By
way
of
introduction,
my
points
of
reference
for
reviewing
Rosewood
Little
Dix
Bay
are
trips
to
Caneel
Bay
resort,
St.
John,
USVI
(pre-Hurricane
Irma
and
subsequent
closure
of
the
resort),
Harbour
Village
resort
in
Bonaire,
and
the
Jashita
Hotel
in
Tulum,
Mexico.
I've
enjoyed
stays
at
all
of
these
resorts.
Our
family's
first
trip
to
Little
Dix
Bay
was
magical.
The
resort
happily
exceeded
our
expectations.
First
off,
the
resort
is
situated
on
a
gorgeous
half-moon
crescent
bay
and
white
sand
beach.
The
grounds
are
beautifully
landscaped,
with
copious
flowering
bushes
and
trees,
and
coconut
and
palm
tree
species.
Accommodations
are
excellent
and
are
tastefully
furnished,
reflecting
a
substantial
renovation
and
monetary
investment,
post-Hurricane
Irma.
Personal
concierges
(somewhat
anachronistically
and
unnecessarily
referred
to
as
"butlers")
are
helpful
in
setting
up
dinner
reservations
and
in
fulfilling
other
guest
requests.
Breakfast
and
lunch
and
dinner
at
the
three
house
restaurants
are
delightful.
Cocktails
and
dishes
are
delicious
and
beautifully
presented.
I
appreciate
that
they
offer
non-alcoholic
"mocktails."
Chef
Andrew
and
his
culinary
team
have
clearly
put
a
lot
of
thought
and
work
into
their
menu,
and,
it
shows.
There
is
a
prevailing
spirit
of
generosity
in
little
touches
such
as
bread
basket
and
amuse-bouches
at
dinner,
little
smoothies
served
on
the
beach,
ice
cream
at
the
beach
shack
at
2:30
pm
and,
tea
time
with
scones
and
little
baked
goods.
The
resort
has
instituted
a
major
herb,
fruit
and
vegetable
garden
whose
bounty
is
used
by
the
kitchen
team.
The
house
motor
boats
can
take
you
snorkeling
at
quiet
bays
located
fifteen
or
twenty
minutes
away,
and,
leave
you
"marooned"
on
the
beach
with
a
delicious
picnic
basket
lunch,
bottled
water,
umbrellas
and
towels,
for
pick-up
a
few
hours
later.
There
are
kayaks,
floating
mattresses
and
two
Hobie
Cat
catamarans
available
for
water
sports
activity,
as
well
as
a
nice
fitness
center
and
tennis
courts.
The
house
reef
offers
excellent
snorkeling
and
is
teeming
with
life
--
sea
turtles,
nurse
sharks,
rays,
octopi,
shrimp,
needlefish,
grey
angelfish,
puffers
and
the
usual
Caribbean
suspects
(blue
tang,
squirrelfish,
parrotfish,
damselfish,
four-eyed
butterfly
fish,
yellow
snapper,
fairy
basselet,
blue-headed
wrasse,
palometta,
sergeant
major,
etc.)
The
bay
water
is
wonderfully
warm
and
generally
calm.
Staff
are
all
super-friendly,
helpful
and
interesting.
If
and
until
Caneel
Bay
reopens
as
a
resort,
Little
Dix
Bay
is
the
best
re-creation
of/rival
to
that
legendary
resort.
Highly
recommended
for
a
first-class,
fun
and
memorable
Caribbean
vacation
and
a
relaxing/restorative
time.
