The new improvements on the chalets are wonderful but it seems they want to get rid of the old people and in with the younger generation. I know off 2 elderly who fell of the stairs trying to go bathroom. The beds was always downstairs and now its upstairs. Before you make a booking, ask them for an older version of a chalets when you are old and walking is a problem. The rest is great P

The resort is absolutely stunning!! So many different animals walking around, not quite tame but not afraid either. There are so many different activities here to suit everyone in the family, such as hiking, swimming, zip lining, game drives, squash, tennis and even paddle boards! Around the resort there are many cold water pools and at the main lodge there is a hot water pool as well. In the resort you can also find a spa, games room, restaurant and a little shop with a liquor store. The activities and hot water pool are all available at an extra cost and are not included with the accommodation price. Unfortunately the accommodation was not up to standard and felt quite dirty, as though it hadnโ€™t been cleaned before our arrival and although the information stated that the unit could sleep 6 adults the rooms were oddly setup and not very private, with one of the rooms being an open plan room.

Visited the resort a week ago. The gravel road was not nearly as bad as people in other comments described it to be. We had no issues. We had a room that seemed to be renovated pretty recently. I was very disappointed with the hygiene levels, we had roaches in the kitchen and the shower had mould. This for me is absolutely unacceptable. Whilst we enjoyed most of the facilities available, the staff are not very inviting or willing to share any information about anything. Not much activities for little kids. The super tube slide was filthy and looked abandoned. The water was green and full of debris. Would have loved it if the staff informed us about this before we purchased tickets. Whilst it was relaxing being away, I wouldnโ€™t return.

We are currently at Dikhololo, such a stunning place, kids had a blast. Staff are friendly, good to get away from the city. However when booking, look at not booking the studio apartments if you would like some rest and peace and quiet. Look at booking an apartment that is not attached. It is currently 00.19 and i can very clearly hear the music and other guests having a party. Looking forward to leaving the noise behind in a few hours. Other than that been good for the kids to have a great time!

Had a very positive experience with Frans the maintenance guy. Locked my keys in the car and he went out of his way to assist even though he was knocking off, he is an absolute star. Downside to this place is that you pay for absolutely everything. We brought two cars in and had to pay R200 for parking, this should be included in the accommodation fee. You pay for the heated pool and you pay for the super tube, it also closes Monday so don't bother booking in Monday, it's a waste of time. You definitely need your vehicle here because everything is spaced out and far from each other. The resort has everything you'll need for a memorable experience. There is a dirt road entering the resort so make sure to park your car and bring in the SUV. The animals are lovely and I enjoyed seeing some species I've never seen before. The room was good and had everything you'll need , downside is one bathroom that the upstairs unit has to share which makes it very awkward if you sharing with another couple . All in all, good resort. Will visit again

Our chalet was not fully equipped ... toaster was broken and there was no egg frying pan. But it was clean and neat and the family enjoyed it immensely. Definitely caters for children. All in all a great stay, if a bit pricey.

Looking for a quiet bush getaway? This is not it. You can hear your neighbours through the wall. Alcohol and drunks are allowed everywhere. No restriction to the pools if you are so drunk you can barely walk. Massive music party by the resort on Saturday. No wonder there is barely any wildlife there

Wow, what can I say about this fantastic resort. The chalet was very comfortable and had everything that you would need. The food at the restaurant was very enjoyable and there was a wide range. I must make mention of Rebecca our waitress, she could not do enough. My wife really enjoyed the spa treatment and said it was a tranquil setting. We went on a game drive and saw a lot of animals, Riaan really knows his stuff and made it very interesting. Thanks to all.

I was at house P14. It was nice and peaceful. I got the opportunity to see the animals up close in the morning by the window. I got to see the giraffes in our backyard which was amazing. The activities were extremely fun, more especially the quad biking and swimming. The food at the restaurant were amazing and the staff were very friendly and super helpful. The house I slept in was nice but I just wish there was some sort of heater for the cold nights.

A fantastic, relaxing weekend away with the family. So much to do. Kids are entertained with their kids/teen rooms. Aircon in the rooms. Fantastic pool area. Wonderful little shop to purchase odds and sods you may have left behind. Great restaurant.

We just spent the weekend there. Lovely facility. The updated chalets are lovely. The beds not so much. We did not sleep at all. Left feeling refreshed in our souls but our poor bodies were depleted. Also the windows were dirty - I understand that there is a lot of rain but still. Found staff friendly especially in the restuarant.

Fantastic resort with really great amenities. The only drawback is the rooms are close and paper thin walls so every conversation keeps you up. Rules of no noise after 22h00 are not enforced so when you have party people on the one side and early rising kids on the other side you end up with NO sleep...which spoils the rest...we left early to keep sane unfortunately.

