Where to start.. The room upstairs, super dangerous for kids with those stairs, I have a 3 year old and it actually had a sign that said no rails! The lounge with the bed leaves no room for privacy. And yes, they say you should request at reception for any changes you would like to make your stay comfortable, but what changes would they make to accommodate a small child's sleeping arrangement. The toilet kept making a loud noise when flushed. Lack of ventilation in the place seeing how windows can't be opened due to the monkeys. Water pressure in the bathroom very low, so running a bath is very slow process. The day before we were scheduled to leave, this lady comes and starts packing up our towels, and asked me what time am I going to get done with my packing...reception told her we were scheduled to leave that day. Simple case of lack of communication! While I was in the bath, a male employee wanted to check the bathroom for a blocked drain, which wasn't even our unit. Lack of communication! Entertainment poor. The entertainment area was mostly out of order. My 3 yo was playing at the swings where there was a wasp nest swarming and nobody battered an eyelid, until someone gets stung one day. My kids 10 year old son and 3 year old daughter actually got bored after a while due to the limitations of the entertainment area. The bins are lacking closer to the dam side as rubbish was strewn around and I couldn't see any close by bins. Everything is charged for. No coffee or tea or sugar in the room, but they have a kettle. And room service just comes in to tidy up, and if you need towels cleaned, you can pay!! That said, I have been to many holiday places and Mt Amanzi by far ranks the lowest when it comes to service and creating a safe family environment. The animals make it a unique place and that's about where the excitement stops. For the amount they charge, it's definitely not worth it. I have spent far less money on way better accommodation, but at least now we know better!

Lovely family orientated resort. Well kept and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Located on the banks of the Crocodile River with beautiful views of the Magaliesberg mountain range. Good variety of entertainment at the resort and within easy range of lots of interesting tourism attractions and shops. Always guaranteed to have a great break!

Our room for 5 was very small. The kitchen layout, although tight was sufficiently stocked with the necessary items. The entertainment team were absolutely amazing. Can't say the same for the reception amd housekeeping staff. Sufficient safe facilities to keep the kids busy. The hot water pool could be bigger. The cold pool at the far end of the property should be covered and made warm so it can be properly used even in the winter months. The tuck shop was a bit small and expensive. The shopkeeper could try to be friendlier.

The loadshedding was a nightmare. Is there no way to make it easier for the stay there. Just maybe one charging light and a gas plate. The warm swimming pool is also very dark and it's so small. With all the people there there wasn't space to swim and the cold swimming pools are all freezing. A cleanup along the river will also be a good idea. Otherwise was it a nice stay. The rooms are very clean. The restaurants food was excellent and the scenery takes you're breath away

Our room D61 was not so clean, even Saturday our beds were not properly made. Outside furniture was never cleaned for our stay we couldn't sit outside. The facility was nice, actually it was beautiful. The kids enjoyed the pools and all other activities. The services were just fine, though I wish the reception desk could work till late since the check-ins are also late. The restaurant services are extremely excellent they catered us to their best ability 5 star 🌟 for them. Lastly, we would appreciate a free wifi

Lovely grounds, peaceful but unfortunately lately with a few groups of guests not adhering to the no noise policy, probably not used to rules and regulations, late nights, early mornings and Saturday evenings.

We booked a 5 sleeper Chalet for 4 days 3 nights and it's acceptable. A double bedroom on the ground floor with the kitchen and bathroom, and 3 single beds up stairs. The place is very well maintained and very child friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here and the staffs are very friendly. The only thing I wish is that there's wifi. At this point I felt that wifi should be standard. But not a big deal since we spent most of our time out door so it wasn't a deal breaker.

An awesome week away but still close enough to jhb that you can attend to any emergencies. The rooms and areas are clean and well-maintained. It's my first time here during mid-week and I loved how quiet it was. Ideal for some 'me' time and affordable.

