👍 Very very beautiful view from the top. But u can't actually park your vehicle on the dam. So park it after crossing the dam and then you can walk back to the dam. Have a good view, enjoy the time, click some pictures and then leave. But the view is really really beautiful. It's one way on the bridge... Very very beautiful view from the top. But u can't actually park your vehicle on the dam. So park it after crossing the dam and then you can walk back to the dam. Have a good view, enjoy the time, click some pictures and then leave. But the view is really really beautiful. It's one way on the bridge, so it might take sometime to cross it sometimes but the robots are always working so no problem

Gorgeous views from the Dam wall. It’s a great spot for locals and tourists. Points to note: 1. Cars queue to get over the bridge due to the one way system so be prepared to wait for a few minutes. 2. There are people selling things while cars queue and they’re very persistent.

It's a beautiful olden day bridge, quite long, one of the most beautiful spillways, really wide and wow, what a gorgeous view of the lower river with amazing rocks, even a waterfall in the distance thanks to the good rains. It's a stunning and spectacular place!

Absolutely beautiful and amazing that this was built 100 years ago. Goes to show how good they used to build back then. Such a pity about the litter in the dam though, it's heartbreaking.

Lovely sightseeing! It was very windy on the bridge though and you could lose your phone if not extra careful when taking pics (the wind is that strong). Also the traffic is terrible because of the narrow bridge so rather park on the side of the road and walk there.

This was absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking views of the dam. If it wasn't boiling hot, I was gonna brave the parking and walk for more time here. Will definitely be back

Yooooh I liked the place, naturally beautiful. The history that written on the wall, the name list of the laborers that built that dam wall. Everything was perfect. The traffic officers were also friendly and patience. Wow....

Beautiful waterfall. Hartbreaking to see the litter and garbage in the dam. Could do with a nice paint over all the graffiti.

On Freedom day holiday, I had the pleasure of visiting the Hartbeespoort Dam Wall, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience. This impressive engineering marvel not only holds back the waters of the Crocodile River, but also provides a spectacular backdrop for a day trip or weekend getaway. The wall itself is a sight to behold, standing 59 meters tall and stretching across 149 meters. It is fascinating to learn about the history and construction of this remarkable structure, which dates back to the early 20th century. There are informative plaques nearby that offer interesting insights, so make sure to take your time to read them. From the top of the dam wall, you are treated to panoramic views of the surrounding Magaliesberg mountain range and the beautiful Hartbeespoort Dam itself. I highly recommend bringing a camera to capture the stunning scenery! In addition to the dam wall, there are several activities in the area that cater to all interests, such as the nearby Harties Cableway, the Snake and Animal Park, and various hiking and biking trails. There are also numerous restaurants and cafes where you can relax and enjoy a delicious meal. Accessibility-wise, the Hartbeespoort Dam Wall is conveniently located just a short drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria. There is ample parking available, and the area is well-maintained and clean. All in all, I would highly recommend a visit to the Hartbeespoort Dam Wall. It is a great spot to unwind, take in the breathtaking views, and appreciate the impressive engineering that went into creating this landmark.

Serenity at its finest! Beautiful trip with loads of activities nearby. Dam level was 115% so we got to see the dam in full action.

Beautiful site with rushing water, cool heights and nice photo 📸 op. You'll have to stop here for a bit and walk across the dam wall on foot so you can best take in the sights.

The old dam wall stands majestic in the early morning light. The photos were taken from beneath the dam wall. The wall needs some maintenance to restore it to its former glory. But definitely worth a visit and exploring.

It is a very beautiful creation to set thy eyes upon. You park your car just before the bridge and take a walk to see the dam, the Waterfalls and the wall. It is worth seeing.

A wonderful spot to take in the beauty and heart of Harties. Particularly captivating during the wet season. Traffic here builds up significantly on weekend afternoons so best to make this your first stop for a day out of the city.

The views were amazing but the water was gross and had a strange smell to it! It’s truly a beautiful sight to see so I would definitely recommend stopping and taking a closer look when you are in the area.

