Had a great dinner with a friend during restaurant week. Cozy atmosphere. The drinks were great. Mussels were delicious but the bread was a bit stale. The arugula salad with peach was so simple yet an amazing combo.

Twisted Tail is an fantastic go to bar for any occasion. They have a great happy hour specials and fantastic food options. The Burger, wings, and sweet potato fries are always a go to for when I visit. There is often live music and the atmosphere is very smooth. Great lunch or drink spot.

Went for dinner last night and ordered the swordfish special which was delish. Everything was amazing from the drinks, dinner, to dessert. There was also live music which was very nice, chill blues vibes. Ambiance is chill and everyone was nice. We had the best waiter, ask for Nick! He’s spot on and goes above and beyond. He made sure everything was perfect and made dinner such a pleasure! It’s hard to find a restaurant that I don’t find one complaint and Twisted Tail was perfect for a Friday night out with a friend. Highly suggest! Oh and they take reservations too which makes it more convenient. My new favorite place! Can’t wait to go back!

The cozy wood interior, wooden bar and rustic decorations make you feel like you're in a comfy cabin. With a full whiskey, rye (the Old Potrero Rye is delicious) and scotch menu, and a variety of small and large plates, it's a perfect place for a date night. Some of the best dishes are the Spicy Big Eye Tuna Lettuce wraps (the fish and avocado make an amazingly creamy and melt-in-your-mouth bite) and the Gnocchi with mushrooms has an incredibly homey flavor. Update- The chef's tasting menu is a great deal and so much food. Very underrated

Tonight, I did a spin around the block to check out dinner at Twisted Tail and listen I was pleasantly surprised 🔥 Some of the best fried chicken and BBQ smoked ribs you can find in a restaurant right now in Philly -- y'all, I'm shook! ❤️ Definitely a vibe for the fall, and yes, that's a punch bowl for the table ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Upon entrance, you feel right at home with a classic neighnood pub ambiance. One of the attractions is a specialized extensive bourbon menu. Drink enough bourbon here, and you can join an exclusive club where you recieve a special letter etched glass to drink from every visit. Pictured is the "Kiss of a Dragon." At first you get the sweetness of the blood orange and then you get a "kiss" of spice from the ancho chili. Second drink I am told is a play off of a Fireman's Sour but I am going to call it the "The Christina Special." You have to see bartender Christina to have this made for you as it is not on the menu, and is her own creation. She knows I like spicy and this drink was super smooth at first and then had a spicy bite on the back of your tongue that satisfyingly lingered just long enough for this heat chaser. Extremely refreshing with every sip as good as the last! The drinks at Twisted Tail are beautifully crafted and executed, even non-bourbon drinkers will enjoy. I will inform that they offer a delicious upscale menu for everyone's pallet. The Twisted Tail has a scratch kitchen that is centralized around their charcoal grill. There is no shortage of complex and savory flavors in these dishes. Beyond great food and drinks, The Twisted Tail hosts many different special events, and has pleasant live blues playing most days of the week. Definitely check out their event page!

We came upon this place because of a dinner event we signed up for. Loved the exterior and interior. Started at the bar for a couple drinks (huge whiskey list, among other things). Then really enjoyed the food and wait staff for our dinner. Recommend it! And a nice area to take a stroll afterward (and get second dessert!).

My experience was marked by a personable and knowledgeable waiter who graciously provided insightful suggestions. Opting for the chef's tasting, the standout recommendations were the exquisite mushroom toast and delectable duck. Culminating the meal with the apple tart proved to be an excellent choice, adding a sweet crescendo to the overall gastronomic affair. The combination of attentive service and noteworthy culinary selections rendered this dining experience notably enjoyable. My only gripe was the original seating location, next to the window on an extremely cold day. We were able to move to a table further from the window; however, I would have expected for the hosts not to seat guests next to the window on a cold evening to maintain customer comfort. I would recommend this restaurant for a group outing and date night.

Great value for Restaurant Week in Philly Center City 2023! I came here with a friend and we left pretty full and satisfied! The meats were especially good as the short rib and steak were cooked and flavored very well. The wings and Crawfish macaroni and cheese were also highlights (and as someone who doesn't like seafood, I was pleasantly surprised with my enjoyment of the Crawfish Mac and cheese!)! One small disappointment I have is with the chorizo taco - the meat was a bit dry, and the sauce didn't help as much as I would've liked. Also, while the shishito peppers were good, we actually had too many which made it a bit difficult for me personally to get through the rest of the courses (I had to pack up my dessert because I was so full by the end! Other than these minor gripes, we were happy with the food, service, and overall atmosphere of Twisted Tail! There was even a live guartist who played towards the end of our stay which was a neat touch. Overall, I may come back to try some new dishes!

We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The beets were just incredible. The crawfish mac and cheese while lacking many pieces of crawfish was very tasty. The pork dish with spinich spatzle was lovely and creative. Loved getting the popcorn as an app. Tables could be bigger. It got a bit awkward At one point as the food is brought out when it is ready which loaded the small table.

