Where do I even begin… this place is advertised as best Indian food in Boston 2018. It seems a lot has changed since then, to say the least. Lots of room for improvement. The chicken korma I ordered was mediocre as best and we were only given one rice for two meals. Waitress said it was two rices in one container… ok? Hard to believe, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. The garlic naan was really good, so no complaints there. We witnessed an angry customer on the phone with an employee and a couple next to us leave after not being served anything for over 15 minutes, which was kind of entertaining. The icing on the cake was when I noticed that a cockroach decided to join in on the fun dinner, which we believe to have come out of the basket of garlic naan I ordered. After we received a bland apology for it and nothing to compensate for the poor experience, we left without leaving a tip. It would have been a 3 star from me if there was no special guest, but bugs need to eat too, I suppose. The lack of empathy or care for a customer’s needs is very concerning especially for an Indian restaurant. I’m not from Boston but if I do return, it surely won’t be for Indian food.

I dined this week at Shanti with my fiancé and the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Aloo Tikki, Lamb Vindaloo (spicy), Garlic Naan and Chicken Tandoori. Be sure to order a Rupee Beer with your meal - crafted to pair with Indian, Spicy and World Cuisine plus, it's brewed down the street at Dorchester Brewing Company!

I come here about 3 to 4 times a year and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I HAVE A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE. I absolutely love this place. Everytime someone is looking for Indian Cuisine, I immediately send them here. The food is DELICIOUS, and affordable. The customer service is top notch. The garlic naan is to die for and it a every big size. Because I have been so much I have tasted there lamb, chicken and shrimp. I love the lamb so juicy tender and delicious. I also enjoy the chicken and shrimp just as much, it just depends on my mood. But all 3 you can count on to be VERY TASTY. The seats are kind of close to others but that does not bother me at all.

The food is delicious here. Over the years, it appears that the chef and management have changed from time to time. Dish preparation shifts a bit but is always good. This seems to be one of those times. The online reservation lacks fields for date and time, so better to phone them to book a table. The wines were limited to one red and one white. Our servers seemed quite new and not yet sure of themselves. That said, we all enjoyed our dinner very much. We expect the wrinkles will be ironed out as supply chains ease and servers settle into their roles.

Easily the best Indian food we've found in the Boston area. The chicken tikka masala was great, the garlic naan was beautiful (see photo), and the raita was the best I’ve ever had (both texture and taste). I know it’s weird to rave about a condiment, but it was truly fantastic. We’re house-hunting and I can say with all seriousness that this restaurant is a very strong argument in favor of buying in this area.

My wife and I had some of the best meat platter out of the tandoor, perfectly cooked and rightly flavored. The service and ambience were very good as well, definitely worth the time and money. We hope to be back soon.

This is the best tasting Indian food I had in a long time. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. I will drive 40 minutes to eat here.

Hot appetizer platter was 85% fried potatoes. Very strange. Besides that our meal was amazing. Lamb Vindaloo was delicious. Chicken Tikka masala amazing. Chicken Biryani super flavorful. Garlic Naan was super fresh and perfect. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. Prices are fair. Would visit again. Top notch experience.

First time getting delivery from Shanti. For dinner, this was the following: + Baingan bharta (spicy) + Lamb Bhuna (spicy) + Bhindi masala + Garlic Naan Was very impressed by the takeout bag, I like that it's reusable. Also enjoyed learning what made this restaurant stand out above the rest. With the food, holy dear mother of lord. This is not your "white level spicy," nope. It's your real Asian spicy, and it kicked my butt. Next time, I will get medium. Small thing, Bhindi Masala (orka veggie dish) was on the salty side. First time trying it, so I am curious to know if it's always the case? The Naan was superb! It was the best Naan I have ever had thus far. It was not burnt, dried, or cheaply made. It was soft, fluffy, and you can SEE actual pieces of garlic!! Game changer! Please keep up the great work and consistency!

My partner and I live down the street from your establishment in Dorchester. I just wanted to write and say thank you. Every time we have eaten at Shanti whether in house or take-out, the food and experience has been amazing. I had been trying to find great Indian Cuisine here in Boston with little success until we tried your restaurant. Everything we have tried has been perfect. Thank you for the kind attention to your dishes and the wonderful nature of your service staff. We love Shanti and will continue to keep coming and recommending our friends and family.

