qut shop and coffee afterwards and a stroll through the botanical is a bonus :)

Closed for convenience.. Had to look up their Facebook page to find out details of why its closed - they will take your details saying its the reason why they need them but don't send out notifications. YMCA showing how they care about students/members during difficult times exercise can help with stress - clear they are just using the weather as an excuse during these off-peak times.

I had to leave because I wanted to move to a closer gym but leaving YMCA is so hard, its been three months since I left and they're still charging me all because of the COVID halt which I didn't even go to gym to, if you are leaving around this time do know that they will still charge you after wards because of the account holdings during COVID

Beautiful indoor 50m pool that’s usually not too busy. One of the best places to swim in Brisbane.

Went to the gym on an evening, staff was great with a good walk around tour of the facilities. Good about of equipment to use and heaps of lockers, no make sure to bring your own lock Pool was clean with heaps of lanes. Only things that hold it bad, parking prices are $15 an hour for non students and no stean/sauna.

Consistently rude and clueless reception staff. Not sure what their purpose / role is as unable to answer basic queries about gym or group classes. Might as well be unstaffed! Only using as part of Fitness Passport and closest gym to my work.

Awesome Facility! can't believe this gem is hidden away in the middle of the city. Staff are really helpful and welcoming. Was pleasantly surprised to see it open to the public including the 50m Pool! Cleanest gym I have seen, refreshing to see a gym that actually looks after their stuff.

It is a great gym. I wish it opens in Saturday afternoons and Sunday too. :( That is the only thing I can complain. The opening hours were even shorter during Christmas/New year holidays period.

Closed from 10 am Saturday to Monday is crazy. Please open on weekends. It might need some thinking re more parking and some effective marketing

Fantastic big gym. They have classes on frequently. Now in hands of QUT itself so will be interesting to see what they do with the place. Space means it’s not as intimidating as some gyms can be. You can hire a towel if you don’t have one. They have struggled to quickly scan me in recently but I think just transfer of ownership problems! 5/5 would recommend

Nice place, open to the public for a casual swim within the city of Brisbane. Took a 10 to 15 mind from my hotel at Ibis along Elizabeth Street. After which, you can take a walk through the Botanic Garden next door back to the city centre.

Great gym and pool close to Brisbane cbd. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Pro tip, if you want to swim laps call ahead and find out if there is any squad training on at the same time πŸ˜‰

Amazing friendly staff, clean and modern facilities. Pool water is very refreshing and perfect temperature to do laps, generally busy in the morning and evening when squads are on but good to go during the day.

It has always been good but now it’s become even better (new management I believe). The water was warmer than before and there was a hair dryer in the changing room.