I stopped by on a Friday at Happy Hour. Friendly greeting at the door and beautiful atmosphere especially if you like seeing your music heroes adorning the walls in a dark dining atmosphere. I recommend going for the atmosphere and drinks and im coming back to see a live performance sometime.

We came here for a restaurant week, it was a four-course menu for $40. I noticed the dishes in the first two courses were also available for happy hour (social menu on the website) and that might be a cheaper option if people just wanna try a taste of some of their dishes. Overall, we felt that the entrees were the best dishes of the night. We ordered the beets which were just a few pickled beets on top of yogurt...simple and not much depth in the flavor. The crawfish mac and cheese were good but nothing new, it was a safe dish. The salmon poke was our least favourite because the avocado tasted way too sour, I think they used a too much lemon to prevent the avocado from oxidizing and it overwhelmed the dish. The fried chicken and hanger steak which we both really enjoyed...the ricotta beignets were great as well! Parking was relatively easy and almost all were metered.

We visited The Twisted Tail earlier this week for the 2022 CCD Restaurant Week. Sadly, the experience did not match our expectations. To start with the positive, all of the staff I interfaced with were friendly. I received a call a few days prior to the reservation to confirm the details. The host and waiter were both very welcoming as well. The cocktails we ordered, the Black Cherry Gimlet and Honey Apple Sidecar were delicious. Really some of the better cocktails had in Philly recently. We were surprised to be delivered some complimentary popcorn to accompany the drinks while we waited for the food. As far as the ordered food, the crawfish mac & cheese ended up being our favorite. The cheese sauce was pretty good. Unfortunately, that’s about where the positive ends. For my four-course experience, I ordered heirloom beets, salmon wonton cups, fried chicken, and ricotta beignets. The wonton cups tasted extremely bland and the only memorable note from them was that the cups produced a comically loud crunch biting into them. I ended up adding other elements from our meal to my last cup to try to help it out. The fried chicken was the biggest disappointment for me. It was the reason I made the reservation and while the chicken was undeniably fried well with crispy skin and juicy meat, the flavor was completely absent. The chicken tasted unseasoned and lacking flavor. The hints of honey on the skin were good but overall extremely disappointing. The beignets didn’t fully hit the mark either and after seeing a peach galette on another plate, I wish I had gone in that direction. For my girlfriend’s four courses, she ordered the aftermentioned crawfish mac & cheese, the chorizo taco, braised short rib, and bourbon crepe cake. The chorizo taco was prepared much differently than both of us were expecting. It looked like a hotdog or sausage on a tortilla. While that alone wasn’t an issue, the taco itself was rather dry tasting even with the sauce and fresco added. It seems the taco was missing an element or two to add more freshness and juiciness to complete the experience. For the braised short rib, it was also anywhere from underseasoned to not seasoned at all. It amounted to just eating a giant slab of meat. Her dessert was not her favorite in taste and one minor note was that the menu read that it was served with raspberries but instead hers was delivered with blueberries. Overall, The Twisted Tail seemed to have strengths on the menu that maybe we missed. The drinks were very good which leads me to believe the brunch experience might be much better but I’m not in a hurry to find out.

Although I had previously planned to experience the Twisted Tail during their Dining in the Dark experience, those plans fell through. However, I did end up visiting just a few days later for an after work date night. We grabbed a table outside for our reservation at 5:45 pm, just in time to catch the end of happy hour. From the happy hour menu, I ordered the Crawford Mac & Cheese, the Smoked Wings and the white house wine. We received popcorn for the table while we waited which I thought was different. As I looked around the area, I noticed how quaint this nook of Center City was. It was very quiet and clean. The food arrived and I was excited to dig in. What I didn't expect was for the food to be as bland as it was. I really had high hopes for this. I decided to order the Swordfish from the dinner menu to supplement my disappointment which was actually quite good! I probably wouldn't come here again for the food but perhaps to enjoy the drinks and live music.

Loved the choice of complimentary popcorn instead of bread! We ordered the whipped ricotta, shishito peppers, grilled shrimp, mac n cheese, fried chicken, short rib, beignets, and brownie for restaurant week. We also had the bourbon apple cider, which was by far our favorite thing that night. The ricotta was also excellent. The food had good texture, but was a little bland overall. Still good, but nothing blew us away. The brownie was extremely disappointing if you were hoping for a dense, chewy brownie. If you like cake brownies, you might like it.

Great spot for cocktails in Society Hill. The vibe is very cozy. Had a mint julep and it was super tasty. Would recommend! The food looks great too but I haven’t eaten here in a while!

What a treat! This place is great for a date night! Their drinks are delicious and so is their food. Also really affordable and the atmosphere is very nice and cozy. Sitting outside is nice too. You get a little bit of the liveliness of South st while enjoying the weather. I have to go back!

Great place with indoor and outdoor sittings. Hope it stays that way. We were there for a Fever Dining in the Dark event. You get your 3 course dinner (meat, seafood or vegetarian) and eat in blindfolded. Very interesting! I couldn’t recognise the salmon dish. Embarrassing. But gave you better appreciation for all your senses.

Nice experience. The waiter was attentive and professional. The food is different, and I wish they had better side options and better appetizers, but the food was seasoned well and delicious. I had the crab cake and my husband had the salmon. I tried grilled octopus for the first time. I'm impressed. We would go back for sure.