Chicken marsala was very good, ordered spicy and man was it spicy. Naan bread was maybe the best part. Samosas are huuuge, pakoras I liked even more. And the sauces they give you are so good, made the dish complete. Little pricey but worth it. Great spot for Indian food!

It was deliciously awesome. We went here for our durga pujo celebration. The people were very nice and served great food!! Good food and good time. The food is really spicy (spicy “spicy” in bengali style) if you ask them to make it spicy.

Good food for Dine Out Boston! Only reason it’s not five stars is because the people I was with didn’t like it at all, so opinion seems to vary a lot from person to person.

I ordered catering for an office Diwali party, and it was wonderful. The food was excellent, it was delivered on time, packaged well, and they paid a lot of attention to the details, like writing down which sauce goes with which dish, or small printed signs listing the details of each dish and sauce/chutney. The customer service was great, very helpful to help me decide on the dishes and get everything just right. Everything was delicious and all the guests loved it--Indian and non-Indian alike! I have not eaten at the restaurant but I highly recommend their cuisine!

Best authentic Indian food I've tasted, buffet style, eat in or take out ,with a variety of meats and massala vegetables dishes to choose from , and a delicious dessert to compliment your meal. This restaurant also carries a menu that you can order from making it a very unique place reasonably priced, and delivery service is also available.

The food was good. The service was good but they were very very busy and it took quite a while for our meal to come out. The lamb saag was very flavorful. I really liked the vindaloo. We got the starter platter which was very generous. The Indian salad was very simple pretty much just chunks of vegetables. I will be back for sure.

Best Indian food in the Boston area, and absolutely fantastic service. We've been eating here for years and still like it just as much as we first did. On top of that, they help out the local community. Search their owners, they've got some great efforts ongoing to "build pathways to economic autonomy for local residents," as the owners were quoted in a 2021 Dorchester Reporter article. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite Indian food in Boston - great flavors, always quality food, and plenty of spice if you ask for it. As a vegetarian, I love that the Indian cuisine has such flavorful veg food. The entrees usually last me 2-3 meals, and leftovers heat up well. Definitely get the garlic naan with whatever you order.

I've dined here a few times and have never had a bad experience. Food is delicious every time. They're usually pretty busy so there is sometimes a wait, but it's usually worth it.

Food here is amazing highly recommend but the service at the Dorchester location is horrible. After finishing our food and asking for the bill my friend and I were waiting for about 30 mins. Their delivery service was in the middle or the restaurant and at some point I had to get up and grab my own sides. Service could definitely work on it

I went here for dinner last Monday night. The place was packed with customers and had about a dozen food delivery drivers waiting for their orders. It was about 7:25 and I put my name down on the list for a table. The guy behind the counter said it would be about 20 mins. As I see the restaurant turn over, I could clearly see the focus was on fulfilling the high volume of delivery orders and the patrons inside the restaurant were a secondary priority. There were even 3 tables that were waiting to be cleaned which one of the parties waiting for a table ended up cleaning themselves. I kept asking the various employees on the status of my table and the response was “just a few more mins” finally, at 830 I asked the guy at the desk “how much longer - I’ve been waiting for an hour” and he had the audacity to tell me “we are closing soon, so to go orders only” I was appalled…I told him I had been waiting an hour and there were clearly a few tables that were sitting dirty waiting to be cleaned for the last 15 mins. I have my order ready and can put it in my order immediately. He didn’t care and asked me to order it “to go” or come back another time. WOW. Unfortunately customer service is DEAD and this place has lost a customer for life. I encourage you to try different options as this place doesn’t care for your patronage and prides itself on a lack of communication. Incredibly frustrating. To management, I’m not sure if this is a employee shortage issue or lack of customer empathy. Please fix if you want to survive in this market.

This is an overdue review - Shanti consistently serves great food, and we tend to get takeout twice a month. We are also enrolled in their "Culinary Tour of India Chef’s Tasting" monthly meal box, and they've been so delicious and a super fun way to learn about different cuisines with friends. Last time we came in to pick up, we saw that the interior had been updated as well, so looking forward to dining in soon.

