We had a lovely experience dining here for the first time. Alex, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly and had great recommendations. I had the best oysters I’ve ever had, the drinks were phenomenal, and the teeny tiny tuna tartare taco amuse-bouche was delectable. It was decorated beautifully for the holidays and the ambiance was charming. We look forward to going back soon and sharing the experience with friends.

Meritage is simply one of our top 3 favourite restaurants and/or Bars in the world. Having been fortunate enough to eat and drink at many lovely places in many countries, we just always compare them to Meritage in St Paul. Food is exquisite and the cocktails are spectacular. Thank you John, Alex and Justin for all of your cocktail advice. (our other favourite places would be the American Bar at the Savoy in London and The Buddha bar in Paris). Meritage holds such wonderful memories for us. My wife proposed to me there, we have taken our children, we ate there the night my wife went to hospital to have our baby and we drank Champagne with everyone else at the bar to celebrate. We have eaten there with many groups of friends and made friends there, we've eaten in the bar, in the dining room and outside. It's all wonderful. Meritage is one of those places that does everything right.

MN2022: Note: Service charge for using credit card🤔 Fantastic. A very stylish, classy restaurant. Great for date night with the Mrs, impressing your future in-laws or just the first date. It was nice to see young, middle-aged and seniors there with and without family. It looks like they have a few rooms for small parties. The wait staff was attentive and the food was scrumptious. I particularly enjoyed the French onion soup which I haven't had in a while. My wife was impressed with the salmon. There were no fails on any of the other dishes. The drinks were superb.

Excellent atmosphere! Food is easily the best in St. Paul or Minneapolis. As a long time resident you can't find better pork chop than here in the twin cities area. The pork chop was perfectly cooked. The fat was properly done as it had a crispness to it that was almost like bacon. And the sauce it was served with had a sweetness to it that perfectly paired with with the chop. The staff is also fantastic. If youre not familiar with a more french inspired menu they know exactly what you're gonna want. Honestly can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Who knew Minneapolis had such an incredible food scene. Meritage is a prime example of this by offering diners French-inspired classics, as well as sneakily tucking in unexpected twists like the Tiny Tiny Tuna tartar taco. This restaurant is a Minneapolis staple situated cozily within an old building. I sat at the oyster bar but was able to see the entire restaurant, which was packed with lots of folks on dates. For those who know me, they know I all but have a French fry eating disorder, and boy was I delighted by the cornucopia of fries presented to me with scrumptious béarnaise sauce. I selected all 4 “amusements”, think tiny bites, as well as the scrumptious and utterly tender Beef Tartare! The cocktail selection was robust and playful, and the bartenders are certainly experts in their craft, concocting pretty much anything you could ask for. If you’re looking for an adventure, don’t pass up the seasonal tasting menu, offering 6,9, and 12 course options.

We had the tasting menu tonight. Wow. Every course was fabulous, we had the wine pairing which added to the wow factor. Hannah was a professional, but personable server. She made a great meal a great experience. Thanks to everyone at Meritage tonight for making our anniversary fun.

We absolutely adore this place. Great service (just tell them if you're looking for a more intimate experience because people are at your table often). Always get the oysters! We got the beef tartare with home made chips and it was so good. In the winter sometimes they have a lobster bisque and it's a MUST!

If you are looking for a place to go all out to celebrate, for a special date night, or simply just because, Meritage is the way to go. The service was impeccable - the servers were very attentive to our needs & even switching out the ice in our seafood platter - and the food is simply beyond. It was an excellent experience from beginning to end.

Duck!!! Duck à la presse. Prepared, pressed, cooked, and carved table-side. What an experience. And to close the meal, a flaming baked Alaska. Not sure if they still do the duck meal, but regardless, a great place to try. Their steak frites is delicious, and so is their bread!

I have had numerous positive experiences there. Excellent service, really good food and beautiful ambiance. I especially enjoyed being able to sit outside last Fall with the heaters to hold onto the summer a little longer.

