Feedback Not Considered I walked in as a new member when the club first re-opened in November. Before I signed up, I noted their weekend hours were a little later for my schedule, but I was told there were plans to reevaluate weekend hours at the beginning of January. I checked in to revisit this issue at the end of the free trial that I was offered to see if anything had changed, because I (like any normal person) require a notice and heads up if I decided to switch back to my old gym. After being ignored three separate times attempting to contact the person who signed me up (2 emails and one note from her coworker), I went to speak to someone in person. I was told by a more senior position that there were in fact never any plans to reevaluate earlier weekend hours, because that's "how it's always been." The tone with which I was spoken to was like that of a child who was annoying their mom for extra candy - they treated me as a nuisance when I was simply attempting to get answers to very valid, easy questions and concerns. I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to treat you with respect, especially when you pay nearly 200$/month for the services. Just my hot take on the situation, though. In a last ditch effort to see if things could be salvaged, I met with the top manager, Fran, this morning. I attempted to show him this google review that I had not yet posted, to which he declined reading. We instead had a conversation where I voiced my concerns, asking if he could send out a feedback forum to current patrons. His response was "don't tell me how to run my business." It was after this interaction that I solidified my decision to end my membership. Since I'm already here, I may as well add all of my thoughts. The gym is lacking many pieces of equipment - a sentiment that employees have told me is shared by many of the members, not just myself. Random dumbbell weights missing, no long head rope for cable machines, no 5lb stack for cables, and much more. This place is marketed as a high end fitness club. It's more of a social club in my opinion. There are more places to sit than room on the fitness floor. In the mornings, machines still have weights on them that were never re-racked the previous day. One other thing to note is that the pool still hasn't been opened as of Dec 3. I am very disappointed with my experience at the Sporting Club so far. There is a lot of potential here for improvement, but my experience has been that no one is willing to consider feedback from patrons. I'm not sure what the point of having a soft opening with a free trial is if you're not going to accept constructive criticism.

Not a buttoned up operation. The low google reviews make sense and for what The Sporting Club is charging members this is totally unacceptable. First off let me mention the Front Desk staff and the manager I've been speaking with have been wonderful and very professional. Gym opened Nov 1st and called it a soft opening and boy did they mean it. Was told by Sales that everything would be functional Jan 1st. It is now Jan 10th and still various parts of gym not ready. The men's sauna is still not operational and I certainly understand things break but what is completely unacceptable is the lack of communication and the inability of the owner to provide a time frame when this will be resolved. This isn't planet fitness where I'm paying $10 a month , members are paying a lot of money for this gym but it currently run very poorly, get your acts together. It is astounding to me that takes 2+ months to fix a sauna.

I joined the Sporting Club at the Bellevue and left this awful, overpriced joke of an establishment within two weeks. The first week I was there, much of the equipment that they featured as "amenities" were broken and out of order. The steam rooms, sauna, hot tub were all enough to completely gross you out... when and if they were in working order. The equipment was run down and the locker room floors were filthy, as many other reviews on here confirm. During my first week, my bike that was securely locked to the bike rack inside the Bellevue Parking Garage, was stolen. Someone with bolt cutters walked in at 3:00PM in the afternoon on Broad St and cut my lock. I proceeded to ask the staff at the front desk if there were any security cameras, parking garage security... anything to help me with my situation. They claimed that there were cameras, but of course, no one ever followed up with me. I was completely brushed aside and my situation was left totally unaddressed. As I entered my second week, an adult male began stalking me around the gym. He followed me into the locker rooms and made a completely unwanted sexual advance towards me, which I immediately reported to the staff. I had finally hit my breaking point with this "luxurious, upscale" Sporting Club. I realized quickly that it was all smoke and mirrors and the staff truly didn't care about customer service. So, based on my set of circumstances and complaints, I requested the absurdly overpriced initiation fee back. The owner, Fran Cassidy, got on the phone and refused to reason whatsoever. He proceeded to call me a "spoiled millennial brat" and told me to "shut my mouth" when I asked what his response would be if I was a woman reporting a case of sexual harassment. He then cancelled my membership and told me that I'm not "not getting anything back" and hung up. This only lead me to believe that this place must be struggling pretty hard if my $300 something meant that much to this angry little man. Luckily, I filed a dispute with my credit card company and was able to get my money back (how you like me now, Fran?). Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place at all cost. It is overpriced, outdated, filthy, run down, and the staff could care less about you or your concerns. City Fitness just opened a new location on Market Street which is cheaper, newer, cleaner, and friendlier than the Bellevue. Wouldn't be surprised if this place becomes a parking garage soon.

The equipment they have invested in is BLOODY AMAZING! I look SOOOOOO forward to working out, it’s the best equipment I’ve used in all my life and I have gone to many gyms in a few countries. Truly amazing, I also love the lighting and the colors. It doesn’t matter what time I go, I can do my whole workout without any waiting on equipment or anything like that. Lockers are great and no locks necessary. I’m still learning all the new things they have going on. The staff are very friendly, unlike City Fitness where they are rather mean and I am so happy they finally reopened.

