It’s basically a club hostel. From 7am you’ll hear the noisy music until 10pm from the giant speaker. Especially at night people in the communal area are high and the music is unbearably loud that only the club type people can stay at the ground floor communal area like kitchen and tables. Me and my friends just felt our ears were hurt by just staying there for 1 minute. AND The 10pm noise curfew posted by the accommodation is just a joke. After 10pm EVERY NIGHT people chat, play the music from their phone, rap together loudly until midnight and no staff controls about it. Right now is pm11:48and outside is still full of music and people laughing and yelling that you can hear clearly from the firmly closed window. I highly appreciate the complete house rules made by the hostel but there’s just no one to control the real situation sadly.

***THE WORST HOSTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN*** I arrived with a friend when I checked in to the hostel. The staff explained that they couldn't offer us the same room and answered okay as we were very tired from long drive and we both understood. But the manager told us that if we stay in different rooms, we can learn English and make friends. We had no problem communicating in English while talking to the manager. I was born in Korea and am currently working as a nurse in Australia and my friend is from New Zealand, so we had no problem communicating, but it seemed that we were simply making that judgment based on the appearance. This was very unpleasant, but first we were so tired that we couldn't wait to rest so we did not make any comments. On that night I wanted smoke, so I politely asked the other staff at the reception where the smoking area was, and the staff said we could go down to the basement. We were smoking in the basement, and two French men joined and were talking together. The manager came down, grabbed me by the collar, and shouted in my ear, "YOUR VOICE TOO LOUD AND I CAN HEAR FROM EVERYWHERE" "GET OUT, GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I was so embarrassed and startled. We never partied loudly nor played music, and we were talking in a very minimal voice for less than 10 minutes and the time was about 11pm. His attitude was far from convincing. I would have understood and said sorry if he had spoken in a polite way instead of holding me by the collar and yelling. Also, the manager shouted only at me and my friend, said nothing to the other two French men, and kicked me out. we went downstairs next day and other girl was talking on the phone pre loud and we were not able to see the manger coming downstairs. We were scheduled to be tied for two days and It was an absolute worst experience that I could never understand for me who had traveled as a backpackers to many countries for 4 years. and I also have experience worked in hostels. I never wish to stay in this hostel again to avoid this rude guy and cannot believe he is the manager of this hostel. I feel bad for the other staff who work with him. The room is of the same quality as any other hostels. I have never left a bad review and I'm only writing this because I want that person to know he’s wrong behaviour. Also I would not mention about his name or his appearance as I will still respect his privacy. The other staff members were nice. I stayed here for 2 months in total, in March and then on June 22. My first week in March was good. The hostel was not too full, the bathroom was clean. I was first staying in an 8 bed dorm but occupied with 5 people only because of COVID-19 restrictions. After 1 week I went to Gold coast and stayed there for 1 week. When I got back I was staying at the pods. It was terrible, the mattress was really thin and had a hole in the middle. After 3 nights I was having shoulder and hip pain because of it. I asked if they had any other pods to change and they said it was all full. After 1 week, someone in the same room left and I could change places, but the mattress was not that better either. I was also unfortunate to share the room with British girls who would talk and make lots of noises regardless of the hour. In June I went back to the hostel but this time with my partner. The bathroom now is more dirty. Often it is missing paper towels and the bin is overflowing with used ones. It seems it is cleaned less often. The kitchen is too small for the amount of tenants. The fridge is not at the same level as the kitchen and doesn't have enough space, which is really inconvenient. We first stayed at the pods, but again the same problems with the mattress and the British girls (different ones this time). One of the girls is even working at reception now, although she has no respect for the rules of the hostel (or the other tenants). She and her friends are always eating inside the pool area, making noise and chatting (loudly) after 10pm inside the shared room or putting the tv at a deafning volume in the really small common area. Sometimes you can't even have a conversation there. Since we couldn't stand the pods anymore we asked to change rooms and we went to the 4 beds room. This one was good, lots of places to store the luggage and the mattress was better. At one point we saw a promotion for long term rents for single rooms and we reserved for 4 weeks (but paying weekly). 2 days before starting my third week I was informed the rent had an increase and it was going to be more than double what I was paying. They offered me a discount for a shared bedroom but, honestly, I decided to leave because I think it was really disrespectful to be informed in such short notice. As other people stated here already, sometimes I was informed at reception I couldn't extend because they were full but I could reserve beds online through differents websites. This has happened with friends of mine as well. I found it to be very disorganized in this regard. I would recommend the hostel for short terms but if you want something longer, try the students housing around the city. It will be a little more expensive but more comfortable and reliable in the long run.

