My husband and I went for a couple massage the experience was nice , but the facility (the whole lodge) looked a bit neglected/not well maintained. It definitely look more beautiful in pictures than in reality, I was a bit disappointed. Also the food they offered us for our picnic was awful we barely ate it , we wished we had ordered something else I definitely do not recommend it. For the price they charge for it they could have at least tried to do something more tasty. I do not think we will be going back there

The photo's on the website and booking system are not a true reflection of what the place is. In the first place, the Lodge is not clean and the reception area has been neglected and there is no one at reception when entering. The rooms are not properly cleaned out and the maintenance overall has been neglected. Showers that are leaking, doors not opening properly, fireplaces that have not been cleaned, etc. Spa facilities are not operating at all and did not feel welcome. Maintenance in and around the lodge has been neglected. Very disappointed with the food. Overall I would not recommend Valley Lodge and Spa to anyone.

In all honesty, this is 1 conference venue that I'll never, ever book again. I filled out their information document which included the order of execution of the event and returned it AND sent the place my working document (order of execution) as well. It was such a waste of time that NOTHING was done, I specifically requested that the place be ready at 07h00 for me to come and set up. When I arrived the place was absolutely dirty from the preceding event a few days before (which I know as there was stale food in the room). I had to ask constantly, where are the pens, notebooks, water, mints, tea/coffee etc... My guests were supposed to show up at 10:00, but I knew some of them would show up early. To my great displeasure, the tea/coffee station was not fully prepared until 10:10 a.m., at the start of the conference. I spoke to our coordinator to please get this right for the rest of the day. Low and behold, 30 minutes prior to our tea break, I went to check on our set-up and absolutely nothing was done. I had to find the relevant people to get this sorted. While we were on our break, there was no one to refresh and clean the conference room. AGAIN I had to find staff this took a long time that we just did it ourselves. AGAIN, I spoke to the coordinator and GAVE her a copy of our working document for that evening and the next day. Which we spoke through. Because I learnt from the conference, I knew I needed to be at the dinner venue to ensure all was being done as requested. The staff working the event had NO IDEA what I needed done, so ended up doing it myself. Before the coordinator left the evening, I explained my requirements for the next morning and she agreed and said it will be done. Oh my goodness, arrived at the conference venue the next morning and it was in the same condition as we left it the previous day. I was completely flabbergasted by the lack of service especially when you are paying a premium rate for it. I spoke to the General Manager about my issues, and he offered me a free weekend and wine? SERIOUSLY? Even after speaking to him, I had to again run around to get the tea break sorted. I would never book another group there again! They are expensive and provide the worst service.

The worst experience ever at a spa: - The change room toilets had so much rust and were not clean. - The seating in the change room was visibly dirty, it seems the upholstery hasn't been cleaned in years - There was only 1 hair dryer - Some of the jets in the jacuzzi weren't working. - The pool had a lot of dirt in it, especially the floor of the deep end and the ledge seat along the side of the pool - The steam room wasn't working - During the 60 minute massage the power went on and off multiple times which was the opposite of relaxing as the lightung changes from dim to harsh bright overheard lighting and back again about 6 times - They got my food order wrong - The tissue box in the change room was empty My daughter and I were welcomed warmly by front desk and booked in for our treatments. I returned from the bathroom to find her being attacked by an old lady at the pedicure station. Apparently she's one of the owners, and had also come to get her nails done. She didn't have the professional courtesy or manners to wait until I arrived to address the matter with myself as the adult, but instead chose to drive my daughter to tears demanding to know her age and shouting at her that no under 18s were allowed. I stated that at no point were we told she's not allowed to have a Mani or that it was against the rules. Otherwise we would have left in the beginning. She then went on to say there's often naked men wandering around. I stated the fact that the place was completely empty except for us but if they had told us it's a nude facility, that I wouldn't want to be there myself either. I asked what her solution is since they already started her nails and that the place was empty despite it being Christmas week. She refused to let her finish her nails and asked us to leave. I told her it's her place so we'll respect the rules and leave but that it's been an extremely unpleasant experience. She didn't care. She carried on having her nails done. The manager was lovely and apologised to us profusely. Apparently other children have been allowed before, but they were white. So, very sadly, it's a race issue. We also had other therapists come after us to apologise for the traumatising experience and who also confirmed that there's institutional racism at this so called 4 star hotel and spa.

This place was extremely disappointing. We checked in as 5 adults and 3 small children so 3 rooms in total. The rooms were disappointing. The phones didn't work in the rooms and there was mold all over the showers. The bedding had brown stains all over them. The fans on the ceilings were covered with dust. Service was horrid. The man working at reception knocked on my door at 8:30pm and woke my sleeping children so that he could tell me they haven't accounted for our children on their records. The breakfast they served had rotten sauges , there was no apologies from the chef or waiters. Please don't believe the 4 start rating.

I booked the heavenly escape package and I was very disappointed. 1. The invoice was clear that my arrival time was 13:00. But when we arrived the kind receptionist explained that we were actually late, that they were expecting us at 11am! They couldn't get hold of me because they couldn't find my phone number anywhere. They were kind enough to give us all our treatments but we missed out on enjoying our room and the scenery during the day because we finished quite late at the spa. 2. We arrived only to be told that the heat pump is not working and that the jacuzzi and the pool are not heated. These are selling points that got us interested in coming to this spa and we were disappointed to hear that we can't enjoy these facilities. 3. The general feedback is that we were surprised to have to walk/drive up and down from our room to the restaurant. For the heavenly escape package with a luxury room, this was unexpected. I was expecting a seamless experience, and that's not what I got.

