Our entire family booked and stayed at this hotel together for my sisters wedding. The owner/manager was exceptionally accommodating. Never giving us any issue for any request. It was such a pleasure. We had the Friday evening meal at the restaurant and they out did themselves with the food and decor. Unfortunately the rooms need upgrades and housekeeping is beyond useless. The location is definitely not a good spot as theres always traffic on the roads coming into the hotel. This area is no longer safe and if you dont come with your own car and intend walking please do not stay here. Johannesburg is not safe for walking in any area Unfortunately as crime has increased. The staff were all pleasant and accommodating.

We had a fly infestation at the hotel. It was extremely uncomfortable to have flies ALL OVER. Definitely wasn't worth the price.

Horrible... smell of the carpets is a nightmare, the bathroom tiles are sticky of dirt, tried to have a bath the water is coming out with black things, the location is the worst, the parking area and surroundings is a mess, breakfast is the worst thing ever!!!! The need a proper housekeeping manager.

No maintenance. Jacuzzi was disgusting. Room showers was dirty. Corridor reeked of a horrible odour. Scratching noises is room. The walls in Corridor had the paint peeling off. Eyesore. Only the reception area was neat.Breakfast, very small variety. Won't be going back there

Very clean, friendly staff, room had all the amenities from fridge to iron, breakfast was amazing.

Good hotel in its location. Stayed at palm several times before. However now they no more the palm it was. The maid actually left the bedsheet cover on the bedsheet and expected us to put it in!? The pool really dirty; all other amenities there not working as it used to. Restaurant quality also getting worse. Friendly receptionist but otherwise a change in service is needed. Also too noisy. Rooms can hear one another. Still, was a good place and not too bad so 3 stars is fair. Great safe parking space also

There is a terrible odour in the passages of the hotel, smells like damp carpets! Very disappointing experience at breakfast. There are no pastries, croissants, muffins or scones available. None of the staff working the breakfast shift greet or smile, all act as though they are doing you a huge favor! The room itself was comfortable and clean but I doubt it would stay here again.

Wonderful place with an amazing and helpful staff. Rooms are clean at all times and the food is fresh. I would go there again.

Don't let the pictures fool you, No pool!!! horrible view out the window, doesn't look like anyone is maintaining the place, bathroom tap didn't work only thing positive is the staff they are really friendly and on the ball.

Very Well kept Hotel in Mayfair. The hotel itself is really well kept & neat. The rooms was up to standards . Lots of upgrades around the hotel but definitely shows signs of only more good to come . I had a good stay & the friendly staff really did go out of their way. The price charged had value & was reasonable. Will definitely stay here again if work permits.

Rooms are not too clean- the bedsheets are not changed even when they are dirty. Gym and pool have very very poor lighting, almost dark. Bathroom shower makes too much noise. Positive points: safe parking, friendly staff.

We stayed here few years ago and staying here currently. The standard has dropped alot. Bathroom tap fittings are loose, the bathtub mouldings pealing off, the carpets in room floor looks like they are not cleaned. Breakfast though is good. Regular maintenance needs to be done in the rooms

Was really looking forward at staying here. But not really worth it for me Jacuzzi was not hot, informed the staff about it several times, but was given a different answer all the time. This place is advertised as having a heated pool, really it was not hot at all I wont stay here again

I write this as I sit in my room Rooms are clean however furniture getting run down with poor repair work . Bathroom plumbing noisy and poor tiling. dstv has always been an issue here . Dstv is not working now . Only recordings of adverts. When i enquired from receptionist named Blessing ,he over 3 occasions said he was rebooting it . Then on 4th occasion he said that there was an error . DUH. No night manager and none available so indication that nothing is really managed. Would recommend it just for a sleep over if tired but not as a 4 star venue . Hope things change as this place is getting run down.

I'm shocked at the bad reviews. Before the covid I used this place a few times and everything was excellent. What happened now. Should I still use this place. Anyway I used this place from 21 to 24 April 2023. The reviews I seen about this place now, is not true. The manager was very accommodating. Both the night and day receptionist were pleasant and helpful. There were no such thing as bad odour from the carpets. The room was cleaned every day . The bedding were good and pillows very comfortable. The bath and toilet was always clean. As for the breakfast, I only used on the day of departure. I think the breakfast was reasonable and filling even though Lal Kila is no more there. Only thing is the coffee desk and the buffet desk should be closer to avoid less walking. The staff at the kitchen were friendly and accommodating. Will surely use this place again.

Stayed there this past weekend and it was terrible. Service from staff was bad. They were not helpfull at all. Have no idea how they're rated 4star. They are not even 2star. They aren't professional even. Their staff don't have on uniforms so they're dressed however and you don't know who works there or not. The breakfast area looks so shabby. I also asked them to do my laundry and all my washing came back wet. What kind of service is that. I had high expectations because we thought we going to a 4 star hotel.

I stayed here yesterday 13 june 2023. The service was horrendous. Apparently dstv wasnt working cos they didnt pay their account n this supposed to be a 4 star hotel maybe we are supposed to divide the 4 lol. Their telephone also out of order. The shower only has hot water no cold water so possibility of getting burnt very high. Breakfast was the worst by far bread was absolutely stale and the options were limited when asked answer given we have to wait 45 mins things are still getting ready... you are serving Breakfast from 7am i mean shouldnt preparations be done before that... very very disappointed

Very nice , bit pricy some days of the month but nice place and good service. But the maintenance needs upgrading fast.

