Excellent service and enjoyable and delicious food. Went for dinner during the week and it was a great experience if not a bit pricey. Really enjoyed the views and beautiful sunset.

Absolutely loved this place. The service is excellent, we were well taken care of from the moment we arrived until we left. The breakfast was great, not much variety for the buffet dinner, but the food was good. The kids club was great and my little ones enjoyed it. The spa was just amazing as well and we enjoyed our treatments. The only thing that I would appreciate in future is an upgrade of the rooms. They are slightly dated and dark. But besides that, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for somewhere to relax and unwind not too far from the city.

Came to stay the night for my wife’s birthday and thought for a change from the hustle and bustle of the city let’s check this place out. Booked a suite with a pool on the deck which is not cheap and ordered a cake via email to surprise my wife, well to our surprise when we checked in I double checked with the front desk if the cake is ready and was told yes. Got to the room and firstly the pool was a mess and no cake. Finally got to the highlight of the day and that was the massage. Can’t fault that. Will definitely not return and for the prices… food terrible, customer service terrible and the most polite staff were the golf cart drivers. It’s 9pm and my wife’s birthday nearly over and still no cake! Tsogo Sun maybe you should send some secret guests here to get some honest reviews. Very disappointed, this venue definitely doesn’t meet the standards of the prices. 10k for the night… would have had a much better time booked in at Monte Casino

This place is so beautiful and tranquil. It feels like you're somewhere in Mpumalanga Province but it's literally in Gauteng! I had such a lovely time. The views were beautiful. The food was delicious and the service was good. All the staff around the hotel greet the guests and that's a big plus for me. I love that you can also bring your family as it's kid friendly with play area. There's also heated pools. I would definitely visit again.

During our recent stay at Mount Grace, we had the pleasure of encountering an exceptional individual whose hospitality skills truly stood out. Paul, the extraordinary young man we had the privilege of meeting, demonstrated a profound understanding of hospitality services that left us thoroughly impressed. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that Paul keenly grasped the needs of weary travelers. Recognizing our fatigue after a long journey, he promptly provided us with refreshing water, showcasing his attentiveness and dedication to guest comfort. What set Paul apart was his willingness to go above and beyond the typical call of duty to ensure our stay at Mount Grace was nothing short of exceptional. Navigating the resort was made effortlessly enjoyable with Paul's assistance. Whether it was chauffeuring us to our rooms on a go-cart or offering his guidance on various amenities, he consistently exhibited a genuine commitment to making our experience memorable. His friendly demeanor and proactive approach truly enhanced our overall impression of Mount Grace. It's clear that Mount Grace is fortunate to have Paul as part of its team of outstanding employees. If you're fortunate enough to cross paths with him during your stay, you're sure to enjoy a delightful and personalized experience that goes beyond the ordinary. Paul's dedication to ensuring guests feel welcome and valued truly sets him apart as a shining example of exemplary hospitality.

Booked a 2 night stay at the hotel checked out early and only stayed for 1 night. Booked the Executive Room and I was very disappointed, the room was old and smelled mouldy when we arrived, woke up with bad sinus and headache in the morning. The carpets smell and look old and definitely need to be deep cleaned. Not worth the money paid. The general service wasn’t great, when we went to get a table for lunch the staff basically looked at us like we were lost or in the wrong place (it definitely felt like we were) and it took a while for them to give us a menus. The only good thing about our stay was breakfast, which was quite nice and the breakfast staff were more helpful and friendly. When we checked out early we weren’t asked why we were leaving so soon, just told that we wouldn’t get a refund and they sent us off on our marry way… I honestly wouldn’t go back! There are much better hotels in Magaliesberg and Cradle area… Mount Grace isn’t worth the very expensive price!

Absolutely amazing service and amazing food! The spa treatments were amazing as well! The hotel and spa staff were so professional! Only thing I did not enjoy was the bed was too hard and I woke up with a sore neck the next day. The grounds are beautifully kept. There are golf carts to take you and your luggage around. I recommend you book in advance if you plan to go to the spa on Friday or Saturday as they become fully booked quickly. We visited the Twist for breakfast, ate a brunch at the Spa cafe and had dinner at the Rambling Vine during our stay. All 3 places served delicious food!