Price premium for a hostel due to location but everything is in walking distance. The facility is very clean, well maintained and with a pool is a great addition. Guests were quiet and respectful, the common areas were comfortable and the hostel put on different events throughout the week to engage guests. Only complaint was the mattresses were terrible.

Be careful, this is described as a hotel on many sites. It was not obvious that it was a hostel on the wotif website - at $192, you don't expect it to be a hostel. For $192 I had shared toilets and bathroom, no hot water on first floor (others advised me to go to 2nd floor for hot shower),no blankets on bed, no towel. I note the triple room with shared bathroom is up to $296 at peak times - unless you click on details you don't see the shared bathroom and toilet info. Most people probably don't check details to see if towels and blankets are provided. And the "40" inch TV appearing under the room details - is not in the room. It's in the common area.

I'm writing this anonymously. I love the decor of this hostel. It's very chic and that's what makes it stand out from other hostels in Brisbane. There's always reservations at this hostel and there are a few issues with this which I'm going to explore. The first is that there's not enough space for everyone to leave their food in the fridges. For that reason, I never really used the kitchen to cook. The common areas are very small too so it can feel a bit cramped at times. If you're looking to stay here long-term, I wouldn't recommend this place based on my own experience. I kept being shuffled around to different rooms. The staff did their best to accommodate me. However, when one of them told me they would arrange to put me in a different room near the end of my stay, they didn't do that and I had to find a new place to stay on short notice. I would have preferred to be informed that I had to move before the day I was due to check out. Since that didn't happen, that incident alone soured my whole experience there and I don't think I would stay there again.

Brisbane Quarters is very conveniently located, a short walk to the central station, shops, bars and restaurants. The four person dorm was the highlight of the stay. Due to covid regulations this was previously an 8 person dorm and had been downgraded. This left plenty of room for personal belongings. If there had been 8 people I imagine this would be a very cramped room. The mattress in this room was very thin and uncomfortable however still bearable. I also tried the Pods and found they were extremely uncomfortable. The foam mattress had lost majority of its thickness and was like sleeping directly on the floor. We tried two pods and both were equally thin. The pods also lacked adequate storage room and as a result the room was filled with other guests bags, clothes, and shoes. Because of all the clutter it would be impossible to clean the room adequately and as a result the floors were filthy and the room was very dusty. The only bright side of the Pod dorm was the air conditioning, it was constantly on and the room was a pleasant 20c. I tried 5 of the shared bathrooms over the course of a week and they were all consistently filthy, often either no soap or hand towels, and definitely had not been moped in a long time. The blocked drains in showers left water on floor and the bathroom constantly smelling of mold and mildew. If you do stay here do not shower barefoot. The Kitchen was also unsanitary. It appeared to be briefly cleaned every day but the floor and sinks were always covered in grime. It was well equipped with cooking utensils and pans, however it was far too small to accomodate 5 floors of guests. Overall I would not recommend this hostel. After staying here for a week my back is sore from the awful beds and my asthma has flared because of the filth.

Best hostel ever could not recommend it any more. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the vibe is amazing as well as the cleanliness that is maintained throughout the hostel. Very social as well as they do wine and cheese nights and pizza nights and I have made the best friends here!

One of the best Hostels Ive ever stayed at. Its exceptionally clean, not too busy, well equipped, has amazing staff, incomparable Location and a broad cultural diversity! This Hostel is absolutely worth staying at and is the best and most chilled out place in brisbane Ive been to yet. They got their own gym and pool and you will get your own clean towels, free breakfast each morning and free pizza on weekends and can make amazing friends during your stay!

