Tranquil setting, lunch under the tree canopy... awesome live music, #rocketeers , they performed Pink Floyd's "wish u were here" with a cello and electric guitar...imagine that💚🌻#pinkfloyd #classicrock #amazingatmosphere

Lovely place and generally relaxing and peaceful, except for music in the garden on Sunday that was too loud for the peace of resident guests who wanted to rest. Menu is a little limited.

Lovely Under the Trees setting, Sundays with Timeless Jazz Live Music. Had the creamy spicy chicken livers, and red wine beef pie. Both a must have again. The nougat dessert is to die for.

Honestly.... Amazing does not seem to encapsulate our stay at the Ou Pastorie. We arrived a bit late but were greeted warmly by the night watchman. I think the sound of the frog's harmonious singing in the background should have given us the ambiance. The accommodation was more than elegant, with I have to say a really comfortable and huge bed. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. Garden's are well maintained. The main house witch serves as the restaurant and kitchen gives one that historic feeling and was immaculate. I would really recommend this place again for a breakaway. I found the staff really friendly and helpful from service to general interaction.

Love the feeling of tables under huge, old trees, with super food and background music. Live music over weekends

Don’t bother going here unless you are attending a pre-arranged function. To clarify, this was our second or third attempt to have a meal here. On a Sunday ride we were looking for lunch, saw cars parked outside and went in to find a table but again turned away because there was a function that had taken every table. My review indicated clearly (I thought) that this venue is not suitable for casual drop ins. We have not experienced the quiet garden atmosphere so we’re not able to comment on that.

I recently held my 40th bday at die Ou Pastorie. It's such a hidden gem with live Jazz music in a Sunday, country vibe and exquisite food. The service was amazing and everyone felt that they went on a bit of a road trip to Magalies, and had a break of the busy city life. I envision small weddings, creative events and retreats at this place. We also slept over and had incredible dinner and breakfast in the country side. Thank you for such a lovely breakaway!!!

What an amazing venue. Service was personal and excellent. Fabulous team. Food was outstanding, and especially as they catered for a wedding. Not one ball dropped. Five star.

Whatever you doing now is exactly the opposite of what you used to be known for. Fresh interesting meals and specialities was what made you well known and respected You have now resorted to slop lasagne and cold beef parts, not even steak which reminds me more of a cheap wedding buffet or hostel food. At R400 a head i expect something original not a highschool hostel meal. You have lost your atmosphere too. No music, torn and dirty curtains, dusty walls and below mediocre food. No thanks I prefer to remember Die Ou Pastorie for what you were and not for what you have become. The most disappointing restaurant in Hartebeespoort now.

It's definitely not the old Ou Pastorie we used to visit. Booked for a valentine's buffet lunch. Place was dirty and run down. No ambience, no background music, and the food was terrible. For R400 a head for a valentine's lunch it was poor. We did not even eat all our food. Paid and left. We won't be back

A more beautiful and romantic setting for a Valentine's Sunday lunch is hard to imagine. The food was both delicious and the presentation beautiful with very helpful and attentive staff. Great place to visit in the Skeerpoort countryside in the valley of the Magalies mountain range. Absolutely delightful, tranquil, tree filled venue with a strong sense of history and beautiful artworks to boot and a very charming hostess.

A very intimate setting, excellent service and welcoming. We watched Ard Matthews at their venue. Food was warm and tasteful, and their wine just what the doctor ordered on a cold autumn day. With the outside sitting arrangement under the colorful trees it made for a special occasion. You also have the option of sitting under the tented deck should the rain threaten as it dis on our day.

Google was clearly not informed that this venue is now on appointment and for weddings or conferences only. Website still active no indication that tea garden is closed. Drove all the way to find a post it note with handwritten phone number at the closed and deserted entrance. ☹️

Lovely little find. Old Country House with a great garden setting for outdoor lunches. We had a late lunch and there was live music which was great. I ate the butter chicken curry, my friends had a beef pie and the chicken strips and chips - all of them were very tasty! Service was good and the waiter made some recommendations.

Just popped by for the Dan Patlansky show - the meal and venue was great. I can't say anything about the guest house side, but based on what I saw I recon there would be nothing to worry about.

Well preserved South African historical residence, complete with authentic furniture and other household items, like stepping back in time to the 1850s. Rooms are well kept, beds are comfortable. Great place to stop over.

This beautiful house is situated in Skeerpoort, just 45 minutes ride from Johannesburg. We came through Muldersdrift and Hekpoort, turned right at the t-junction towards Harties.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, but we chose to sit outside under the trees. It is so peaceful and quiet for breakfast, that we just sat there for an hour or two chatting. The breakfast was great and service was fast and friendly.
