An excellent little museum. It's a bit disjointed for wheelchair users, but we managed and they do have a lift. Great selection of relics from multiple eras, which was a pleasure. It was also free as all museums should be. Friendly staff. Parking not great.

Great free museum with children's activities taking place when we went Saturday end of Feb Half term. My sons were interested in the WW1 trench and war film and also the mummy! Drinks machine and gift shop. In an interesting old looking building not far from car park and waterfront.

It's free and even in terrible weather you would struggle to spend 30 minutes here. It's a terrible injustice to the community and people of Swansea. Either no-one over the centuries has donated to their museum or someone is keeping it all under lock and key as it's certainly not on show to the public! Dire entrance, no customer service, not much of a gift shop, dated displays and drab atmosphere. When I visited there was an appalling exhibition on clothes, a stale life size replica of a Welsh kitchen that's been on display since 1919 seemingly and an abandoned stuffed animal section. Bizarrely an Egyptian room that was just weird. Why is there nothing on the heritage, shipping, trade, beauty and industry of swansea? It's enroute from the city centre to the harbour so worth peeking into especially in poor weather as it has free toilets but it needs someone to love and regenerate it.

Really great few hours. There is loads to look at in this museum 3 floors in total. Lots of information about each piece. Different collections in each room. I found it fascinating. Tiny little gift shop at the entrance. Definitely a place for older children I wouldn't recommend for young children as it lots of reading. They do have a very good collection. Free entry aswell which is great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend. Building is beautiful

Hey this is an interesting place to visit, full of information about the city, people and history. Some exhibits could do with updates, but mostly good. Some fun information on surfers and surfing. Well worth a walk through on a rainy day.

It was nice to visit the oldest museum in Wales. Loved the new section for typography. Great to also see some well curated and beautiful books. Great place to visit. Love it

Old fashioned but with style. More early 20th century type of museum than contemporary institution. Still, very nice exposition on 20th-century Swansea. Lot's of nostalgia in it.

It was a wonderful experience. We saw a calligraphy event and the visitors were very educated on all types of calligraphy. So many beautiful paintings up the stairs, the dinosaur fossils are incredible. However, the animal room was by far the best room! There are displays of a giraffe head, bull bison and a eagle with its wings spread. It is a must do while being in swansea! There’s also a kids room for small children to watch shows, colour and read books.

A really nice musuem! Very cosy, I would hang out there all day if I could. The natural history bit was very cool and had nice seats to lounge in. Will definitely pop in again next time I'm on Swansea

I enjoyed the visit to the museum today. The clothes exhibition was interesting but lighting is poor though I appreciate that old items need to be protected from light. Upstairs was again interesting but so dark and possibly a bit creepy for youngsters. What about some nice Welsh music (fiddle, harp, voice etc.) being played as background but not too loud to intrude. Lovely China and pottery section. Worth a visit.

I didn't know what to expect, but considering that this museum began from a collector's stash, it paints a pretty good picture of Swansea's past and present. It's got a lot of sections from Egyptian pieces and period clothing to exhibits showcasing life in old Wales. The small WW2 area addressing the "3 day Blitz" were a cool feature as well. Al in all pretty informative, despite being such a small museum. What should be noted is, entry is free to public- so its good in my books.

Great little museum! Free entry, nearest parking is a 1hr disc zone unless you walk from St. David's multi storey or the marina car park. The staff were lovely and really helpful! They have a mummy on display too which I recommend seeing!

Fun little local museum, desperately in need of volunteer docents to reprint faded and unreadable signs in a larger font. Many exhibits lack labels. Tiny LED lights could efficiently and inexpensively light displays which are too dark to see. The costume exhibit was the best as the room was well lit and costumes were close enough to easily see the details.

It's definitely historic and some items are really cool and the paintings are a wow factor....but for the size of the building and for how many famous people are from wales i think more modern stuff should be added to There could be lot more sections... with each section having more creative stuff added from parts of wales.... Example ...shows in grand theatre shows at liberty stadium... Clothes from musical/clothes from 70/80/90/2000.... I just think more creativeness needs to be added....

This is a profoundly interesting and well stocked museum. Full of history, explanation and the context of lives lived in Swansea. We were visiting the Annual Book Fair, and the lower portion of rooms in the museum were packed with tables and displays, plus books, pamphlets and maps - ready to hand to answer questions from residents or visitors. There were also experts on hand from a profusion and range of local history associations and societies. This week in October is Museum Week across Wales. You must put Swansea Museum on your 'to visit' wishlist, and bring the family too, of course...

Interesting museum located in hearts of Swansea, with exhibits ranging from Egyptian mummy to 1960s, High Street Swansea and various other aspects on skate park, surfing, taxidermy art, crockery / porcelain table wear, victorian Swnsea etc. Something for everyone and not as oppressive as some museums where they have too much information so the average passerby can skim through most areas. Would recommend this although they could do a timeline listing highs and lows of the area. Well done.... And friendly staff, AND ITS FREE TO ENTER.

This is a free resource with lots of local interest. A lot more than you may originally think. Some of it from not so long ago, so is interesting for all ages. Ideal for a couple of hours. And particularly for those times when the weather is inclement.

Great old building Full of very interesting artifacts of history & nature. Took 5 year old grandson and he loved the idea of trying to find the different themed mice that were hiding in and around the several areas of the museum. Of which he was kept busy while we could take in the array of things to look at.. Definitely recommend if you haven't been.. FREE ENTRY TOO...4/5

Great place to visit, lots of great items to look at, but too many on display are not labelled up sufficiently.

The museum had lots to look at and its a beautiful building. The staff were really lovely and one of the men in particular was fantastic with my kids and was happy to answer all the questions they had. I'd definitely reccomend a visit if you are in the area.

First time I've been to Swansea Museum and it was very interesting. Took my time around all the exhibits and was there for about 2 hours. The range of exhibits is also noteworthy: egyptology, Swansea in the 20th century, natural history, and others. Would definitely recommend if you're visiting Swansea

Very friendly staff, lovely exhibitions. Highly recommend! Parking is very limited but I parked in St David’s multi-storey and walked across in less than five minutes (parking is only £2 all day after 9:30)

This is a very good place to go and learn the history of Swansea. I even got to see a mummy 🤗. It's very an educational place and you don't have to pay to visit the place. Kids can roam freely under supervision of course and they even have some calligraphy classes on Saturdays if there is a volunteer Available. I highly recommend this place

Such an interesting place. Fascinating history both in fashion and Welsh history and the history of Swansea. Display of animals which was very interesting. Great place for adults and children.

An enjoyable informative experience. Although the egyptian exhibit was closed off due to the pandemic, the rest of the artifacts were in good condition and had a decent level information accompanying them!

A nice little museum with a collection of art and natural history items. One can get a taste of what Swansea has to offer through its history. Great collection of garments from a variety of periods.
