WARNING- Read fully if you want to see how SLU (SSM Health) runs their Emergency Room 🗑️: We arrived at the new ER entrance about 10am. My fiance has been experiencing extreme abdominal pain that's been on and off for the last week w/o explanation. Blood was in his stool this morning so we decided to rush to the ER! Full disclosure, I haven't had to go the the ER in years thank God but in 2015 (broken leg), SLUs ER was horrendous leaving me in a lobby for almost 7 hours before setting my leg without medication or ice and the waiting room was literally packed!! Unfortunately, they haven't changed. After realizing the former ER entrance was blocked off, I called their number to ensure I was in the right location. Operator answers, I ask her for guidance, she laughs and transfers😮🤨🧐😡 then, the next operator answers socializing with somebody in the background barely able to correctly answer the phone. Are they serious!?! It sounded like a party line. I finally get the correct information from him though he had major attitude about having to get serious. Upon arriving, there were only 5 ppl in the waiting room. Due to Covid-19, they are only allowing patients, no visitors, in the waiting area.... Understandable. Calling my fiance's cell every 30 minutes to check on him, he indicated everyone had been helped ahead of him and he wanted to continue waiting b/c he was in too much pain (1pm). It is about to be 4pm and we decided we need to go to a hospital more urgent to help instead of making people wait (he literally only got his pulse and temperature checked..🤦🏾‍♀️). He told a random nurse ( he said most were standing around...) he was leaving to which she said he was going to be called in a minute....that was 20 minutes ago. UNLESS YOU WANT TO BLEED OUT OR DIE IN A LOBBY, I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! SERIOUSLY!! The shiny new building is exactly that and nothing more. Same trash service and trash experience. Seriously nothing good to say...... hopefully I can update this review since he wants to stay but I doubt it. **UPDATE: He walked out without so much as a glance. Smdh.

SSM, especially SLU hospital need to re consider their current visitation policy as it is posted today 6/30/2020. After such a long time being separated from our love one's SLU tells me that I can't visit my brother because he has already had 1 visitor for today. How insensitive is this! We have a big family! How can we all coordinate who we be his visitor on any given day, and what if another family or friend comes to visit before the planned visit occurs. What if a visitor comes in from out of State. Should they be penalized? SSM we can create a better policy than this immediately! Visiting hours stretch from early am to mid evenings. Let's increase this to at least 3 visitor's per day SSM! We have our masks on, and sanitize in and out. All your staff still see and visit us outside the hospital, as well as grocery shop and other things. Our love one's need our in person support. They have been isolated long enough. We can do better SSM!

This hospital says it promotes a "healing environment" and I completely beg to differ. They have screwed up so badly that my loved one has sat in the emergency room for almost 48 hours and needs to be given an ICU room. How is this okay? The charge nurse completely deflected our concerns, made excuses, and essentially told us to hurry up and wait. The ER has virtually no privacy. I knew exactly what brought people in around my loved one and things I didnt need to know about them because there are literally shower curtains dividing the "rooms" up. All I can say is that if my loved one deteriorates further, I will not hesitate to go all the way to the top on this one. There is no dignity, there is no care, and you're better off taking your chances anywhere but this poorly run hospital. I will say that the hospital staff below this charge nurse has been exceptional and doing their absolute best with what the system dictates to them. If I were them I would be tremendously embarrassed of the place they work for.

Every time I call SLU HOSPITAL to get transferred to my grandmothers room its an issue. The staff is very rude. I was put on hold for over 20 minutes and whenever I call back, the staff says that they're changing shifts....what does that have to do with being transferred to a specific room? Terrible customer service

I must start by saying at least my daughter is with us, that maybe due to her resilience and not the care she received from this poor excuse for a hospital. For over 48 hours she sat in an ER room and never got admitted to a regular room and moved up from the ER. She was just released and shoved out of the ER without a nurse. The care was rushed and we were never informed much of anything of what was going on and what our next step is. This hospital is at best a homeless shelter that hands out drugs and sandwiches to the local public that needs it, a noble gesture but should be reserved for the homeless shelters and not a major hospital. I will continue to complain about this, my daughter was treated with disrespect, a criminal in prison would receive better treatment than she did. Terrible hospital.

