Because the hotel has no security. They are using a staffing company to staff their hotel and both rooms that I rented were gone through by criminals. They stole the card I had intended to give the groom and his bride. In it was a check for them. Until they get a handle on this and beef up their security, DON'T STAY at this property. They also did not clean our rooms or empty the trash or give us fresh towels.

This is a beautiful property just off Washington in downtown St Louis. Tiny elevators that will just hold two people and the luggage trolley. Our room was large and looked just like the picture on the Google link. Everything in the room was functional. I was happy with the bed but my wife said it was too soft. The only complaints that I have was the view of the neighbors AC units and the fact that there was only one trashcan in the room. We ate breakfast in the hotel on both days we were there. It was delicious and not like typical hotel breakfast. The staff were very courteous and helpful at every turn.

We checked in Thursday night 8/17/2023 the first shock we received was the price of the valet nightly parking $48.00, the second surprise was that a vending machine is not located in the hotel to purchase bottle water or anything. Then we entered our room which is beautiful and comfortable. However, the TV did not work, they offered to change our room but by this time we had unpacked so we waited until morning for the repair. Breakfast totaled $70 for Pancakes, Bacon an Omelette and bottle of water. After an hour of trying to repair the TV a new one was brought into the room that one didn't work either so another was finally brought that worked. Housekeeping came so we left to run errands and came back to a super poorly cleaned room, I am attaching a picture. We still have two days to go can't wait to see what happens next. ***Update***The next morning Saturday, about 13 hours after posting my initial review, I received a call on my hotel room phone. I was told that my review had been read by the hotel and they offered me a discount on my stay and other amenities. Later that day while out visiting friends, I received a call on my cellphone from the hotel manager apologizing and checking to make sure everything was now okay. The hotels response was beyond my expectations and I very much appreciate the effort that was made to correct our first impression. I am increasing the service rating based on the response of the hotel management.

Myself, my daughters and dog chose this hotel to stay at for a few days while visiting St Louis. Hotel staff was AMAZING. Decided to do valet parking which was $44 a day once we arrived because I was told there was self parking down the street and they charged just as much so I figured I might as well do valet. There were extremely helpful. They helped with your bags, helping you in and out the car and also opened the doors for you. Front desk was very polite. I paid between $159-169 a night and was kind of disappointed once I saw what the rooms looked like. For those prices I should have been getting something way better. First thing I noticed, was the stain on the carpet once we got into the room. The furniture to me could have been way better. The bathroom was nothing cute. Old cloth shower curtain, there were cracks and paint chipping on the ceilings throughout the room, the bathtub was stained a bit, there was a separate sitting area to the bedroom but the bedroom doors had glass panels so there were no type of privacy if I wanted to shut the doors. I decided to eat down at the restaurant for dinner one night. The bartender/cook was very polite and helpful. I got chicken and fries. Chicken was good, fried were overly salty and drink was great! Overall I had a good stay, just feel the rooms needed a little work.

We paid the valet fee for parking, it’s a safe and easy option and everywhere else is at least 30. We just added the valet when we arrived. We had our dog and the staff ensured he was given plenty of treats and attention. The room was wonderful and the dinner options available near by were delicious.

Pleasant stay in downtown St Louis at the Magnolia. Booked a room for a work trip with my Titanium status and was upgraded to a one-BR King Suite. Room was spacious and comfortable, water pressure in the shower was perfect and the bed was not too soft. Lavazzo pod espresso machine in the room and a bottled water. They even wanted to run some complementary sparkling water up to the room. Overall very pleased. Had drinks in the lounge, strong drinks, good bartender. Valet was fast and efficient. Gym was functional with a mix of cardio equipment and weights. Would stay here again!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Magnolia hotel this past Tuesday. I was greeted by the beautiful Tia H. Who was very professional, polite, and helpful with where to get a good meal and drink. She was like my personal tour guide cause I've never been to St. Louis before. I didn't like the room I was first given it was in the back no natural lighting when I told Tia H. how I wasn't feeling it, she immediately changed me into a better room with better views, and I was so grateful I didn't bother her again for the night, lol. It's a pretty decent place to stay it's in the hurt of downtown, so everything was in walking distance no more than 10 minutes for good food and to see the arch of St.louis. I truly enjoyed myself and can see myself heading back in the near future 🙌🏿 my one only issue was the shower didn't switch into the tub so I had to use the shower to fill up the tub a bit of and inconvenience but I made it work for me.