The place is beautiful and I loved the breakfast. The waiters and Alfred Ledwaba at the reception was exceptional. However the rooms were not clean enough and the walls too close you could hear voices and business next door. The prices for a night are a bit expensive and the menu for super is too limited

My sister and I booked a night to enjoy the Spa. Sadly it was not a pleasant experience. The Spa pool was under maintenance and the Aromatherapy treatments we booked below standard. As a therapist myself, Aromatherapy is supposed to be an olfactory experience, the essential oils the main component of the treatment. However, when asked to smell the oils being used there was not a hint of essential oil in any of them. I felt my massage was like a run away train and my sister had to ask her therapist to lessen her pressure a couple of times. The accommodation was also below par. We had to ask to be moved to another room when the one we were in had dirt falling from the thatch as a result of an animal nesting. That next room was pleasant enough except for a foul smell coming from the bathroom. On the plus side, the food was exceptional and the service at dinner friendly. The animals roaming free a delight. I do believe the standards need to be improved considering it is a 4 star hotel.

Definetly nowhere near a 4 star. Telephone not working in the room. Very much outdated cupboards, fridge not working properly, some parts coming out. Went for Dinner to cross over and there was no space to seat, lot of people standing around. Food is cold and the charge is R550 per person, not even juice. 25 minutes just to get 2 drinks. Looks like we at a wedding reception here. Definetly not a pleasent visit.

WHAT A HORRIBLE WAY TO ENTER THE NEW YEAR. Do yourself a favor and avoid this HORRIBLE place, we ignored the bad reviews trying to be positive but we found out ourselves. We are frequent South Africa travelers, we booked a 2 nights stay to cross over the new year and it was the worst place we have ever stayed in. The room was so smelly, and not maintained fridge and shower not working, furniture worn out. Upon check in we were told about dinner and count down to the new year at R550 per person and thought this will be a great way to crossover the year hence the high price. Little did we know we setting ourselves up to food poisoning from the disgusting food they served, got there and there was no seats everyone was complaining waiters new nothing about anything and the guy they called the manager was extremely useless. What a disastrous day, it was so bad we decided to forfeit the next night and left first thing in the morning to look for another hotel. This place is nothing no where a 4 star should be graded as a 1 star Motel. It looks nothing like what you see on pictures. Absolutely horrible!!!

Great accommodation, great conference facilities. A little maintenance on the outside (grass cutting etc) and it will be perfect. The service from the staff is super amazing.

Been trying to contact the lodge manager- who never seems to be in regarding a refund for double paying for my stay. Theyโ€™ve just been redirecting me and promising to return my calls. Had also sent multiple emails regarding the issue- NO response at all. Itโ€™s been over a month already- still no response. Worst customer service to date.

What a find. The room is spacious with comfortable chairs and seating on the veranda overlooking the river. The Swedish massage was fabulous! Having both an I door and outdoor pool makes this an ideal getaway from the city.

Spent 2 nights on a business trip with colleagues. The place is beautiful and amenities make the place memorable. Canoeing was my best experience even though I fell in the water๐Ÿ˜‚. The staff was super friendly and the food was great

4 Star Hotel with reviews better suited to 1 Star, shocked at this and very disappointed was planning a break away BUT after reading complaints on Facebook on the Legal group where advice is asked because you do not refund your customers and just ignore them I then came to check your Google reviews and here are a few identical complaints apart from dirty facilities, food that is frozen and still the audacity to keep customers money and ignore them, wow, i think i'll pass and book at an honest 4 Star hotel. Thanks reviewers for the reviews, we appreciate it, it kind of saves us from battling it out with potential high risk cons.

This was the best experienced stay Iโ€™ve had in 13 years. The food was great, the rooms were clean, kept cleaned and our view was impeccable. Our Spa day was exceptional and one for the books. The one thing I must admit about our stay that was extremely notable was the professionalism of all their staff. Thank you and see you soon.

Overall a pleasant experience. Spa facilities were great. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Loved the nice pool in the spa. Our only recommendation would be to renovate the bathrooms to a 4 star standard. Otherwise, a really great experience.

My husband and I stayed on 03-05 May 2019 and it was awesome. The property is beautiful and we had an amazing spa treatment. All in all I can recommend this place for a romentic getaway

For a 4 start establishment, you do not get your moneys worth. Rooms are not well maintained, staff is hardly present and the GM thinks that he is God. Food is not that great. The best thing is to see the Zebras roaming around. If you want to spend R3k a night, rather go elsewhere.

Terrible experience. It is not your money's worth. I felt like I was in an old age home. Nothing in the room works or is maintained. broken cupboards, loose tiles. The bath had no hot water, the shower had no cold water. I got burnt. I will just never return. what a scam

Even in the centre of a cold snap the experience was wonderful. Smiles all round from the staff and a wonderful eagerness to make sure our stay was the best it could be. The food was wonderful and a visit to the Spa made the body follow the peace the mind was falling into. Highly recommended this location of serenity.
