This statue is in the main downtown area. Not super big or tall statue. You may overlook or by pass it if you don't look or search for it carefully. This statue is located on walkway/sideways near the theater. I noticed few homeless people sitting right next to the statue. Google maps was able to help me locate the statue easily.

We drove almost 8 hours to see this statue! It's a great representation of such a wonderful man and actor. Barney Fife is always in my heart! Morgantown did well with this. Also see the Don Knott's section in the Morgantown History Museum!

Calling all fans of the great Don Knotts! This is a great detailed statue right in front of the Metropolitan Museum in Morgantown! Pull right up in the car, plenty of parking on the street to hop out and snap a pic! There is also a star on the ground and a placard on the wall talking about his life. Hope this helped! Happy Travels!!

Came here to look at the Don knotts statue that I had heard about I was hoping there would be more to it maybe in a better location for such a famous legend with his roots right here in West Virginia but with all that said if you're really interested in Barney fipes it's worth the drive and time so overall I would recommend

The Don Knotts Statue is easy to get to and parking is available in the area. Well worth the drive into town to view this iconic piece of history.

Jesse Don Knotts was a Morgantown native and began his performing career at the Metropolitan Theater where his statue is located. He did a tour In the Army where he started his comedy and ventriloquist role to entertain the troops. He has been in 35 movies, 70 TV shows, and the voice in a video game. In 2004 TV Guide listed him as 27 on its 50 greatest "TV Stars of All Time" list. Most people remember him as deputy Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith show.

Statue is nice. Great places to check out and grab a bite nearby but the amount of homeless people you are approached by in this area makes us avoid the it and keeps us from spending money down there. Sad because it is just down the road and most of the places are locally owned.

Don Knotts (1924-2006) is famous for his role as Deputy Sheriff "One Bullet" Barney Fife on the fabulous Andy Griffith Show. He earned -FIVE- Best Supporting Actor Emmy Awards for the role. He also played on Three's Company for five years. Don was born here in Morgantown, graduated from Morgantown High School and got his start as a ventriloquist at the Metropolitan Theater and this statue stands in front. Though it didn't take off and he joined the US Army and spent most of his time in the service entertaining troops. After his time in the army, he returned to West Virginia and attended WVU. He later moved to New York and broke into show business thanks to the connections he made in the military. He was eventually cast in the Andy Griffith show where he played the "nearly always wrong" Deputy Fife for eight years. This statue honors him. It was unveiled on July 23, 2016 in front of The Metropolitan Theatre. It depicts him sitting and holding his "deputy" hat in his hand. There is a star with his name on the sidewalk near his feet. There is street parking and it's easy to photograph. Thanks for the laughs and entertainment, Don! You're missed.

Don Knotts was one of the funniest actors in Hollywood. This wonderful statue at the Morgantown Metropolitan Theatre captures his likeness with warmth and humor. It's a beautiful tribute to him and his iconic character Deputy Barney Fife, from The Andy Griffith Show.

Not sure the statue is a good likeness of Don Knott's. At least not Barney from Andy Griffith show.

Growing up watching the Andy Griffith show we just had to find the Don Knotts statue and take pictures. We drove 6 hours to WV For a weeks vacation it was one of the things we had to do while we were here. Go take your pictures.