Awful. Awful organisation and check in process. Unhelpful, unprofessional and incompetent staff with absolutely no idea what they are doing, making the check in process very difficult and long. We were left to find separate accommodation despite booking in advance due to terrible organisation from the hostel, literally watched the staff bicker about our booking and scramble to find it, to realise there was actually no room left in the hostel for us (even though ww booked weeks ago) Do not recommend!

Well… words cannot describe how much I enjoyed staying in this hostel. As a solo traveller, I was welcomed by the staff in a friendly and chirpy manner which made me feel like I was at home. The Assistant Manager, Tom, which you’ll meet, makes the whole hostel experience enjoyable. He includes everybody in the activities that take place at the hostel and any enquiries he is happy to assist right away. I had an issue with one of the people in my dorm and he offered for me to stay in another room as I was not comfortable to be in a room with this person. You will also meet the famous Gil, known for his mullet. He is also a helpful staff member, anything I wanted to speak to him about he was there! I highly recommend this hostel as it is fun and sociable. I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you.

Location is perfect. The bedspread had a bunch of hair of the same color attached to it. The mattress had a hollow in the middle. And I stayed in a mixed room, and a woman brought a man several time and they made terrible sounds at night. Should be a little more concerned about security.

Your first choice in Brisbane! My overall experience with hostels in Australia was pretty disappointing: Despite being such a developed country, the hostels in Australia Ive been to were mostly very dirty and led by careless staff. However, Brisbane Quaters taught me that there are a nice hostels in Australia as well! It is very clean, has an excellent location and overall a good price point, considering there is free breakfast, a pool and even a small gym to use. But the best part of the hostel is definitely the staff! 24/7 there is someone at the reception to help you with whatever problem, all of them are very nice, friendly and even attractive (excl. Thomas). They blend in with the guests and support the social atmosphere, which is undoubtedly very good in this hostel. It is easy to make friends here and if you are in Brisbane, there is no better place to stay for you.

Overall customer service was 200% amazing I will say this. Very understanding and a refund was greatly appreciated and helpful Overall I wasn't booked to a female dorm in the end. I had to sleep in a 4bed male dorm with fridge noises to keep me up as well as no proper warmth from light blankets provided for me. Cleanliness Overall needs to improve in bathrooms, kitchen and bedroom spaces as it's a bit cramped in the hostel spaces Overall My stay was around June 2022 and mornings and evenings very unusually freezing for Brisbane weather at this time if year Very busy hostel nonetheless Just prepare to rough it if you don't mind that and be mindful of Overall cleanliness and warmth provided. The room I stayed in had a musty smell also Overall

Brisbane Quarters is a bright, new form of contemporary budget and backpackers accommodation in the vein of The Pod in Sydney although much bigger, combined with Montacute Boutique Bunkhouse in Battery Point, Hobart. All three are comfortable, modern places with excellent facilities. The only setback here is this place is not so much a place for the older guest like me although there were a few of us there. As it's full of young backpackers, my male counterparts' in particular personal habits are filthy basically. You have to see what they can do to kitchen surfaces and bathrooms to believe it. Some idiot broke the hot water tap in one of the mens bathrooms on my floor also. As there are shared facilities there is nowhere to hide. Maybe you're not the type of person to be bothered by this, but the grot all over the bathroom and kitchen surfaces after the morning and evening animal stampedes was a bit much for me to bear. The facilities really are very nice and nevertheless I found it very comfortable and pleasant overall. It wasn't the most friendly place either, I got a few smiles and passing "hello's" which is standard but the overall vibe was more stand-offish and cliquey than usual. I didn't realise how good a bargain I'd gotten from Agoda when I went to extend my stay for the night and found out from the severe or blunt, fairly unpleasant young Irish woman who works there that it was $100 rather than the exceedingly good $58 per night I paid for a private room on Agoda. Which makes sense as I was thinking during my stay this is exceptionally cheap for the type of room you get. While minimally furnished, it was bright, clean and modern with excellent air conditioning which you really need in a Brisbane summer and a very comfortable bed. If it was based on the place alone I would definitely stay there again but given the clientele I probably wouldn't.

