The hotel desperately needs update. The wardrobe door wood and paint are chipping away. The bathroom has a narrow bath cum shower that is perilous especially for the older guests. The food menu is very limited. All said however, the staff was courteous and welcoming.

One of My Worst Hotel experiences ever! On arrival, the room given to us, was absolutely appalling! The condition of the bathroom sink and toilet was shocking! No one should be subjected to use such pathetic ablution facilities, especially a paying customer! I had to request a room change, and the new room was a little better. Breakfast was disastrous! They did not cater for Hindus - they only had beef and pork available - no mutton / lamb/ chicken. They did not cater for vegetarians either, all I had for breakfast was roasted potatoes and baked beans, with toast. Majority of the staff however, are quite friendly, and accomodating. My 2 night stay was very unfavourable. Definitely not a 4 Star hotel experience. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A very different experience. Getting to the hotel parking during peak time took about 30 minutes. Check in was 'ok' there was no smoking rooms available, so that was an absolute schlep. Having to trek down to the pool area for a smoke. Unsettles me greatly! πŸ˜’Anyhoo... Room was OK, spacious, etc. Shower was laughable 🀣. The section of the hotel that was not upgraded was reminiscent of Orkney Snork nie 😝. Well, we make the best of what we get.

My friend booked us in at the southern sun at the sun time square arena to attend the Brian Adams show..but because it was fully booked the booking was just directed to southern sun Sunnyside which was on the other side of Pretoria..so 2 women alone has to navigate their way around an area they not familiar with at 23h30 .. how about explaining its fully booked and can we place you elsewhere? .. i found the whole experience with your company to be very unprofessional .. needless to say what should've been an enjoyable evening turned out to very stressful .. definitely wont use it again

Good service. Room OK. Discount we were offered was higher than the web rate which was a shock. Long queue for cooked breakfast so I paid for it but didn't have time to have it. Harambee staff very good.

I loved the attention to detail of the housekeeping staff they were attentive to my needs. Breakfast was superb. I would just say the carpets need a deep clean from time to time, not just hoover. Henk the shuttle driver was a star, driving me around Pretoria, thank you Henk! The room service menu can be improved upon, and when you say 100 percent Beef patty on your menu you should mean it, I am from Namibia, I know Beef! The streets right outside the hotel aren't safe, but then again, this is a problem generally, so be street smartl! The hotel must have been here from the Apartheid days, that's my assumption, but it's still well managed, a beautiful hotel. Thank you for your hospitality.

Is a nice hotel but for the price I would expect more from lights not working in the room to bath Towles that's stained and a bath and shower combo that I really don't like*this is like you standing in the bath tub with a shower head above you*... Than to make matters worst I forgot my 2 point plug but I was almost sure they will have one in the room like built in or something... nope there was one that did not at all work... the room was clean and neat in there defense. πŸ‘Œ

I enjoyed the quality service and hospitality offered, friendly staff, the place and conference venue are so tidy but I did not like the disturbance (sounds) coming from next conference rooms, installation of soundproof between the walls is recommended. There are only few charging ports in the venues which is a turn off. But nevertheless, it’s a nice place and looking forward to visit once more.

An experience of a lifetime. Definitely would visit back for a vacation. The staff is warm & so welcoming. The environment is chilled, quiet & classy. A destination for business meetings or getaway, you can just kick back and relax. I give a 10 across the board...

Pretoria Southern Sun Hotel Arcadia, you've provided the worst service to our guests. Catering is supposed to be for 200 people yet they have given refreshments for arround 50 people. This is the worst service from a southern sun hotel. Avoid this hotel if you want to properly service your conference guests.

My room number was 138. When I got there, MY ROOM WAS SO DUSTY!!.I couldn't believe it πŸ˜¦πŸ™†πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚. The people that work there are EXCEPTIONAL πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ Breakfast and Dinner was OUTSTANDING. There were so many different options, every morning and every night. I do feel like this Southern is going under because it just looks sad πŸ˜‚ the TV has few channels. The noise from the street πŸ™†πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚anyways, it was a company sponsored trip so...πŸ’πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

The people are wonderful. Head Chef Blue is worth travelling to the hotel for his food. The rooms need serious updating and better cleaning standards. The bedding is up to standard. The gym is okay. Location is great it travelling to nearby government departments.

Worst service and food I have ever had. Had lunch with my family and we were extremely dissatisfied. Ribs and wings that cost R190 with a 3 bone segment of ribs and 3 wings with small feather fragments, frozen fries that were over fried and limp vegetables. The vegetable soup was slimy and falsely advertised with a freshly baked roll but came with very oily croutons. Kept asking for glasses to drink water. Eventually never came. Honestly cannot call this an A la Carte menu.

Beautiful place - calm and peaceful. Clean and tidy. Great service - prompt and professional assistance. Spacious conference rooms. I'll be back.

This is the worst Southern Sun hotel I've ever been to, bad rooms with no adapter pots or USB ports, no dinning variety when it comes to food choices, and don't even get me started on their horandous bathrooms. All this negatives for a hefty amount of 1.5k plus (inclusive of the terrible dinner and breakfast).

  • 3/5 NthabiLu 10 months ago on Google
Hotel rather outdated, carpets had a musty smell, shower was not working. Best thing about the hotel is their friendly staff. Breakfast was decent as well.

