It was good, but for the price I expected better. The staff were very friendly, bed comfortable and everything felt clean, but a few things that stood out which lowered the novelty/luxury level: The shower head wasn't adjustable for different water flows. The door to the room slams loudly if you leave it. There is no privacy curtain, which means either the room has no natural light or everyone can look in if they have binoculars. The coffee machine didn't work, which wasn't such a biggie because they brought a new one. Overall I enjoyed my stay, but just a bit lacking for a 4 or 5 star review. 🌟

Stayed for a week for workshop at the hotel. Room was very comfortable. Air con could be cooler. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Robert looked after the workshop team daily and was an absolute legend. Conference facilities were great with Tech always in proximity for issues. Pool times too limited, couldn't swim before work at pool only opens at 10am. Overall it was a very nice visit. Thanks African Pride team.

From the moment I exited the elevator from the parking garage, I encountered the artwork which was in keeping with the theme of the hotel, and which I found to be impressive. The staff, which included hotel Management were warm, welcoming and very helpful. My room was well maintained, comfortable and provided the ideal venue for a bit of rest and relaxation, with delicious food to add to the mix. I would definitely recommend the African Pride Hotel to anyone looking to getaway from the hussle and bustle of it all.

Beautiful reception, very well taken care of. The receptionist was welcoming, easy to talk to. Loved the change of scenes and the music that played in the background. Had a chat with one of the chefs. Great individual, absolutely enjoys the work he is doing, making this place a place of choice when it comes to picking a hotel. Loved it.

This hotel is well maintained and kept to a good standard but I wouldn’t say it is 5 stars. The room decor is very strange, it’ll certainly keep you entertained for a while. Especially if you brainiac enough to find the safe. I would like a door for the bathroom but it’s all open plan. Though it makes the room feel bigger it’s not practical when you need privacy. The staff are very good and always there to offer warm welcome or to be of service. Low score given because electricity keeps going off, meaning air conditioning keeps tripping or the tv gets scrambled, the Wi-Fi turns off. The bath water is yellow not to sure why that is but it’s definitely not qualities of a 5 star establishment. I was at the bar one night and the whole area was in pitch black. It would be a nice touch maybe to light the area with solar lights or maybe candle light. But no attempts made by hotel, they just expect you to live with it.

TLDR: Doesn’t live up to the 5 star expectations Stayed at African Pride for 3 nights. The day I arrived they were having issues with the WiFi. The staff were dismissive and unwilling to assist me, despite letting them know I had work calls. Later that night, I ordered room service and woke up the next morning with severe stomach issues. Over the course of the day my condition worsened and although I advised the staff, no one checked up or helped me. Luckily I had my own medicine recommended by my doctor back home should I run into bacterial issues with the food. The room was decent, although the Nespresso machine didn’t work and the bath water was green. Lastly, I accidentally left my ring light in the hotel room and no one reached out to me. I didn’t realize it until days later. The guest manager advised me she would mail them but I sent my address and rec’d no response. As a single woman traveling while working remotely, my experience was terrible. I did not feel secure or taken care of and would not recommend staying here.

Very good Value for Money! I stayed 3 nights in two separate periods. The first two nights I was in a room 401 with a smaller bed vs the king I booked, so it was not comfortable with my wife. The third night we got the room 432 with king bed and it was better, even though the floor was damaged (I guess by some water leakage). We also had a false fire alarm that was inconvenient. I do not like the curtains that cannot separate the sun-shading vs the cover. Breakfast was very good. Service nice but a bit slow also at check-in.

I had a few business meetings here. Only got to see the restaurant facilities and reception area. Service was excellent. Location isn't the best as you would need to drive on Corlette to get here.

The lounge ooozes old school charm and class. Perfect setting for formal or informal meetings. Highly recommend!

Such a classy, clean and beautiful hotel. 24 hour housekeeping services and overall great hospitality. Definitely loved the view from the unit and the fact that you remain connected to the wifi even when you out eating at the Instanbul kebab & nearby restaurant.

