Used to be great. Now not so much. This woman was super rude while I was in there and come to find out she was the new owner. Terrible. I will absolutely not be coming back here after years of loyalty. What a bummer.

Wow, this place has gone downhill. So sad what has become of what used to be a great local pet shop.

The lady there with the glasses really helped my baby kitten she told me exactly what I needed to do to & how to feed it help it use the bathroom and everything. She even gave me syringe so I can be able to feed it properly. This is my very first pet I’m taking care of alone & had no clue what to do. She even taught me how to make the food formula so it can eat properly, amongst other tips she gave me. You can tell they really care about animals & have no problem helping you, I love this place, it’s filled with love❤️ & thank you!

They didn't have any Oscars and wasn't sure when they would get some more. Other than that my visit was okay. I wanted to edit my review and give your store 5 stars. I was always a fan of the big aggressive fish I was looking for Oscars and left with Barb's. These Barb's are pretty cool. They are active and have nice colors and I enjoy watching them.Thanks for having healthy good looking fish. I'll be back to purchase some more.

Great service, very knowledgeable people!

My first time with a puppy and any pet store chains I go to I ask questions about food n toys but noone really helps. We stop in to this store and it was a relief.. I finally had someone stop n explain the difference on dog chews and toys and food. The lady was so very nice soft spoken and friendly.. she gave us a sample treats and I was even able to get a bowl of water for my fur baby I can't wait to go back . That will be the place we go for her food. The toys or teething treats have been a life saver. Lol glad we found this place. It's definitely a hidden gem .

They have decent quality fish. I used to go there a lot when I was a child and staff was best back then with old owner, Pete, who was the big guy, and an older lady who told me "patience is key" which will never leave my mind. The guy with the dreads gave me tons of knowledge about fish keeping. Right now I was looking at the reviews of the place and one stood out to me about the guy with the dreads. The owner responded to naturally kimmy that he retired, but that isnt true. The guy with the dreads and other older employees had told me a while back that he was fired. Even my dad agrees that the store has gone downhill in the recent years. I hope this store can improve on staff quality and prices because many of the items of the store are overpriced.

Service is amazing! All staff are knowledgeable and friendly! Parking is tight but definitely worth supporting this independent store!

My dogs are used to their good food from there now. They are healthy and much better off than when they ate other general brands. My dogs used to be picky with their dog food, but they can’t resist their food and treats here. The employees are also very nice and helpful. When I see my friends buying stuff for their pets, I usually suggest this place because it’s better in every way.

Healthy animals, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Warranties and prices may not be AS competitive as a chain pet store for ALL items but there are definitely great deals and their animals are so much healthier / better cared for. The prices for many accessory items and certain fish are actually a little lower than most chain stores. Amazing variety for a small store (also lots of beautiful uncommon fish and saltwater fish). I would definitely recommend you walk around and see what they have to offer.

Great option to shop local! My dog is OBSESSED with their ice cream, and they have all the essentials for a great price. Staff is always super super nice and friendly, and dote on my pup whenever I bring her with me. I’m a loyal customer !

Great local store with really knowledgeable and helpful staff! Have a new puppy and went in looking for training treats and chew toys to keep her busy, and left with a great assortment of stuff that has worked out really well! Definitely recommend.

I have been shopping here for nearly 5 years and the customer service is amazing. Plus on the occasion when I have my Pitbull with me the staff 🚿 him with treats.

I cannot begin to express how much I love this establishment. First off, they take amazing care of their bettas which is a sign of a store that genuinely cares about their fish. Bettas tend to be thrown to the side because it’s easier to keep them in cups but this place treats them with such respect and even gives them live plants. I actually dropped off a sick betta a while ago and asked them to try to revive her and they agreed! Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable about every issue under the sun, which is a talent. Fish are very complex creatures because you control every aspect of their environment and there aren’t any “fish vets” around here, which means you’re basically on your own. But these employees are so insanely helpful. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars here, and every single purchase was worth it. I’ve acquired my two favorite bettas ever, from this establishment. I personally believe that this place is a gem of oak park and is vital to our community.

Pretty good selection, all of their animals look very healthy and well-tended to. I was happy to see that their betta fish were in small tanks with live plants rather than just cups. I get frozen mice, crickets, superworms and dubia roaches there and they always have these in stock besides the dubia roaches which they get occasionally it seems (no biggie). The quality of their feeder mice are very high and they have lots of sizes it seems. The crickets are very large, die a bit quicker than I would like but that's pretty standard. Service here is usually friendly. They have a great variety of supplies and such for anything you might be caring for.

Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Quite a broad selection of stuff for us picky feeders of pets, wild birds, fish, etc. It is a great place for getting started with a home fish tank of any size.

Great saltwater selection and all the saltwater tank supplies you need also lots of coral amd they sell premixed saltwater for 7 dollars a gallon that's a great price compared to like petco at 16dollars a gallon

Nice selection, I like guppies, snails and shrimp, they had some nice black devil spike & rabbit snails and a few unique looking guppies. Priced fairly, there is even a tamale guy in there too!

I really like this place and I frequent it for frozen feeders but sometimes they don't have the ones I need so I don't feel like I can 100% rely on this location alone. But when they do have what I need they're really willing to work with us to get the exact down to the grams size we need. They're really nice people and they are always quick to help anyone in the shop.

The employee there was very helpful, and took time out to search for what I needed. There is a large selection of aquarium supplies and very reasonable prices.

Staff is knowledgeable of any fish keeping questions you may have. It is PACKED. Whatever it is you need you'll find it there (specifically fish related items). However, they do have supplies for your cat, dog, reptile or turtle.

I always bring my dog and they always give her treats! They are super friendly and helpful. Love this place!

Amazing I came in an hour before the store closed i thought I would receive some attitude but I actually received Amazing help i had a lot of questions and had them all answered along with some personal opinion by the staff just overall was a really nice and friendly experience i will definitely be coming back again and I recommend this store to all fish owners like experienced or new owners i recommend it to all fish owners

Great selection, friendly staff, and a well-enforced masking policy - this is one of my favorite small local businesses.

Went for the academy at night event that happens every Thursday from 6-10ish. The shows stop at 8 so get there early if you want to see the planetarium or rain forest shows. Overall an awesome experience viewing the aquarium and exhibits, all while sipping on an excellent cocktail and listening to music!

Friendly people and good service

Really sad to see this store has lost its touch. I use to come here a long time ago it was very well kept back then. Decided to stop in and saw how bad it is now. Dirty tanks not well maintained. Saw their coral selection was small and very overpriced considering most of their stick coral were dying melting and bleached. Not alot of selection. Not like it use to be. Very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it now. Reply: I wouldn't go back if you paid me....reading the reviews on here proves my point.

One of the best fish/ pet stores I've been to. The salt water manager Julian was a wealth of valuable information and knowledgeable about the fish and coral that live there. It was awesome to talk to him and watch him care for the tanks. This is now my new one stop shop for all my pets needs. Every pet owner should check then out.
