I stayed at 54 on Bath in March, for a four night city break. It was a mixed experience. The surrounding are extremely elegant and beautifully maintained. It is conveniently placed for shopping and the gautrain to the airport. I particularly appreciated the pianist at reception, abundance of fresh flowers, elegant furnishings; including well polished wood, quality fabrics, linens, curtains, and carpeting. The service was mostly good, and some of it was outstanding, like the gentleman in a brocade coat, of slight build, (my apologies, his name escapes me)at front desk on my last day and the room service. However, and unfortunately, I had to change rooms three times in my pursuit of peace. I was placed in rooms on the side of the hotel, that was later explained to me has taxis coming and going. And those chaps have no qualms about blowing their infernal horns incessantly, be it 11pm at night or 4am in the morning. That really marred my entire experience, being exhausted from broken sleep does not make for a relaxing break. I would stay again if I was assured I had a room on the opposite side of the hotel to the taxis. I am told those taxis transport staff to and from work, so perhaps it should be impressed on the municipality to make bye laws to control the noise, so that it doesn't drive away some of the hotel's custom with the knock on effect this would have on employment. Just a thought.

Beautiful, elegant well appointed fine dining space serving excellent cuisine. Every dish sampled was unexpectedly well flavoured, perfectly seasoned, and very much enjoyed. Compliment to the chef. Dessert was pavlova which was epic.

What an awesome experience and definitely one of the best hotels I've been too. The security team is amazing and the front desk staff Pearl and her team were always accommodating. The ambiance simply the best. Please share this with the team, keep providing amazing service.

Great looking building. Beautifully decorated and neat inside. The service is wonderful, professional. The staff is fantastic. The food is great. Area of improvement: In the room I was in, the shower cubicle is tiny.

Idillyc venue, strategically removed from the urban energy around, a go to for corporate events & family type cozy events alike. I recall stepping out of this convention on water, only to encounter a seasoned pilot with his cabin crew, about to jet out, thanks to the venue's alignment to the aviation industry strategic partners, it's a home away from home in more ways than one. Whether it's out of the office planning sessions or a stop over by an airline crew.

I highly recommend this place. Been to many hotels but this one stands out. I slept very well while at Bath, and found their staff quite intuitive. The direct access to Rose Bank mall quite a convenience. Would love to stay there again.

Stunning English-decorated hotel! We had a lovely honeymoon stay for the night! We got upgraded to a stunning room - very large and beautifully decorated! The in-house restaurant is incredible - food was unreal - highly recommend the place and food!

A very high class hotel in a place where you didn't expect to find one. Good but a bit slow restaurant on the 4th floor with a link to a shopping mall on the 2nd floor, thought it was a great place and intend to return

Staff incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. The food, both breakfast and dinner we're incredible! Absolutely would stay again.

The pool Is so small, breakfast did not cater for vegetarians. For a five star hotel, they should go to four seasons around the corner and see what five star service is about. Breakfast was really swak (very weak) the breakfast room Is also very small. The worst 5 star I've been at. Even the parking outside the hotel they should offer valet services.

Very nice and cosy hotel with a good balance of luxury and home comfort . I loved their warm decor and live piano treat in the foyer. However, you wouldn't be happy here if you are used to efficient bar/restaurant service unless you have plenty of time to kill while waiting for your drinks and food; we had to wait at least 2hrs to be served drinks and food on a regular evening. This was a kill joy

We attended 54 on Baths high tea. The food was amazing. The selection really good (the photos don’t do it justice). It is pricy for what you get though and the ambiance was not great. We were the only people there! Staff were attentive and again, food outstanding.

Excellent service from arrival to checkout. Although I had made a late reservation which was not yet reflecting on the system, the reception I received was warm and professional. I must say the food was so divine. Definitely ticked my boxes!

I loved everything. The the staff is amazing. Shuttle services organised by Christine and Faith was excellent. The food and the environment 👌🏾⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Definitely coming back with my family next time, to enjoy all the facilities offered (especially the pool & spa) and shop at Rosebank mall 🙏🏽

Very comfortable hotel. The decoration was also nice, especially at the lobby and on the 4th floor (breakfast/dining room and access to the pool, that was actually very narrow and smaller than what it looked on the photos). We were pleased with the services provided and with our stay. Minor thing, though: everything takes a long time. For example: room-service, plates that you have to order during breakfast because they are not available as self-service, towels for the pool/sunbathing area, etc. One thing that it's nice is that there's a bridge on the 2nd floor connecting the hotel to a mall, and outside there are also many restaurants and shops. Recommended.

Great place! Employees are so kind, foods are delicious and fresh, place is really cool. You should visit here if you will go Johannesburg one day.

What a lovely gem in the middle of the city. I just loved it, and can't wait for the next visit so we can enjoy this place at leisure. It deserves its reputation. The staff was also so kind and accommodating.

Enjoyed a neat, fine-dining experience with industry leagues. Spectacular views , as though from a Jane Austen classic (think "mahogany" and "luxury"). Positive criticism: It's unhelpful when waiters take down people's orders only to return with the plates and resume the question of who ordered what all over again. It's confusing and distracting. Suggestion: Take the orders of each guest in a large group together with their names. That way, you'll know what was prepared for whom, and you'll be on a first-name basis with each guest, making and already intimate space even more cosy.

The rooms are great, bedding and rooms are clean. The hotel has a great peaceful ambience about it. However the personal, and service is extremely poor and substandard. They take forever to serve you, which overall makes the place substandard because hotels have to be about service and the service is substandard which is such a pity

Came here on a quiet Monday night. Service was attentive and the food was good. Didn’t particularly enjoy the crème brûlée but everything else we had was great. Will be back

Attended a 2 day workshop at the conference facilities. Coffee bar, batista and waitrons were friendly and helpful. Great service all round. Room was well setup. Transition between loadshedding and generators kicking in was good. Only downside was the halaal food that was supplied by an outside caterer. It was a let down for this amazing 5 star establishment.

