Great local establishment. Wide selection of ice cream and shakes. Yes boozy shakes too. Had the old time diner feel. A few shareable to choose from. The cheese bread was very good. I was disappointed to see they charged me $1 more for no whipped cream on my sundae.

5 stars for our ice cream and 3 stars for our food. Since we really came for the ice cream we’ll give it an over all 5 stars. We had the pickle soup and Cuban sandwich. The soup was good, not anything to write home about. The sandwich was meh, the meat was moist but the bottom bun was wet, like squishy soaking wet. Wish we would’ve just stuck with the ice cream. We got the Late Night Delight and OMG it was soooo good. Literally the best sundae I’ve ever had in my life. The two of us shared it and it was perfect size for us. Next time we are in the area we are definitely coming back for that dessert.

The few times I've picked up orders from here, I knew I wanted to come back and try it out-guess the hubby been catchin' on and surprised me! Not sure what the hostess' name is but she was nice and sat us in less than 3mins of arrival. I believe Abigail was our server and what a delight she was, especially bc of her attentiveness and the way she described the OFF MENU items as if she hand crafted them herself! We looked so confused at the menu bc the food options were slim, but I ordered the Dark&Stormy with the French Onion Roast Beef n't Mac and cheese while hubby had the Pomegranate Punch (which he has deemed the BEST martini he's EVER had in his life)paired with The Champion and soup...look, the only disappointment we had was the portion size cuz we wanted more smh😂! We'll definitely be back cuz I need to try a few of those martinis myself

Pretty neat place. Has both alcoholic beverages and dessert, which is the best of both worlds. I got the root beer float with vanilla ice cream. They make their own sodas so it was pretty unique. I enjoyed the atmosphere and would highly recommend to visit this area. Family friendly.

The Fountain was a great experience!!! I’m actually made at myself for not trying it sooner. Our server Abigail was the best. She walked us through the specials, kept our glasses full and introduced us to STL’s best kept secret, dill pickle soup. We had the flaming tomato tango as a starter, the prosperity panini and the dill pickle soup as a pick two, and then we capped things off with “The Gambler Sundae”. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a sundae, milkshake or cream martini randomly created by the team behind the bar, and it was well worth the gamble. I highly recommend stopping by for a date night or for a place to take out of town guests. Definitely one of Locust Street’s gems!

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. Per the menu, the Royal Grille has been " Named Best Grilled Cheese in Missouri" and a member of my party reported that it was the best grilled cheese sandwich that she has had in her entire life! Desserts were delicious. I would happily return whenever I find myself in the area.

This place is for real. Great food. Soups, sandwiches, pasta, and ice cream. Also don't forget theres adult ice cream cocktails. Not to mention they're mac and cheese is 11/10. Amazing fun place, with great food, and great service.

My partner and I went here while we were visiting St Louis for his birthday celebration and this was the perfect place to have tons of delicious, fun sweet treats and adult beverages to chose from. We loved our ice cream martinis!! I had the chocolate covered cherry and I can still taste it’s deliciousness. He had the dreamsicle (I think that’s it, with Orange sherbet) and was was excellent as well! I had the grilled cheese and he had the special and we were both very satisfied with our food. We will definitely be back when we return to St Louis!

The Fountain On Locust is a fun retro restaurant with a great vibe. I called to get put on a wait list and never received a text or call however I was seated within a few minutes of entering the restaurant. The service at the Fountain On Locust seemed a little slow and disorganized. The Dill Pickle Soup and Billy chips (Assuming I received them and not Kettle chips) were underwhelming. The Entree's were both good with the mini cones being a standout. 3.5 Dining in. 5.0 if going for Drinks/Desserts.

Came to this place to decompress after a long week and this place doesn’t disappoint. The bartenders were very friendly and very helpful with their menu. I tried the club sandwich and a side of veggie soup. Both were very good. Although, the root beer float wasn’t my favorite and that was on me. Since I have dairy intolerance, I chose the vanilla bean coconut ice cream and that didn’t go well with root beer. Lol I got the Red Zeppelin martini. That drink was definitely up my alley. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back.