The only staff that was nice and friendly were the men who open the door for you. Also the staff in Robie’s restaurant and bar. The valet parking is way too expensive. $48 per day. There is no other parking except the parking garage behind the hotel ($30). The cleanliness was lacking. I saw no one clean anything during my entire stay. The dirt that I seen in the hallways and elevators when I checked in was still there when I checked out. The only clean place was the restaurant. I won’t be coming back.

This was my third stay at this hotel. The first time was fantastic, the second time was decent and the third was just plain awful. At check-in, I had to request my free breakfast coupons. I'm glad I asked because they weren't given to me during the check-in process. The room was at the end of the hallway and was very dark. Two of the lights didn't work. There were stains on the carpet and a general dirtiness to the room. I understand that booking through a third party doesn't get the best rooms, however any room should be clean and not have issues. Upon check-out, I was charged for valet parking. I asked about it as I thought I had booked a package that included free valet parking. She confirmed it was not included. When I returned home, I checked my confirmation email and valet parking was supposed to be included in my package. I contacted Marriott and they forwarded to the hotel staff. We exchanged a few emails back and forth and I even provided them my confirmation email showing valet parking and free breakfast for two were included in my reservation. They still refused to refund the parking. I contacted my credit card company to initiate a dispute. A chargeback was completed with the hotel and I did get my money back. I don't recommend staying here unless you want a dirty room and a headache due to poor customer service.

The room itself is nice. Everything was very clean. It is small though. The elevators are small which is expected because it is an old hotel. The interior design is nice. The outside is a bad area. Homeless people were begging for money right outside the hotel and I was afraid to take my dog outside by myself. There were a group of women who came into the room next to us very late and were so loud all night long. I knocked on their door and nothing happened. Overall OK. I wouldn't come back or recommend it. There are other hotels you could go to.

I normally have a go to place I stay when I'm driving through St. Louis, but I (fortunately) stayed at the Magnolia hotel instead on my most recent trip (8/12-8/13) since my normal place hiked up it's prices recently. Magnolia hotel is beautiful, clean, original (doesn't feel like a chain), all the staff are friendly, and I can't state enough how positive my experience was. In particular, I'd like to shout out to William on the Valet team. I noted that I was leaving at 5am and he was able to park my car on the street in front of the hotel so I could get a timely start to complete a 24 hour drive. In other hotels, it is often a wait to get your car out, and this has caused me significant delay in other hotels when I have driven through St. Louis. However, William's thoughtfulness really helped me to get underway in time to reach my destination and was a mark of the excellent customer service I experienced. The front desk staff were super friendly and professional (even provided an extra treat for my dog). The bar tender was also fantastic. Not only did she make me a killer gin martini, she put it in a normal glass for me to transport it to my room so I wouldn't have to deal with a martini glass and its easy spills. The entire team is thoughtful, customer-centered, and always went the extra mile to provide a positive experience. In a world where customer service is disappearing, it is refreshing to stay at a place like this where you feel truly welcome. Also the rooms were beautiful, clean, and very comfortable for my stay. If you are considering staying here, do it!!

Historic hotel located right downtown. It has been nicely updated for the most part. We were put in a room right by the elevators initially, but upon asking they were able to change us to a room further down the hall. Our suite was nicely appointed with a walk through closet/bathroom and separate living room area. The bathroom faucet sprayed sideways a bit, and the shower pull didn't shut off the water to the spout completely, so it was gushing water into the tub while taking a shower. But these were minor maintenance issues. Room was pretty well insulated from outside noise as well. We stayed in the fall, and it was in the 40s at night. Each room is equipped with an in-room thermostat, but it doesn't really work because we were told that the way this hotel works is that the whole hotel has to switch over to heat, and that hadn't happened yet. So we were rather cold at night. This is probably my biggest issue with the overall stay experience. We tried the room service for breakfast, and it was $56 for two people, including a 25% service charge and $6 delivery charge. Had I read the fine print, we wouldn't have ordered. At least it was tasty. Other than that, service was generally friendly, particularly the bartender at the restaurant. Ooey Gooey butter cake was delicious, and made on-site.

We hated our stay. Super small shower, coffee maker churns out gross coffee. Our view was of air-conditioning units. The bed was uncomfortable horrible sleep. The food in Robies restaurant was ok....just ok. No selection to choose from and the prices where too high. Breakfast is not worth the amount charged and it was underwhelming. Other people in the hotel playing loud music without regard for others staying or sleeping. No vending machines. When we arrived, the young man at the front desk had the worst attitude. We waited almost 20mins to be checked in. The best part of our stay was VALET. Valet moved fast and were very courteous. I will never stay here again nor recommend anyone stay here. Please look at the pictures. Imagine waking up on the 17th floor and looking at air conditioners. Great view right. What a great way to celebrate your wedding Anniversary........