I took my family for a High Tea at 54 in Bath today. The whole experience was very disappointing. Firstly, they insisted that we had to be there at 2.30 sharp. We did this, and then waited till 3:15 to get the tea. The tea itself was not as good as a sweet platter from Doppio would be at a sixth of the price. All in all a very disappointing, dreary experience that I will not recommend.

Beautiful lobby, with fresh flowers. Spacious rooms that feel homely. Great service from the staff from the doormen, front desk, housekeeping and restaurant. Lovely menu to order from. A great plus is the direct entry into Rosebank Mall on the 2nd level

Phoned hotel iro high tea.... the lady could not tell me yay or nay or pricing. No one answers phones when she was transferring the call. For a top class hotel shocking. Give it a miss. Not worth the hassle and this is not even the venue eats or service. What a start.

Really love the ambiance in the foyer… the pianist on point always, the feel of the place gives you that old money charm. Only issue the fireplace was not working 🥶😞

Breakfast here is my favourite thing. Bottomless mimosas, coffees, continental breakfast table and a warm breakfast all for 280? Come on.

We had a high tea for our little girl’s birthday and it was excellent! Pianist Will provided a beautiful musical background with amazing renditions of classic and contemporary pop songs, took requests and even played happy birthday for our daughter. The TWG tea was sublime and the experience was made very special by the tea timer and the excellent confections and savory delights. The pastrami quiche, raspberry parfait with tea foam, smoked salmon bagel and orange caramel macaroons were highlights. Our waitress Rose provided elegant service and organized a special slice of chocolate birthday cake with beautiful presentation. The setting is stylish and sumptuous, with beautiful chairs and comfortable couches and a lovely Christmas tree.

Nice hotel overall. Seems to be a little old fashioned, but still luxury. They had towel warmers and a special candle by the bath. Rooms were clean and elegant. Breakfast was included, where you can order meals or pick from a small buffet. Service was overall friendly and helpful.

It lacks ambience and breakfast could be better (for a 5 Star Hotel). The rest was fine, but (personally) I prefer Hyde Park.

As soon as you enter you are greeted with such warm and welcoming people. It was a short stay but truly immaculate. The service is incredible, the food is amazing. Staying at 54 on Bath was a dream. I would highly recommend this hotel, an unforgettable experience. If I could rate it 10 stars, I absolutely would.

Wow! Their afternoon tea (high tea) is something to really rave about. What. An. Experience. Jeffrey was such a gentleman, he made our time there super comfortable, and really amazing. Oh, and the tea selection and food...fresh, delicious, aesthetically pleasing, and filling (we were a group of 5)! And the star of the day - Will, The Pianist! Wow, wow, wooooow! Will gave a soothing yet outstanding 3hr performance. It was such a pleasure to watch him perform hit after hit. His performance and charm kept us all entertained.

Recently re-opened after COVID forced it to temporarily close its doors, the hotel is a gem. Staff were very attentive, our room was modern with good views. The food in the restaurant was really great. It's connected to the mall, so it's easy to do some shopping, eat out or go to the movies. In the hotel they take COVID precautions very seriously which is refreshing. Best of all is the price. For a 5-star hotel in a very nice area in an attractive building, you can pay 3-star prices. Highly recommend. (Oh and also the lobby lounge smells fantastic)

Excellent food and service at a premium price in a boutique style hotel. Cozy, with subdued live music, in the center of high- density Rosebank. Safe parking.

Stunning, boutique hotel in Rosebank! Beautiful old classic feels with special photos of old Jhb around the hotel. Decor is beautiful - could’ve been in England. Excellent service, amenities and a romantic, friendly, relaxed but upmarket atmosphere. Lovely room, great bed and heated towel rails - plus incredible views of Rosebank. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. Definitely going back.

The staff is very friendly and the facilities are beautiful. The only negative is the lack of gym facilities. The current arrangement is not working where you have to walk outside to a.siater hotel.

  • 5/5 Shane G P. 2 years ago on Google
Great atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff. Quaint and well maintained. The hotel makes may look like it has been there for many years but inside it is modern and well equipped. This is the the fist time here and it won't be my last. Look forward to staying the night.

There is no gym on the premises. Guests are allowed access to fitness centre at the sister hotel nearby, however walking the streets of Johannesburg in the early hours of the morning is not safe and the walk is further than made out. The fitness centre at the other hotel is shocking. Used tiny milks in my coffee in the room on the first morning and they were not replenished so couldn’t have a coffee the second morning. Small amount of milk spilled from opening tiny milk container was never cleaned up. Rooms are spacious, but showers are ridiculously small and door didn’t close properly. You have to pay for parking, which is ridiculous considering the rate of the hotel. Asked for a newspaper at breakfast and was told they don’t have any. I will definitely never stay here again!

  • 1/5 Gavin M. 2 years ago on Google
Strangely people will call to discuss your review (but then not call back at an agreed time) and then the hotel will absolutely ignore multiple requests for something simple like an invoice or update on the credits passed. The experience continues ….

We stayed here for 1 night en route to Victoria Falls. The room was very nice but so dark, even with all the lights on I had problems seeing in my case. We went for dinner at 7.30, at ten past nine our mains arrived. I appreciate we were a party of 18 but they were aware of the numbers before we arrived. Most of us had been up around 4.30 that morning and were beyond tired. Several people went without dessert as they were too tired. Our room was very noisy with the sound of water. We went to have a shower in the morning, but after 3 minutes of switching it on still cold water. We didn't bother after that as I am very conscious of wasting water. Not a good start for our once in a life time excursion.