Definitely not what it used to be when we visited 6 years ago :’( We paid R2800+ per room per night and then there is only one bedside lamp. I phone reception, they put me through to housekeeping and got told… “yes ma’m some of the rooms only have one bedside lamp”. A king size bed for two people sharing…and only one bedside lamp???! The bed does not have a flat sheet… only a duvet. The shower has lots of mould. Overall everything is just a bit below standard: maintenance, gardens, food, ambience. Decor and furniture is old, outdated and worn. No fresh flowers anywhere to be seen inside. It was a cold weekend…none of the fireplaces were burning. Staff is friendly. We remember Mount Grace very differently when we visited in 2016. Very sad and really disappointed 😔

The service was excellent. There is a definite change in the atmosphere since the change in ownership. The old world charm and oppulence Mount Grace represented has been changed and updated. How it will be received, will depend on personal taste. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and check in and out very effective.

It was an amazing experience. The spa was amazing and so was the floatation pool and jacuzzi. The staff were amazing. I was on crutches and they were very attentive to my needs. Although the terrains may not be very crutches friendly.

The spa is really good, best part of the stay. The service at the restaurant really needs to be improved, you sit far too long without being helped and since there are no alternative options you would expect the service to be better. I’m typing this review for the last 15 minutes waiting for someone to take my order… really poor, this is the reason I wouldn’t return to stay here. Accommodation good, spa great, restaurant service poor, not sure if they are understaffed that they can’t cope with the volume of people.

Spending 3 days and 2 nights at a conference here was really good. The rooms and the meals were excellent. The warm water pool below the main pool was an amazing find, but the gardens and the buildings do need a little looking after as they are in need of a some care and attention to detail as an overdue. The beauty of the surrounds and sounds and many birds early morning and late evening with sunrise and sunset allow one to overlook the maintenance.

Pretty location and serene environment. Coffee and juice available, but no snacks. Had lunch, but limited menu and was not impressed with salad and quiche that I ordered. Treatment rooms were nice and therapists good.

Lovely spacious rooms, great outdoor space, good service from staff and prices are quite reasonable. Overall a great stay. Their mountain bikes are not up to scratch, but their spa is a better choice.

Mount Grace Hotel and Spa is a lovely place to stay at Magaliesburg. There have friendly staff and a helpful team. There are also a wide variety of activities to do there and great facilities made available to the guests. The restaurants could provide more vegetarian lunch and dinner options, though. Overall it was a relaxing experience and there are also nice walks and trails close by. The car entrance is a little narrow though and also may require a sharp turn. This car entrance and the road leading up to the hotel could be improved because it can become a little concerning when it becomes busy. I feel that the eating options are a bit limited at the hotel, though and the place could benefit with smaller shops or stores opening up to better cater to the guests.

I can't stop talking about the food at this place. Was there for a conference (16 Feb to 18 Feb). And the options they have available for everyone were exceptional. From breakfast to dessert. A very big big compliment to the Chefs. The place is also beautiful, has some hidden gems that I only got to see when we were playing "Amazing race". It's tranquil and a perfect place for a getaway from the city. Only thing I can fault the is the carpets in the bedrooms. For someone with sinuses that are triggered easily, that was a thumbs down. But once again, the Chefs outdid themselves!

Some waiters didn't know how rewards system works. I was made to stay in the reception after dinner, because he couldn't use the reward speed point correctly. He could not let me go even when he knew I could still pay when I check out. Train your people

My stay was terrible. Staff unhelpful. Aircon wasn’t working in our deluxe bedroom. Don’t ever ask for room service for the breakfast, you will end up paying for a breakfast meal that you have already paid for simply because you are having it in your room. It was freezing and the duvet is cheap and overused and thin!!! Its a 2 star hotel!!

