Beautiful venue from the outside. You immediately feel like you far away from the city buzz. The venue is tropical and full of greenery. There's a strong African theme throughout the venue, with beautiful sculptures and artworks. The indoor spaces were a letdown for me, dark conference rooms, bar areas, and restaurants. The place could do with better lighting and bright colors to being life into the rooms. The chairs in the conference, restaurant spaces need to be replaced. As well as the rugs and couches in the common areas.

I booked a Junior Suite for the Public Holiday Weekend and was not disappointed. What a place! Beautiful gardens, rooms hidden away just enough, and inside, wow! The Receptionists went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We even forgot one of our Cellphones and they phoned us and said the Cleaners found it! Thank you guys for a perfect stay!

Had Xmas lunch today. Lasagne smelt a bit ranchid, spinach looked dates,,no icecream for dessert....lots of kids at the function..,food taste not great , no complimentary tea..Waste if time and money for supposedly Xmas lunch My 1st choice was Glen burn lodge but were fully booked in October for this lunch....their food is definitely a few steps ahead, unfortunately for this venue...it will always be mediocre at best of time.m Rather

We made a booking using Hotels.com. Booking confirmation was received. Drove 50 kms with excited kids eager to visit the place and try out Carnivore. On check-in guess what, the hotel can't find the booking. OK granted there could have been a technical glitch (highly unlikely) but what I found extremely disappointing is that the hotel didn't even attempt to make up for the error or accommodate us for the next weekend. The staff were just disinterested. Poor form Misty Hills. Poor form.

Okay for groups and conferences. Large grounds with a pool, volleyball court, gym and more, but some idiosyncrasies such as no changing rooms or showers by the pool and gym. Food options are rather limited, especially for vegetarians, and the results are variable. The popular Carnivore restaurant has been closed a while due to Covid. Rooms are set around the grounds among trees so they can be dim. TV and an empty fridge, bath and shower. Security may be an issue. Mattress was sagging on one side.

The rooms are not very well maintained they have an old fashioned look the garden next to the rooms does not give them a beautiful view garden maintenance is a big concern

It's rustic, green, lush and very welcoming. Very Clean and immediately reactive to questions or requests. The food is excellent and Chef really knows how to cook prawns. A little dark outside for the uneven terrain at night and the wayfinding/signage could be better, but look where you're going and you'll be fine. Love it.

Beautiful place and grounds but complete disrespect for noise levels from other guests. At 2am we had people running past the room shouting and it felt like we were in a student commune with small room parties everywhere. I left feeling exhausted and definetly not rested. Hotel rooms in country hotels are not meant for parties.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa on 12th November. The award-winning, internationally renowned Carnivore restaurant had appauling service. After waiting over 30 min for drinks to be served, we had to get up and ask for assistance, before getting served. The tables were not cleared during our dinner and food was burnt. Your breakfast restaurant had waiters standing around and not servicing the guests. I had to go through atleast 7 plates to find a semi acceptable clean plate in order to dish my food up. Plates were covered in an oil glaze while old food was still stuck on 'so called' cleaned plates. In the early morning hours the cleaning staff was shouting and laughing outside our room 501 between 5:30-6:00am and so woke us up when the whole intend of our stay was to relax and sleep in. I perceive this type of the treatment as unacceptable, especially having in mind that we are frequent guest at your establishment and brought first time guests to share the experiences with us. I strongly encourage you make serious improvements should you wish to keep your customers returning.

Mixed emotions about this stay unfortunately. Rooms were lovely, but the noisy staff banging things and shouting loudly outside of our room at 7am the next morning was horrible. Sadly, this was followed by cleaning staff banging on our door before 8am to clean the room (very confused by this as checkout was 10am). A lovely stay disturbed by a very rude awakening the morning after 😔

Amazing place to enjoy African heritage with modern day facilities. The room and local environment offers a feeling of South African village. Awesome food quality with variety of dishes. Carnivour restaurant is famous for exotic meat dishes. This place is famous for arranging large scale conference. Good experience overall.

