5 stars for Macy's efforts to bring some holiday cheer to everyone during this trying time. 5 stars for the convenience of online returns with Customer Service personnel; they are swift, efficient, have plexiglass up, wear masks, and have signage for social distancing (albeit I wish they had a larger room for individuals to further distance themselves). 5 stars for continuing to put on the Macy's Christmas Lights Show - while I'm divided about current instructions advising people to stay in their homes as much as possible and limit in-person encounters, I appreciate their making the effort to lift our spirits. I also enjoy looking at the window decorations. It's been a challenging year for all businesses, but I'm delighted that this historic building can continue to operate and maintain its lovely huge organ and holiday traditions. Tips/Takeaways: -Easy returns at their customer service desk -Good COVID precautions maintenance -Support local -Currently on exhibit is a beautiful Christmas light display!

This Macy’s is in downtown and had 3 floors. Easy for drop off and pick up. I was able to find great deals as usual and the customer service was great. They have security posted up by the restrooms, guess they must have had lots of robberies in the past. Security had to put in a code in order for me to take care of business.

Beautiful modern era architecture with very high ceiling. But I’d stay on the first floor as displays, products, and services deteriorate when you go upstairs…

The Macy's in Philadelphia is the best one I've ever been to and I've been to the ones in larger cities. This site is the original John Wanamaker Department Store and has a working organ. Majestic high ceilings, the unique Grand Court Eagle, and other architectural elements make this a must-see place. This building would be over the top expensive if it were constructed today.

Hands down the most aesthetically pleasing Macy's that I have ever visited. This place was huge! There are multiple floors, giant columns, and a backstage area with tons of deals. The southside of the building has the makeup & cologne counters and a Locker Room section with basketball & Football team apparel. I was able to find some great deals despite the layout of the store being somewhat disorganized. There were some renovations underway during my visit, but nothing too major.

An amazing Christmas spectacular like none other in the area when it comes to department stores. I highly recommend shipping here versus the other Macy stores in the area. Not only because of the Christmas light show, but because the staff here are unbelievably some of the nicest Macy's employees I've ever met. They're so thoughtful, kind, and generous.

I didn't go in. I'm just reviewing the beautifully decorated windows for Christmas. The store was open till late, even on Christmas Eve. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

We stayed at a hotel across the street and enjoyed being the first customers when they unlocked the doors at 9am with City Hall towering gloriously nearby. The Wanamaker Building that houses Macy’s is stunningly beautiful with its cavernous ceilings and marble staircases. Decked out for the holidays, it was a pleasure seeing the decorations, giant lit tree, and Philly art all throughout the store.

This Macy's is huge. Has three floors with a giant active organ. During the holidays Macy's has their Christmas show. That's the busiest I've ever seen it here. Every other time I come it seems like an average department store. It is still pretty impressive inside though. Great for holiday shopping.

We came here on a Saturday to see the lobby Christmas light show and do a walk through viewing of the Dickens Village. We arrived at noontime and it was extremely crowded for both the light show and Dickens Village walk through viewing tour. I recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes before the show so you can get a good viewing area to watch the light show especially if you are bringing children. We had a wonderfully nostalgic time. ❤️ 💙 💜 💖

BEWARE The moisturizer I purchased here had been OPENED AND USED. Meaning, either someone at the store had done this, or someone returned it and no one checked before selling it again. Or they did check and made a conscious decision to try and sell it still. No words EDIT FROM 09/29/2023: was just at the store to get a new moisturizer. They tired to sell me the exact one I had returned a month ago. THE ONE IN THE OPENED CONTAINER (adding the picture)

I was in town for the weekend and this was part of a walking Christmas tour. What a beautiful building with so much history and the Charles Dickens London Village was something I wished we weren't rushed through by our guide. The architecture is stunning and only wished I had time to do a little Christmas shopping, Macy's has always been my favorite place to shop.

I got so lucky and walked in right when they were doing the Christmas organ and light show. It was beautiful. Times are 12pm and 530pm. You don't want to miss it. And I got cute slippers for 1.98$ in the backstage area on the 2nd floor! 🎁🎅🎄

Christmas light show and Dicken’s Village: great place for family and kids during Christmas time. A must stop during the Holidays. Make sure you check the schedule for the light show. Dicken’s Village is by reservation only. Admission is free. The Village is scenes from the Christmas Carol Story. A good walk through.

It was absolutely delightful to be doing some everyday shopping and hear that spectacular organ dive into the Overture to HMS Pinafore. The sound quality and the performance were first-rate, and the pep in my step from hearing a little Gilbert and Sullivan in my day was a major boost. Thanks, Macy's!

Today was just horrendous..I arrived around 3ish, 3rd floor (kids dept) searching for Clearance items.. 3rd grandchild needs 2T joggers, 4yr old grandghtr needs a Easter dress & I've gotta find something for the oldest grandson.... The selection for girls is always plentiful. Boys not so easy, finding just the right 2T bottoms started Out as a daunting task. You've Gotta do a bit of bending, stretching and reaching as nothing is where it should be other than for the Polo section(Ralph don't Play That). Anyhow its super competitive in th he Big boys section, the selection is super scarce for the cute stuff..Gloriously I found this camouflage hoody, 6 joggers & tha sea foam mermaid dress+ other girly separates for sale.. Worst my card declined and I was Guilty of holding up the line. The staff are overwhelmed, underpaid & most are unbothered. On this particular day, waiting in s 15 min line with this super pile of clothes, the cashier advises, there's no large or jumbo bags😳 like, shouldn't that be posted at the entrance, elevators, escalatorsv& bthrms? The whole store is absent of their usual bags....ooh pardon they're On backorder....so PLZ .. post Something to make the customer aware. The hoagie bag I was given was soo small..it was disrespectful 😒 when my card declined I thought it was Kismet. I wanted to walk away 😪 but 4 Tha kids, I used another card, paid, just before leaving the bldg..the bag rips!! I'm literally holding my bag like groceries...not safe, I took the elevator back to the 3rd floor, a/b to give it to Mgmt. A young lady most likely of mgmt advised me to buy a carry bag for a buck. Fast fwd, it wasn't offered because they too had ran out on the 3rd fl, she escorted me to the 2nd fl & awarded me a disposable large bag...I appreciated her compassion 💙 as I was Truly ready to ask for a complete refund. I was very tight a/b the shopping experience but left satisfied with my deep discounted purchases.