Mount Grace has a rare charm that sooths the soul. Amazing staff, wide open gardens surrounded by stunning indigenous forests and complete peace and quiet create a perfect balance that cannot be matched by the many modern cookie-cutter hotels.

Stunning location in the heart of Magaliesburg. An array of rooms available, all with views of the foothills beneath. Most of the rooms surround the two pools, one of them heated, and close enough to the bar and restaurant. Food was a mixed bag. Amazing for lunch and lacked nuance for dinner. A great experience nonetheless. Amenities are clean, in need of a little update but true to the hybrid plush bush experience the team aims to provide.

Whatever you do, give this place a skip! This once beautiful haven, which we used to frequently visit has become a 1 star poor show hotel. We have tried on 3 occasions to give this hotel the credit it deserves, only to be disappointed every time. This last time was the final nail in the proverbial coffin. As I sit here, I am still waiting for my food, which was ordered at 1 pm. It's now 16:00. I am only here because I am waiting on my family whom I have treated to a treatment for their anniversaries. (An hour session which only lasted 40 minutes) They fortunately received their food an hour and a half later. My food has still not arrived. The other two times we were here, was for our anniversary. We had booked the treetop rooms, and we're told we had been bumped down, because they were fully booked. Well, I did receive a complimentary invite back, to the treetops but was again, bumped down due to "over booking." It seems management has gone at this once prestigious hotel, and had lost its luster. Avoid this place like the plague! Spend your money somewhere else! It's just not worth the effort. There were plenty patrons complaining today as I walked around enjoying the views. I felt terrible for the poor staff, as they tried to explain and cover for the management who were absent! A real shocker! P.S. Don't order the salad! It's full of sand.

Went for 4 night stay getaway. The drive out was great not too far out of Joburg. Location is serene and peaceful. I stayed in luxury room with balcony and bush view from the bath. Walk in closet and heated tiled floors in bathroom. The food and service was exceptional 👌🏾 🙌. The heated pool was lovely. And I had the best massage at the spa. Spa facilities were excellent. My only wish was that the childrens facilities were more upgraded. Left my daughter there while at the spa. She complained a bit. Overall beautiful stay.

Great location, however: 1. Rooms and bathrooms need a serious revamp! 2. Smoking laws need to be taken seriously. Was surprised to see that smokers were allowed to smoke freely within the garden sitting area (mind you, there were kids around, including our 10-year old daughter). We raised this issue with 2 waiters…unfortunately we were given excuses. We will not be going back there for sure!

So I am at the hotel currently and it is a magical place, however, I am thoroughly disappointed. I'm a first time mum, and took my first break away from my baby at their spa. My hubby kept our baby Whilst I had my treatment. After my treatment I decided to join them for a cup of tea but was asked to leave because babies are not allowed. I was told that they thought I'd leave once I was done. So that for me was a great disappointment.

The Spar at Mount Grace is an excellent place to relax. Once you have had your treatment you may use the pool facilities and restaurant. Choose from the spar menu which you can find online. You must place your food order a while in advance as it is made in the main hotel. The garden is award winning and is beautiful. Children are not admitted here.

There are different types of Rooms. For those who would love privacy, there are chalets with their own private swimming pools. I love the nice luxury cabin feel, surrounded by trees and birds chirping in the surroundings. They have golf carts used to collect the guests to/from the reception, rooms, spa,gym ,conference rooms, and restaurants...etc "SERENE"

Sadly, this establishment does not meet expectations. The quality of the service has deteriorated rapidly - 80% of the staff here have a bad attitude and little knowledge about top-class hospitality, not so much as a greeting from most. Very odd. Buffet breakfast is good, in-room dining and dinner at the Rambling Vine very underwhelming and not value for money. Rooms are tired and in desperate need of an update. Won’t be back in a hurry.