The ER is mediocre at best! How can they leave a cancer patient and immunization compromised, who needs medical attention waiting 4.5 hours in COVID-19 era without being seen?! Where is the sympathy and bedside manners? If it not urgent he wouldn’t needed to there, SAD!!!!

Well, they kept my relative alive. They at least provided a modicum of care, and were individually decent people. But that's about all the good I can say about the inpatient stay. The communication from the medical staff - from the surgeon through the floor staff- is practically non-existent. Even when it was raised to their attention, it didn't improve. In fact, I believe that raising concerns caused my relative's premature discharge without any communication to us about whether she was going to get the needed rehab following discharge. Even when the charge nurse did discharge, saying she would allow for questions after the discharge instructions, she hurried my relative out of the room without allowing questions and hung up on me. I suspect she thought she'd really pulled a coup with that stunt. They also engaged in rampant passing-the-buck. There is clearly no culture of accountability. It is like healthcare from the 70's. There were other incidents of poor clinical decision-making by the nursing staff that were counter-productive to my relative's best care, but it was impossible to get anyone to talk to me or get changes in place before they punted her out. My family has had good or great care in other facilities in the St. Louis area and other cities, but I cannot endorse anything about SLUH.

Terrible security and floor supervisor. They would not let a father stay with his 2 yr old child, who he has legal rights to, that almost died from drowning due to negligence under the mothers care. Kicked him out of the hospital for becoming upset and voicing his opinions about the messed up matter. They had even mentioned how they have a protocol in place for situations like this where the mother and father who are going through divorce and custody battle can have two hour increments and rotate their time with the child. The floor supervisor refused to do this for the father of a child who could have died due to the negligent mother. Of course the mother got to stay though 🤔 This place is a joke and obviously does not care about their pediatric patients best interest.

My daughter spent 2 days at Cardinal Glennon due to low blood sugar. Due to the fact they could not find a cause they decided to blame my child. How it was implied was very disrespectful, disgraceful and distasteful. I have never been so disgusted in my life with how the situation was treated. The nurses that attended to her were really great besides the one that decided when my daughter said her head hurt means that there was something going on in her head that wasn't good.

SLU is a great place to get good health care. It has wonderful staff, caring, professional, cheerful, courteous, always ready to assist patients. From the time you arrive til you leave your appointment is however short or long you decide; for patients who want to talk with their doctors, they are there to address any concerns about treatments, medications, etc. 10 ****

Pack a tablet or a good book, maybe war and peace. Its going to be a long ER wait. Anytime someones arm gets blown off its back to the bottom of the triage que.

Lack of communication between nurses and parents but they have no problem conversating with one another. They'd rather stand there and talk then help people get off the ER floor. Or in my case, ignore/forgotten about us and then I have to go and look for someone because no one came to my room for over an hour and a half. I understand other things are going on. But the section that I was placed in got quieter and yet we were still there. Second time this hospital or its associates have forgotten about us. Never again.

My daughter was hospitalized September 2021 for RSV. Although she received good treatment while hospitalized, my issue is with the billing dept. I never received any type of bills so I assumed I met my deductible and my insurance covered it. It wasn’t until I starting receiving letters from lawyers offices a year later stating that I was being sued. With some digging I was able to get a copy of the statement. It turns out that the hospital had the incorrect zip code for my address. It was wrong by 2 numbers being switched, so the bills were being sent to the wrong address the entire time. Now I’m having to miss work to attend a court hearing regarding the bill that should never have happened in the first place. This situation could’ve been completely avoided had the hospital had the correct information. This is unacceptable especially for a business.

Masks must be worn. When walking in, temperature is checked and given a sticker to let people know your good. After, your directed to one of three desks to get information about visit and another sticker... and then your on your way to your destination. We got there 30 minutes before and barely made it after all checked in upstairs. Dr. Cruz is great with kids in the Ophthalmology department. We go every other year and my son is a handful and he doesn't seem to care.

The hospital nurses and doctors are great. Based on the 10 months we spent here, they definitely could be more informative when a situation is not good news. The worst part of the entire place is the cafeteria, specifically the workers. Most of them are lazy and disinterested. I guess there are no standards here for customer service, because they are borderline rude or even actively annoyed that someone might order food. Also, there are clearly defined times when the cafe serves breakfast and lunch and so on. The employees have no problem telling you they're out of something 20 minutes before shutting down breakfast when, based on experience, I know for a fact they aren't, and that they could bring out more, but they don't want to have to do actual work.

