Had a huge conference there. 3 February. How do you only serve about 4 platters to 400 people during teatime? The aircon did not work with so many people. So they brought cheap fans that were supposed to cool you. Not a good impression.

I was at the hotel over a week ago. The house keeping was good, the vegetarian supper/lunch meals where also very nice. However the place does give some kind of false impression in person. For one on the pictures the pool looks clean and we'll maintained but when we arrived at the hotel it looked like the pool had not been cleaned in months. Also they claim to cater for vegetarians breakfast but their breakfast meals showed no consideration. On one morning we were served left over spinach for breakfast, then on a different morning we were giving baby marrow as part of breakfast to have with bread. I was also disappointed by the treatment of some of the staff there, this one guy was so rude when I was asking for things or refills during meal times. In two instances when I was asking for a refill for juice he said juice is finished, on one instance he told me they were doing us a favor by serving us juice while we paid for all services at the hotel. Lastly I think the management could do better with the upkeep of the outside facilities of the hotel

The Lakes hotel is a very beautiful hotel next to a lake. I stayed in a presidential suite which is very spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Had a bad experience, this hotel looks good from outside, the rooms are not so cozy as they appear on the pictures online. Arriving Friday night from my long international trip didn't even have hot water. Even Saturday morning. Sleeping was so difficult with inconsiderate guests who were making noise throughout the night right through to the morning where at some stage some kids knocking on my room mistaken it for another room. I asked myself where are the parents? Oh by the way they are the ones who were making noise themselves. No order at this hotel, I would have expected security to attend to this careless and inconsiderate guests. Will I ever visit this place again? A definite NO.

The hotel rooms are in need of a serious upgrade. The carpets are dirty. There are no 2pin plugs for charging electronic devices. The appliances are dated. The Aircon takes 15 minutes to start up. I had a late check in and I had to arrange for bags to be taken up by myself. The vending machine requires exact change. My stay was unfortunately nothing short of disaster and disappointment.

Attended a conference here, was not staying overnight, to be honest, it reminded me of an exam hall. Nothing spectacular, but nothing negative to say

It was an ideal place for a celebration. Clean, continously kept clean. Great gardens and good staff.

The food is not bad - I had coffee and lunch as part of workshop. Quite a variety. Carpet on stairs going to 2nd level needs cleaning or change - does not look good. Large conference rooms with ICT facilities. Clean toilets and sinks. Plenty free parking.

Beautifully situated. Clean hotel, fresh food and quiet space. Resourceful conference rooms with brilliant group catering services.

The reception ladies and IT guys very nice and helpful. However, the kitchen staff exepecilly the guys at the counter are horrible with capital H. We requested for halal and didn't even make an effort, even made nasty comments to us. The picture above is our breakfast

Attended an event at the hotel.. Facility was beautiful, but the Halaal food catered for us, although appreciated, but was an absolute disappointment.. Dry, cold, overcooked

Generally a very comfortable stay. Staff were friendly and check-in process was smooth and quick. Some minor gripes; the water in your room is not suitable for drinking and they supplied a few complementary bottles of bottled water; however nowhere nearly sufficient. The hot/cold water controls seem a little faulty and I couldn't get hot water from the shower. Additionally the bathroom light in my room didn't work at all. Only provided a small soap to wash hands. So if you're staying here, definitely carry your own toiletries and drinking water. Still in spite of the gripes, I do still recommend the hotel. I loved its ambience and look.

I do not recommend using the hotel transport. The driver of KG40LF GP is aggressive. I have not stayed at the hotel but, on the highway, I have been tailgated with him flashing his headlights. Just because he did not want to go around in the empty lane to my left. I was going above 120 at the time.