The fountain on locust was amazing!! Friendly attentive staff and a warming atmosphere. We got the pick 2. My love got the Cuban and their soup of the day. I got a salad and a vegetarian soup. Both were delightful!! The kids got a grill cheese with chips. Ryan our server took really good care of us. Service with a smile!! I loved the chips!! 5 stars all day!! 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠

A friend recommended this spot because of its fun atmosphere. Parking was easy and we were seated right away. I had the pickle soup and the Signature Mixed Salad Sandwich. The soup was OK, the pickle flavor is more than I thought but I wanted to try it either way. The sandwich was cheesy and delicious. We didn't have much time so we didn't enjoy dessert. We'd come back to check out the dessert menu! Tim was our server and he did a great job!

I've been to this place before and what reminded me of it again now, is that I was assigned to do their DoorDash menu. so I wanted to see what I wrote in my review but I was surprised that I did not review them yet...so my first time there and what made me noticed that it existed was my UberEats/GrubHub menu photoshoot.(Which I just realized that not all photos were there) Everyone there was nice even though I was not a customer. The manager provided everything he could to make the shoot smooth. By the time I have done with my setup, the plates started coming my way. Each and ever single plate looked great, the presentation was really appealing. I cannot remember which one I tried but food tasted better than it looked. I shall update this review soon when I take care of their DoorDash Menu Photoshoot.

We came to The Fountain for a going-away lunch for a colleague and SO glad we did! Definitely need to make reservations because it gets busy, but the food is great, the menu offers something for everyone, and EVERYONE got ice cream after the meal! It made for a nice relaxed lunch and everyone kept saying how great the restaurant was afterward. One of my colleagues is already planning to go back with his family - his daughters are picky eaters and the kids menu has "some stuff my girls would actually eat at a reasonable price." I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Not an expansive menu and no kids menu but the food we got was tasty. The service was good. The ice cream shakes were excellent as to be expected. Definitely no complaints here. It’s not unreasonably priced for the quality. We would likely return if we were local. As traveling through we are glad we stopped.

Fantastic service and incredible food. Fresh and not greasy/heavy. Nice drink selection and the ice cream was AMAZING. Limited vegan options, but the limited options were incredibly tasty and would recommend!

We had a craving for something sweet. Since we were in Midtown, we thought it would be a great time to try The Fountain on Locust. I'm so happy we did. They have an extensive menu full of great options. You can have lunch or dinner with a drink and dessert. I had the Nutty Espresso which was espresso based ice cream with pecans, hot fudge and whipped cream. It was delectable. When we come next time, it will be for lunch or dinner. Can't wait to come back.

A really unique and special place. Can be pretty crowded on the weekends. Near Saint Louis University. Great food and great service. Try the pickle soup you’ll be surprised.

This is a great, cozy place to dine in St. Louis. The service is great and so is the food. I had the Pesto Chicken with a side St. Louis salad. The Pesto Chicken included two orange slices, which added a brightness that differed from the common lemon wedges. I also had a Stutz make your own sundae. The espresso bean ice cream was especially delicious and included little espresso beans. All was excellent!

visited on a Saturday night. had a 45min waitlist but texted us after about 20 minutes. lots of options for martinis and adult ice creams. handcrafted sodas(we tried blackberry very good!) great for women that don't really drink but want to feel a little buzz. I ordered "wicked" was very delicious, easy to drink. and could tell there was vodka in it. food was OK 6/10 but worth checking out for lunch. dessert menu had a $14 dessert that has been featured on The Food Network, we were too full to try but next time for sure

Fabulous spot for for drinks, dessert, and socializing. The food is splendid. I had the famous Adult Grilled Cheese and I’d have it again. The Fountain has a huge selection of unique and well crafted drinks; they also have all your traditional cocktails prepared by skilled mixologist.

Eclectic place for people of all ages to enjoy some good ice cream. The drink and ice cream menus is 10 pages long but the food menu is about half a page. We came here to eat not realizing and had a hard time deciding what to get. They didn’t have our first pic of entrees but what we settled on was ok. The drinks were good and strong. This place is worth a shot. Get there early or you’ll be standing in line outside!