Great place, great service, beautiful scenery, just perfect for escaping the your everyday life. The only thing I did not sit right with me is the 6 sleepers that we had booked were not 3 bedrooms as we had expected but rather 2 bedrooms with the other 2 single beds in the passage way to the other bedroom. Not ideal for 3 couples!

Unfortunately got one of the cottages that where not renovated, quite shabby. Leaking roof and aircon, remotes for aircon and TV doesnโ€™t work. 10km of bumpy gravel road to the resort, drive carefully in the rain. Beautiful location but not a great experience. Update, moved to one of the renovated apartments and itโ€™s really nice. Like moving from a shack to Camps Bay, was that bad. Customers should be informed about the state of the units before and hopefully not charged the same.

We had a leaking roof and our geyser stopped working two days before we left but were assisted immediately so the service was amazing. The gravel road was dreadful but if you have a bakkie then you'll be good to go. There are lots of bugs so have your bug spray on hand in the rooms.

We booked 5 nights at Dikhololo as a couple. This was my full time back at the reserve since 2013 and can I just say the upgrades and new look is gorgeous!! When arriving we were put into a unit quite a way from the main area. This would have been a lovely secluded place to stay but we were unfortunately having issues with our car battery and the reception very happily offered us a new unit right off the main area. This ended up actually being incredibly convenient. We had breakfast included and even though the food itself was really good it would have been nice to have a few more options. The breakfast buffet on Sat and Sun morning was hearty and very nice! The waiters at the restaurant are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. We had a couple of other meals at the restaurant and enjoyed everyone. The bar has a nice selection of drinks, cocktails are really disappointing though, as they are pre-mixes. But I appreciated the honesty of the lady before I ordered it. We enjoyed all the activities the resort has to offer - tennis, mini golf, heated pool, electric scooters as well as the spa. The one activity that was such a highlight of our trip was the bingo on the deck, was so entertaining with a host that handled everything so well. We unfortunately didnโ€™t win anything but still enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately there is some things that put I very slight damper on the trip: - The walls of the units (11A) are RIDICULOUSLY thin. We were next to a family with small kids and it was not the best feeling waking up at 6AM to screaming children. The worst part is you could hear the parents trying to get the kids to quieten down, meaning they themselves were not having a good time of the morning as they knew they were making a noise. You guys have to do something about the walls!! - The litter through the reserve was a HUGE disappointment. You have such a lovely reserve. Send a team every now and then through the reserve to pick up the litter. All in all it was a lovely trip, and worth every penny for the 5 nights. Thank you and we hope to be back again soon!

The booking process went smoothly but the long, rutted dirt road was less pleasant. The upgraded facilities pleasantly surprised us. Unfortunately we found the restaurant quite over-priced for the fare on offer. Nice staff but rather slow. After the trip, we longed for hot showers or a bath but were disappointed to have no hot water and weird gurgling from the pipes when water was let out the bath, but coming from the basins?! Then there's the noise from surrounding units. The loud conversations and music from next door after 10pm - so not cool! Payment for everything one uses, also added to our impression that we're being exploited. Why pay for use of a pool? We shall, most likely, stick with our well-known, all inclusive haunts in future. Pity as we were really looking forward to old fashioned, Afrikaner hospitality.

I loved it. it was so serene, so tranquil. Everything is just amazing. The service, the clean rooms.... I can't remember the last time, I had such a good time. Only two things that put a damper on things. 1. The chalets walls are so thin, especially in the cluster where four chalets are together. You can hear everything from your neighbors. I'm sure the chalets on their own, are quite quiet. Still, it was wonderful. 2. The lost and found needs some work. I forgot something very personal and after several calls, I did not get it back, even though I know for certain it was exactly where I forgot it. Found out from other people who in the past forgot stuff, they never got their stuff back either. So that's a lost cause. But in the overall, it was worth every single moment.

Very nice lodge with lots of activities but be prepare to pay for them. Lovely get away with animals on our doorsteps. Just dissapointed with the bedrooms the windows are very high up and the roof on the one side is very low but the place is very clean and the renovation is beautiful just wish they can do more for the bedrooms. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and activities will definitely come back. There's a convenient store on the premises and bottle store which gets big thumbs up ๐Ÿ‘

Quiet evenings, Wild/ Tame animals - that are very enquisitive - the great options to just enjoy or relax. Various chalets grouping not too far from the main complex (Max estimated 1100m). Great routes to walk and encounter Springbok, Sable, Zebra, Eland, Njala, Koedoe, Wildebeest, Giraffe, and Seating in the field just to enjoy nature.

NOISE NOISE NOISE! What a waste of a weekend. They advertise no music is allowed. Took time off only to come to party central, was supposed to be a nice peaceful weekend as advertised. Massive groups of people with blaring music from morning till night. Think twice before booking here if you want a peaceful weekend. No rules are enforced at all, and people play loud music from their cars at the pool and from their chalets. Give it a miss.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle with family in tow this is the place to be. Safe for the kids. Spectacular views and very relaxing. Just need an SUV to tackle over 10km of gravel road to get to the resort.

