This is definitely not a 5-star hotel. The room needed maintenance as a piece of the wall was missing in one corner. Found two cockroaches and one spider. Light on the balcony was not working and when reported to the gentleman in the reception, nothing was done and no explanation was given. Breakfast was pathetic. First day I was told they ran out of bread and was offered a cheese platter instead of continental breakfast. Second day of I went to restaurant, but was even more disappointing. Since we paid 500R pp per day for breakfast, I expected some sort of buffet, like in most hotels. Only in my dreams. Waitress dared to serve me 3 jams without bread. When I asked for bread, I was looked like I made an unreasonable request. All the above were reported to the reception, who gave us a discount of 150R pp and were promised a call by the management. Needless to say, they could not care less. If I could give a zero, I would. I will definitely not step into their premises, not even for a coffee. Even that is challenging. Personally I see them out of business soon. It is very obvious they struggle.

Wow! It’s difficult to find the words to convey how wonderful this hotel really is! The rooms are stunning! On our first visit here (6 yrs ago) we stayed in the honeymoon suite which was utterly unbelievably gorgeous. This trip we chose the presidential suite and enjoyed luxury beyond comparison! As lovely as the property is, the real treat here is the staff! Every member of the team is standing ready to accommodate any request. The chef is a true culinary artist. Every meal here was divine! The wine list is extensive and the staff is ready to recommend perfect pairings for any menu choice. We can’t wait to return to this wonderful resort!

The hotel is old fashion but nice nevertheless. The service was good but unfortunately the restaurant was expensive and the food really not great at all. My main issue was the cleanliness of the carpet in the room. My husband walked bare feet for a short time and his feet were black. Carpets should be regularly professionally steamed cleaned in this kind of environment.

Great location, quiet area and a lovely property with a classic yet modern look. The staff is friendly and offer incredible service. Worth all the stars and every penny you spend here. Fine dining is guaranteed, great flavors and exceptional presentation. Not for the frugal type.

We booked the Boardroom at Castello for a 2-day team retreat and it was one of the most phenomenal experiences we've ever had as a team! The entire Castello team was phenomenal - professional, kind, and extremely flexible and accomodating. They made sure we had everything we needed and truly went above and beyond - getting us flip charts, setting up the AV for us, all the while providing OUTSTANDING food (accomodating many dietary restrictions). Not to mention, the room itself was quiet, with an indoor/outdoor experience, perfect for a retreat setting or important work meeting. We also played games on the lawn during breaks and sat on the patio chairs in the shade for parts of the agenda. It was overall outstanding. We could not recommend it more! (We almost didn't want to tell anyone about this gorgeous gem in Pretoria given how magnificent it is, but feel the world needs to know about this place!) Thank you, Castello team! We will be back!

Had a special dinner on the panaroma deck for my mother's 60th birthday. Own private waiter, bubbly, 360 degrees views of Pretoria surrounds and a three course meal. Was superb!

Fantastical Hotel, quite surreal with its design in South africa! Very luxurious and quite stunning. The staff went seriously above and beyond, the chef even took us to the airport in the morning as our airport shuttle hadn't arrived which really saved day.

A really beautiful hotel with excellent food and stunning views from the rooftop. The Presidential Suite is massive, and the upgrade we paid was very reasonable.