A initially planned one week stay here turned into our home for over a month. Brisbane Quarters is a clean, social and fun hostel right in the center of the city with fun events twice a week. But what really made our experience so special are the people here. We made so many great friends here who quickly became like a travel-family and we always felt at home: Cooking, talking, partying, playing games and hanging out together. 🫶🏼 Including the great staff at this place. Big thanks and shoutout to Gil, Tom, Brandon, Michael and especially Cris who gave their best to help us settle down in Australia, give us recommendations and makes us feel at home in the hostel. Hopefully see you soon someday and hugs, Julia and Amelie x

If you’re looking for a decent night’s sleep: avoid. The 10pm curfew does not seem to be in place. The walls are also paper thin so you hear everything. Rooms are very basic and not very clean + mattrasses are not comfortable. The location is nice and central and the staff seemed friendly.

Friendly staff, trendy decor, great location, clean, but...... walls are paper thin. Every time a neighbouring suite opened their door it sounded so close it was as if they were coming into mine. Definitely pack earplugs.

It was a good stay, good for someone who is single, good bed space. Guy at reception was outstanding and checking was quick and smooth. Only issue I faced was mobile charging at bed space as it was few in gallery and was using by another people, it would be amazing if they could give charging points in bed space. Bathroom and toilet was neat and clean. They provide breakfast as well, Laundry room and kitchen area is common.

Had a really bad experience with them Booked in advance and when I arrive to the place been asked if I been double vaccinated Something that they should ask me on the phone the week before and not after I did all the travel and the hassle of finding parking and paying. They cancel my booking and I had to reschedule everything was very bad experience😡 very unprofessional 😤 But thanks God it happens because I didn’t know there is no parking there

The hostel is pretty clean, and the facilities are quite new. The staff was friendly as well. However, my room was too small (with only one usb plug around my bed), and it was far too noisy. I could hear the street easily even though the window was closed and there were parties with loud electronic music every night. It is like sleeping next to a nightclub. Furthermore, besides that the breakfast was free, it was very limited, only sweet (bread with jam/honey, coffee, milk, corn flakes, yogurt, and canned fruits). I can also point out that there were not enough fridges (maybe one more should be better) and I couldn't find a small pan to cook (only big pans). I was also struggling to get hot water in the shower on the first floor, and there were not enough plugs in the main area to use a computer. Finally, I would say that this hotel is perfect if you are looking for parties, but definitely not if you want to study/work or if you like quiet places.

Really can’t find anything to fault with this hostel, lovely clean rooms, the staff are so polite and helpful and there’s free breakfast from 8am-10am which really helps people trying to save money! The beds are so comfy and there’s air con for when it gets too hot. Really enjoyed our stay here 👍🏼

Location is perfect for city explorer. The room is the most spacious among the hostels I ever stayed, and it is very clean. Basement room is a bit humid and cold, not a big problem if having a blanket and keep the air-con on. Common area is relatively small. It would be great if there is a door to separate the gym area and smoking area. The swimming pool is wonderful. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Nice hostel! The staff is really friendly and there is free breakfast. They also have free wine/sausage evenings. We likes that it is a social hostel en we made some friends. The location is perfect, 10 minute walk to the centre. Only the dorm rooms are a bit too small (4 persons). And the swimming pool is just to cool off, you can’t lay down next to it. But definitely a good hostel!

I had a very nice experience at this hostel. It’s a nice atmosphere there and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They even helped me with a problem that I had in my computer. The furniture is new and everything is always tidy and smelling good. The breakfast in the morning is a bonus! It’s simple, but delicious. I definitely recommend it!

The hotel rules state there is a noise curfew after 22:00, however the other guests seem to ignore this 100%. There is NO soundproofing at all, you can hear EVERYTHING in the room. They are yelling in the corridors, watching tiktoks, playing music and having loud conversations in the middle of the night. My room was on the ground floor and staff did not react to it even though they are present 24/7.