My son was involved in a car accident and broke his arm. We were transferred to Cardinal Glennon after spending 3 hours in the previous hospital. They had to reset the bone. In order to do that they need to use a live X-ray machine and I was asked to leave due to radiation. I was led to a room about 40 ft away and was told they would let me know when it was over. They also told my son repeatedly that he would not feel it when the set the bone. I heard my son scream for 10 solid minutes. I waited after the screaming stopped for 40 minutes before I couldn’t take it anymore. Went back to his room and everyone was gone except my son. They forgot about me. I have never been more insulted in my life.

Took my 9 year old who woke up in the middle of the night in severe ear pain here. She had already been on antibiotics for 5 days for an ear infection and had no pain before tonight! Tylenol wasn't working. Waited 3 hours to be told her ear doesn't look that bad and to give the antibiotic more time to work. Also said Motrin works better so she can have that and to follow up with our regular Dr the next day? I'm pretty sure he didn't even listen to a word I said and just dismissed me with a "uh huh"! I'm sure that will be at least 1000.00 for 2 min of the drs time and a syringe of ibuprofen and another trip to our dr in the morning!

My recent experience at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital's Emergency Room was extremely disappointing. I had to bring my son in due to acute breathing issues, and the level of care we received was far from satisfactory. Firstly, upon my son's arrival by ambulance, I was denied access to him, leaving me feeling helpless during a medical emergency. Throughout our stay, there was a severe lack of communication regarding my son's condition and treatment plan, which added to our stress and confusion. The staff's attitudes were concerning, with instances of unprofessional behavior and a notable lack of empathy. The charge nurse displayed exceptionally rude behavior, further worsening our experience. I repeatedly requested copies of signed documents but never received them, which impacted my ability to make informed decisions about my son's care. Additionally, there was a severe lack of coordination in medical information, with redundant questioning and crucial information not being documented. A particularly inappropriate comment was made by an RN about the hospital's demographic focus, which raised concerns about equitable care. Lastly, the staff neglected to assist with medication administration, instead asking my non-verbal child to hold an oxygen mask, which was both unsafe and inappropriate given the urgency of the situation. Overall, my experience at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital's ER was marred by poor communication, unprofessional behavior, and a lack of attention to critical details. I hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously to ensure better care for future patients and their families.

This place truly saved my life. In July 2019, Mercy in Springfield found a giant brain aneurysm in my head and said it was too big for them to do anything about it. I was transferred to SLU where I met Saleem Abdulrauf. He is the president for nuero there and he and his team of nuerosurgeons planned a brain bypass surgery. It was an awake bypass surgery. They surgery took 12 hours and was a success. I was 27 when they found it and I was scared to death. They made me feel comfortable and confidant. Needless to say, I am thankful for this hospital and the members of the nuero team. Thank you.

Brought my baby in for rsv. Terrible experience all around. There was a delay at check in. My baby and I stood by the door and it was extremely cold this day. After initial checkin I waited patiently with my child waiting for our name to be called. While waiting, I watched the women who completes checkins be extremely rude and condescending to other women there with their children. One person came in from outside and explained that they had been sitting in the car waiting for the rest of their family to come out of the ER department. They needed to use the restroom. The first thing out of the employees mouth at the desk is, " YOU CAN'T STAY! ". Yikes. I think that person understood that, im assumming since they had previously been waiting in their vehicle. I watched 4 other mothers bring their child in and they were brung directly to a room in the back without any waiting room time. I inquired how they determined patient preference. I was told that if a pediatrician calls in for a patient they get serviced first. Per hospital policy. Not the fairest policy in my opinion. I'm a third time mom and has never heard any of my pediatricians recommend this. But okay, I could be wrong. After advocating for my child, they decided to finally check my baby vitals and bring us back to a room. Mind you, my baby has been whezzing this entire 2 hour period. So as a parent, I felt distressed. I would have to say customer service is at a zero. And the hospital policies are strict without true compassion for the people they are suppose to serve. My child was seen by an NP. She diagnosed my baby, suctioned my baby and told us good day. I waited in the room after the NP left a good thirty to forty-five minutes. No one came in and gave my discharge paperwork. I thought cardinal Glennon was a reputable place to bring your children when they are ill. This place is ran like clinic. The employees in the front are rude and minimize mothers concerns. Extremely disappointed in the service I received.