We were there today the 04th October 23. The place is to die for. The cleanliness is out of this world. The food is heavenly. I could eat there everyday and never get bored. The service is amazing. Everything is 5 stars. I had the pleasure of dealing with Dimakatso. What a lovely and professional lady. Her service is top tier. And she makes it a point to address you by your name and she never forgets it. I now love my name, Sabby - because of her. She took time to come and meet us face to face because everything was done via emails and phone calls. Dimakatso thank you for making our stay enjoyable. The best meeting we have ever had so far. The lakes hotel is amazing

Hotel is in need of a bit of a spruce up. Rooms are adequate but look like they've come out of the 80's. Not hot water, so had to make do with a cold shower. Power went out at breakfast time & they didn't appear to have a generator, so the "hot" breakfast was cold & greasy. Staff were all very friendly but I doubt that I will be rushing back to stay here. Luckily, we just stayed one night after a function there. Conference facilities were good & the food at our function was excellent but they need the hotel facilities to backup the conference facilities!

Spend the night in the luxury room. What a disappointment started with people fighting in the reception because the hotel overbooked the rooms. Then waiters were rude and there was no stock in the bars. Getting back to the room the showers were blocked,1 towel for the room and where noisy caused by Aircons on the outside. It's clear that there's no management in control of this venue.

We made a special request as we are vegan. And boy the Chef did not disappoint. He personally made sure all our dietary requirements are met and he even came to ask if everything is okay.. we are very pleased!

We went to the News years party with great disappointment . There was no supervision when it came to the catering and Bar services. Food ran out drinks ran out. We had to serve ourselves with little pieces of meat and chicken. The starters were finished halfway. Later on in the evening they brought out some food that went to waste. We feel the hotel should refund us part of our monies. The DJ was excellent and gve us a great party but the hotel service is unacceptable

We booked our New Year’s Eve bash which was held yesterday @ The Lakes Hotel. I must tell you we had the most awful experience. (1) The bar counter service was ridiculous, the bar tenders & waiters did not have a cooking clue of what was happening. Took forever to order 2 bottles of Wine & still water. Had to look up prices (2) Eventually the DJ announced that food from the Buffet was to be served starting with Chicken giblets only. Not even half of the guests had managed to get any. Then the main course of which same took place. Once everyone that managed to get the left over scraps. No one collected the crockery from the tables. I gathered they were very under staffed. After all of this the bar virtually dried up I’m not sure if the catering was done by the Hotel or if it was outside caterers. Either way the function was held @ The Lakes Hotel I actually want a refund for the tickets that was purchased & if not I will post this on every social media site I can think of

I went to the hotel for a work conference. The food is terrible. They actually served dry spaghetti and dry mince and dry chicken for lunch. 😒 The service is also very poor. I ended up buying McDonald's that's how bad the food is. I don't recommend it at all. It's really unfortunate because it used to be a great hotel.

Unfortunately the function for new years in the big hall was very disappointing. Food ran out then when it was replenished the rice was burnt and food was not great. No salads and vegetables. There wasn’t even enough bread…. Coldrinks and drinks ran out before 11pm. Water leak in toilet and bad smell

Nice hotel, the vibe outside on the lake is outstanding. Never been to rooms, only for conference, but the food was great. We had issues with the microphones and it was a terrible experience

Attended new years party. Great location. Unfortunately leak in the passage cieling caused a very dangerous and slippery risk on the corridor. Very friendly staff!

They serve the best food well cooked I enjoyed their chicken beef and pork very fresh salads. The view is so beautiful the rooms as well are very clean and they'have good conference rooms.

Tough, nearly-inedible food, staff moving things around/between the buildings at 1am, brown water in the bathrooms, and as for the constant sound of traffic from the main road on the other bank of the lake... By all means have your conference there, but staying at the hotel is not recommended.

The conference package is shocking . Breakfast is literally 1 slice of bread with just tea and cofee, no juice no water. Tea time was worse each person got a small plate with a minnie samoosa and a chicken nugget again just tea and coffee no juice or muffins, yoooh the portioning of food is so fugal. Even in 3 star hotels the cheapest most basic package covers alot more.

The location is very nice, the room was just average. Well, they were renovating during my visit, maybe that why I couldn't experience much.

Too noisy for a hotel. I don't understand how they turned a restaurant to a shebeen. Its disgusting to say the least.

