Great traditional hotel. Would highly recommend if you're staying in Rosebank. The mall is a 10 minutes walk away, it's in a nice safe neighborhood and the staff is great. I had wifi issues but they did their best to fix them. They also have a backup generator for when the power goes out.

Don't stay here. It's not a 5 star hotel. They wifi doesn't work, the TV in the room has one channel, it's sabc2. The staff have no intention of fixing anything. When I spoke to the staff about the issues they were very casual about it. The service is terrible. The manager is not on site. They can't do refunds. It's a place that seems to be going down. The staff don't take complaints seriously. They try to brush it as if the luster of the hotel will make up for bad service and issues that exists. I won't stay here again. You can see the place has aged and not been maintained. The TV in the room is from the 2000. You can barley see it from the bed. The furniture has not been changed in donkeys years. How are you competing against modern hotel chains. Don't stay here, it's going downhill. They are struggling.

Our booking was lost by their system (as new managers took over recently). The room type we booked was no longer available on our arrival. No real attempts to correct or make up for the issue. We decided to rather go to 54 on Bath, just around the corner, which I can highly recommend.

I didn't stay at the hotel but attended a bridal shower at this beautiful venue. This hotel is a hidden gem and well located. The service was great, the food was excellent and overall a good time was had by all. This is certainly a great place to hold a small function.

Very nice hotel in a great location close to Rosebank Mall. Rooms were spacious and clean and staff friendly.

It is my first time there. And the atmosphere is very refreshing and lovely. Also when entering the waiter was very welcoming. The food was delicious. And the best part it was Halaal. And the waiters and waitress very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely evening at this hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at this elegant boutique hotel located within walking distance of the Rosebank Mall. My room was quiet and comfortable and overlooked the swimming pool. I also enjoyed my dinner at the hotel restaurant I had the fish of the day. There was wifi available in my room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Came here as we had no water or power and needed both. We were assured these basic amenities would be available immediately. An hour after check in - no towels, no WiFi, no one at reception to help. We checked out and went to one of the many other options nearby. Refund was at least prompt.

This hotels is located in the Rosebank district of Johannesburg, not far from a shopping mall. If you wish to take the train from the airport, the station is not far away at all. This hotels is beautifully appointed and you will find spacious rooms, which offer all the amenities you would want. I was there for business, so could not enjoy it to the fullest, but my experience was flawless. For example, to avoid the negative effects of load shedding the hotel uses a power generator, so you won't be affected much, if at all, by the regularly scheduled loss of electricity. Breakfast at the hotel is heavenly, I enjoyed working on the terrace and having a cup of tea, followed by a little something from the menu. Your food will be freshly prepared and is of the best quality. Staff for the most part are very friendly and attentive. If your experience is anything like mine, you won't be able to find fault with the local team. Personally I found the receptionist a bit distant and cold, but then again, when I needed help and assistant they were quick to respond. Overall, whether you are there for business or pleasure, this hotel is a great choice.

I have to say the staff is excellent, very kind and professional and extremely helpful and always there to offer assistance. The receptionist was very welcoming and the manager as well However When I arrived I have asked for ice so that I can chill my champagne….there were no ice for me? I was really surprise so I had to go and buy at a garage The AC in the room didn’t work during loadshedding The Wifi went on and off the entire time The safe in the room was not operational Either than that the rooms are beautiful and clean

The network reception is almost non-existent, and the WiFi is poor quality. It takes a very long time for the hot water to start pouring out of the taps. My key card was dysfunctional, and as a result I kept having to make multiple trips to the reception each time I needed to get into my room. It took close to 30 minutes for the staff to bring me an iron and ironing board. You'd expect a so called 5 star hotel to have enough amenities. There's barely enough parking space.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! (Oct 2022) The Winston is under new ownership and they’ve ruined what was once an incredible hotel. It is NO longer a 5-star: •NO WIFI during our entire stay!!! •No complimentary gowns or slippers •Only 3 pool sunbeds (shared by 30 rooms) •Only cranberry juice for breakfast •Nespresso machine….but you have to call housekeeping for coffee pods •I woke up to loud banging coming from next door (at 7AM) due to renovations Very, very disappointed….

Sadly there was an issue with my room which meant I had to be swapped. In my new room the bed was as hard as a plank, meaning no sleep for me. Although requesting a swap back several times my request was ignored. So, although I visit Johannesburg weekly, I won’t stay here again due to the beds. The Hyatt closeby has great beads and much softer linen.

This hotel is so beautiful. The decor is stunning. My husband and I stayed in a courtyard suite and it is worth the upgrade. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in (to where we want to ask the hotel where they buy their linens). The little details made the stay even better: there was a heater in the bathroom, fragrance in the lobby, and a fire pit by the pool. The staff is so attentive and helpful, they held our luggage there for 7 hours after we checked out. The location is great too. It was a 5 minute walk to the Rosebank Mall

I was very underwhelmed by my room, the amenities, and the service. Overall, the place felt more reminiscent of a very nice hostel than a "5-star luxury hotel". Bar was unstaffed. Restaurant was really not great. The room was small. Some of the furniture and fixtures seemed very old. For instance, the bathroom mirrors needed to be replaced a while ago. As far as I could tell there was no spa or any of the things you'd expect from a 5-star hotel. At the end of my trip I needed to book another night in Johannesburg and made sure to book it somewhere else. However, if you want a cheapish stay in a nice central area, this is a good option, but don't expect too much..

