Coach Rufus has easily been the best coach I have had. His main goal is to better players both on and off the court. His passion for the game allows him to create an environment where each player can become successful. I recommend Rise Up so much because of the man who created it!!

Coach Rufus is always a joy to be around! He not only is a phenomenal Coach and skills trainer but is an incredible person as well. I think that the key to being a great coach is having a relationship with your players. He does a great job of getting to know each person he comes in contact with. My daughter’s experience with Coach Rufus was transformational in many ways as she developed rapidly under his tutelage. The consistency and rigor of his training sessions brought her to next level play. What is remarkable about Coach Rufus is his sincere love of the game and respect for his players. My daughter was particularly grateful for his willingness to see past her height and train her in all aspects of the game including ball handling and working the perimeter. At 6’2”, she was often pigeonholed by other coaches into a low post position that she was unenthusiastic about playing. Although he is a fierce competitor and demanding taskmaster, Coach Rufus was hyper observant and quick to complement players’ efforts to work on his directives and try new things. His kindness and encouragement delivered with sincerity motivated her in a way that 10 years of previous coaches had not. Not only did it elevate her basketball game and work ethic, it made her a more competitive teammate and confident young lady.

As a previous player of Coach Rufus I can say that he not only strives to be the best coach for his players, but he also has every single one of his players best interest at heart. He wants everyone to succeed and he will dedicate as much time as possible to make sure everyone has success on the court. He has an immense amount of knowledge about basketball and definitely uses that to his advantage. His skills training sessions work so that you can incorporate what you learn into a game. If you want someone who cares about your daughter and wants her to improve her skill Coach Rufus is your guy.

As a former player, it was always obvious to me that Coach Rufus was invested in us as individuals and players. He cares deeply for the sport and I could tell he wanted to see each and every one of us succeed and reach our full potential. One of the best coaches I’ve ever had, highly recommend.

Coach Rufus has been a great coach and mentor on and off the court. Aside from the helpful drills, skills and footwork, team bonding is very important to him for the players to build connections that show during games. He also really helped build my confidence on the court. I would not be the player I am now without his encouragement, expertise, and dedication.

The personal connection and investment Coach Rufus made in me was why I started shooting more, getting pool all star, and overall believing in myself. Building that relationship with him, we had a mutual trust in one another, as well as I felt comfortable asking questions and diving deeper into why I doubt myself. For these reasons every word of encouragement and advice that came from him meant so much more than other coaches, and that is why I was able to grow so much as a player and person under his coaching. The strengths of being a good listener and giving encouragement to help me and my teammates succeed greatly is what made Rise Up Women’s Basketball a great program.

Rise Up has done a phenomenal job developing my daughters bball skills and confidence. They take a different approach to training. It isn’t about playing games. It is focusing on individual skills and working those skills in controlled scenarios to ensure player development. The coaches also understand the importance of pushing the players to excel to ensure their confidence grows. This is critical to ensure the girls want to continue to be pushed. I highly recommend Rise Up for players who want to develop their game.

Coach Rufus is a serious and loving coach. He puts his whole heart and mind into coaching, expects the best for his team, and allows them to be the greatest players they can be. Coach Rufus coached me for three years in high school and has played a huge part in my development that has translated to me getting the opportunity to play in college. My confidence grew tremendously with him as my coach. He taught me many skills in practices that I was able to work on and apply in game settings. Those skills I continue to use to this day. He understands players strengths and weaknesses and dedicates a lot of his time to improving his players overall game. He only wants the best for you as a player and person.
