Just to correct Alex regarding his slightly incorrect comments below. Someone did indeed come out to the shop shouting at customers which indeed is disgusting but it was not the manager I can 100% guarantee that after 20 years with PPG (Johnstones Paints) the manager was not in on that particular day. Yes it has gone down hill at the store I still use it very often but I'd look at the higher managment at HO level where the communication and support have gone in a diffrent direction.

Have used this place a lot in the past to buy paint, but today was served by Gareth - the most insufferable rude, smug and condescending jobsworth I’ve encountered in a very long time. Won’t be coming back again.

Arrived here on Sat 25.06.16 at 11.56 with my elderly parents who just wanted to pick out a colour they had in mind for their new lounge, to find the guy in the shop closing the till, turning the lights off and about to put the shutters down, when asked what time it shuts he said 12.00 so I said we have 4 minutes just to pic a colour, you don't need to put the till back on. His reply was "l have to go somewhere now" well excuse me, thought your job was your job, sorry if you work gets in the way of your social life. If I was his employer I would not be too happy him turning away potential custome - very unhelpful

The Manager was clearly struggling with the pressure of running a Covid restricted store. There were more than 4 people waiting inside the store. So he just started shouting at the top of his voice that there were too many people in the store. Everyone just looked at him. I suggested that rather than just barking out ‘there were too many people in the store’, he should politely ask us to queue outside. But this concept seemed lost on him. I think he would make a good crowd controller at a football match. He wouldn’t need a megaphone either. On a positive note his staff were helpful, and very knowledgeable.

The piercing guy yelling out loud at customer just because I was searching for masking tape which was hidden on the restricted area. Masking tape would be something extremely general and decorators would pick from the shelves he said he didn’t have cameras that’s why hidden somewhere. Could be more polite in his approach with a customer who bought with cash a 700£ order a day earlier. Also his colleague tried to charge me the most expensive satinwood 2.5L I could pay £50 more expensive than farrow&ball. When I approached he reduced the price to 36£ which still way more expensive than London but okay. They mix FB match colours anyway for all this reasons stated above I would recommend to go elsewhere if possible Thanks

If your a tradesman, dont waste your time. As an account paying customer, every time they will try and charge you full walk in price and you have to haggle the price down to the correct trade level. If you want an easy life, just go to an independent johnstones paint stockest and get a reasonable price without the hassle.

Closes at 5pm... Unless you are buying a mix of paint, in which case they turn the mixing machine off earlier (4:45) so don't waste your time late in the day!

Great advice, friendly and do whatever they can to help you. Take them any colour details from any range and they will match it with their own, usually better quality paint.

Sam and Nigel are really helpful and hard working mixing paint all day.
