Ordered smazak here today.. Cheese was not fresh and TOTALLY tasteless .. dry cold and tasteless fries, Never again! 🤢

Great place which disappointed me today. The food is amazing, prices are cheap and portions are huge. The interior is also interesting and the vibe is definitely local. But the service disappointed me a little bit today. The staff does not speak English. That would be okay, but waiters still were not very friendly and understanding when I was trying to speak my basic Czech. And I give 4 stars not because I don't like the place, but because I love it and wish to get better and better

You get really generous amount of food for a lunch here and basically at any time. Usually it's delicious and at the fair price. Plus you can eat as much soup as you want. Bon appetit

Great pork knee! 😊 Grilled steaks were also good, but a bit dry. They serve lunch menu all day long. Also great beer ( Polička ). 🍻🙏 Edit: I lovered my rating to 3 stars. They pasta is very bad ( overcooked, topped with cheap cheese)

There are several reasons why this place deserves 5 stars. Fast and friendly service. Big portions of food. Daily menu served all day. Fantastic beer. Mostly Czech homemade food is served here that will not make you leave hungry. The only downside is that the place is small and very busy so keep that in mind. They do not take reservations. Cash and card payments available. Don't miss out!

Really great place to get lunch. Food was always good and they cook until quite late and even have lunch menu during weekends. Beer is also good but even better is drafted cider. Edit: They no longer gave drafted cider :/

Today we ordered with Bolt and I was impressed by the quick service, the good fried chicken strips (felt like fresh chicken, no frozen) and the fried cheese. French Fries were nicely done. Is the second time that we ordered because the first time around 2 months ago was quite a bad experience, but I see that now is good and worth.

Good meals for affordable price. They serve u a big portions which I really like. I wouldn't be satisfied with 5 grams of meat and 3 fries. U won't be hungry.

It is a good place to visit for a meal. I like the wooden furniture. Food was delicious, if you order a meal, soup is for free. And the portions are really big! Here you can taste different kinds of beer from a local brewery. Service was fast and friendly.

If you are in a mood for proper Czech cuisine, this is s place you need to visit. Get fried cheese, one of the best in Brno. Wash it down with perfect Pilsner beer. The meal offer is extensive, you will find exactly what you need. Parking is not the best around here. You will need to find s spot in nearby streets. Or better, come by foot.

They have dropped the quality a lot lately. Ordered burger and the meat came completely raw. I understand medium rare but this was just raw mush. I'll give this restaurant one last try and if they fail again it's over for me.

Great and inexpensive place. Portions ale absolutely massive and filling, also they've got probably the best coleslav I ate ever. If it's not too hot then you need to eat inside since this place has got awesome atmosphere – one of the walls is dedicated to portraits of Austro–Hungarian emperors (I've recognised Franz Joseph and Charles I, this might explain the name "U Karla"). Overall this place has this retro-ish and authentic vibe, when you eat there you truly feel like eating in Czechia. Menu could use an English version though.

I have been so many times here, at always eat great. It is a pity that less and less Czech meals on the carte.

Hospoda U Karla is a staple between Brno's restaurants in terms of the quality of food and service staff, and during its entire operation I have not noticed any decline in quality, which we often encounter in other restaurants, which are top notch after opening and then the quality gradually decreases. . The restaurant has a stylish interior of the First Republic restaurant with a dominance of wood, which evokes a feeling of cozy sitting. I recommend a visit and I firmly believe that you will not be disappointed.

Place is okay, but the staff decided to charge us twice as much for a lemonade. Unfortunately, we have noticed it too late. Also, goulash from the menu of the day had like three small pieces of meat, which was disappointing.

Attention thieves. They add soup to the bill. I did not order the soup and they did not inform me in advance that it would be added. Funnily enough, the soup was not even there. Others had warned about this in previous reviews, but I found it hard to believe that customers were being blatantly cheated. Red card