My son is a two time cancer survivor and we credit Costas Center and all the wonderful people there for saving his life. This review is for outpatient care. My son has chronic kidney disease that is supposed to be closely monitored through puberty because it’s progressing at an alarming rate. Cardinal Glennon has one of the best Nephrologist in the country and we couldn’t love Dr Beck more. However, thanks to the ridiculous way the appointment system is ran at Cardinal Glennon we can never get in at 3 months. They only do appointments 6 to 8 weeks out. So you have to keep calling back to try and get an appointment for when you need but they fill up so fast it rarely happens. Now we’ve reached a point where my son is being denied access to his doctor and medical care by that doctor because of administrative policy. It seems counter productive to me! There is no reason you shouldn’t be able to make your 3 month check up appointment before you leave. Instead I have to set alarms and keep calling and leaving messages and sitting on hold and never accomplishing much of anything. For two weeks I’ve been trying to make an appointment but still can’t. Absolutely ridiculous!

My son stayed in the NICU at Cardinal Glennon for 3-4weeks and still sees an endocrinologist there the doctors and nurses are amazing my issue is with the pharmacy. I called on a Monday and requested a refill of my sons medication be mailed they told me insurance wouldn’t cover it until the next day. On Tuesday(the next day)they called and confirmed shipping. I called up today which is the following Monday to check on the shipping status and was told they did not ship it but will overnight it so it will be here tomorrow. I am out of my sons medication and since it is compounded there the doctor had to send in a script for pills that I can crush up and put in his bottle. This is absolutely ridiculous and not at all okay. I am over 2 hours away so driving there is not an option. I am extremely disappointed and the pharmacy needs to do better.

I had major ankle surgery done on 09/22/20 I stayed two days after surgery in the Short stay Unit. My nurses Haley and William were amazing. I’ve never stayed at a hospital with such hospitality, they both went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and they met all my needs. Along with the other staff too. Always a friendly face. The doctors kept me well informed also.

Yesterday evening into 3 o'clock this morning was THE worst experience of my life at any emergency department. To be told my 8 year old definitely needs stitches due to a dog bite, to being questioned about his immunization status and having someone else come in and talk about tetanus and why he should get it, to them doing absolutely nothing at all, but starting him on an antibiotic. They didn't even clean the wound. All those hours wasted. I will NEVER go back to that hospital. Literally 6 hours!

I boasted about this hospital for so many years...the care and compassion we received each visit...so many nice employees but sadly the tone has changed drastically. Rarely any friendly, smiling staff, Everyone looks as if they HATE their jobs. HORRIBLE ATTITUDES in front entrance and most check in windows. The hospital has changed.....Most families that go here have medically fragile children...we all deserve better experiences here!

Thirteen months ago, I had a serious fall and was taken to St. Elizabeth's hospital in O'fallon Il. After running all of the scans and tests, a doctor said they wanted to send me to SLU in St. Louis. Not knowing any better, I went went along with it. It was the WORST decision that I could have made! They ran all of the tests over, despite being affiliated With St. E's. who had just done them. I was in a dirty cramped room and couldn't wait to get out the next day. We just received a bill for just shy of $4,000 after insurance. They had the audacity to charge $40,000 for an overnight stay. Please be warned! This is not overcharging, It is THEFT. I WILL NEVER EVER ALLOW MYSELF TO BE TAKEN THERE AGAIN!