  • 5/5 William de Z. 6 months ago on Google
Nice hostel! Friendly staff, nice breakfast, so not too bad! The rooms can be a bit noisy with people coming in late or sounds from the streets, but I didn't think it was a big problem. Showers and toilets were clean. I would return easily :)

Very friendly service throughout our stay and generally seems a social hostel, if a little clicky. The room was clean and comfortable and had AC. A little noise in the evening, but nothing that stopped from a good nights sleep. The bathrooms were kept very clean, definitely on the nicer end of hostel bathrooms! The kitchen area is also kept clean and tidy. Free breakfast is also a nice touch.

Place was very clean and I did not hear a party or such (it was not the weekend though so that might explain it) all went very quiet around 10pm as expected. The staff was very nice. But the big big issue (never has that one on any other hostel) was the mattress !! Completely worn out, you literally had a sort of whole in the middle where you’d had the feeling of simply being on the ground.. I do Hope they get that sorted out because otherwise it’s a very good place to stay.

"During my stay at the Brisbane Quarter Hostel, something truly remarkable happened – the staff and fellow travelers became like a family to me. What started as a simple accommodation choice turned into an unforgettable journey of connections and friendships. Tom, Michael, Brandon, Christian, Gil and Julia, the fantastic receptionists, weren't just staff members – they became friends who greeted me with genuine smiles and a willingness to help at any time. Their warm personalities and local insights made me feel like I was truly a part of the Brisbane community. The themed nights, such as the pizza night and the wine and cheese night, weren't just about the food – they were about coming together with newfound friends to share laughter, stories, and experiences. These nights transformed strangers into companions, and the hostel into a haven of camaraderie. I realized that the Brisbane Quarter Hostel wasn't just a place to stay – it was a space where memories were made and relationships were forged. The comfort of the dorms and the convenience of the central location were just the backdrop to the real magic that happened within those walls. In the end, I can say with all my heart that the Brisbane Quarter Hostel isn't just a hostel; it's a family. It's a place where individuals from all walks of life come together and form bonds that go beyond borders. If you're looking for more than just a place to lay your head, if you're seeking a sense of belonging and a home away from home, this is the perfect destination for you."

The vibe was really weird, can't really explain it other than most people weren't very friendly. Bathrooms are okay and pods are kinda cool. But bed was hard and they only give you a sheet no blanket. Deffo not worth the money.

Can't recommend enough. If you are looking for a hostel/hotel when in this area of Brisbane I can back Brisbane Quarters 100%. Legendary staff and friendly residents. Clean beds, fresh linen, clean showers and great location(airport travel wise) taxi has proven to be the most reliable over uber/didi from here. Better than some of the more expensive hotel accommodation nearby. My review is based on less than 12 hours of stay and Ill definitely be back one day to explore the entire experience this hostel has to offer. Keep up the great work guys!

The best art of this hostel is the staff they are amazing and nice, the location is good, the breakfast is ok yogurth and cereals and toasts, but the cleaning side us just aweful!! To start the kitchen is dirty all the time and greasy it's like it has never been deep cleaned where ever you touch is dirty, the kitchen sink is moldy It should be cleaned and bleached at least once a week. ..the rooms are ok but also very dirty the floor seemed to have been wiped since months ...the fridge when you open it you have a gross smell coming up it should be checked from time to time and stuff that left behind thrown away...not healthy at all.the bathroom and showers are not inside the rooms you have to share with all the floor they do clean them sometimes but most of the time are disgusting! It could be much more better if better cleaned and better organised for the follow up if hygiene

Very very bad at managing a cancellation of your booking. If you’re thinking about booking with them and be able to cancel easily, go on your way, because you’ll struggle to see your money back.

the owner tries hard to offer the best experience for the guests, its just so impressive. Free breakfast with Lupak butter, fresh bread, yogurt and can fruit, some room has its own fridge. Every room has own aircon. Body wash in all the Shower rooms. Enough amount of storage, manager attending 24/7, very kind and cleaning all the time, just those efforts to offer comfort is very touching. Definitely deserves five stars.