I read the google reviews before touring the new Sporting Club and had hoped for better. Weak weekend hours and frankly extremely overpriced for the lack of communication, poor management, and unhappy employees. Equipment room is nice but small considering the size of the rest of the gym. Unimpressed overall and think it will lose a lot of clients once the new Equinox opens later this year.

Beautiful place. But all the Pilate reformer group classes are booked. Impossible to get into. They need to offer more so that everyone can actually use the classes that we are paying for. Feeling a bit duped. Love the ice bath. And many of the details like toothbrushes

I went to tour the Sporting Club and decided not to sign up for a couple of reasons. The facility was beautiful, but after speaking with a few members and staff, the facility may have a lot of work to do. Some of the workers were hired as full time, but weren't given enough hours to support that. After speaking with current members, they had a few notable nuances such as classes being full at all times, weekend hours not early enough, and gym equipment not up to par. I can't support a business that doesn't ensure the care of their own employees first, let alone the wants of their customers.

As a former member of the Sporting Cluv, I had high expectations for their renovation. I'm happy to report they have not only met, but exceeded my expectations. The space is beautiful and well designed. I'm able to take short breaks and catch up on my emails and phone calls between my work out. The equipment is by far the best I've ever experienced and the facilities are clean and top notch. Can't wait to watch the full reopening including the pool. Keep up the great work.

The new restrictions and requirement that gyms close is very good, we need to prevent spread of Covid. And the manager of this gym speaking out against that is nothing but greed. I wouldn't support this place after the pandemic not with such irresponsible management.

This is an update to the review I wrote on another platform. In short, my review was that it was ridiculous for the gym to not allow access to facilities such as pools or basketball courts to anyone under 18 except during children’s hours. This affects guests of the nearby hotel. Anyway, this time during children’s hours, I find out that anyone under 18, even a 16 or 17 year old, needs an adult nearby to use the pool or basketball courts. Not to mention, 16 and 17 year olds are not even allowed to access the exercise equipment on the third floor. Out of all the hotels I have been to, I have never been denied access to the pool as a teenager. Furthermore, I need supervision to even go to the pool during children’s hours. When I go to the basketball court, most of it is occupied by people playing pickle ball. A suggestion would be to create separate times for people to play pickle ball and a separate time for people to play basketball. Back to my previous point, I would suggest that anyone over the age of 13 can use both the first and second floors of the sporting club at any of the opening hours and without adult supervision. Anyone over the age of 16 can use the first, second, and third floor without adult supervision. Lastly, anyone under the age of 13 can use the first and second floors with adult supervision. This would eliminate the need for “children’s hours” and allow the nearby hotel to be more like any other hotels. Judging by what others have wrote, it seems like the gym facilities are quite poorly maintained, though I have not seen the pool yet. The future of the sporting club seems bleak if changes are not implemented quickly.

came in for a trial, membership services was busy, asked front desk to give me a tour while one person in members service was helping another member, refused and asked to wait. My time is also valuable and bad customer service is unacceptable at any decent gym. I left, they lost a good potential client.

glorified planet fitness, if you deadlift more than 2 plates expect to be told to stop, even using the bumper plates and the platform.(why have bumper plates if you cant use them?) I've witnessed it on many occasions. For $110 a month and a $195 initiation fee i should be allowed to fling feces at the overweight trainers who are incorrectly teaching people incorrectly how to squat. Save your money and go somewhere cheaper. The smoothie bar they have is pretty good though, i recommend getting the java oat.

Ive worked there for year and a half. The most horrible gym you could ever attend. The gym is good itself but the management are so unorganized and do not know how to run a housekeeping job along with that they expect you to go far and beyond for 10.00 hourly with no chance of raises and they have you doing maintenance work as if nobody knows the difference between the work being giving out. would not recommend unless whole operations management is switched around!

This has to be the worst membership experience to date. When I was ready to start working out again after a year of cancer treatment and I decided to joined the gym at the Bellevue. A month later I broke my wrist. I called to freeze my membership and they said that I would need to send an email, but they weren't sure if they had the right address and to call back and check during the week. ... It bounced and long story short they wouldn't honor the freeze because I deleted the bounced email and I could not "prove it". Pretty hard to type an email left handed the week you break your wrist, let alone resend, recall and then loose 2 months of membership, plus pay the fees.... yikes! Ironically, it's customer appreciation week.

Dont join ! After a full year of membership there was no way I could continue. Main reasons: Old everything in the men's locker room (lockers, toilets, sinks, etc were all falling apart), old equipment (not one single piece of equipment was added in a full year! I dont need new stuff but when the same things were repeatedly breaking due to age its time to buy new), terrible communication (NUMEROUS times I showed up to workout just to see a "closed for the day" sign up on the ground floor with no prior notice. Along with terrible availability on days near the holiday ...ex 0500-1100), putting equipment away was not enforced (non stop battle trying to find cable attachments, barbells halfway across the gym, weights left on barbells), my membership went up five bucks a month after the first six months to "keep up with rising costs.: with NO improvements!!!!! etc etc etc. For a gym that is the most expensive in center city; you would expect quality. I became a founding member at City Fitness where its $30 cheaper per month, brand new equipment, much higher gym etiquette, better technology, etc. I wouldn't go back to Bellevue if it were free.