Our child had outpatient surgery. The communication from the surgical staff prior to arriving was excellent. We knew exactly what we needed to do, and I was able to call ahead of time and have all of my questions answered. When we arrived, it was easy to find where we needed to go. Everyone was friendly and the whole process ran smoothly. We understand that with surgery, times cannot be exact and delays may occur. This was communicated to us ahead of time so that we could be prepared to wait. However, we were pleasantly surprised that everything ran as estimated. The nurses were friendly and interacted with my 2yo in a way that put her at ease. I loved getting to meet the anesthesiologist, the resident, and the attending surgeon. It put us at ease to meet the people caring for our child, allowed us to have questions answered, and showed respect and genuine concern for our family. The recovery nurse helped us to know who to call if we have questions/concerns and answered all of our questions. The whole process was smooth and as stress-free as possible. When it came to payment, we liked having an idea of approximate cost ahead of time, as well as a discount for paying in full. I already went on social media to share that we loved our experience, and if we need medical services again we will turn to Cardinal Glennon.

They have to go down to a 3 from a 5. They are extremely rude and disrespectful over the phone. Whoever the lady was she was rude, didn't want to help, and kept telling us we didn't know what we were talking about. So, we asked for her supervisor; and guess who found the information in 1.67 seconds. The supervisor then told her subordinate that she only had to type his name in and she would have found it They also had our son's birth date wrong, and were telling us that we were wrong and we didn't know when he was born.....like, really? Come on now. I don't know what's going on, but they have definitely gotten worse.

Erika at patient services was the most personable, professional, and helpful person I have seen in a hospital setting. I am scheduled for a surgery coming up to remove cancer and my anxiety has been through the roof since finding out. Erika truly helped my anxiety while getting me registered for all the testing that was scheduled on February 8th at the Tower Grove Family Lounge location. Erika went above and beyond her responsibilities to help me. I wish all hospitals had nothing but Erika's as employees.

Terrible communications. Was told I would be contacted. Never happened so I called repeatedly, leaving messages. My doctors office left multiple message. The one time I did get through to orthopedics, the call dropped. No one called back. When I called back, I got an answering machine again! Going to a different hospital.

Nice staff BUT they move soooooooooo slow it’s very ridiculous.. No matter what time of the year or hour of the day you walk in with your child you Must Prepare Yourself to wait for at least 2hours rather the capacity is small or busy…Then you see a doctor for 5 to 10 min just to leave. Given the emergency circumstances, everything was smooth sense the minute walking in. I trust all the doctors and nurses which is an amazing feeling in such a chaotic scary situation

I have been too many hospitals from Cedar Sinai to Barnes Jewish and without a doubt St.Louis University is the worst. It’s not the medical staff, which is superb, it the food, the cleanness and the administration. The food is barely edible. The hospital is dirty. I feel for the staff. It puts itself on the frontline of the Covid battle and the administration doesn’t care. Do not go to this hospital. You will not be be fed.

Mixed feelings. When my daughter was in the nicu, her nurse left her crib open for over half an hour until we got there. We saw it on the nicu camera. We called and told them and when we arrived, she was looking at lamps on her computer. I believe her name was Hretchen or something like that. It was still open when we got there. She blamed it on the radiologist but still didn’t have a reason why she didn’t come in after their visit. She could tell how upset we were and then tried to do everything for us which frustrated me. She would watch over me like a hawk when I was changing my daughter and wouldn’t stop commenting on anything and everything she could. Felt like she was trying to get a rise out of us by being overly ‘friendly’ after the incident. My husband and I were EXTREMELY angry. Once my daughter graduated from the nicu, she was given a great care team. We loved her psychologist, neurologist, and the staff. However, the wait can be insane at times. Her ophthalmologist took forever to see her so we ended up going through another service to get the answers that we were looking for regarding her vision. I mean, we waited over two hours to see her. It’s also kinda inconvenient that they schedule Nicu follow ups right smack dab in the middle of nap times. Later on, we had to take our little one to the ER for a seizure, her first one since the nicu, and the male nurse was extremely rude. Very hit or miss. Definitely advocate for yourself and little one when needed and don’t hesitate to mention how long you’ve been waiting. We understand sometimes they get called into emergencies, however a heads up by the staff would be nice.

We had to bring my 18 month old son here to have blood work drawn because the lab we were referred to could not successfully. The difference was amazing. First try and with minimal tears. If we need future blood work it is worth the drive.

We take my daughter here for her ophthalmology specialist. They have taken her from 'legally blind' to 'her vision is perfect besides the slight lazy eye'! We love them! The dr in training (not sure correct terminology) guy we saw yesterday was awesome! He put a sticker on his nose for my daughter to look at and almost walked out without raking it off hehe. The ladies there are all great too! So sweet! My daughter was really scared of the dilation drops but the lady made it so quick and painless that it was no big deal!