Incredible time here, no load shedding! Well kept premises, delicious all day restaurant food. The entertainment was a great range for my nephews of 9 and 11 as well as us adults in their 40โ€™s! We left really well rested! Pillows could do with an upgrade for the old croaks with stiff necks, and shop could stock up on a few more items like bacon ๐Ÿฅ“ some picnic ๐Ÿงบ food.

What a lovely weekend we had at Dikhololo! The rooms we're very clean and the kitchen was fully equipped. The animals and activities they have to offer were lovely and not to expensive either!

Everything was great except for a really poor experience at the spa. Wife and daughter went for a manicure and pedicure and came back complaining about the treatment. Hardly any color options for the nails, girls indicated that they specialize in massages and not nails, had to tell them to switch on the LED UV lamp, nearly ripped off my daughterโ€™s toe nail, etc. Why do they offer nail services if they are not qualified?

What a great relaxing getaway for our anniversary. Our rooms were nice, tidy and neat. With it being cleaned every day during our stay. "our bed was as hard as a concrete sleaper" There are a big verity of animals to see without even driving. They come to visit around your place and even if you take a small stroll. The staff were all friendly and assisted us as needed. The rooms you need to purchase prepaid electricity for the aircons. They say R50 will be sufficient for 3 days but it's not. We will definitely recommend this place for the first time viewers. There are multiple activities and facilities on site.

I absolutely loved our holiday at Dikololo. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit but next time we will book a bigger place. Although it was a 2 bedroom apartment, it was very small, especially if you have young kids. There is a lot for the kids to do, including a beautiful games room, putt putt, water slide, outdoor chess, jungle gyms, outdoor jumping pillow, and so much more! The only 2 things I can complain about are the food at the restaurant. It was absolutely terrible! The pizza tastes like cardboard and don't bother ordering the waffles because they arrived burned. The second complaint is that the indoor heated pool was way too hot. Obviously, I wasn't able to test the exact temperature, but it was hotter than bath water for sure! Besides that, I will definitely return to Dikololo and recommend it to my friends and family.

Nice indoor and outdoor pools, nice kids activities and facilities, hotel rooms have been renovated recently. There are no big 5 animals so you can run/walk/drive around and see buck and vervet monkeys. Only one restaurant so you are limited when staying at the hotel without self-catering options. Lots of aggressive bees - one stung my husband.

Checking in went smoothly. The room was clean and ready. We were short on a few kitchen utensils, but was promptly helped when we called reception. The restaurant on the deck at the main complex was disappointing. Service to get a cup of coffee took nearly an hour. I asked to see the manager, but nothing came of it. The next day the same issue. I went looking for the manager and explained what happened. The feeling I got was that she was not interested in my complaints.

A beautiful resort with a wide variety of activities for adults and children. The food was amazing, especially the lamb curry and chicken pasta. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Definitely going back soon!

My little family and I were there for the week and we had a wonderful stay. Cleaning staff and waitresses are very friendly, Receptionists not too friendly but if you kind your own business then you'll have a pleasant stay. There is a 12km very sandy not so nice gravel road but small cars can get through. Swimming area is very relaxing. Walls super thin so pray that you don't have noisy neighbors. We'll definitely be back though.

Positives: The facilities were very clean, modern and well run. Lots of small detail went into Dikhololo, especially for the kids. Very impressed. Negatives or room for improvement : The 2 kids pools at main public area should also be heated. The road signage to our Chalet was a bit confusing, resulting in us driving up and down and into other chalets driveways (especially the sign going towards C18 with the sign placed earlier then it should or arrow is incorrect) The staff were not very friendly and welcoming. The extra activities are a bit pricey. Otherwise would recommend it!

For a break away from life and obviously the kids, it's perfect. Really more of a holiday for them. Gym was a bonus for us. Please look at buying weekend/week passes for slides, would rather pay a once off for the time, than constant 10 slides at a time. Restaurant in my opinion is a little over priced, granted its a vacation destination and and and, but then again, we only drank coffee there, we avoided mainstream as much as possible. But we do enjoy going here, and will carry on for the foreseeable future

  • 3/5 Wynand Van Der N. 2 years ago on Google
The resort is fantastic, lots of things to do for all ages so one can really be entertained. The only problem is the walls of the units are paper thin so noisy neighbors with TV will cause lack of sleep, and there is no implementation of their "no noise after 22h00" because people party with loud noise until all hours of the night and then people with young children are up by 05h30 so you lucky to get 4 hrs sleep a night which simply spoils everything.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ What a nice place for getting away for the day. Relaxing with the fishing rod in the water and a beer in the hand. Nice clean environment, green grass to have a picnic next to the dam and a play park for the kids. Ablution blocks are clean and friendly staff.