I’ve decided to stay here as Marriot at the same location was twice more expensive. I was very surprised how friendly is the staff working here. Hotel has nice swimming pool but because of winter time was to cold for me to swim 🙂 Pool bar is nice with a good selection of drinks and snacks. I also like the quality of rooms and comfy bed. The only thing what I am not sure about is no door to the bath area but curtain instead. Still, that wouldn’t stop me from staying in this place again and that what I will most likely do next time when I visit Johannesburg.

Nice hotel. On the smaller side compared to the big chains obviously. Supposed to be 5 star but doesnt really feel like the absolute lap of luxury even though, for the price you pay that's exactly what youd expect. It doesnt have a generator to compensate for loadshedding at all and when the power finally does come back on lights come on that weren't even on when the power went off in the first place and this happens at all hours of the day and night making a solid nights sleep quite impossible. This is quite a big problem and I hope they sort it out asap.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful, they helped me sometimes with printing documents for free. Breakfast was excellent 👌🏽, boosting you up before tackling the day. Only negative note was the TV, kinda a joke for this level of standard and quality.

This hotel is very good located in Johannesburg! Breakfast is super delicious. It is buffet, but you can also order something from the menu. Pool is also available.

This trip was my 1st solo experience and I must say I had an amazing time. Mr. Dingaan made sure my trip went smoothly and took the extra mile to ensure I had the most amazing experience. Mr. Dingaan was an absolute delight and I'm very thankful our path encounter. He was the highlight of my trip. I can't thank him enough. Also, all the other hotel staff I encounter was very kind in helpful. From Ms. Pretty at the Front Desk, The waitress Tanya, Monica the Guest Relations Manager (Thanks for my birthday card :) )and many more names I cant recall. I hope to visit again one day soon. I will refer this hotel to my friends and family who plans to visit South Africa in the near future.

We vacationed in Johannesburg and Cape Town to celebrate Mrs. Green's 80th Birthday! We stayed in Johannesburg for 4 days and Cape Town for 3 days. The African Pride Hotel in Johannesburg South Africa is beautiful and the staff are amazing. We were greeted on the first day of arrival by Mr. Dee. He said" Welcome Home". He made a reservation for us at the Grille House then walked down to the restaurant later to ensure that we arrived. He ensured that were taken care of. He recommended tours, he was our go to person while visiting. I cannot say enough about Mr. Dee, He came by on his day off to say goodbye. This hotel is centrally located in Melrose Arch walking distance from restaurants, stores, everything you would need. But ensure to visit the restaurant onsite for a delicious breakfast and divine desserts. The cappuccino coffee cake is beyond scrumptious. From the front desk, concierge, wait staff, restaurant staff, maintenance personnel everyone was cordial and welcoming. If you ever visit Johannesburg book your stay here. You will not regret it. From the Green family from South Carolina Thank you Mr. Dee and hotel staff for giving us a great vacation that we will never forget.

Hardly do I give 5 stars to a place but the Africa Pride @ Melrose’s Arch in Johannesburg totally deserves it. The decor is out of this world; totally exquisite with a retro feel. The location is great for travelers as a one stop shop with a decent selection of restaurants, clothing shops and bookstores. The Aduna Restaurant was the highlight for me as someone who loves their (healthy) breakfast and the staff paid great attention to us.

Nice hotel , conference rooms don't seem to have effective AC for the amount of very hot downlights

We really enjoyed our stay at the African Pride. The rooms were beautiful and large. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was terrific. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. We also took the hop on hop off bus tour which has a stop not too far from the hotel.

Awesome chiq hotel with outstanding service and amazing staff. This Alice in Wonderland themed hotel is simply a bliss! This hotel is well situated in the Melrose Arch and so nearby to great eateries, shops and even gym. The breakfast here is super awesome! Highly recommended Autograph Collection Hotel!

Service is always excellent. Rooms on the swimming pool floor are a must for any couple looking for a romantic weekend away from home. Cocktails can be pricey though....