I had a reaction to my first covid vaccine. This is also the first time coming to SLU hospital, and it will definitely be my last. When I got to the hospital, one of the front desk employees was on her phone most of the time of me being there, and she went outside to argue with her boyfriend over the phone. Second, the front desk employee that was constantly on her phone eventually took me back to a room, which was dirty. She then took me bag to the lobby to wait until the room was cleaned and got back on her phone. After about 15 minutes she took back to the room and there was no bed in the room. She cursed out loud and ended up putting a bed in the room for me. Third, I had 2 different doctors come in my room and tell me 2 different treatment plans. I ended up getting a chest x-ray, before they asked if I was pregnant. After I had the x-ray done, right before I was leaving, they had me do a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn’t pregnant. I’m glad I wasn’t pregnant and they did an x-ray, possibly harming the baby. Fourth, the nurses uniforms look really sloppy and too big on them. The nurses don’t even say hi or bye. They act as if you are a bother to them. One of the nurses that was assisting in my room constantly left my patient chart open to the public, and never closed out of it when he’d walk out of the room. Fifth, when I went to go to the bathroom, there was dried up blood all over the floor. I understand that it’s a hospital, but the hospitality, cleanliness, and professionalism is horrible!!

My family suffered a tragic loss in a horrific car crash. My 10-year old niece was killed and her 8-year old brother and two other young boys were flown by helicopter to Cardinal Glennon with very serious injuries. The driver of the car was taken to SLU. Because of the circumstances and the number of children injured, there were about 15-20 people in the hospital waiting room mid-day on a Monday. After suffering such a horrific loss and being extremely concerned about the other children, the ER charge nurse told security our party was too large and would need to wait outside - even though there were plenty of seats in the waiting room. My family members, reeling from the day's trauma, tried to reason with him to let us stay and he was rude and treated us all terribly. I was absolutely appalled at the lack of compassion and the extreme rudeness. The medical staff were great, but the people dealing with us were absolutely terrible. I'd never recommend Cardinal Glennon to anyone because of it. I've never been treated like that at any hospital I've ever been to.

The staff is getting less training than before. Some nurses are so rude and not very professional. It was a very bad time we were going through, and we were hoping to get the help we were expecting.

We were transferred to Children's ER on Monday Night and were there for almost 5 hours and were NEVER seen and then literally told to leave when I asked what was going on. We were transferred to Cardinal Glennon Tuesday Night and had THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! They treated my son and I with respect, empathy and dignity. Everyone was so helpful and so kind! We were even taken back to our room within 10 minutes of walking in! The nurse and the resident physician were SO KIND and SO HELPFUL! I will only ever bring my children to Cardinal Glennon from this day forth! Thanks so much for helping my son feel better!!! You have no idea how thankful I am for your ER!!! Love, One exhausted, but thankful momma 💜💜💜💜💜

SSM Hospital has been My Go To Hospital for more than 20 years! I have never had any difficulties for service at this great hospital! Every thing from fever UDO to being treated for Bat bite, with precautionary series of shots, I have received nothing but exemplary service.

Dr desai and dr Taylor are both useless after the procedure. I have had complications and neither one of them would call. They kept saying that I needed to go to the ER for services. Two ERCP procedures and no call from the doctor afterwards. I hope someone at SLUH will read this and follow up with me. I can promise that if they show this to these doctors they will know who I am. I would have thought the care would have been better.

St. Louis hospitals are like gaint puzzles trying to constantly find a parking spot, where u won't get towed or yelled at by medical staff. They have an ER on the 2nd floor and it is the most unorganized mess I have ever seenswnd was a paramedic for Abbott many moons ago ... And Im still shocked the ER is Locked up no entry with out knowing someone or working there and the security guards at the bottom of the stairs can choose check ur discharge papers

My review is specifically for the cardiology department of Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Upon arrival for my son's appointment, we found out the referring doctor hadn't gotten the correct type of approval from our insurance. The woman at the front desk was really on top of things. She quickly made all the calls to get it done, and we still had our appointment on time. The office was very efficient with very little waiting. We were very pleased with their services.