Room was dirty The Bathroom had a funny smell They didn’t have air fresheners or toilet spray They we’re spider webs everywhere including restaurant The food is over priced and horrible The wine is overpriced. We also didn’t have electricity on Saturday night. Good service though, the stuff was helpful and very kind.

Beautiful location with amazing staff. Definitely a place you can and must keep going back too. They truly care about great service and go out of their way to assist. Thank you Barend and Michael for taking the time to listen to our feedback and be people of substance. Rooms do need a bit of maintsince and upgrades which I believe will.start soon. Breakfast is amazing! There is no evening entertainment at/after dinner like other hotels.

Some of the older rooms could do with a carpet clean. The service was patchy. Our waiter Lucky was fantastic but the rest of the time the service was slow. The food overall was not great with very limited vegetarian options, smallish portions, poor quality and not tasty.

This was quite simply AMAZING. The service, the friendliness, the cleanliness and the food. OUTSTANDING. True 5 star experience. Spa was also amazing. On day 1 our aircon didn't work. Without questions we were put in another room, without any effort or hassle whatsoever. Just how it should be.

Its overall a nice place. They can improve their service by not letting their guests wait so long to attend to them, especially at meal times. They need more training especially to vegan dietary requirements, they have no idea what the meaning of being vegan is.

The reception staff was great and accommodating, but the restaurant staff was not welcoming and wouldn't serve us food. We eventually had to leave and went to another restaurant to eat. It was a shame because it's beautiful. The two stars are for the reception staff, the rest was very disappointing.

A very relaxing overnight stay to celebrate a birthday. Excellent food and service in a great setting. We enjoyed an indulgent massage at the Spa - highly recommend it. The ambience was a little lacking due to a near empty hotel and no diners. Covid has hit hard. Must just say that the ‘climb in’ shower over the bath was challenging and no safety handles. I’m over 76. Highly recommended but check for older folk friendly rooms.

Mount Grace Hotel & Spa (MGHS) is a great place for a getaway for a weekend or more days. It is about 1h-1h30m from JHB and offers calmness, primarily because of its location. Visitors are treated with great service and overall service during stay is also great and prompt. There are a couple of restaurants to choose from which allows for a different view and dining experience each day. Rooms are adequately sized but the fun is in exploring the surrounds of MGHS. Due to COVID protocols, the few amenities offered could not be utilized / experienced by guests. The pool was not cleaned (which we have experienced both times we have been here); this could currently be due to COVID protocols, but with the large tree over the pool, there is constantly leaves in the pool. If there is a way to have the pool in a clean condition all the time (maybe enclosing it in a glass structure), it could easily attract guests to use the pool without much thought. Kids Club was closed due to COVID protocol but is a welcome offer for parents with young children. There are attractions and service providers in a radius of 20min that can keep guests entertained. Overall, MGHS is an international-like hotel experience for SAs, but at a premium. It is worth experiencing it though.

Had a lovely time over the long weekend with my mom. The food was delious and the service was good. The spa treatment was amazing. The picnic packages are worthwhile. The only downside about our room is that we could literally hear EVERYTHING that was being said / happening in the next guest room which was awkward!!!

Mount Grace hotel is still the lofty jewel in the crown of the Magaliesburg mountain range.Although previously a 5 star it has been downgraded to a 4 star. The spa experience and facilities is still good as I have previously been to the hotel. The food is what would be rated for a 4 star but overall still a relaxing getaway experience amongst the tree top and the rich foliage.

What a lovely experience! Best spa I have ever been to and also they have the most loving staff members that treat you so well. If you go for a massage you may use there swimming pools than and wow you won’t even regret that one bit. Definitely a 10 out of a 10 ! Best spa ever!

Rooms are very cold in winter. The TV is small and old. First day the hot water in shower ran out. At breakfast took more than 45 minutes for a cup of tea. Poor selection of breakfast, especially cereals etc For the price we paid definitely won't visit again . 1 would think this would be close to a 5 star resort , I will give it a 3...