Nicest Macy's because of history on architecture. A little run down over the years, but hope someday soon it will return to it's former glory.

Customer service wasn't great. A man from the shoe department told me the price for the shoe when I just wanted the size. Insinuating that I couldn't afford it when I didn't even ask for the price. Another sales associate from backstage also gave me attitude when I was paying. And at last, when I wanted a bag since mine broke. I asked a lady for one, and she gave me an attitude, saying she doesn't give them she sells them. I didn't appreciate the way they treated me and my son there, and this is also my second time coming to this Macy's and most likely last time. Only one sales associate was very courteous to me, and that was when I paid in the plus size section. Please treat your customers better!

I don't shop at the Philadelphia Macy's because "if they don't have what I want, they will send me to a store that does." I shop at Macy's in Center City because they keep the spirit of Christmas alive with their Dicken's Village 'A Christmas Carol' and the Christmas light show. It's a Christmas tradition for me. I love shopping in this store as it is in a landmark building. The Great Hall and staircases are impressive and let's not forget the Wanamaker Organ. A must to hear!

So many happy memories here as a child but, it was Wanamaker. Unfortunately, not as well kept as it used to be but feeling nostalgic. Christmas had a different meaning when I would come here. Sit under the Eagle, watch the Christmas light show, listen to the organ, ride the monorail, wish for all the toys and visit Santa

Personal Styling with Stacy: I decided to book with the personal styling service recently because I really needed an updated wardrobe. In the past, my experience has been really lackluster—just sort of a short shopping trip and that’s it. Not so with Stacy! We met for a consultation about my wardrobe first, really figuring out why I was in need of personal styling and what I wanted my style to look like, and since have been working together to define my style within what I’ve already got and what I need. I love Stacy’s process and her attention to detail. She’s so great to work with and I’m so happy (and lucky) to have found her!

If you are in Philly downtown don’t miss this Macys store. Awesome interior high ceiling looks and decor draws your attention. They always play amazing music that reverbs around the hall. Clothing store is good, and also they have the children’s section on 3rd floor along with Toys R Us. They have the old style Christmas lighting which is very famous during December season. Overall wonderful experience.

Anne was very very helpful and kind. She helped me pick a great perfume and help me set up my Macy's card. She also gave us some complementary products for the purchase. Definitely recommend coming here and look for Anne. A very kind helpful lady in the store.

It's just a Macy's and was kind of empty of shoppers. However, the building itself is amazing architecture, and there was this fantastic organ that someone started playing suddenly. The acoustics of the building created a spectacular sound. I didn't even buy anything but would go back for that incredibly majestic cacophony.

Incredibly beautiful architecture wasted on a disappointing department store. I have lived two blocks away for over a decade. I’ve been here half a dozen of times in that time. And each time, I’m reminded why I don’t and shouldn’t come here more often. The service has always been horrendous, but did you know, for most of the items that might catch your eye, there are no price tags on the items? Did you know that you now have to carry the item around the department store looking for one of those barcode scanners to find out the price? I won’t even get into what the staff said when I asked them to help me with the prices. Worthless!

Sometimes in life you procrastinate on things you *really* shouldn't procrastinate on. One of those things is getting a fit for a friend's engagement party, especially when it's at a rooftop bar in NYC. I walked in the evening before the party not even knowing my shirt size. Turns out Macy's has dedicated stylists (no fee!) I worked with the wonderful Stacy H. who took walked the floor with me after taking my sizes, and carefully guided me towards a good looking outfit without stripping it of my own personal style. I ended up needing a sort of chic business casual style for this particular event but I'm confident she could help pick out anything. Would highly recommend Macy's for the stylist alone

You should visit this Macy's even if you are not interested in shopping. The architecture is amazing. The building is historic (Wanamaker Building). This Macy's also has the world's largest pipe organ. It's 100 plus years old. It's a block from City Hall and in the middle of everything.

  • 5/5 Jordan T. 11 months ago on Google
This is what a department store should be like. Not the same level of selection as Macy’s 34th street in NYC, but the amazing architecture and history of the building more than make up for it. One can still sense the Wanamaker spirit, and stand in the footsteps of a American presidents.

Popped into Macy's to meet the Eagle, see the Organ and buy my wife a gift. All very festive. Staff were a little sparce but the one that eventually served me was lovely.

What a nice experience here @ Macy*s Wanamaker. It was a little tough to get a hold of a representative right away, yet when I did they were so nice and friendly. I'll have to come back when I get more time 🙂⭐

Great department store in Center City Philly. Beautiful architecture (originally it was John Wanamaker's) and you must come see and hear the organ concert! Home to the world's largest playable organ they give 2 free concerts a day, except Sundays. Good selection of merchandise and you can get some good deals.