Fantastic stay! This hotel lives up to it's 5star reputation. I would definitely stay here again and will definitely be recommending it to anyone looking for a good hotel.

Five star hotel without Wi-Fi is a huge disappointment. Construction notices won’t let you rest, On top of that no response to my mails to give a chance to make it up: Dear Hotel Manager, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Winston Hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to bring these issues to your attention. Firstly, despite inquiring about the functionality of Wi-Fi during load shedding prior to my arrival, I encountered connectivity issues that resulted in me missing a crucial online business meeting. This discrepancy between the information provided and the actual service was highly inconvenient and disruptive to my professional commitments. Additionally, I must highlight a discrepancy in the room provided during this stay compared to my previous visit. The superior room I had booked previously was notably more spacious than the one assigned to me on this occasion. This variance in room size was unexpected and not in line with my previous experience at your establishment. I understand that unforeseen challenges may arise, but the combination of a lack of reliable Wi-Fi and a notable difference in room size has left me dissatisfied with my stay at the Winston Hotel. As a loyal customer, I had hoped for a seamless and enjoyable experience. I kindly request that you investigate these matters promptly and provide a resolution that aligns with the high standards I have come to expect from the Winston Hotel. Your attention to these concerns is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to a swift and satisfactory resolution. Sincerely,

This was an absolutely charming hotel and the staff was amazing, friendly, helpful, they really made us feel at home. If you are a shopper, this is the place to be! Very close to Rosebank Mall, short walk. The hotel was ultra clean and comfortable, I can't say enough about the experience, we highly recommed this superior location if staying in Johannesburg.

If you're looking for a quiet, luxurious place to stay, the Winston will be perfect for you. The spacious room has its own private little garden, study and a large bathroom. The coffee machine says "No" to instant coffee! A real treat. We had lunch there, was excellent and the service superb.

My friend just traveled back to Ireland yesterday. I referred him to stay at Winston Hotel. He booked for 5 days, l had to change him to City Lodge Hotel in Fourways. One, his iPhone was stolen by the staff after forgetting it where he was eating his dinner, one of the staff asked him to withdraw 4500 rands, the reason was that the employer is paying them peasants and he was poor. How can hostel staff beg money from customers? My friend was also complaining about the staff for begging money too much from him and poor service. They are obsessed with tips only. I had to remove my friend from the hotel and transfer him to City Lodge Hotel as he was complaining about the staff. We tried to report these issues to the manager but it seems both the manager and the staff are birds of the same furthers flocking together.

We travel a lot, and we have stayed in a few hotels thus I can honestly say that The Winston Hotel is EXCELLENT. Friendly staff, big rooms, great service and affordable prices. Thando at reception is so sweet and always friendly! Paul is always there to assist with anything. The Hotel itself is beautiful, lovely decor and they even make a bond fire every night for guests to enjoy. It’s our second time staying at the Winston Hotel, this will definitely be our go to hotel for Johannesburg. Only thing that could be better is the Wifi.

The Winston Hotel was previously a favourite of mine. I have stayed there a number of times, whilst on business in Johannesburg. Unfortunately, the last time I was denied such pleasure, because they saw fit to place my wife and I in an (unnamed) sister hotel, because guests elected to extend their stay. So, we had to be inconvenienced, because we booked via booking.com. Secondly, we were told this the night before, whilst we were abroad. What if we were in transit and found out about this unilateral change on the day we were to arrive? Attempts to empathise was misplaced. How could they? I am only glad that booking.com resolved the matter and arranged a free cancellation, whilst we had to make alternative arrangements. They have lost a client and our firm will definitely not do business with them.

The property is quite beautiful no doubt. There is no gym though and they discourage you from going for a run outside. The worst part was that the internet was down throughout the evening. I could get no actions besides "IT guy is working". I would come up with solutions and they would go to talk to the manager and would never come back. I had persuaded my work to let me stay here instead of a chain hotel around the corner. I was so disappointed and stressed during this stay. I'm surprised they let the property run in this manner.

I enjoyed my stay at Winston, the rooms were excellent, no complaints at all The staff were helpful in every way and even went as far as preparing meals not on the menu just because I asked. A special shout out to David (the manager), Kaba (front desk) and my favorite waiters Kwadwo and Paul who attended to my every need at the restaurant. They have a standby generator which kicks in anytime there is load shedding in johannesburg. The location is perfect, just about 10 min walk from the rosebank mall.

Beautiful garden retreat from the glass and steel of Rosebank malls. Gorgeous rooms, fabulous beds, perfect pool. Susan at reception was a star in sorting out any minor issues.
