We'd
read
great
things
about
Spanky's
and
specifically
their
pizza.
We
planned
our
visit
for
Sunday
evening,
after
the
live
music
had
ended
at
5:30.
We
arrived
shortly
after
6
pm,
and
both
inside
and
out
were
quite
loud
and
moderately
crowded.
Two
recently
vacated
tables
inside
were
still
dirty,
but
shortly
after
we
sat
down,
someone
was
there
to
clean
up.
Despite
there
apparently
being
only
one
server
inside,
she
did
a
nice
job
checking
in
on
us.
Menu
is
QR
code
-
make
sure
to
check
the
board
near
the
front
entrance
for
today's
offerings/specials
(we
didn't
notice
it
until
we
left)
and
weren't
told
about
it.
There
are
no
drinks
on
the
QR
menu,
but
there
is
a
small
table
tent
of
summer
drinks
and
a
board
with
beer
taps.
We
ordered
the
duck
bacon
and
sweet
corn
wontons
to
start.
Despite
our
server
mentioning
the
kitchen
being
backed
up,
we
noticed
food
coming
out
with
regularity,
and
we
didn't
feel
we
had
to
wait
exceptionally
long.
Oddly,
they
didn't
provide
any
plates,
and
there
was
just
a
roll
of
paper
towels
on
the
table
along
with
a
caddie
of
individually
wrapped
plastic
utensils.
The
wontons
were
hot
and
tasty.
We
enjoyed
both
of
the
sauces.
When
our
pizza
arrived,
we
finally
asked
for
plates,
which
were
needed.
Sadly,
our
pizza
did
not
live
up
to
what
we'd
read.
First,
it
was
only
moderately
warm.
The
table
next
to
ours
had
their
pizza
come
out
hot
enough
that
you
could
see
steam
rising.
Our
toppings
were
constantly
falling
off,
and
we
seriously
wondered
if
we
needed
to
specify
cheese
as
it,
along
with
the
mushrooms
we'd
ordered,
seemed
nonexistent.
Sauce
was
either
too
sparse
to
taste
or
tasteless.
What
was
prevalent
was
burnt
corn
meal
under
the
pizza,
which
was
not
only
unpleasant
to
look
at
but
was
unpleasant
to
eat.
The
spicy
pepperoni
we'd
read
about
was
good,
and
the
crust
was
thin
and
crispy.
We
saw
lots
of
people
ordering
pizza
and
pizza
takeout,
but
our
experience
was
underwhelming.
