🚇 Hoxton 🍺 £5.70 Pravha ❤️ A Hoxton pub with historic value. . The Macbeth is located towards the lower end of Hoxton Street in the heart of Hoxton. The nearest station is Hoxton overground, Old Street tube is also close by. . This place started life as a gin distillery early in the 19th century, if you look towards the top of the building you will see the words Hoxton Distillery built into the parapet. This pubs’s original name was The White Hart up, in 1978 it changed to the Macbeth and since then the name has seesawed between the two names. . The decor here is traditional with some contemporary twists. The absolute stand out feature is the mural of a scene from Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth, this Victorian tiled mural dates back to the 1880’s. This place is well worth a visit just to see this historic artwork alone. . The beer choice was very limited to just five keg options. The were lots of cocktail shakers on the bar and a multitude of spirits behind the jump which eludes to the clientele this pub is geared up to. I had a pint of Pravha which was a decent pint and under £6. . I arrived around 4pm on the Friday before Christmas and it was very quiet and I had the place to myself. I got chatting to the very nice chap behind the bar who was pottering around checking everything was in place for the evenings trade. The playlist here was indie classics, this was perforated now and again by a soundcheck going on by promoter’s who were prepping for an upcoming event. This place really comes to life in the evenings. . @themacbeth is not what you would call a traditional pub and markets itself as a music, arts and events pub. Would I recommend a visit here? 100% I would, this building is part of Hoxton’s history and has survived when so many pubs close by have closed their doors for good. If you’re planning a visit here I would recommend to visit early if you’re a traditionalist and later if you fancy music and cocktails. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 23/12/22

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This is a terrible venue. The staff are racist and in the process of attempting to book their venue for our brand event, the staff made comments such as " we know black people are always late" After the viewing on Sunday 23rd , we agreed to rent the venue but then on Monday 25th they texted us to say they're cancelling our event due to a client they've worked with in the past requesting the venue. Will never be booking here again.

I was so happy to see this iconic place finally re-opened! The new owners done a great job with the refurb, the place looks amazing! Their cocktails are spot on, really tasty classics with a twist and some signature cocktails as we well. My absolute favourite was the Yuzu Margarita. I will be returning for sure!

They just reopened and it's great! The staff is super friendly, the interior looks stylish and moody. They sell craft beers (Madri, Pravha etc.) and very tasty cocktails. I especially recommend the signature cocktail (The Macbeth). Def going back once in London.

We came here for an event and we were absolutely mesmerised by the customer service and the venue! Will definitely come back!

Just walked into this place and asked to use the toilet - it was 5.30pm so it was empty, not busy. The lady at the counter told me:"If you buy a beer we give you half price and you can use the toilet". I have to write an essay for the university, beer is not the right time, I said. "Oh... buy a bottle of water then" - she said that giggling with her partner..and said something else incomprehensible with mocking looks. I understand that the bathroom is for customers only, but I didn't like that attitude, and they looked quite unhappy to me. I felt like: I don't like the vibes here so l leave! London is full of greedy companies like these, simply obsessed with money and incapable of talking to people. London style. NB: I went to other places where they let me use the lou; I returned there as a customer due to the good impression and courtesy received. And places where they didn't but they weren't arrogant and mean like this one. Courtesy in London is a rarity. PS: If you take care of your business, you still sell something even when you don't sell anything: because it's yourself that you sell.

The Macbeth is a cool pub with decent live music in the evening. Comfortable tables, fast service, reasonable prices, and not overcrowded, which is perfect for this area. I will definitely come here again!)

An English pub/cocktail bar lots of live music, some of the best staff in London. The two ladies behind the bar so friendly it made me at home here. The drinks were good price , very clean glasses and served with a smile 😊 great music and live bands at weekends 💃🕺

I just had an amazing night out with my friends at The Macbeth. I was thrilled to see that the Macbeth is back open again, it's better than ever! I'm so happy the new owners managed to save this venue, I always loved! There were amazing bands, the drinks are very well priced and the atmosphere was great! I'm definitely coming back!

Terrible service and atmosphere. Staff have a terrible attitude. Wouldn't recommend at all.

I went on a Wednesday. There was a Kizomba dance class that my nieces participated in. Good class! I sat at the bar and watched while enjoying a few shots of whiskey. Had a great relaxing time. Very friendly group. Will visit again next time I'm in England.

They management are very weird and anti-Black. Would not recommend because they seem very racist and rude and like to harrass Black people.

A hidden gem in hoxton, great aesthetic, great music and the drinks are incredible! Bar staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable! Can't wait to come back for a big night out 😍

Found this place on a night out and was very surprised. The cocktails here are fantastic especially “ Letter of Indulgence.” The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable. Will be back here for sure.

The Hoxton bar is my favourite bar in London. I have never had such a good time in my life. Olesia is one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met.

Fabulous live music venue run by great people

Nothing special, nice lady at the entrance, polite security, the bar is awful, the ladies just ignore you all the times, I asked for a double Malibu, they didn't have it and the lady was not able at all to help me when I asked an alternative. She said: you need to tell me that I can't. So I have to look at all bottles a make a choice. The toilet was very dirty but the ladies at the wardrobe room were amazing, and the service very cheap and honest 1£, they deserve my stars.

A fresh new image under new management! This place needed a fixup from previous ownership and they have delivered. I highly recommend trying the signature cocktails on the menu! The staff are very welcoming and professional!

Since the new ownership/management has taken over the Macbeth has been transformed into easily one of the most enjoyable places to go out in Hoxton. The cocktails are INCREDIBLE, in terms of taste, creativity, and price you get so much value for what you pay. The venue itself is gorgeous. Would recommend to anyone, the atmosphere and vibes are wonderful. The daily happy hour deal, which is 2 for 1 cocktails from opening until 7pm, is also perfect for after work drinks! 10/10!!

More of a venue rather than a pub! Hosts a variety of events each week from live music to social meetings and gatherings. Bar serves a range of drinks, all bottled or poured, never seen anything on tap and it is expensive for the area. The interior is a wide open space, minimal seating and mostly wooden clad, but had a great atmosphere for whatever the occasion.

It's the best pub ever. I had a delightful time, especially on Wednesdays when they host open mic sessions. The atmosphere is truly magical. Many thanks to Olesia; she made my day better with a lovely conversation, and I enjoyed a delightful beer.