Hands down one of the best Indian food in Boston. Everything I’ve tried at Shanti not only looks so appetizing, but also was beautifully seasoned, giving us such wholesome experience every time. Their samosa is must-have - crispy on the outside, hot and savory on the inside. We also love the butter chicken, and lamb tikka masal. I order from here at least once a week. Highly recommend.

This place has gone to dogs. The food used to be decent a few years back so I recommended it to bunch of friends after a long day outdoors when everyone wanted to eat good Indian food. We ordered 3 different gravies — one chicken and two vegetarian — and all were made with the same base (curry) so they tasted same and all were bad!! The naan was thick as Rubber.. only one of the appetizers (chicken) was decent. Would not recommend this next time.

I am vegetarian. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala. They sent me Chicken Tikka Masala instead. I didnt check it because I trusted a restaurant wouldn’t make such a blunder. I ate Chicken. The restuarant should respect a person’s religious beliefs. I contacted them. However, they haven’t called back to even apologize for their mistake. I would recommend this place at all.

Really delicious and reasonably priced Indian food. Great service in a nice setting. Some vegan options and tons of vegetarian ones. Would love it if their takeaway containers were sustainable!

The best Indian place out of the three main Indian place I've been to. The taste is unique, well mixed, and flavoring was not a cheap turnover of ingredients. Crisp and not oily. I had the Do Biezba Chicken. Price is a bit high at dinner. Did not try lunch menu. But their taste was very good

This place is my preferable place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I I need a good lunchon, this place comes straight to my mind. Great and many types of food and a rich menu.helpful staff, and agreeable ambience. Also, the price is reasonable. I tell about this restaurant with great pleasure.

One of our favorite date night spots! Such a great flavor and blend of spices, it never gets boring! And if you are like us and over-order, it's great as leftovers too.

We're a Shanti family now! We are new to Dorchester and have been trying to find an Indian take out place we like and we found it. Generous portions, great flavor, easy and polite delivery, AND they actually pay attention to how spicy you want your food. My husband loves spicy and I do not. My dish was perfect and so was his. Highly recommend.

Love this place! Today we tried the lunch buffet and it was amazing! The price was great too $11.95! Not bad at all! They had goat, chicken and tofu as meat out with some rice, naans and veggie options! Pretty good! Especially if you want to try some of the things on the menu without being committed and not like them and be stuck with it as your meal!

  • 1/5 Ifran b. 4 years ago on Google
It is impossible to find the food safety info on this place, the names are different even thought the owner is the same. I think there is something fishy going on, the chicken tikka was awful, it was like tomato soup with chicken cubes. The goat vindaloo was good but my rating is still one due to the name fraud and its very sketchy! Please avoid the place till its sorted out!

  • 5/5 Christine R. 4 years ago on Google
I just picked up my favorite Indian dishes from here. I have eaten here in a long time. I had the saag paneer, veggie samosa and garlic naan and oh yeah keer! Everything was great! The paneer was yummy and spicy with nice chunks of cheese. I ate it all before I realized I didn’t take a photo of the food (only my dessert)

My favorite Indian place in Boston. The personnel is very friendly and attentive, they are polite and nice. I love the menu they offer - I am vegetarian and they have plenty of choices for me. I also like their lunch buffet. They serve the best garlic naan in town, also its bigger and thicker than at other places that I’ve tried. They have a nice wines and Indian beers. I also order take out food, it always well packed and hot and never late.

Pathetic service! If you go here for lunch, and there are more than 5 customers, expect to wait about 5-10mins if they run out of food because thats when they start cooking the refills! Food is mediocre at best and it’s definitely not as good as some of the other Indian restaurants in Boston!

My cousin and I couldn’t figure out what to eat then I randomly brought it up to have Indian food. She told me that she had been here before so I said I’ve always wanted to try it. We agreed to go and boy was I so glad we went! I had the chicken tikka masala and she had the shrimp. We both had the garlic naan as well. Wow the food was amazing! The rice was so good which was a bit of a shock since I’m only used to one kind. Anyway, why have I waited to long to try this place???