It is a beautiful place to stop and take photo's. Still an amazing view. Looking towards the dam you see Kosmos and the boats most importantly it overlooks Hartbeespoort. On the other side you can se the waterfall and overlook the beautiful valley and you can see brits. On a clear day you can see very far on both ends. Take a chance and take a picture where you are in the middle...but take precautions and be careful for the cars. I added some drive by photo's

Beautiful and truly breathtaking view of the dam! It is a one-way for vehicles crossing the bridge, but there is parking available, so we parked off and then walked across the bridge just taking in the amazing view

I had nearly forgotten of the place as we were driving from horse riding & quad biking. Then I saw the dam and remembered we could just visit the area and check out the dam on either side. The pictures we took of the area explain a lot, and we enjoyed just watching the water flow and the mountain. My travelling companions even bought gifts from the vendors selling art before the wall. The area is mostly packed, and finding a parking spot might prove to be hectic, but surely you can find one depending on visitors at that time. The place it is a must-see if you are around Haarties.

It's only good if you go on a day that isn't busy. The traffic in these parts gets really bad and if the roads are wet cars will splash you. It also gets crowded quickly

Kaunispaikka. Auto parkkiin läheiselle parkkipaikalle ja kävellen katsomaan. Kapea kävelyväylä.

Don't get me wrong its a beautiful sight but the water weeds are taking over the whole dam. Don't go with your car windows open the roadside sellers will find any excuse to force you to buy stuff from them.

  • 4/5 Avishkar R. 9 months ago on Google
Overall great tourist attraction. Just be wary of the street venders. They point at your tyre as if something is wrong, then basically harass you to buy their item once you open your window. Their infamous conversion starter is trying to convince you that they are from your province

I liked this place..... it is a nice place to chill, have a great view. Do some boat cruising, and a lot of other activities. A lot of people go there to chill, take pictures 📸 and have a great view. Some go to celebrate their birthdays, do some braai and other activities.

Pretty drive over the wall. We went for a walk on the bridge just to get a better look at the waterfalls and the hyacinth floating on the surface. It was relatively quiet in the earlier parts of the morning, however it becomes busy and can be a long wait to get across the bridge.

On a quiet day in the week it is cool to drive past and view the scenery over the dam wall. On a busy day like weekend or holidays prepare to sit and wait for 15-45min in the queue especially when traffic officers decide to take over regulating the one direction stop go control. the hawkers will point at the front of your car to trick you into opening the window, dont do it there is probably nothing wrong with your car. Place is a bit dirty with all the hawkers and people hanging around. Be safe and if you have to get out do it in the day when there are folks around

This site not maintained as it should be. Many daily travelers and visitors. Road in poor no maintenance done. Ashamed that foreigners must witness decay here and all over South Africa. Hartbeespoortdam icon and needs to be preserved for future generations. Beautiful site, surrounding areas. Good breakaway from concrete jungle.

It's a beautiful view that is well worth the stop. Take the time to walk along the bridge as there are great photo opportunities from both sides. It can get congested at times, but the view easily makes up for a bit of traffic.

Love the water fall and this facility should be better maintained as it could be a great source of tourist and bring in many more tourists thereby creating jobs if better maintained,my rating is based on my joy of seeing the waterfall and hoping that it will be better maintained when next I visit.

Spectacular views of the dam and the gorge. Water flowing down the gorge and from the dam wall release was really an amazing sight. Thanks to SAPS for controlling traffic and vendors making it super safe for all of us. Well done guys...

Took a shot left after helping at Vulpro Vulture Sanctuary which is a mere 20 min from the Dam. Was nice to see thatvthe dam looked clean we couldn't see anything from where we were and the dam was full and flowing. Took a drive to the local flea market for a look around and get some ice cream . Was a great day out

It is an interesting place to stop and take photos, makes for a beautiful view of the dam. There is parking when you come from the road towards a side where there is the zoo.