The food here was so incredible. We both started with ice cream alcoholic cocktails. The nitro float and orange creamsicle martini were great. I ordered the chicken pesto and my husband did the roast beef melt. Both delicious. We finished with a custom sundae with vanilla ice cream, fudge and peanuts. I loved the soap hospital concept and the decor. I am only taking off one star because our waiter was rude. Other than that it was really good.

Sundaes were fantastic. Got the Bear claw and the Gambler. Gambler was well worth it! Would love to come back and try more. Staff is great and the decorations are a lot of fun.

This was my second time at fountain on locust. My friends and I had a nice time on national ice cream day. We loved not only the food but the ice cream. Our server was super nice, but i cant remember her name. I think she was a slu student. The only thing I would change was the timing of my friends ice cream. She ordered at the beginning of our meal and didn't get her ice cream until the end of our meal when we asked the staff where it was. My one friend and I ordered the mini cones after our meals for $1 and got those quicker than our one friend who ordered at the start of the meal. Overall great time and I would go back!

I've heard great things about The Fountain On Locust for several years and finally made it there in January and again in February. We arrived maybe just under an hour before closing and right before the kitchen closed. I enjoyed a bowl of soup and bites of others' ice cream (lactose intolerant ✋️). The food and ice cream were good, our server (who served my table on both visits) was helpful and attuned to our needs, and the wait was short. The most notable thing about the place is their ice cream martinis and the art deco decor, both of which are exceptional. The atmosphere was my favorite detail of my visit. The price of the ice cream martinis was appropriate and I enjoyed my overall visit. Though I did feel that my friends and family overhyped the place. I'll surely be back as it's a local favorite and a group I was out with went again in March, but turned away because the line was out the door and down the sidewalk.

Had a GREAT time at The Fountain this evening with my family! We took our Mawmaw out to celebrate her 51st wedding anniversary, and our waiter Andrew made sure the evening was absolutely PERFECT! We asked him to take a photo of us all together and he climbed up a LADDER to get the best angle possible. He really went above and beyond and that honestly took this from a 4-star review to a 5-star. Overall the food was good, but what really stood out was the fresh soda and the ice cream. All 6 of us loved everything we got, and we will definitely be going back! (Photos: My wife drinking a Grasshopper Martini, my wife with their World’s Smallest Ice Cream Cone, and the decor in the main room of the restaurant)

This is my new favorite place in St Louis! Alex is an excellent server and everything we tried on the menu was fantastic. The dill pickle soup was surprisingly delicious and really did pair well with the Cuban sandwich. For drinks I had the bees knees, love potion No. 9 and the espresso martini. Everything exceeded expectations and I very much look forward to going back I went back and it was just as amazing as the first time. This time Andrew was taking care of us and was so friendly and energetic. We started with a piping hot spinach and artichoke dip that was super creamy and cheesey. I had the birdseed salad with chicken and was pecking on that while I enjoyed four fabulous drinks. Still my favorite place in St Louis and I loved the Soap Hospital in the booth.

Nice atmosphere but we had to eat at the bar. We were told it was a 30 min weight for a table but multiple tables and booths were open. Food was good. My bread to meat ratio was WAY off. Horseradish tasted like mayo. No kick no bite! Waitress was great!

One of the best restaurants in St. Louis and one of my all-time favorites. I would characterize this as a MUST VISIT, if you are in the area. The soup and sandwiches are fresh and interesting. The ice cream sundaes are outstanding. If you are a mint ice cream fan, definitely try the mint. The prices are totally reasonable and the portions fair. Do NOT miss a visit to The Fountain. It has been around for over a decade for good reason.

First visit was last week on my birthday. Loved the atmosphere. The food was delicious and they have a mocktail menu for those that don't drink which was amazing!! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!!

Everything was so good! The food and ice creams were delicious other than there being a very bright greenish blue hair in my sundae. Which is the reason for anything less than 5 stars. They handled it properly, replaced it with a fresh one and apologized but it’s a pandemic and we should all be being far more careful. How did hair get in the ice cream anyways?