Most horrible place we have ever booked into. We are supposed to stay this week but will be checking out tomorrow. Our unit (for 5) is the smallest, darkest, dingiest place ever. Both my husband and I are feeling depressed in stead of invigorated. There seems to be nice units, but not having been given a choice , we are in a bird's cage. Our braai area is on the road, facing the neighbour's toilet pipes. The back of our "chalet" borders the laundry facility and the noise has been unbearable. We called in our unhappiness but were told that there was nothing to be done. We have zero view. No windows. No space and no rest and quiet. We intend to never come to Mount Amanzi again. And will not recommend it. See photos of our view and the braai area. So terribly disappointed. πŸ˜” Update: since our complaints, we have been moved to another chalet. This is 100% better. Stunning view over a dam and only construction noise this time. Wanted to also comment on the checking in process. It is time consuming and painful. We had to complete all our personal information on 4 different forms, even though we brought a printout of our reservation confirmation. We appreciate the new accommodation, but are still irritated by the construction in the unit next to us. See new photos.

Mount Amanzi is truly family orientated. So much things for the kids and adults to do. Friendly staff. One thing please have the reception staff advise holiday makers checking in about the adventures to be had for a very low price. We only got to know about this the Wednesday before we left on the Friday. Other than that a truly amazing holiday we had. Shout out the lady running the Entertainment Centre awesome person!! Thank you πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

Beautiful place to unwind. Kids had so much fun with the daily activities. Beautiful scenery, mountains, river, dams for fishing. Have a heated pool too. The restaurant and the shop/snack bar are so reasonable. I hear in summer one must prepare for mosquitoes.

It was OK clear, with clear play area which there's much activities to be done there. Very clean saroundings...the place was OK too but I was expecting more than that for me for my price as we all had to share one bath room my mom & the children. It took us long to prepare to go somewhere everyday because we had to wait for each other to finish bathing. The cleaners were very good but they had to change the sheets once the whole stay & we had kids playing around. Anyway it's OK & I liked how the houses are situated. Enough parking & closed washing rail if u happen to wash something. I enjoyed the food for the restaurant...nice. Very friendly stuff I thank them. The entrance is beautiful & the orderly of the security πŸ‘ŒI felt safe with my family the wheel time.

No WiFi rooms No cleaning service Sundays, extra charge Floor on first floor of room rickety Bathroom old fashioned Unpleasant smell in bathrooms Difficult to get through to reception to confirm booking Suppose to get a R500 discount voucher for next visit, failed to inform all guests and when voucher handed to reception, no notification sent further so unable to claim. Survey at help desk Unhelpful Positives Centrally located Grounds well maintained Certain staff very friendly and helpful

Well maintained. Lovely grounds. Good facilities. I had a minor medical emergency and staff were caring and helpful. Ideally located for Gauteng dwellers.

We had an excellent December break here! Facilities were immaculate and service was great. The overall pricing for food and drinks were very reasonable for South Africans too. Didn't have a good fishing experience over the few days, at all the dams though. Thanks

Amazing experience, highly recommend. The ladies at the spa know what they are doing. The Khoi Khoi massage is to die for. Friendly staff and great units. Loved every minute of our stay.

What kind of resort doesn't allow day visitors? We have family staying here and came for Christmas, on paper it clearly states that day visitors can book from 6:00 to 18:00 and visitors of residents can book from 08:00 22:00, so why, Mount Amanzi staff and management, are we not allowed to spend Christmas with our family? Why does reception say "We don't allow day visitors" but ON PAPER it clearly states we are welcome. Utterly pathetic. Found a better place.

We come back again and again. Love the nature and tranquility. Providing swimming towels would be great. But it's a lovely place with friendly helpful staff.

Did not like the fact that the double bed is in the lounge area. Awkward when the upstairs needs to go to the bathroom during the night. Found it difficult to get in and out the bath for a shower. Staff were friendly, and Chalet was clean with nice linen.