We were very excited to go there as the pictures were stunning. A few disappointments. We booked through Agoda but when we got there sadly was no booking for us. The manager said they don't accept bookings from agoda. He was friendly tho and helped us with a booking. Unfortunately I had made special requests like a bathtub ,special requests for my hubbys birthday etc and none of that happened because we booked with agoda. The staff were very friendly and did try to help and make our stay as comfortable as they could. The breakfast on both days was ok . The eggs and chai tea was the highlight. The breakfast area very plain . The building is goin under some construction. The spa is non existent. The heated pools and Jacuzzi is what drew us there but unfortunately the heating was not working . Every time we wanted to use the heated pool and Jacuzzi they would say they are fixing or some other excuse. The jacuzzi also was dirty. The steam room was nice and relaxing but the toilets and change rooms don't get cleaned that often. So once you done have to walk all the way back to your room to shower. The Wi-Fi was troubling a lot. The room we stayed was on the ground floor. So we could hear all the noise from people I think outside and inside till late at night. The supper menu has to be ordered a little in advance and the food brought up to the room . I felt it was quite pricey however very tasty we had the chicken biryani and club sandwich. Over all the rooms neat and clean but our shower was leaking and we had a problem with the head but once we let reception know they sent somebody asap. Over all we had a relaxing time.

We had to constantly ask for help ,for cleaning, towels ,top up of tea and sugar in the mornings ,the only person who was of any help was a lady who arranged our booking . They also didn't have the breakfast that we were promised and only told us this on the day we were checking in . Overall very ugly and old .

I really enjoyed being there. The food oh I'm longing for the food people you must visit can't explain their hospitality to die for at the Continental. This place is for families,couples,Tour groups. The children has got also a space. I intend visiting there soon again.

Very convenient and nice spacious secure parking. Rooms very clean and spacious with lovely bathrooms. Service was great and restaurant delivers to your door with delicious food. Close to shops as well.

I wanted to meet Imran Kassim Receptionist told me I must wait because he is in the meeting I waited for about 20 or 30 minutes suddenly she said to me that Imran Kassim left for airport so I asked her did she informed him she said she is not allowed. I wonder how this place is runs.

I was advised that Palm Continental held nice functions , so Last year I paid 50% deposit for the restaurant for this month, I went on Saturday to pay the balance and to finalize the settings, but on my arrival the restaurant manager told me that they already booked another function but they can squeeze us in the corner. Their tables seats 12 and they going to give me two 12 seating tables for 45 people. I called Altaff , the manager from Continental Hotel who arranged everything for me and he kept telling us he is in a meeting at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. He refused to assist further and we sent him a message and told him to cancel. Since this morning the director of Palm Continental refuses to take my call.

Was there in September 2022.... place had a bad smell .... found a rat trap under my bed..... place definitely never felt like a 4 star hotel ..... cmon @palmcontinental do something about the place or rather just change the 4 stars to a 1

Lovely rooms, good customer service. The problem was that the TV wasn't working properly apparently due to poor weather and the TV channels are very basic - does not have main sport channels or movie channels.

4 Stars??? Are you kidding me? Where can I also buy stars for my own bed and breakfast?

My room was dirty when I arrived, the carpet looked like it hasn't been cleaned in more than a decade. First room I slept in was stinky and had spiders. I then requested to move to the another room and I got cockroaches there. The gym is not what is advertised on the net, doors are cracked and overall housekeeping is bad. Pest control does not exist in this place. I only chose it because of good reviews it had, I guess the standard has since dropped

The overall experience was ok. We travel to Johannesburg with our kids school and booked 12 room and requested that 10 of it be on 1 floor only to find on arrival that was never possible. The buffet breakfast was delicious with lots of options, for only the first morning after that it was very disappointing. They did not put enough or even refilled the buffet... Management need to be taught people skills and whatcustomer service is.

On the arrival at the hotel on my first day.. my room was not ready at 2pm and check-inn is at 12h00. In my first room 215, there was a huge patch of mould in my bathroom above my shower. I complained and advised I'm allergic to mould. I was given another room and had a terrible experience of discovering a mouse on my pillow at around 2am in the morning. I have a video as proof of the mouse in my room. I was unable to upload the video and took a screenshot of the mouse. I complained and went out for the day and when I returned the evening around 8pm, nothing was done, no mouse trap or poison was seen. The same morning I discovered the mouse, I went to shower, I had cold water. The indoor heated pool smells terribly like damp. The place is unkept and needs to be maintained, definitely not a 4 star, very disappointing. The housekeeping and receptionists are very friendly and do their best to assist, the manager is just not doing anything at all, can't reach him and won't do anything to compensate for any discomfort you experience. I do not recommend this hotel. I have uploaded my photos, it is currently not showing, not sure if if is due to internet issues... but I do have the proof

The room sheets were not changed....mat was dirty....tv remote not working....tv had only SABC channels...with a very bad signal....the kitchen was the worst of all....waiters looked like guest wearing their own normal clothes looking like customers.....and the food was like I don't know.....place lacked the basics.....

I stayed there for 1 week. Customer service was rubbish it looked like someone were forcing them to do a job there. They were talking so rude with the customers. They had no respect for the customers. Cockroaches in the rooms as well as in the restaurant LAL QILA They use to give 1 small water bottle in 24 hrs. If you had to drink more water you had to pay for it. They only look for money not for the customers. Once they get the money they don't even care about the customers. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone if you want to spend money with not getting any respect then you can go there.
