Beautiful Victorian Home. Tour Guide Ginger was an amazing historian of the home and have a wonderfully nice personality. The home is well kept and clean, very much worth $10 dollars per person. Our tour last around an hour long as well. I contributed $50 to keep the home in tip top shape.

Gorgeous Victorian Mansion in St. Louis. It is the most complete Victorian Mansion in the U.S. with 90% of the furnishings and other items being to original to the home. It was decorated for Christmas and was beautiful. Lots of neat history here.

This is a national scale gem. The history of the average American making good. The Campbell story is worth hearing. The home is preserved from the last relative, as if they just walked out and left it for us. Mrs Campbell spent more on opulent decor for one room than was spent on purchasing the house. This is a fabulous view of the past. Best mansion tour I've seen. Highly recommend.

Update on 2023/09/22: Museum says that they sent the email before replying my review. However, I didn't receive any email so far. I checked my spam box but I still didn't see any. Please confirm you sent to the right email address. The house itself is beautiful and amazing, it definitely worth the time for a walk. However, this is the worst tour ever in my life time. We went there in the afternoon, the tour guide we had today is not doing his job. He is disrespectful, during the tour he is making phone calls or trying to find other workers in the museum. In my opinion, as a tour guide you should focus on your visitors unless some emergency happened. Every room we went he is just saying: oh, here is the kitchen of the house, and here is the bedroom. Of course we know is a kitchen, and bedroom! We have EYES! you should be telling us the story behind the scenes or the history or culture we should learn. However, the worse part came after he finally found someone to talk to in the museum. They asked us where we come from and said that we are all Chinese. Not every Asian is Chinese! We feel depressed and uncomfortable with the conversation. We wouldn't come back again since they don't think we understand any English and know how to appreciate the American culture.

Stellar house remaining from the mid-1800s - that is the only remnant of the gorgeous homes from the era from a time when this was where the "well-heeled" of St. Louis lived. One gets a guided tour that takes about an hour; you pay at the end. The people who run the tours are volunteers and passionate about what they do. For much of the 2nd half of the 19th century - this was THE place to be in town if you had money and were "in society". Because of some quirks to this family, as all the other fancy houses fell into disrepair and were demolished as the wealthy of St. Louis moved west, this one ended up getting preserved. 90%+ of the furniture is original! We saw nearly every room while learning about the family and the era.

An amazing mansion in downtown Saint Louis completely restored to period. So opulent with many original furnishings dont miss the carriage house ! This place is gorgeous! US Grant came to dinner there when he was president. Also I think very haunted...

Top flight historic home, rich in history and well maintained. The docent was well versed in the local history and the incredibly furniture and household wares. Exceptional. I rank it second best only after the Cupples House. Moderate admission charged.

Beautiful home furnished and decorated with originial furnishings! Guided tour was excellent. Worth the $10 per person fee. Check the website for times and days for tours. Has a nice gift shop at end of tour. Carriage House with carriages also included and garden area of home too. Absolutely stunning home!

Andy was a wonderful tour guide for our group and involved our antsy 6yo son by letting him do a few things throughout the home. We saw an advertisement for the Famous Barr Christmas exhibit and didn't realize this was mostly a full tour of the house when we came, but learned a lot of history and got to see the beautiful home. With that being said, the store exhibit was fairly lackluster and very disappointing compared to it's ad - it was mostly just a slideshow of pictures from year's past with only a few items in small glass displays.

Robert Campbell should be better known to fans of 19th century American history. Visit this estate on your next visit to St. Louis. ✌🏽

This is an unbelievable experience. The house, story, and furnishings are all restored and so unique. If visiting St. Louis, this should be a top attraction, along with the Arch, Zoo, Soulard, Lafayette Square, Forest Park, and Anheuser Busch Brewery. The tour is very reasonably priced and worth every penny.

Very interesting museum experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about every accept of the home and its contents. The social situation at the time of the building of the home and over the home’s early periods in Saint Louis was well explained. It was an excellent learning opportunity.

It is amazing how well this family home has been kept up. The home has the original furniture and all the fixtures from the 1950s. The best part is the history of the family was preserved.

Wow. Compare the photos of the Campbell house and the Scott Joplin house then visit each. Worlds apart. That being said, the Campbell house is an excellent representation of how the upper class lived in that era, and I was impressed with how well the house and contents have been maintained over the years. Kudos to the Campbell House Foundation for protecting this place and promoting its legacy.

(Translated by Google) Victorian style American dwellings. My mother liked it very much. There seems to be time for the tour, but we walked along the street waiting. It is a short tour but it seems to be enough for $ 10. If you like interiors, buildings or American times, this is the place to go.

This tour gave us a true picture of a Victorian home, ESPECIALLY since everything in the house is original AND there are so many well-preserved photos! Dennis, our docent is both passionate & extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the property.

We had two families, eight people total. I can’t write about the museum because we never got in. There was nowhere to park. -and we were not paying for parking when they have a parking lot right there. Anyway, it looks like guests from the hotel are parking in this parking lot! When we pulled in there were two cars that people were getting out of and they walked right over to the hotel. Not cool.

Such a unique place to visit if you’re in the area. Definitely a hidden gem of St. Louis. The tour guides are great- we had Samuel Monroe and he was so thorough and knowledgeable about everything! They also have the cutest little gift shop. Worth the visit if you’re in the area!

This was one of the most wonderful museums I've ever visited. What made it stand out is that the original Furnishings, as they were in the 1850s, had been restored. Even after the neighborhood declined, the Campbell house stayed in place because of the afflictions of one of the sons. There were photographs of the Interior so the restores knew exactly what to do and how the furniture was arranged. It was fascinating.

Our docent Maureen was a wealth of information and transported us back in time with her amazing stories about the house and the people that lived there. This historical landmark is a true gem and must-see for anyone that is interested in the history of St Louis!

Beautifully restored mansion in the middle of St. Louis. Has a rich history about a philanthropic family who did a lot of good things for the people of St. Louis and beyond. A true gem that everyone should visit at least once.

Way bigger and full of more history than the website let's on. I went as a "Something to do" activity, but was pleasantly surprised to be entertained for nearly 2 hours on the tour.

Always an enjoyable visit. An historic treasure in St. Louis there are a number of steps and stairs in this three-story pre-Victorian home. Immaculately restored with a nice gift shop (especially the books).

I love this place, especially at Christmas. It was beautifully decorated for the holiday. My 16 year old daughter even enjoyed the visit. I can't remember the name of the docent at the Christmas tree/kids entertainment floor (yes, the children had their own ENTIRE floor for when the kids had visitors! 😯) area but her stories we're absolutely mesmerising. Will for sure go back! Five stars for sure!!! ❤️