As our Families 1st holiday, we really enjoyed the resort, entertainment area and the breathtaking scenery. The Kiosk Take away food was so yummy, we had the Chicken schnitzel burger, beef burger & chips, russian & chips and also cheese & ham toatsted with chips. It was super affordable and the portions were big to fill our bellies. Reception & housekeeping was amazing with wonderfull service and all round friendliness. We just love Mount Amanzi and can't wait for our next family holiday. A special thank you to Joanna & Dollie from house keeping for keeping our unit so clean and also thank you to Warren and the reception team.

Accomodation was shocking ...1 very small bathroom and toilet for 6 people. I cut short our week and checked out after 2 days. Incredible location..set in view of the Magaliesberg mountains and next to the Crocodile River. Everything else on the resort is just great and a great getaway if you have kids But who ever was in charge of the design of accomodation ...Eish!

Very nice place, exept for the following issues. Heated pool is not heated at all, restaurant gives wrong food, but paid the correct amount, mini market is not stocked at all (no ice, no white bread) sells broken toys (water gun), no change (R5's) for the entertainment centre

What a wonderful place to spend some much needed leisure time with the family. Beautiful scenery. Springbok on the doorstep. Heated and Cold pools are strategically placed so that everyone gets to enjoy it without it becoming too over-crowded. Monkeys are naughty but so fun to watch. Fishing and the most exquisite black swan. The Hartebeespoort Dam wall just outside the window. So many fun activities for kids and adults alike. Special shout out to Joshua from the staff who made us feel so welcomed. Wish we booked to stay much longer. Can't wait for our next visit. Thank you Mount Amanzi for such an awesome stay.

What an epic family holiday. The pools are not too deep that we always had to be in with our kids (ages 8, 4, 3) and we enjoyed every minute. Loved the warm pool, definitely a must see, and not too far of a drive. Close to all harties attractions too. Our unit was clean. Beware of the monkeys when carrying snacks around.

I had a delightful weekend stay here. The serene surroundings and picturesque views offered a perfect escape for us, including our kids with one who was celebrating her birthday. The lodge's rustic charm combined with modern amenities created a cozy atmosphere. The highlight was the dam view from my room, making each moment incredibly soothing and calming. A tranquil retreat for nature lovers seeking relaxation. Definitely coming back as soon as the new year starts!

Enjoyed the stay, the staff was friendly, the units were very well equipped with everything that you need. The terrain is well kept, loads of green grass to kick ball and play with the kids, quiz session around the pool. When we book again, I will spend a little bit more money and book a 2-bedroom unit. There is lots to do in and around the area.

Such a gorgeous place. Had 2 vacations there and enjoyed both thoroughly. Only complaint is the closed games room on Friday, and my to little time there.

I went to the restaurant, no aircon working, one fan blowing in your face, food was great but the restaurant really needs a fixmeupper Also the warm indoor swimming pool was for older generation but now the whole resorts children are jumping and screaming in there. I at least come her 3 times a year especially for the warm pool but I think I will change next year.

Good affordable place to go for a family holiday. Self catering accommodation had comfortable beds, nice braai area with table and chairs to enjoy socializing with friends and family. Has a fully equipped kitchen. Towels, soap, handcream and sanitizer was provide. Aircon in the facility was also nice for the cold winter evenings.

I went there with my sister for a day visit and it look amazing. Great place for stay with children!!! More than enough pools, play area's and walking routes. There is an element of peace and harmony there. Covid safety is up to standard.

We were only there for a weekend. Lots of families checking in but registration went very smoothly. Our toaster didn't work and was replaced within half an hour. Rooms clean and comfortable. We went there to relax and we did.

We enjoyed our stay. The resort was very well maintained and clean. The quiet environment with the sound of the river makes you feel instantly on holiday. The only draw back was that the check-in was a long process and when you pay the high deposit with card you must almost wait 3 weeks for a refund. (10 to 14) working days. Thanks for a great weekend.

Very peaceful place to just kick back and relax. The scenery is beautiful and also has loads of activities for families. It also has nice fishing spots in the facility and you can even fish in the river. Staff are friendly so I most definitely recommend it.