Beautiful place, clean rooms, friendly staff. We were there for an overnight conference. Conference room is very far from the restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Rooms are also very far from reception with no one to assist with luggage during the steep uphill walks to the rooms. Lack of signs made us get lost and walk around in circles. The Carnivore restaurant was an interesting experience but I was disappointed since all the meat was overdone and tasteless. The way the meat is served is also not ideal for such a big group. Limited space at the tables with impatient waiters constantly disturbing conversations by leaning into your personal space and placing a huge skewer in your plate for you decide if you want that particular meat or not. If you hesitate too long they just leave before you can decide. Rather let guests go to a central serving station where they can be dished with their choices of meat and then go back to the table to enjoy an uninterrupted meal. Breakfast and lunch served at Boma was of excellent quality though. Overall a beautiful venue but did not find it easily since there's no name boards at the main road. Even Google could not take us there🤭

Friendly staff. Spa with heated up beds. Beautiful luxury apartments. Food was exquisite. What a amazing surprise you get from entering the venue till exiting.

Nice place but a bit rundown. Food was not good for me and it was cold, dessert was a disaster.

Very disappointing, our duvet covers velcro did not stick so the inner was hanging out. The pottery basin was chipped, the wood stand was swollen due to water damage and there was no shower caddy to put your vanities on, so all was on the floor. No map was given to find the rooms. Parking was far from rooms so you have to carry luggage far. Will not stay there again!!

We went there for Mother's Day Lunch on the Buffet side rather than the carvery. The 3 course meal was delicious, and the log fire was wonderful against the cold weather. Lovely

It is quite a beautiful place. Involuntary beneficial exercises were the order of the day. It was strategically built to make a person's stay very interesting and memorable. The rooms are super clean which for me is a bonus. Big and busy place like that one usually fail when it comes to cleanliness. Gauteng and services never disappoints, the competition is high and they understand it. All those kids that were helping us are awesome 👌

I made a booking for a spa treatment (Girl Day Out) on the 14th of May for the 16th of May for my mom and my sister as a surprise gift and specifically requested that it should be made a bit special as it was a gift for my mom for mother’s day and I was promised that all will be well. They very excitedly went for the treatment today and had THE WORST SPA EXPERIENCE ever!!! For starters, there was load shedding which is completely understandable but the fact that they had to be treated in an ICE-COLD room and when they had asked the therapists, they were told that the ‘manager’ would only come later on. Eventually when the VERY ARROGANT manager arrived and the issue was explained, my family was told ‘well there is nothing we can do as load shedding is a nationwide issue and all our generators packed up this morning. All I can do is say sorry’. She kept telling my family ‘Well I said sorry’. I find this extremely unprofessional! I paid the full amount after being promised that the service would be good and then this is what my family had to deal with. Nevertheless, the therapists were very friendly and tried their best to be accommodating so I cannot blame them for managements carelessness. The machines used were also not charged so my family waited more than being treated. After the session, the ‘manager’ told my family that she said sorry, but they can come another day free of charge for a ‘quick’ massage. She kept emphasizing ‘free massage’. My family was also told that she would tell them when they can come, and they shouldn’t just pitch when they feel like. I find this as discrimination as if we are begging for a free service. Instead, I made payment days prior to the session. To top it all off, my family asked for the left-over food to be packed as they were shivering of the cold and just wanted to get home so that could have a hot shower, they were laughed at and given the food as if they were asking for charity. This is UNACCEPTABLE. For a 4-star hotel and spa to provide such a pathetic treatment, it is a complete disgrace on our countries tourism industry. Is this the service that Recreation Africa Leisure Industry provides? I received a call from the General manager saying whatever my posts say are nothing but lies which is unacceptable and he is not willing to do anything to compensate for the pathetic experience. DO NOT USE RECREATION AFRICA LEISURE INDUSTRIES!!!!!!!!

A massive conference centre situated close to Lanseria airport. Beautiful gardens. The place gives an African jungle vibe. Facilities look tired in places. I was there for a conference and found their food and service average. Bar service especially was very slow. There is masses ofnparking but the lay out of the resort is very confusing, kept on getting lost.

Went for Spa. Had a hot stone massage, the ladies definitely know what they are doing. The pregnant lady at the reception was super nice. The place is rustic and vintage styled.