We have been visiting Mount Grace for a while. It’s our family go to get away. This weekend we decided to invite friends along to experience what we usually do but it turned out to be a total disaster. The staff is always friendly and Thabiso stole the show whilst doing our reservations. Check in was delayed with no real explanations apart from us assuming that the place was at full occupancy. The rooms was terrible, our fridge was not working and the carpets in the unit had a foul smell. The shower was flooding. Breakfast spread was great as always but everything was slow! The coffee came out cold, you request for something, you have to ask a few people before you finally get it and both mornings was just not a great experience, definitely not the amount Grace we generally visit. Please do not become another resort where we leave unhappy! It’s really not Ohk.., it’s disappointing. Where will we as a family go if you guys are now dropping your standards?? Really not impressed

Feeling somewhat underwhelmed by Mount Grace 😒 fridge in my room not working, they did replace it. Lamp shade broken and room looking a little tired. Although bed comfy and linen fresh and crisp. Below average caesar salad for lunch 😕 And sat in stuffy old fashioned dining room for dinner where the windows are broken so don't open. Had a very average meal... It was the most beautiful evening 😕 However, the service is impeccable. All staff friendly and helpful 👌🏼 and I'm looking forward to my massage.... But seriously not worth the price I paid for my well earned getaway. Surroundings beautiful and peaceful though

From the start the experience was stunning, check in process was seamless, staff were super helpful and friendly. We were celebrating our anniversary and the little extras in the room just made it all the more special. Stayed in a suite with private pool, the room was stunning, the grounds are picturesque and well kept. We shall definitely be back!

Beautiful venue! The rooms need some attention eg. Broken blinds. The bar fridges had nothing in them. For the price paid there should have been a fully stocked bar available as a complimentary option for the guests. We have stayed in lodges/venues for less and the fully stocked bar fridge was available at no extra cost!

Had a lovely weekend getaway at Mount Grace. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Our room was so spacious and had its own heated pool (Executive Room). The spa was also a great experience, the staff is very professional.I will definitely be visiting again. Tip: Skip the buffet for dinner, order room service and eat by your private pool if you can. Also make sure to bring mosquito repellent or request from reception.

Close proximity to the city of Johannesburg. This makes it one of the perfect getaways on the weekend from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Roads can be better though but that's another issue. Lovely rooms. Good food. Friendly staff and a nice shuttle service through electric cars.

My family and I stayed at the Mount Grace 25 to 28 May and it was wonderful. The estate is beautiful. My parents room was large, luxurious and comfortable and they absolutely loved their it. My son loved the Kids Club while it was open. We went on the hike but went a bit off course. It would be great if the hiking route was better marked. We had a late lunch at one of the restaurants at the hotel however the food was average. The Margherita pizza had onion and tomato relish which was not great. Their breakfast selection was great and the staff was welcoming, helpful and very attentive.

I absolutise nature, so you can imagine how this place ticked a lot of boxes. Mimosas from 7am?😅 I’m in. The service was amazing, the scenery and ambience was right up my alley. I’d definitely go back. I withdrew one star because our key card was not working so it was inconvenient having to access the room; always needed to call someone to open

If I could give this place negative stars I would, you cannot drive to your room so you rely on the golf cart system, the phone lines went down, no network in the rooms and they don’t respond to emails timely, we were left stranded in the room for hours and hours , as our room was extremely far from reception and it was raining heavily, missed our appointments and then once we finally got out and reported it we were told off extremely rudely by the front office manager that it is not his problem that the lightning struck. Showing an extreme lack of concern or even willingness to assist in the situation. We then asked for a refund for the next night so that we can leave as we cannot be left stranded in the room without any help or access to food without any communication lines and we’re left waiting 4 hours in the reception just for them to fill a form and send an email , not even to finalize the refund . The male managers were uninterested and extremely rude, prioritizing only a particular guests. Please save your money don’t bother going to this place. Very disappointing for Southern sun Hotel, completely ruined Christmas for me and my family. We have still not received our refund from the hotel for the additional night which we did not stay in the hotel, even after they agreed to refund us.
