KATHY FROM HR- I WANT MY REFUND AND TO MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT ON JOLLY- FRANCHISE MANAGER OF CHERMSIDE SHINGLE INN RESTAURANT Jolly is arrogant, rude, dismissive, disrespectful, misogynistic, and steals from front line healthcare workers. THE MOST DISGUSTING SERVICE, QUALITY AND HANDLING FROM AN ESTABLISHMENT IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. DO NOT GO HERE. Jolly doesn’t respect his business, staff, customers or quality of the food leaving his kitchen. The food made me SICK. I ordered a beef and cheese burger that came with chips and a chocolate thick shake. I spent $27 at this restaurant and paid $19 for a burger that was soaked in pickle juice, the leafy greens were spoilt and tasted rotten, the tomato relish was nauseatingly expired, and the beef was the worst quality and taste I could not finish after having four bites. I return the food back to the counter and spoke to Jolly about my dissatisfaction with the taste and quality and I asked for a refund on the burger itself. Considering I spent so much money I expect to have a nice meal with my mother and have the food at least taste nice enough to continue eating. But after speaking to Jolly I was met with arrogance, he was blatantly rude, ignorant, dismissive and then he continued on with comments about myself and accusations of trying to get a free meal out of this situation. I understand my rights as a customer and that if a product is not to a standard the customer should receive a refund for products purchased. This isn’t new. Jolly thinks he is above the law and likes to rob hard working people during the day. Jolly along with a regular customer who was another man teamed up against me and claimed that I was getting a free meal and essentially a free ride by asking for the money back even though I starting to eat my meal. I cannot believe the disrespect I received from both these men after I had explained that there were genuine issues wrong with the food and I was not attempting to receive my money back in any other way that was not my fair right as a customer. The more I ate the more wrong it tasted- hence the 4 bites removed from the burger in photo attached. Jolly refused to give me any contact details for HR and refused to explain the refund and exchange policy with me. He stated “my name is Jolly and you can google everything else”. He also said comments such as “you talk too much you need to learn how to listen because I think not many people have told you that before”. He refused to look at the food returned by myself which is why i took a photo. I didn’t receive a receipt. He threatened to call security and have me removed. But never did because he knew I was in the right. Refused to listen to my suggestions to keep his restaurant to standard. Our table wasn’t checked on by the staff after serving our food. Read the reviews for yourself, I wish I did before entering the place. Get this man out of the food and service industry. He is not customer first orientated and couldn’t give a rats what leaves his kitchen. I’m baffled and beside myself. I WANT A FULL REFUND

The staff are pretty rude here and quite short and abrupt. It’s hard to know why they think it’s okay to come across that arrogant and impatient with customers. This comment is based on at least 10 visits and I am always surprised that their attitude never seems to improve. The coffee is okay but I find the full strength versions to taste a bit burnt or bitter. They used to do cute kids tea party platters with cupcakes and a cute short bread biscuit but that has changed now and the new version seems to be rather ordinary. At least their cupcakes with faded and ‘old’ looking smarties have gone! (Smarties would fade in refrigerator from humidity but looked unappealing) Food is overpriced but okay in quality. Nothing amazing to be honest. This stores best features is probably their cake but their North Lakes store puts this store to shame. There is definitely room for improvement for happier customer experiences.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a cafe. Older lady at the counter was rude, she was training a younger boy and was super rude towards him in front of customers. My sister got a coffee and asked for it to be made with oat milk but wasn’t charged for it so I was made to pay for it on my seperate order. When she got her coffee it obviously wasn’t made with oat milk so I complained just for the staff member to say “but it is” and walked away. My coffee didn’t taste nice at all I couldn’t even finish it. My pancakes were dry and the bacon was raw. Won’t be going back again. All the tables were dirty aswell

While the food and prices were reasonable there service was not... When ordering, the staff were very slow to enter the items. I clearly stated what was ordered, waiting for them to be ready for the next one to be said and they still missed an item. When I asked where the missing item was, they said "You never said it. You really should be sure to say your full order." They then would not apply the same discount that was valid on the rest of the order because this was a "new order now". Then would not remove an ingredient from a meal to accommodate an allergy because it would mean the meal "wouldn't be up to scratch" and got irritated with me for trying to understand why they would not omit a single ingredient while cooking.

My partner came to sit with me after she finished shopping and was holding a starbucks coffee. Manager rudely interrupted us and told us that she cannot sit here with the drink in her hand. Awful experience, would not recommend.

Was rudely approached and told that I had to pay extra to dine in when I ask for takeaway. needed to sit down due to feeling sick and I were there for 2 minutes. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to charge a sit down fee when using no cutlery or plates and the fact that he's not even 3 stars makes it even worse, I could maybe justify if it was a 5 star cafe. Really not impressed.