Great venue in St Paul for a wonderful meal and service. The Teeny Tiny Tuna Taco was an enjoyable bite, especially as someone who love tuna sashimi. The beef tartare was also great to start the course. We tried the steak, duck confit, and the striped bass dish but of the three, the former two were more enjoyable. Would recommend the opera for dessert!

The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Service is top notch. All staff were overly professional and friendly. The crab/guac app, and half chicken breast and NY strip entrees were phenomenal. Downtown St. Paul vibe is a tad rough, with many different characters, smells and sounds. Quite expensive. Great night overall! Definitely going back. Thanks for a great anniversary dinner.

The people were great! The environment was very nice and the food presentation beautiful. I received a very nice birthday card with a wine pour gift inside. Very thoughtful. Wine was good, coffee was warm, not hot. Food was so salty that some of it was inedible. Specifically, the potatoes on the fish and the vegetables paired with some of the plates. Every dish was way over salted, though. Even my 10yr old commented on how salty the food was. Would I go back? Probably. I'd just order the fries, like everyone else was doing.

Amazing service and food! I cannot stress how good the atmosphere was here, with brilliant decor, food, staff and sophistication. This is a must for anyone looking to book a special date night. It is pricey, but completely worth it. The dishes are all seasonal, which means that the ingredjants are all what is in season. Its amazing.

Beautiful atmosphere, wonderful service! Every single thing I put in my mouth was delightful. Highly recommended the oxtail strudel, it melts in your mouth!

Just good food expertly prepared with craft and creativity. …and service to die for. Intelligent bar with knowledge and attention to details. (Don’t tell anyone, but they allowed in in before opening to rest after a play and before opening.) The day prior they worked to find us a place in an already busy day. At dinner, we never felt rushed or hurried. The menu perfect for our fall overcast day. Raw oysters were labeled and our server told us a story about every type. The wine selection first rate without pretension. Both entrees arrived at perfect temperature and were some of our best ever. (We want to return for a tasting menu.) Meritage was above all a comfortable place with a local Saint Paul feel, but worthy as a destination restaurant. Yes we made a reservation for a future visit as we left. Kudos to all.

1st time back after the pandemic (10/25/23): really good foods, and dessert (the Creme Brulé is incredible). The service remains top notch. I forgot how loud this place is! The server offered to lower the music volume when we mentioned it. Pros: fantastic and attentive service thank you Katie E and our hostess), good French foods. The cappuccino came out lukewarm, and were remade. My cassoulet was good and the pomme frite is always a hit for me. My friend really enjoyed the French Onion soup. Could be improved: the salmon from my wife's salad tasted quite salty (was it brined?). Still, this is one of our place to go to when we crossed the river to StP.

Went here for our anniversary. They had a congratulations card waiting for us. The food was amazing as was the service.

Went out for Valentine's Day. We sat in the back Medoc Room (party room) because we added another person to our reservation and couldn't do the dining room area anymore. Our reservation was pushed up to 4 pm instead of 6 pm which was fine. This worked out great because we felt like we had the room mostly to ourselves for 2 hours. We tried the oysters and mussels which was wonderful. We also ordered the Chef's 5 course dinner for the rest of the evening. The courses were small and we were slightly disappointed. I think we paid for the service more than the food. Service was phenomenal. Total cost: $540, we tipped $60 = $600.

Had an exquisite experience here at Meritage. So many good options and variety in the menu and I’ll definitely go back to try their platters. I love the ambiance and the service too. Not too long of a wait and the staff asures us that we aren’t forgotten by giving us updates abt our table while we’re waiting at the bar. The cocktails are amazing! We tried 6 and everytime the drink arrives it just keeps getting better. It’s a very date night vibe kind of place but not awkward for non-date patrons as well.

Went here for 5-year wedding anniversary. Loved the 5-course tasting menu. Each course was delicious and much different than the last. Servers were professional but also laid back. 2 notes: 1. We asked specifically, and there was NOT an upcharge for credit cards (this was April 2023). 2. If you need to be out by a certain time, tell the server up front. We were in no hurry, so the time between courses added to the experience, but dinner took over 2 hours in total.