We have stayed here previously, as a matter of fact this is the 5th time. The hotel has lost its focus. There is no attention to detail anymore and the room we stayed in (229) was looking quite shabby. The curtains are for example torn. There is no personal feel or anything welcoming about the room. A smart TV would be nice as the TV channels are limited.

Amazing venue with perfect service, the patrons and staff are courteous and friendly. The rooms look beautiful, with a wonderful view over Melrose Square. The menu was delicious and served with care to be signature to the amazing and artistic hotel that is Melrose Arch. Wonderful place, do book accommodation there and experience a wonderfully crafted hotel, home to South Africa's largest painted mural.

Great lux hotel, clean , nice staff and great breakfast. Location is great with many restaurants . Needs a refresh in some parts of the room but overall great experience. gym is outside the hotel and usually paid (depending on your marriott loyalty they may give you a voucher).

Great location and the staff are fantastic and adorable. Very friendly without being fake, maybe great actors but you get the feeling you're just interacting with genuinely good people. Rooms are well appointed, nice bath and shower. Don't look too closely as the finish is a bit sub standard, but nothing functional that impacts your stay. The tiling in the bathrooms and seal around your main door could be better. The breakfast is good in a beautiful setting.

The hotel was a real mix of excellence and mediocre service. I had originally written a poor review due to the way we were treated by one of the front desk staff. Having been offered a late check out when I called the hotel a week in advance, I was then told that we would have to pay for it because I couldn’t remember the name of the person I spoke to (despite having a record of the call.) On the end, we were not charged and the front desk were apologetic. Other inconsistencies included the service at breakfast. Lightening fast and outstanding one day and incredibly slow the next. The food was excellent. Overall though, the hotel is very nice. The rooms and decor are a little dated but interesting and in keeping with the overall ambiance of the hotel. It is also very well located. It was the perfect place to experience Johannesburg at the end of a wonderful trip to a beautiful, if still broken, country. We will be back.

Extremely Disappointed as this hotel didn’t give me the privilege deserved as a platinum member, this is evidenced by stalling my room upgrade request, Bella the account manager told me I might get to upgrade the next day despite there actually plenty of room to upgrade for…. Even till next day I turned to Bella, she still acted like ignoring my request. Hotel price doesn’t include breakfast, that’s ok, i could have chosen the room rate with breakfast included, but this was not an option on the Marriott app. Whilst Bella gave me one breakfast voucher, but it felt more like I was a free-rider… which is not a pleasant experience. Also, surprisingly, this hotel doesn’t come with the gym facility, instead needed to use the outside affiliated gym, that’s ok too, but how come I should be charged by this gym voucher for 200 ZAR??? Planned to stay for over a week, but above experience made me check out next day, and the worse part came in, was told that I need to provide my banking info through hotel sent link for refund. This is really an eye opener, as since when Marriott hotel started to torcher customer like this? Isn’t it more efficient to refund the payment straight to the credit card you charged authorization from? And Why must customer have to wait for 7-14 days to get it??? All in all, I dun see any pride for this hotel, service, facility etc in all aspects, Africa shame fits better.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Melrose Arch. The rooms are designed and arranged for comfort. The bathtub and rubber duck are a brilliant feature of the rooms. I enjoyed the breakfast, good healthy choices at the buffet table and well-made cooked breakfast, if you ask for it. I really enjoyed my stay there. Hope to be back!

I truly enjoyed my stay. Cost, great decor. The food menu is limited, for extended stays it could get boring. The food does not come to the room hot. There’s no microwave and very small refrigerators. Some rooms do not have them. The TVs are SD. Limited stations. There’s a radio in the rooms that didn’t pick up stations. They do have great staff. They do not spilt restaurant tabs, important to know. The pool was supposed to open Oct 21, it never did.

There are special moments when one needs to connect deeply with those closest to one's heart. The ambiance must not only enable but accentuate such moments. African Pride embodies such spiritually rejuvenating spaces, together with its service and cuisine

First time staying at this hotel. Very welcome surprise by the level of service received. At check-in and check-out, at the restaurant for breakfast and throughout my stay. The whole staff extremely friendly and eager to provide a great experience. Well done!
