The Brno Dragon is a famous legend and symbol of the city of Brno, Czech Republic. According to legend, the dragon was a fearsome creature that once terrorized the citizens of the city, devouring livestock and even people. The people of Brno were afraid to confront the dragon, until a brave butcher named Bruncvík stepped forward to challenge the beast. Bruncvík was able to defeat the dragon using a combination of cunning and bravery. He used a trap to capture the dragon and then slayed it with his sword. In some versions of the legend, Bruncvík also tamed the dragon and used it as a mount. Today, the Brno Dragon is celebrated as a symbol of bravery and strength, and is featured prominently in the city's coat of arms. The dragon is also represented in various statues, sculptures, and other artworks throughout the city, and is a popular subject of local folklore and legend.

(Translated by Google) A preparation of a Nile crocodile, probably the oldest stuffed exhibit in Central Europe. The first mentions of the Brno Dragon appear as early as the 11th century, and we can find several different variants of the legend. For example, it was donated to the town hall by the Turkish sultan. Or that it was imported from the Crusades. There is also a rumor that a dragon lived in a cave by the river Svratka, threatening people and livestock, so a large reward was announced for its slaying.

(Translated by Google) Dragon of Brno. Why was it named dragon? There's a crocodile inside... (Original)

In the hallway under the tower of the Old Town Hall of Brno is hanging from the ceiling the Dragon that frightened the villagers. Although we see a dissected crocodile in it, legend has it that it really was a dragon.

(Translated by Google) In the building of the old town hall of Brno, in the Czech Republic, a stuffed crocodile is exposed that, apparently, was the protagonist of an episode that ended up being part of the history / legend of the city as The Dragon of Brno. a curiosity that is interesting to know. (Translated by Google) The legends are different. It is said that the Brno dragon, which can be found hanging near the Old Town Hall, was brought from an expedition by the crusaders, or that it was given to the town hall rulers by the Turkish sultan. The people of Brno themselves are convinced that no one brought the dragon, but that he once lived on the Svratka River, where he had his cave.

(Translated by Google) The Dragon of Brno is actually a crocodile hanging in one of the arcades. It is very spectacular, next to it we can find the Brno wheel. (Original) A brnoi sárkány valójában az egyik árkádban fellógatott krokodil. Nagyon látványos, mellette találjuk a brnoi kereket.
