Cafe is located in bird sanctuary. It's so quiet and calm place, we can be relaxed. They have a big parking and big capacity for seating. Venison burger and cape Malay curry were nice! There are a lot kinds of birds 🐦

Amazing venue with a beautiful view over the pond and the bird life that goes with it. Food is ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. We enjoyed some friendly and efficient service, but some of the larger groups seemed to get a little jittery over the wait for their food. The Blue Crane is well recommended for an outing!

We had a Sunday lunch here for a birthday. We booked a table beforehand and they gave us a lovely table overlooking the dam. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was great. The service was attentive and friendly.

Wonderful staff and experience. The restaurant has a delectable menu and the overall peaceful feeling is indescribable. Friendly staff ensures that you cup is always full and the birds make beautiful music. I will definitely be returning, taking my whole family with! The venue also caters for small/intimate events and they have some private balconies for quiet bird-viewing. They largely cater for families, boasting jungle gyms, large lawns and pets.

A HIDDEN GEM! This place has breathtaking scenery and excellent service. The food is delicious and affordable. I will definitely return. This has been my best discovery in Pretoria. The Blue Crane Restaurant has left a huge smile and full belly to this Cape townian. Keep up the good work.

I attended the outdoor "beer garden" area at the Blue Crane complete with wood chips covering the floor. We arrived as live music was being set up (covert charge of R50 included a drink) The setting is under magnificent trees and nestled round a fascinating herbiculture and aquaculture garden. That aspect is well worth a visit. Service as always was excellent. We had a bottle of Darling Sauvignon Blanc. The wine list is limited and not inexpensive. The restaurant overlooking the dam is still available for a quieter outing

The Blue Crane is nicely situated on the side of a small dam, ducks swimming around outside. We sat inside as it was cold. Was nice & cozy they had the log fires burning. The waiter was quick & efficient. From the time that we ordered to the time we received or breakfasts,(we all had the traditional breakfast) was very quick.Probably because the breakfast time was closing in ten minutes.Lunch then starts @ 12h00. Maybe we should have waited till lunch time.I felt as if there was something missing with the breakfast, maybe an extra slice of toast or some chips. The food tasted good. For the price ,something is missing. Will have to try again and have lunch to really assess there food.

The place The Blue Crane is looking very nice. Love the Decor of the place. We just arrived 10 min before breakfast closed. We received our food in about 3 to 5 min after we ordered. QuicklyπŸ₯Ί. But my traditional breakfast did not taste very nice. Toast bread looked so thin. Butter so hard etc. The plate looked so big compared to the food that was on it. Lunch was served at 12h00, i should perhaps waited for 12h00. The service of the Waiter was good. No manager came around and ask if everything is ok??, which in my opinion is the norm.

Absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, the view was great. They had surprisingly reasonable prices. The music was quite romantic and soothing, so it's a cute first date spot.

This was a great experience. I brought my wife here for her graduation lunch. She obtained her Honors degree in Financial Management. This is the same restaurant my late dad brought me for lunch to when I got my degree 20 years ago. We sat at the same table.

What should have been a memorable 71st birthday gathering of friends turned out very disappointing. The waiter was very professional and friendly and the atmosphere was perfect but the manager was rude, disrespectful and unaccommodating. We wanted to order breakfast as it was still supposed to be served by the time we ordered but we were told that we could no longer order even though there was still an hour to spare. All of the food was fabulous and very well presented but the baby chicken was undercooked. The birthday lady had a tiny cake that she wanted to cut it but was told that they would charge us R30 X 19 people = R540 for her own tiny cake. We were all going to order our own dessert, but after this revelation we decided that we will not cut the cake and we will not order dessert either. Your manager spoiled the mood and because of this we will not recommend any gatherings or functions at this restaurant.

We booked a venue with blue crane for 20 guests and chose a set menu. The food was excellent from starters to dessert. The service we received was amazing. We didn’t wait long for anything. Lastly the atmosphere was great. It’s a nice place to take children to as the ducks and animals keep them occupied. Would rate this place an 11/10 and would 100% visit them again!

Absolutely love the tranquility at this restaurant. The view and the sounds of the birds chirping are just awesome! Great place to relax/read a book or take photos. Highly recommend that you make a stop at this sanctuary/restaurant.

The food and service was great. A very relaxed environment and not expensive. There's a lake there as well so lots of sea side vibes. I had the catch of the day. Definitely recommend going here.

The food and venue were amazing. It was just some staffs who made us rush to finish and leave due to a wedding reception. I think they should have given us another seat in that case. And it was no one's fault, but flies kept diving into our wine. Could not drink it after observing it swimming in it..so we kinda wasted 1 total carafe of wine - there was no service or follow-up (just in case if you wonder). As a person from Asia, I thought it was pretty bad manner, but we did not complain then. But I have to say that everything else was perfect. I tried the steak and my colleague pork, very good and juicy. You can see birds while eating - which is pretty amazing.

I am truly disappointed! Excepted more, not a great experience. The food were very average. Veggies bland. Steak cooked well, but the ingredients did not compliment the dish. The source were not reduced completely. The wine and berry taste did not come to light. Service: average

Great hideaway restaurant on the lake of a bird reserve so very tranquil and peaceful. Food was good highly recommend the skaapsterkies and pap, haven't had better anywhere!!! The venison burger was also very nice but if I hadn't know it was a venison burger I wouldn't have been able to tell...not the slightest hint of that game flavourful. The service needed some work. When we were seat the waiter brought over 3 'adult' menus, despite one our party clearly being a child (9). Only after we had ordered did I hear another table being offered the kids menu. This was annoying as we had ordered off the adult menu knowing she wouldn't finish and paying double what was on the kids menu. We also seemed to be an after though to our waiter as asking for a glass of water or take away box took awhile and needed to be asking for again.

If you are looking for a restaurant with a view, with good food, great atmosphere...then this place is just for you. The deck / sitting area over looking the pond with ducks and blue cranes sitting and swimming in the background. For a moment you will not believe that you are in the middle of the city. This is a good place to spend with that someone special. The food is very good and the price is just right.

Relaxed atmosphere and nice view on the pond with many different types of birds and tortoises. The food was fine, a bit too oily as for my taste (flapjacks). Avo toast was ok, but I wouldn’t have taken it again.

Lovely morning out for breakfast with beautiful scenery. The food was very good (almost ate everything before taking a picture), and reasonably priced. Service by our waitron Price was great. Be sure to book a table on the deck. We will be back to taste their lunch and dinner selections.

Amazing food at very reasonable prices. If you want a quieter spot, ask to sit upstairs. Beautiful view and great experience overall.

Great setting especially when the birds started coming in to nest after sunset, great food... the desserts were mouth watering, good prices. They just need to make more frequent checks of the restrooms

πŸ‘πŸ‘ What a charming and exciting experience. This truly is a must visit place where they managed to create a true retro American Diner atmosphere and a vibe that takes you right into this rock 'n roll era. πŸ‘πŸ‘ Nice and clean store. Lots of variety. Meat products is always very low on Sundays, it might be good so you know you get fresh stock again, but a lot of people is buying groceries on Sunday for a week so then we have to go buy our meat products at another store. Some prices are high.