Dr. P, and her cleft team are awesome people who are top tier in their field. The nurses rock! If your child is sick this is where they need to be. Wonderful staff, awesome cafeteria, very accomodating to family. Bad side of town, but as long as you stay on campus the alert and armed security will keep you safe. Excellent hospital.

The psychiatric floor of the hospital left a lot to be desired. Or I should say nurses on this floor. With the exception of this 60 something older white lady with white hair doing the night shift, and the male nurse as well as the charge nurse. I got a lot of callous rudeness from many of these nurses. I think a lot of people that go into nursing should re-evaluate their career choice and make sure they are the type of personality and temperament for the job. If there’s one job that requires some level of care at all or higher empathy it’s nurses as well as doctors... ...but yes, ESPECIALLY psych nurses. I think that should be priority number one over the secure employment and money, if that’s not you you should probably think of another venture when going to college. Some of these nurses took hours to respond to a request you asked for or had to be asked multiple times meanwhile they are gossiping and talking about petty unimportant things 90% of the time. They clearly were not all that overworked to justify the icyness they gave off if they had that much downtime on their hands to sit around and talk, arms crossed relaxing leaning on the walls. Didn’t seem busy to me I should say their tone was HIGHLY disrespectful this one woman, she wasn’t a nurse I don’t know what she would be called but wore a darker outfit was one of the ones who checked on you around the clock on her paper checking it off. Very big attitude almost always, just tossing towels at you why almost rolling her eyes and raising her voice at times. Did this also when asking only twice to change channel on the TV, I did not feel heard or safe when asked if I would contract for safety and when I asked for help multiple times I was met with a very clear state of annoyance and one or two of their faces. The doctors were fine, nowhere near as a good as the one I have on the outside. If only talking about the doctors I would give them 4/5 stars

I’m not even sure where to start. I was told when I had an emergency c section and my baby was being life flighted to Cardinal Glennon “ you’re baby is going to be in great hands the nurses and doctors are top notch “ my husband and I have encountered several of issues and the staff during my sons NICU care and after have written untrue statements in my sons charts. I have complained. Every appointment I’ve had to go to that includes them we end up being medically gaslighted. I’m beyond fed up with this hospital system. My son use to see just about every department and I’ve been slowly but surely switching him to Childrens where all of our concerns from day 1 have been heard and the team had been on it trying to figure it all out. We get questioned and my son inspected every appointment about why we switched. Neurology is our last step. We was told if we fed our son he might could see- turned out he has a type of blindness. Had nothing to do with his nutrition which we have a private nutritionist. We have been accused of starving our special needs son who’s had weight gain issues since birth even the hospital stay wasn’t successful with weight gain in the NICU. Was told my sons face is disfigured due to his Bain condition. Found out it’s not it’s due to the neglect he suffered in the NICU under their nurses care where we complained several times about him being left on that side for too long. I’ve listened to one of the doctors trying to find a reason to hotline us but couldn’t. I’m not sure what kind of operation this is but it’s not a safe one. We are involved with so many different people outside of Cardinal Glennon and they are flabbergasted at the amount of negativity and issues they have bestowed upon my family None of my children will ever see this hospital system again.

We just got access to our kids mychart. Severely disappointed that there were several notes about us being non compliant but not 1 of the horrible respiratory therapist who nearly choked the kid. If you take your kid here and a respiratory therapist named Carla enters leave. She will not check anything and if you mention it to the nursing staff they'll ignore it.

We just had an ER visit followed by a short stay. I cannot say enough about the entire staff at Cardinal Glennon. They were kind, caring, thorough, knowledgeable, and we felt like we were in the right place for this difficult time. A shout out to all the doctors and nurses that truly care about their patients.

I flew into SLUH from Illinois on a ventilator and ecmo due to having covid and this hospital helped save my life. The ICU nurses were amazing and did their best to be comforting and accommodating in these unruly times. Special mentions- Kimberly, Jessica. My OT and PT were amazing as well Sydney and I can’t remember the other womans name. Unfortunately as I left ICU and entered a regular room the care wasnt as top tier. I wasnt bathed for 4 days and left with an infection in my ecmo stitches and a yeast infection on my tummy. Other than my last couple days of care I had a very comfortable stay here.