My daughter had her wedding day brunch here. The upstairs room was the perfect size for 20 people. Each course of food served was delicious. The brulee french toast was amazing. My daughter is obsessed with the whipped ricotta appetizer, The ribs were very meaty and sauce on them was just right. The big eye tuna, which was a tartar style was also great. I cannot say enough about the service as well as they rolled out the food and balanced drink orders for 20 people. Thanks much, twisted tail!!

Very loud upstairs but it was an enjoyable experience with the live jazz on Friday night. The food was exquisite and highly recommend the chefs menu where you get to try most of the dishes. The dessert was an apple crumble with in house made ice cream!

Tried the lamb chops for appetizer, one was tough the other was on point. Then entree was the duck was a little tough, cold and dry..should of been warm, and a little greasy. Some parts were tough and some were edible..seems the temps were not evened out properly when cooking. Overall the sweet pea puree was decent and the blackend sauce was tasty with the duck. The greasy duck flavor and blackened sauce would of been excellent if it weren't for the off temperatures...waiter was very concerning not his fault.

We went for Dining in the dark. It was a fixed menu so I couldn't comment on the rest of the food. But we enjoyed ourself immensely . The dishes we had were creative and tasty. The wait staff was attentive.

Second time here and yet again a great time. Came for restaurant week with a fairly large party and it was a smooth dinner. The food and drinks are good! Get the drink flight for the full experience.

The atmosphere was really nice, they played live music while we were there upstairs which we heard but did not physically see. The food was pretty good, it wasn’t seasoned enough to my palate, my husband got the fried chicken and I got the duck and both were lacking in seasonings. The Mac & cheese and cornbread are absolutely amazing!! Won’t go wrong with those. I also had a flight of bourbon, whiskey, and beer and that was fabulous! Would definitely recommend going there for the drinks!

Great outdoor seating and exceptional wait staff. Best pork chops you'll be able to find anywhere. Vegetarian options are delicious, but rather small, so you might want to order two dishes. Also had one of the best cooked asparagus dishes of my life.

Really enjoyed the shrimp and grits, cornbread was amazing. The atmosphere was great and service was excellent. Would have given 5 stars but my friends steak didn't have any flavor. Was quickly replaced with another dish. Great job to all the workers

The Twisted Tail is always an amazing experience. The food is incredible. The staff is amazing. The music is perfect. The owner actually answers the emails. Not just anyone, the owner. To me that shows a lot of care in a business. I have been going to The Twisted Tail for 10 years and it is always a very fun and delicious experience. Thank you, Mr. Reilly.

1st time. Came up from Columbus. Helped a friend, Ruzz Evans and The Blues Revue Band, from England. Saturday June 10th 2023... I arrived a little after 5:00 p.m. Famished, hadn't eaten yet for the day. Up late night before with the band. I asked for a menu, and bam, there it was, Grilled Samon, Asparagus on Rice. I asked for a extra square of butter, and WOW.... It was an orgasm for the taste buds. The dish was the best, I've had in a decade of time....Superb... Staff was great. Friendly patrons, and on site Security outside was a plus... Had a fantastic time, can't wait to visit again...

Food was great and the bourbon selection was solid. There was a price difference of 50% for one drink that I ordered that changed the price from $16 per 2oz pour to $24. That’s a 50% increase and likely just a mistake in the menu. The server was quick to bring management in to correct it though so no issues!

Really liked this place. Great vibe in the bar with good beers and a nice, reasonably priced Whiskey selection. Went on 2 separate nights. Had the big cheese board both nights and duck and Arctic char for my entrees. All were excellent. Service was excellent too, but I deducted one star because 2 of my 20 person party got their food minutes before we had to leave and we were there well over an hour. To be fair, they prepare you for entrees coming out staggered and it was a huge, unannounced party. All in all, my new favorite place in Philly.

We enjoyed a Saturday jazz brunch and were so glad we went! The service was perfect - attentive but not smothering. The music was wonderful - spirited but no so loud that conversations were strained. The food was incredible! We started with steak tartar which was perfect. I am allergic to capers, so they remade the mustard sauce to accommodate my allergy - much appreciated! My husband’s biscuits & gravy topped with eggs was beautiful and tasty. My fried chicken and sweet potato steak fries were fantastic - some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had.

Been to Twisted Tail a few times and each visit has been fantastic. The bourbon and scotch menus in particular are very solid, with some inventive flights as well. The space is large and well decorated, with fun vibes throughout. Service is also fast and often makes great recommendations. Highly recommend!

We came here on a Tuesday for Restaurant Week. Overall, we were happy with our experience and the food. It was a nice cozy atmosphere with live music. I got the whipped ricotta, crawfish mac & cheese, salmon, and beignets. My favorites were the mac & cheese and the salmon. The mac & cheese wasn't overly heavy and cheesy. The fish was perfectly cooked. I would definitely come back.

Band, drinks, food and waiter was great, but for some reason the ladies room was freezing cold and no hot water. The W.O.M cocktail was really good and my friend loved the hot apple cider and brussel sprouts.
