What
a
special
place.
We
took
a
two
hour
tour
of
Orlando
west,
Mzimhlophe
and
Phomolong.
I
learned
new
things
about
Soweto.
The
tour
guides
from
Soweto
Backpackers
were
so
knowledgeable
with
a
grounded
perspective
of
people’s
experiences,
history
and
the
politics
in
the
township.
You
can
either
do
the
tour
on
a
bicycle,
tuk
tuk
or
walk
it.
We
stopped
to
eat
a
township
favorite
-
magwinya,
snoek
fish
and
archaar.
We
also
stopped
at
the
Walter
Peterson
memorial
which
tells
the
story
of
the
cruelty
of
the
white
Apartheid
state
which
fired
on
student
protestors
on
16
June
1976.
The
tour
guides
were
the
best,
known
around
the
township
and
this
enables
them
to
tell
the
story
of
the
people
with
lots
of
insight.
Sadly
lots
of
people
have
lost
jobs
due
to
COVID.
So
if
you
can,
go
explore
SA.
We
have
a
beautiful
country.
So
many
passionate
people
in
tourism
are
waiting
to
receive
you.