So I became a member four months ago with my new job. Awful facility. Today was the last straw. Tried the food for the first time. The guy running the food stand and it was covered in mold. Disgusting. Go to lifetime instead. It’s cheaper too

I used to go there on a day pass on many of my frequent visits to Philadelphia. I've just been told that when they reopen, day passes will not be available. The economic logic behind this decision eludes me (which is a polite way of saying: it makes no economic sense whatsoever, as a child of seven would be able to see clearly), and in any case it's quite a disappointment.

unfortunately I went against my better judgement and joined probably in 2018-2019ish. I only went for the suana/steam room do to a car accident i was in 2018. at 125$ month and still paying for parking, along with very unsanitary conditions I did what I had to do for myself using those 2 things. however that’s neither here nor there. my REAL ISSUE was when covid approached when not only was I charged for a WHOLE MONTH ON 2 DIFF occasions ( 1 time where the gym was closed the whole month and the other when it was closed a week or 2 into the month) and than the gym “temporarily closed” for a few MONTHS within a few days of that month. When I asked to be refunded 3 different times in person( women membership manager poss “ alex”) I was told “ we don’t do refunds here, we’ll credit you a month when we reopen in January” ( bc at that time that was when they were supposed to reopen. so not only did they take my 125$ and not refund it they were just Holding it until they POSS reopened.) After beating a dead horse and believing they would do the right thing , they never reopened so I was beat for 125$( whole month ) and another 125$ ( maybe 2 weeks of that month it was opened). sent several emails since asking for the refund or some type of correspondence and absolutely NO REPLY. now years later as their about to reopen, still no reply’s to any emails concerning my money or months paid for that I wasn’t able to use. actually really classless & unacceptable behavior along with robbing my $

I was there for a promotion $99 sign-up fee. They had some decent classes and there is a lot of space but I thought that there there wasn’t a lot of people there. I thought that it was kind of a sling in at times. Parking is always difficult so I always had to pay for parking when I was there. It was an OK Gym but for $100 month I thought that there could’ve been more classes.

Ordered delivery. After three hours of calling the phone number on record, which only ever went to a full voicemail box, I cancelled thru Grubhub. Utter incompetence. UPDATE: Apparently it’s actually a gym, and they’re offering food service thru Grubhub. It’s still terrible and to be avoided at all costs, but now it makes more sense why.

Best fitness club in the Philadelphia, hands down. The value for the cost of membership which includes luxury amenities, boutique- style fitness classes, and a state-of-the-art fitness floor, is unparalleled; not to mention the many other extras. Alex and her team have made the rejoining process seamless. The seasoned and helpful staff and a gorgeous, updated facility made it a no brainer to rejoin. It’s truly top tier. Glad to be back!

Was considering making the switch to this gym, however I am unimpressed. I am confused on the weekend hours, and wish they had more flexibility. I also was disappointed by the facility as it seemed equipment was missing and overall not on par with other luxury facilities.

I feel sorry for the investors. Has potential but awful sales department. This attempt to have an exclusive, snobby atmosphere hinders the possible revenue this gym can generate. I cringed when I left, since I was considering joining. Hopefully there will be more focus on a friendly inviting atmosphere.

I have been a member for many years and I love this club. It is very user-friendly -- staff are incredibly pleasant and go out of their way to be helpful. I only use the pool, but it is the only pool I know in the Phila. area that is Olympic size and kept at the proper temperature: other pools I've swum at are usually heated to about 86-90 degrees for arthritis patients -- but this is a lap-swimmer's pool. Sauna-whirlpool-steambath area is luxurious. Showers are fine, and lounge is great. I come about three-four times a week so this club is well worth the money for me -- my escape from the real world of work and worry. Plus you can suspend your membership and payment if you're going to be traveling for a month or two or three.

I toured the facility and had some concerns regarding the Sporting Club that were seemingly not able to be answered. The women's locker room was 1/3 the size of men's, the pool was still unfinished (yet full dues were to be charged), and some of my friends that go here stated most classes fill up too quickly. It's an esthetically pleasing facility, but not worth the price.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Joining was probably my best decision of 2023 and I cannot wait to continue in 2024! The facilities are impeccable, everyone is so nice and friendly, and the location is so convenient for me. The locker rooms and showers are always so clean, the staff is so attentive and kind, and I am always able to book the classes I want or reserve a squash court. They also had a holiday Happy Hour that was absolutely amazing, and I hope they will do more events like this. This is by far the nicest gym I’ve ever seen and I cannot say enough nice things about this place. I can only speak from my personal experience, however I think the facilities are very nice and I have had only the best interactions with staff members.

I have been a member of the Sporting Club for over 20yrs, I am very excited to be back. I feel like I grew up in this place. The changes are amazing, a great atmosphere and social vibe. This place has been a staple in my life through good and bad, this has been a place of consistency and peace. The relationship built have lasted forever, very grateful for that. With that being said, WELCOME BACK SPORTING CLUB AT THE BELLUEVE ! Feels good to be HOME !