Rude and stingy- was just walking past and needed a serviette, went to go and take one and the manager immediately said said no put it back or that will be $1 and then proceeded to swear at my husband when he questioned him. So we walked down to the little sparrow cafe and asked them for a serviette and they happily gave us one- would definitely go there instead.

Very rude staff. I have avoided going to shingle inn at Chermside for some years due to the poor service and quality of food, however today went due to all the upstairs outside dining area restaurants unable to do coffee as there was a water issue. Wish I had just gotten into my car and driven elsewhere. The women at the counter was very rude. When I went to put my menu in the counter stand she told me to put it back on the table with a very unfriendly tone, when I started to give her a look she added a please. Then when our iced drinks come over the server went and handed me the straws, then the spoons and obviously aware of my thoughts said he'll place the napkins on the table. I've NEVER been to a restaurant or cafe were I've been handed the cutlery and then not just been placed on the table. If other cafe's hadn't been so busy (Ivy & Lark, Le Bon Choix) I would have gone there. Don't waste your hard earn money at this place. Oh and since when do they not sell the signature cup cakes??? I don't know how these franchise is still in business.

Very disappointing. I ordered food to go as that was my husband and my original plan but our 11 week old son started to get upset and was hungry so I covered myself to feed. Our food seemed to take forever and then it turned out they were waiting for us to be leaving to give us the food as we ordered take away and it was cheaper (which I had no idea about) and we weren’t allowed to eat it inside. Not good customer service considering the situation. We won’t be eating here again.

Upstairs restaurant precinct was packed so i searched for a comfortable, not so crowded cafe and stumbled upon this gem. In the middle of the walkways with great seating options and not too busy. Good service, minimal waiting i received my poached eggs cooked to perfection. Nice tea and just a overall happy experience. Better than the hectic food court and much nicer than the restaurant scene upstairs. The best casual cafe and sit down option in Chermside.

Worse sandwich ever. Ordered a toasted ham and cheese toasted sandwich. It was the thinnest sandwich I’ve ever seen. Bread was melted on one side not the other. Cheese wasn’t melted. And what the worse thing was it cost. $9.80. I know prices have gone up. But come on. Not $9.80 for a humble toasted ham and cheese.

If I could give a 0, I would. Ordered a coffee and when it came out, it was burnt and disgusting we told the waitress and she took it back. They made another one and it tasted the same. So we asked for a hot chocolate in replacement as the coffee was undrinkable, the owner then came out and said if we want hot chocolate it's extra $1 and I said but the coffee was so bad, we couldn't drink it and he didn't care at all. He wanted the $1, so we gave it to him. The hot chocolate then came out and it was hot milk on top of chocolate, wasn't mixed in at all. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. THE OWNERS ARE RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS.

Does management even read these reviews and give half a c**p about the feedback. I came today and ordered the waffles. The waffles were extremely under cooked and rubbery. I don’t normally return food but these were incredibly inedible. The staff were polite enough to remake them but how do you mess up waffles. I probably should have read the reviews before coming here. I’m stunned management don’t acknowledge any of these reviews. Seems he’s a bit of a d**k going by the reviews.

The manager on the day made us change tables as there was only 2 of us at a 4 seater rable, even though we were waiting for a friend, but changed seats any way, and then as i was ordering at the counter with a happy young man, the manager came and started telling him to go do other things, while i was mid order, then she resumed aking my order and again, starting yelling out and waving at one of her friends behind me and proceeded to have a conversation with her, again i stood there in awe, she then charged me and after saying 4 times what table we had been moved to, she again asked what table we were at. There is now 3 of us, sitting across 2 seperate tables.. very unpleasant and rude way to start our day.

Having breakfast and order raisin toast with hot chocolate. You get a plain glass of warm milk and then you pour in the hot chocolate. Very tasty. You also get 2 slices of raisin toast (thin slices) which is far better than that big slab you get from other cafes. Staff were very friendly and my only negative is that the gentleman serving needs to speak up as his voice is in competition with the music being played by Westfield and the noise that comes from an open cafe within the mall. The store is located outside Target and you can log into the free wifi from Westfield.

Nice little cafe in Chermside Mall. They need to work on their cappuccino skills. More latte than cappuccino

Sat down with a friend for a cup of coffee at a table that had the remains of someones breakfast. My friend got up to order and then a random woman came over and started fussing around the table and asking me how many people i was sitting with and looking around. I had no idea what was going on until i realised the table was normally reserved for 3 or more people, the tiny hand written sign had fallen off the table. There was then confusion over whether i had to move or not which i finally did. My friend then had a terrible experience ordering with the same woman. This woman is a manager and is terrible, screeching at staff while serving, not making it clear what the hell she was doing at my table. Not impressed.

Happy to report their coffee is a good pick-me-up and they offer some incentive (20c) to encourage customers to bring along their own KeepCup to help reduce waste. Would deserve 5 stars if their discount was in line with other retailers.