I'm not happy with place everything is frustrating the rooms the water is cold in some rooms no bar fridge and is not clean the food are not nice we are been serve as if we are children

The worst service you could receive is in this hotel the staff is not available after midnight, the aircon does not work in the coldest weather and the phones to call reception purposely do not operate from midnight when reception is not available

Beautiful space ,rooms near and waiters I would like to see more locals to give that what south Africans are known of being friendly it is missing ,at times you use local language they don't understand that is really a big turn off ,please that s missing please .

there were some glitches with the wiring in the room. And the carpet was very filthy even after it was hoved by housekeeping. They just need to scrub it with soap. Otherwise the staff is very punctual and friendly when you need something. Great staff guys thank you. The lake is a great attraction too.

My clothes were burned because they are using useless irons.

Standards are slowly going down, like to be history and it needs all concerned parties to make positive plan about this wonderful place.

Place is not Clean, food was burnt, but the chef did apologize for it but didn't improvise wouldn't host an event there

The customer service & staff was fantastic, the biggest let down for me was the toilets by the conference centre. They were absolutely filthy...the gents toilet anyway. To add to that, the paper towel dispenser wasn't refilled for the duration I was there for; I was there for a 3 day conference.

My Deaf learner's phone was stolen in my room while she left it in the charger at the time we went to play the national finals. We went to the games as we were hosted there during our winter national games. The cleaning ladies who cleaned my room 249 during the 11 - 16 July 2022, said they didn't see a phone when I surely was the last person leaving my room and made sure the phone was still there in the charger. When I came back and lodged a complaint, I was told that I must report to the police and my learners are the ones who stole the phone (at what time when I was with them at Benoni Northern grounds). Never leave your gudgets un attended at the Lake hotel and don't trust their cleaners. When I tried to seek for help I was told that it's not like some learners did not break a glass door at the hotel. So my learner's phone that was stolen was made as a justification why it is fine that it happened that her phone disappeared. The fact that there is no clouse and policy in place that protect the client against such negligence that could possibly occur, it is very alarming.

The place has so much potential and looks amazing outside but the staff and service is nothing to write home about.

Great place, everything is clean and the staff is amazing. But they could use a bit of an upgrade on their appliances, the radio wouldn't t play any stations and the TV had a piercing sound when the volume is turnt up. But everything else was good.

I was a guest of the hotel for about two months. The room was very dirty, eating in the room the crumbs were not cleaned for days and days .. the carpet was dingy and dark from dirt. On two occasions I have seen SCRABS in my room. The restaurant is closed during the week, so you have to arrange to eat and or ask for something of their choice to be prepared. Positive note, the hotel restaurant staff, very professional and helpful.

The place is a dump and below budget class. Rooms teribble, plugs was not working. In general rooms badly and very poor maintained. I will not recommend it to anybody.

The conference room was okay but the tables kept falling, and only guests would try to fix tables themselves, I won't talk about the food, I was in need of a sandwich but got muffins and not good taste, I was not impressed I could not take pics

This 1 star is not even worth it. From the tattered bed linen to the unruly and loud guests and hotel management was nowhere to be found. I would not recommend this is place for work stays let alone leisure.

This place is filthy! Maintenance poor. Bathroom light not working. Towels are dark so you cannot tell whether they are clean or dirty. Curtains filthy, not even hung properly so attention to detail big, small or otherwise is non existent. Pillow case discovered to the point of looking dirty. Place needs a lock of paint. Food...let me just stop here. Would not recommend this to anyone needs a revamp

Had a wonderful time. Very clean sheets and pillow slips. The staff were friendly and professional. The conference facilities were cleaned every day and the staff were very helpful with the electronic equipment. The views of the river are amazing from the dining area and the front section of the hotel. The security of the complex is top notch. The food was well prepared and tasty. On the whole a good stay. On the down side., the place needs a revamp. The following needs urgent attention: The carpets in the rooms needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. The curtains need to urgently be replaced. In the bathrooms the shower heads need replacing. Other that those problems I had a good stay. Good luck on your revamp. I would stay again, anytime.

What a terrible venue. They must have been busy renovating for the past 20years. The venue is NOT CLOSE TO READY for any guests, needless to say for conferences and events. Rather stay away from The Lakes Hotel - you will benefit much more than you think.

We were there for a conference. The food was very disappointing and not well prepared. The event felt disorganized and sonlme of the conference facilities had water damage. Its not terrible but also nit the best.