Brisbane Quarters is clearly the best hostel in town. Don't look elsewhere. The staff is really kind and helpful, the place is clean and regularly cleaned up. A lot of facilities, kitchen, swimming pool, gym, TV, outdoor dinning room. It's also a great place to meet people and backpakers. I highly recommand this place to stay in Brisbane.

Nice hostel. But sometimes is a little bit dirty and some staff members sometimes are not motivated to help you. I went to the counter to extend my stay and one of the girls told me that was fully booked without even checking the system. 2 min later I found a bed in booking. And I saw the same situation with another guest at the reception trying to book as well. Also one of the “security “ guys at night was rude to me because I went to the fridge for something to eat. I don’t know who he thinks that he is but definitely needs to learn how to talk with people.

Good hostel in general but shared toilets and showers not cleaned at all or really badly clean. Foam mattresses not very comfortable. There's no plugs next to the beds in majority of the rooms. Just 1 USB connection. Bit disorganised, comparing with last year (couldn't booked on spot even if there were some available online), bit disappointing. Used to be the best in the city

We had a beautiful stay and the Brisbane Quarters. Position is AMAZING, rooms are clean and cozy. Breakfast is very good and has a lot to offer. The kitchen is well equipped, you just have to rely on people's common sense to keep everything clean. Also a huge thank you to Kalani, most friendly and polite receptionist ever!

Apparently this hostel had a lot younger guests (teen’s-20’s I thought) they were nice and considerate, having good vibes, respectful to the others. The location was good to me, as it’s close enough to the city and Central station, at the same time not too close to the noisy area. So I could sleep well it was pretty quiet at night in the room. But if you wanna eat out dinner, it might not have enough options around this backpackers. The original blanket was paper thin. I asked a staff and she kindly gave me extra so it was better but still cold for me in the early morning. I’d say you should prepare for some extra clothes just in case if they don’t have enough spare blanket. Breakfast was some bread, butter, jam and Vegemite, yogurt, cereal, fruits in the syrup as I remember. Also coffee, tea and milk were provided.

This place is awesome. The staff were helpful and friendly and always there to accommodate guests. All the decor and appliances were awesome and no issue. Secure and co.fortable. Location is great too.. 15-20min walk to the night-life. Close to the trains and main streets of the city. Has a pool and a small gym. FREE BREAKFAST too (at the time of this review) yes it was basic breakfast with toast, cereals and yoghurt but I've been to hostels all over the world, and free food on a budget is nothing to sneeze at. Coffee and tea available. Plenty of dishes for everyone to use Beds were comfortable. I felt safe. I know for a fact, that if im in Brisbane again, I'm coming back here

Very friendly staff and very modern and nice rooms and amenities! Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner and the kitchen is pretty small, but apart from that I had a great stay!

Nicely decorated hostel; bathrooms are great, always clean and tidy. Free breakfast in the morning is a nice bonus, and great location close to the train station. I stayed in one of the pods which was nice to have a bit of extra privacy, the mattress is very thin though so wasn’t very comfortable, and only a thin sheet in winter is a bit cold. I did see someone get offered a blanket whilst I was checking out though, so would’ve been warmer if offered one of those too.

It has high potential to be a very nice hostel but unfortunately the cleaning service should improve (especially bathroom). Also in the Australian Winter a bed sheet is just not enough as a blanket

Our stay was ok, nothing special, I was disappointed they didn’t have soap in the bathroom and they didn’t have any vegan options for the free breakfast.

This hostel has a super nice interior and a really well done place. Upon entrance we were greeted by a lovely staff member who checked us in. It did seem quite rowdy upon entry but seemed a one off by this group. Rooms were clean and basic with AC which was great. Toilets and showers were OKAY, they didn’t feel clean, and could have done with additional cleans throughout the day. Didn’t use the kitchen or laundry facilities but again they looked okay. There were quite a lot of long stays in this hostel which never really caused a problem, but it seemed to be a reoccurring thing that they would all get back from work similar times and stay outside being loud until VERY late. Despite the 10pm cut off, (wasn’t an issue for us).