Conference area can get quite busy and there are only two toilets and a paraplegic one in the vicinity near the reception area for all to use... The 2 are rather pokey the door practically opens onto the toilet seat area. There is no room to manipulate oneself. In trying to close the door you practically wiping the rim of the seat with your clothing. Used it once only and swore near again... Since there are only these 2 one would imagine that they assign cleaners to keep an eye on these toilets to clean at regular intervals... Need I say more...

Rooms have torn curtains and dirty carpet. Some lights don't work. The food was bad bad bad. The elevators could do with some vanish. Room keys keep malfunctioning the whole elevator key access is a nightmare

  • 4/5 morena a. 9 months ago on Google
Yeses, some rooms are very cold owing to malfunctioning aircons maar both Sis Yvonne (Technician) and Faith (Receptionist) are perfect at hospitality, they're can be relied on to save the day.

  • 2/5 Andries L. 10 months ago on Google
The room is OK, though one light did not work, the shower took forever to get hot, wasting a lot of water. The location is noisy and I did not feel safe outside. The bar prices are insanely high, charging R38 for a can of coke light, it feels like they extorting guests who are not able to go out after dark.

  • 3/5 SFISO SUMMERS N. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is great. The receptionist were friendly & helpful. But the room I was using ROOM 322, was seriously hot. Their room air-conditioned took forever to make the room cool. Then Booom TAXI bell from 19H00 to 01H00 in the morning πŸŒ„. I didn't 😴 sleep. Well, my suggestion to the hotel, maybe if they will install window sound pruff, to minimize the taxi bell sound. Then install better air-conditioned, not those outdated one. AMEN.

Extreamly noisy on the street side. Ablution facilities were faulty. Food was fair, but nothing about the venue says 4 stars apart from the libby and garden. On a plus side, the staff were friendly and sorted out a different room, which was a lot more quiet.

Other thing when we wanted to swim we were told that the pool is still under maintenance which we understood. Funny part white people were allowed to swim in that pool full of chemicals as we were told. I don't wanna raise the race card but I feel that treatment is not the same. Lady from the Oasis restaurant didn't want us to take pictures. I know the protocol of hotels I would never show anyone's face on my Camera but white people were not told about this Hai I will NEVER!!!!!!!! come back here and honestly I would never recommend it to anyone else.

Very shabby overall but the worst... weak coffee for breakfast (really.. How hard could it be?) , poor service in the buffet. Often there was no one at the carvery or egg station, coffee pots empty, no cups, no plates.. Not worthy of 3 stars. Rooms are tired, with toilets not flushing properly, shower rails loose.. The bar is hopeless. A pathetic selection of beer and wine, no snacks, zero atmosphere and the till didn't work properly.. Management were not very interested in the issues. I won't go there again. Sheraton up the road is a much better option.

During our conference, we requested to scan our attendance register 3 pages, we paid R3 per page after paying them 40K, I have been to different places but printing one or two pages they allow you to its courtesy. I was shocked and couldn't believe it, The staff is well trained and know customer service.

Currently (April 2022) there's a lot of construction in the areas and it is LOUD. The hotel must be very old and in dire need of refurbishment as everything is rather old in design and function. The food/kitchen was a major let down. Quality of the food serves and the composition of the menus need major work.

I almost froze to death ,the water was lukewarm and it was cold ,no blanket in the room.i had to ask for blanket and for them to check their geyser.i got the blanket but the water issue was not resolved. The air-conditioner makes noise once you switch it on .Hayike the food was horrible. Disappointed Tsogo sun member πŸ˜‘. This hotel needs some serious renovations

The staff are nice. But the building is old and feels like it's not maintained properly. I stay here for work trips, which is fine. However, I would never use my own money to stay here.

  • 4/5 Omar K. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms could use some updating (especially the floors). The breakfast is decent with options. Check in was a bit slow , but we came earlier than the publicized time for check in The area around the hotel isn’t much, but serves its purpose for a few nights stay.

Kgomotso at reception has the best service everπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. He treats guests with respect and tend to their needs. Very dissapointed with the buffet dinner on 26th Nov, including the bad service from the Oasis restaurant team; they lack communications skills and service. Serious training is needed for that team please.

If my employer books this hotel again im definately crashing with a frend around PTA. I won't even comment on the state of the room, floors and food. But the iron that take 1 hour to arrive when u request. Yhooo

It is quite a busy hotel; normally frequented by business travelers/conference goers. The buffet dinner and breakfast are simple (can be described as homely), but could be improved to be friendlier to people with certain dietary needs.

Ordered room service food arrived 2hrs later after 5 phone calls . Breakfast they used cheapline beef sausages that taste bad. Supper buffet the food was terrible the menu is bad it needs to be improved

It’s the first time in my life where I stay over at a hotel where I have to boil kettles of water just to take a warm bath. Also, the supper mini buffet was below average and I opted for a burger instead, the burger arrived cold and poorly put together. Needless to say, I should of just ordered in instead of spending my hard earned money on sub standard food.

I woke up and left for a meeting which was going to take the whole day, when getting back to the hotel room at 17:00 my room was not cleaned. I called housekeeping with no answer, I proceeded to the reception with no answer still. As tired as I was I had to walk to the reception where I was told that there’s no specific time to clean hotel rooms… worst experience ever

The hotel seems nice. The buffet is same for every day I stayed, so you could tired of it. They have a small bar at the lobby, but not suitable to have a good time for me. The stuff is very nice and welcoming not the managers though.