Absolutely the most serene destination and accommodation I've experienced in a long time...back to the arms of nature. You really feel one with nature when you stay at Misty Hills. The staff....ALL OF THEM that were there...are all super kind and super awesome. Made our stay there such a wonderful one and I appreciate you ❤️

The place is so peaceful and quiet. The staff is hands-on and very friendly. As for the two venues for meals, they are exquisite. The accommodation is well established including the bedrooms. Well secured parking and environment is challenging as it's set up like a maze. Bravo

A great getaway just a short distance from home is always appreciated. None of the travel fatigue but all of the vacation relaxation. Service was great, rooms were good, facilities covered a range of activities and age groups. The swimming pool area is lots of fun. The breakfast spread is wide. Lunch and dinner options were maybe a bit limited but what we got was good. They did have some items that were never available.

It was not a good experience at all. We had to wait for more than 2 hours to get a table. We initially booked for overnight stay and Christmas lunch at Misty hill . It was a nightmare to sort out our booking . We ended up being relegated to Carnivore we where not impressed with what we got. Such a big establishment to make such a mess. This is a shame and a disgrace

Great venue. Very well laid out. Service was poor at the eating places though. Kept losing the order or getting it wrong. Food was first class when it done come. Very clean and well maintained. Good place as a quick work weekend.

What an experience! Pity all the rooms were booked out but the food was great and not your normal cuisine. Crocodile, Zebra, Gemsbok, Kudu, Impala ...The place is massive, just wish there was time for a game drive. Stunning!

Terrible and pathetic service from a women named Vanessa. She was blatantly rude and abrupt when we advise her about the poor service we received at breakfast .Her exact words were 'Its out of my hands and I cannot do anything about it. Well she has lost a customer. We will advise friends and family intending to visit as well. We might as well take our business elsewhere where we get good customer

Bad, bad communication and service. Conference instructions were clear. Worksheets done. Still not followed. Paid for more rooms than eventually occupied. Replaced with other guests. Then the hotel wanted them to leave. Conference room not prepped according to instructions. Sound systems were not done for evening function with entertainment. The list goes on and on. Promising one thing, doing another.

The place has beautiful scenery, the staff are friendly and the welcome snacks were amazing! However lunch and dessert were a bit of a let down - the yellow rice was bland and buttery, the carrots were raw and the cheese cake was not cheese cake. However apart from that our time at the facility was well spent.

Misty hills is a refreshing escape from the city. We used their conference facilities, ate at Carnivore and stayed over. They have very friendly staff who tend to all your needs. The lunch we had during the conference was amazing. The walk from the conference room until the hotel reception was confusing. There are a couple of boards missing which made our walk around long but scenic. The rooms were extremely clean with all basic amenities.

The place was cool. The coffee shop had terrible service. We had to wait an hour to be shown our table. Our food took another hour to be given to us. Our waitress decided to go deliver room service while we waited for our meal. Our meal came with one plate short. It took a further 30 mins to make the chicken salad. The terrible service at the coffee shop spoiled our evening

  • 1/5 Jean Blessing N. 2 years ago on Google
The service was bad bad. One person by reception was decent his name was Thabang I think. Otherwise everything was so dissatisfying. Bed was nice but there was weeks of dust under the bed. The restaurant staff were soooo rude and inefficient. We sat for over 30minutes waiting for a menu another 30 probably before she took our order no apology whatsoever. Food was not great at all at the restaurant. The pool is not working. If you are looking for amazing food or great service do not come here. It's a pity because it's a beautiful place. I will say though that the saving grace here was the breakfast buffet. That was the only thing that was good and was run well. Overall it was not the best I wouldn't recommend it at all . If you can stomach bad food and bad service for a nice surrounding then go fo it.

We stayed in the Executive Suite which was amazing. Great size room, outside shower, sunken bath with greenery views. Overall the hotel staff were great and efforts were made, however they can do more to pay attention to detail. We ordered a picnic basket which was delivered to the spa for us and they neglected to add cutlery, serviettes, refresher towels. Same happened when we ordered room service and the creme brulee arrived without a spoon. They dont have in room phones, and your communication to reception is done via a whatsapp line. The whatsapp line can be manned better with more timely responses. Overall, it was a great weekend away Spa in the Country was divine, our therapists were top notch, the service and hospitality was so great!!

