DO NOT STAY HERE!! If i could give 0 stars I would. Upon arriving quite late to the hotel with a booking I had made well in advance, I was told that the hotel had overbooked their rooms and I would be transferred to another hotel. I was also checking in at the same time as about 10 other individuals, who were also told the same thing. During this inconvenience, the hotel staff failed to inform any of the guests where they would be transferred, if we would be compensated, if it would be an equal transfer of the same room booking, etc. Merely told us to wait outside for a van to collect us. After waiting several minutes with no communication, I went back inside and asked for some water, to which I was told I could "buy" some in the hotel restaurant. After all of this, the LEAST they could do is offer everyone water. Two weeks later I am still waiting for a resolution, to which I was told I would be given points for the inconvenience yet no financial compensation.

A beautiful transit hotel just by the airport gives much more comfort to connecting travellers to other destination world wide.

Absolute shytehole. They broke my partners suitcase and refused to take any responsibility for it knowing she had to hurry to catch her flight. Pretend they are 3 stars when they are actually 2. Etc.

Stayed here for a forced overnight en route to Maseru. Check in was fast and the staff was very nice. Dinner was buffet vs menu style. We are from the buffet which had many options and was quite tasty. Drinks were also very good. The room is small with minimal amenities and/or complementary items but offers the basic necessities (warm, comfortable bed; hot shower). Internet is a bit slow as well but works. If you’re in the area for a short stay, I’d recommend the hotel. Perhaps consider a location with a larger room for a more extended stay.

Stayed here three times in the past month. Overnights in transit through OR Tambo. Chose it because it was close to the airport with free shuttle service and is a Marriott. Enjoyed the hotel each time. The style is aviation industrial so if you don't like polished concrete floors this is not for you. But it is immaculately clean and the styling is actually quite attractive. The rooms are beautifully laid out with wonderful showers and comfortable beds. Very very clean. The dining room restaurant has live music on several nights each week and it is a very energetic place with the bar as well. The food is good and they were gracious enough to allow us to have a later checkout at noon without charge. You can also pay them an extra $30 to extend your stay until 5:00 p.m. if you have a late flight overseas. That's nice to know. The only downside is that while I could literally SEE the hotel from the window of my departing jet, to get there from the airport is a 10-minute shuttle ride. And the shuttles don't come to the airport but once every half hour or so. Sometimes standing at the shuttle stop behind the intercontinental hotel can be a little unnerving especially for a single woman. It's dark and the walk over there across the street from the terminal exit about 100 yd has a long dark passageway. So while the hotel can't change its location, I'd suggest they lobby to get brighter lights installed along that walkway which my wife found a little scary when she did it alone. And obviously the walkway is populated by many people calling themselves porters who force themselves on you unless you are firm. And perhaps a posted schedule of the arrival times would help because one never knows if you just missed one or if there's one about to come. Other hotels have posted schedules so the proteas should do this. All in all I would go back, but I will certainly check the prices of the intercontinental which is dramatically more convenient. The city Lodge is also much much closer, but I understand their rooms are very spartan.

Was going to have a last get away drink before our friends left but felt intimated by what appears to be non essential check points by cops on way in to airport

Great place for a layover! Oscar who first was our bartender and served us dinner was wonderful! For other guest wondering the shuttle to get here was great and on time. To find the shuttle once exiting baggage claim follow signs for the bus terminal. Once you arrive you will see many buses there. There is a sign posted with the hotel shuttle times. It came every 30min.

My stay at the place a pleasant one, but everything felt rushed. I don't like waiting, but you also want waiters and staff to be patient when explaining something to ensure you understand.

This visit was not a "planned" stop over. I find All hotels overpriced. As I feel it was in this case. The room was fine, and the supper I had, very nice. Variety of choices and all well prepared. Nice pool area and constant shuttles to OR Tambo...my only complaint is the price. We are locals !!!! Not Dollar clients

Located very near to the airport, this hotel is perfect if you wish to have a short stay and move over to your next location. The staff was welcoming and helped us through the check-in, luggage transfer et . The hotel rooms were nice and clean. However, the lightings in the corridor and the room structure doesn't make it a luxury experience. It seems well suited for short stays or business travel stays. Full marks to the location as there is a free shuttle running from the airport as well. So, its super easy to reach. The gym is located in the basement and has all the necessary equipments to keep the fitness freaks happy. Location: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Rooms: 3/5 Food: 3.5/5 Overall: 3/5

Couple staying to meet other travelers prior to a safari. Unfortunately, my partner cracked a rib in an accident. The hotel was very, very accommodating in getting a ride to the hospital. When she got out, the hotel was also amazing in letting us decide how many more days to stay and very late check out. It is clean and modern and the staff is wonderful. The rooms are small, but efficient. The food selection was amazing and everything we had was delicious! Really enjoyed this hotel and would gladly recommend to anyone.

Can't stop singing praises to the chefs, the food was mouth watering. Top tier services, the staff is well mannered and welcoming..the only deal breaker was that they were under construction,I would've loved to have the full house experience.

O/5. Stuck at the airport since there is no Uber(R36.00) available and Marriot driver wants R400 for the 3km drive. Worst service I have ever received. Thank you for nothing.

Shower head was old and lacked water pressure. The people at front desk and bar and restaurant provided great service

The hotel is not easy to get to really via the shuttle, something I maybe misjudged. I live in SA and did not find the transfer logistics straightforward. Hotel is fine for a place to stay in transit and good price. Laid out like a Fire and Ice so modern. Breakfast sadly started after early morning shuttles but that's my problem. Service was great at checkin and the lounge on the evening.

Excellent hotel. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully decorated, and everything is squeaky clean. This hotel has a GREAT restaurant, don't miss the creamy pan-fried chicken livers! Staff is professional and friendly. Very close to the airport with secure parking right on site. Highly recommended.

Receptionists are welcoming, nice and polite. Our room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Go for it if you need some hours of sleep between your flights and a revitalizing shower. In the room as usual you find body lotion, shower cream, shampoo and hairdryer.

Stayed at the Protea hotel due to me missing my flight because of a huge delay from Maputo to Joburg. I had to stay another 24 hours at the airport to catch the next flight to Frankfurt. The airport was fine and so was the hotel. The room was quite spacious and had all necessary amenities. Some of the employees were extremely helpful and friendly. Pleased with the service even though the stay was very much unwanted.

What a beautiful setup. So much detail and creativity with the aviation theme throughout the hotel. Rooms are great, comfortable and quiet regardless of the busy OR Tambo airport across the road. One of the best daiquiris I’ve had by far and meals to die for. A definite recommendation to one and all!