A month ago had a relaxed fun 3days, been coming to your resort for almost 8yrs our weekend trips atleast twice a year always enjoy the atmosphere of the clean resort, for the first time had great service at reception. I think it's time the the bathrooms are revamped tiles are looking really old and dirty, walk in showers would be best, the unit we had one of the kitchen cupboards are damp odour was bad.

This is a wonderful resort. Ideal for families with a lovely games room, tennis court & swimming pool. The chalets are neat & tidy & there is a wonderful little lake for the kiddies to try their hand at fishing. The putt putt course is nice & food at the restaurant is well priced & delicious. Situated in Harties, there is an endless source of attractions around to visit. Glen Afric, Harties Cableway, Chameleon Village, Boaters World Adventures, Pretville, French Toast & much more.

this is such a breath taking place that we visited in September and my fiancΓ© made it even more special when he proposed to me there. very soothing, very peaceful. I am still not satisfied because we didn't get a chance to explore the whole place because of time but we will definitely be coming back to explore more. I love the fact that it is child friendly and there are so many activities to engage in. the staff was amazing and friendly, the rooms were spotless. i think my honeymoon will be with Mount amanzi, you guys are amazing.

Friday check-ins are busy. Have your reservation details and R1500 breakage deposit (cash or card) on hand. Shop was out of certain essentials and no meat is stocked so pack accordingly. Well maintained units and grounds. Friendly staff. Higly recommended for stays longer than a weekend as there is simply too much to do as to fit into 2-3 days

First time back in quite some time. Although this is a fairly old resort, it is still well maintained. Love the fact that it is only a short drive from Pretoria. Staff are very friendly and the takeaway foods are tasty and relatively cheap. The only negative to mention- we were not allowed to play putt-putt because they apparently couldn't spare a staff member, due to Monday check out and check in times. Quite weird that, never had that excuse before.

It's ok. Over the last 10 years the quality level has gone down quite a bit. But still comfy clean and neat, we had a good stay thank you.

This golden oldie resort is very well kept and is administered very efficiently. The accommodation units are kept brilliantly clean and sanitised. The units are comfortable and well furnished and equipped. The facilities are plentiful to keep all ages occupied. The setting if the resort is beautiful and scenic.

  • 3/5 Marius F. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful location with the mountains. Many things to do close by. The restaurant staff is just really slow The rooms are more suited for a family with 2 adults 2 kids as the main bedroom is in the kitchen and the second bedroom upstairs from the kitchen The small warm water pool does get crowded over weekends/holidays

  • 2/5 Anita 1 year ago on Google
Reception was fantastic. Not suitable for young children because of open stairs. Our bed was next to the bathroom with noisy extraction fan that is linked to the light, in the living area. Burgers at Cafe where great, avoid the slushies! Cleaning ladies were a pain, no people skills! They were rude and made us feel like criminals, checking that we didn't steal anything before we were allowed to leave. I've never experienced such a rude exit. The mattresses and pillows where super uncomfortable. Noisy neighbouring guests where left to go on way past 11pm. Not a good sleep. Activities could use a lot of work!

  • 2/5 Martin O. 1 year ago on Google
Great location and epic scenery. But the soul of the place is gone. Things only open at certain times so the entertainment area is a dead zone during quiet periods, the ideal time to go there and avoid the traffic. The staff, with a few exceptions, seem disengaged and unaware of the importance of their role in a great holiday experience. It's not what it was before. It's mainly mother nature keeping things afloat, and that's still a blessing to be fair.

  • 5/5 Gurshwin S. 2 years ago on Google
It is a beautiful getaway destination for adults and kids alike. There are many different entertainment options available. The swimming pools are beautiful and the place is clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a wonderful weekend getaway.

Came to reseption found out there was not just a double booking but a triple booking. And we weren't the only one who had the problem there were about 10 other people with the same. After 2 hours of waiting they found a 5sleeper unit for the 8 of us. We booked a 8 sleeper (2 bedroom 2 bathroom) the 5 sleep is a studio with a loft.