Booked 2 nights, only stayed for 1. Website boasts 3 restaurants, only one was open, no advance warning given. The restaurant that is open has very limited menu, especially for vegetarian, vegan or lactose intolerant. There's only full cream milk available for every meal. No coffee or tea facilities by the pool, they couldn't even give us a teaspoon so my kid could eat a yogurt we brought for him. They knew we were bringing young kids and stuck us on the opposite end of the hotel from the pool and restaurant, did 12000 steps by 2pm. No fore thought. Half the plugs in our rooms didn't work, we had 3 rooms it was a trend. But the worst part was the general sense of malaise and ambivalence from the staff towards us. My wife actually had to to order uber eats to get something to eat for lunch on day 2 as she had exhausted their menu, this is at a 4 star resort with 3 restaurants supposedly?!!

Excellent experience. Best service by far. The people is so so friendly. Food is amazing and the spa treatments out of this world with their in door swimming pool and much more to offer.

The room I was allocated to, safe was small my tools of trade couldn't fit. It can only fit.... Then it rained and the room was leaking. Food- They need to revisit the menu and change or take those who are responsible for courses. They need to work on customer care especially receptionist and restaurant staff.Security and maintenance staff are much better than them in terms of friendliness. The place has potential and could be better if they fix those things

I’m actually at Misty Hills right now and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. When we booked we asked via our booking if anything special could be done as it’s our anniversary. No reply. Check in and unbeknown to us at the time as we hadn’t been here. You need a map as it’s a large property. Went and requested one. Check in to our room and air conditioning isnt working. No problem, someone came it was fixed and broke again a few hours later. Have requested maintenance 3 times as our tv only has SABC 1 and 2. No one has come yet. The hospitality side really needs work. Got up 6 times at breakfast to get salt/butter/serviettes/find out where our food is ect. Out of 6 orders we have placed in our less than 24 hours no one seems to be able to get orders right. Waiter tapped my card, it printed blank and then tried to do another payment on my card. I then pointed out her paper in the machine was the wrong way round and requested a reprint. It went through the first time but she tried to charge me again after saying “I don’t know what’s wrong”. Misty hills has so much potential as it’s a beautiful property but sadly we will never come back.

Friendly staff, beautiful room and gardens. Food was also really good. What I did find strange and somewhat inconvenient was their cutlery shortage, especially desert spoons! We had to request spoons for desert and breakfast as there was none available, weird for such a large hotel. Other than the apparent spoon shortage 🤣 I really enjoyed my stay.

The place is very nice I enjoyed every moment. Visited for work purposes but enjoyed like it was a vacation. Rooms are clean. Minimum interaction with staff but those I met were very friendly. A few kilometers from Silver Star Casino for entertainment. The food was great 👍 👌 😋.

Beautuful and peaceful. Not too far out from Johannesburg but it'll make you feel like you're in a distant land so it's perfect if you want a break nearby. The food is sooo good and the service as well. Definitely a fave!!!

On arrival, parking and reception is quite a walk between the two stations. Front desk gentleman are very professional and friendly. I was well informed about my stay, wifi to dinner settings. As in April it got chilli, our room was pre warmed up with extra blankets. I was very impressed with the staff there. I met Brian there(HouseKeeping) he went out of his way to make sure I found my place around and also recommended the restaurant and meals, I was welcomed with warm hearts

  • 1/5 Lebo M. 2 years ago on Google
The service was poor. I had to ask a waiter to come clean our table since all tables were full and he didn't come i had to clean the table myself. The rooms are smelling like they havent been kept clezn for some time. The reception area is beautiful 👌 and the bathroom. The most hectic thing about the area is that is not easy to go to one place and the other. U always get lost and the are not a lot of ppl visible around in order to assist with direction. Only when we arrived they were few ppl assistance us with the directions after that we just got lost until we left. At night never go out its dark and scary

Nice place with great service and rooms are really nice. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a good break away. The food served were also great. The secluded feeling was also worth noting!

Misty Hills is a very scenic place to be that makes you feel like you're much further out from JHB than you actually are. The staff are friendly and food was good but I do feel like the restaurant and rooms could do with a slight facelift just to be more bit modern. Otherwise no complaints - good experience all in all.