Very friendly staff, room was clean and stylish but furniture impractically uncomfortable. Nice place to stay for what it is but nothing life changing and for the price I’ll probably go elsewhere in the future

Remember to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking any room. This website will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I have been staying here for years. If you stay for a few nights you for sure won't be disappointed. First time visit. It was quiet, the service was impeccable, at an off season great price point. The in-house dining and bar was hospitable, and alluring. A great place to meet with friends. Very recommend.

Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at the historic Magnolia Hotel in downtown St. Louis, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. First and foremost, the staff at this hotel were truly charming and attentive. From the warm welcome at check-in to the helpful recommendations throughout my stay, their hospitality truly added a personal touch that made me feel valued as a guest. The rooms were not only comfortable but also exuded a sense of timeless elegance. The attention to detail in the decor, coupled with the modern amenities, created a perfect balance of old-world charm and contemporary comfort. I was able to relax and unwind in the cozy ambiance, which made my stay all the more enjoyable. The hotel's historic significance was beautifully preserved through its stunning decor. The ornate architecture, intricate detailing, and period-specific furnishings transported me to a bygone era, making my stay feel like a journey through time. It was truly a treat to experience the rich history and character of this 100+ year old establishment. Furthermore, the hotel's prime location in downtown St. Louis allowed for convenient exploration of the city's vibrant attractions and cultural landmarks. Being within walking distance of popular sites and dining options made it easy to immerse ourselves in the local atmosphere and experience the best that St. Louis has to offer. Overall, our stay at the Magnolia Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The charming staff, comfortable rooms, and beautiful decor created a memorable experience that I will cherish. I highly recommend this historic gem to anyone seeking a unique and enchanting stay in downtown St. Louis.

Great location, great rooms, great atmosphere, and service wasn't bad either, but on our visit we had ONE working elevator which created a lot of headaches for patrons all around. Hopefully they get that fixed for future visits.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were in town for a couple night of concerts. Rooms were clean and restaurant and bar downstairs was very good and even had great NA beverage choices for the folks with us that don't drink alcohol. Would def recommend and will stay at again if we visit STL again. Pool tables and shuffle board were added bonus too!

Lovely modern hotel with character. Both common areas and room felt homey but updated. Room was amazing, super spacious and comfortable with separate lounge area for couch/tv/desk. Parking is somewhat convenient, we used the parking garage on the street behind the hotel. Super dog friendly as well, they gave us dog treats and a list of dog-friendly locations in the city.

Can’t say enough of the great experience. Came in with no booking on my bike, was instantly helped. All hotel is gorgeous. Lobby is beautiful, rooms are great, bed was comfy, staff were attentive - helpful and location is just amazing.

I most definitely do not recommend this hotel. The room was old and creepy. What appeared to be a 3 or 4 foot wall vent was halfway attached to the wall. The light fixtures in bathroom had about 2in opening around them. It was enough space for me to see wires and ceiling. Creepy air vents are located in direct view of bed. Sofa had strange stains. Turning on shower was a challenge. Valet parking is the only option and it's $48. Upon arrival there weren't any luggage carts available, so I had to carry everything.. I checked out the room shortly after checking in due to not feeling safe. There were no cameras in hallway my room was on 🫤.

Our first stay. We were greeted by Xavier at the check in desk, very nice young man, explained everything to us, bar hours, ice machine etc. We went to our room on 5th floor, drooped our bags and back down to park the car. Spoke to valet guy and he told us we could not park across the street, we stepped out of the hotel and Xavier came out and informed us about the parking garage, and how to get to the stadium. After the game and back into the hotel, Xavier greeted us again. Thursday AM upon check out, he walked us to a door, closed to the garage. This young man wr felt like went above and beyond his duties to make us feel welcome. As for the room, bed and pillows were SO comfortable, room very clean, however bathroom was a little on the small side. We will definitely stay again.

This is in a relatively good location, within walking distance of the Arch. I received an accessible room, not by my choice, which was larger than I'm used to so that was nice. The view out the window was of another building but it didn't matter. I thought it was a really nice hotel with a pool table in a room off the lobby, oh and a 13th floor :)

  • 4/5 firebill88 7 months ago on Google
Handy location downtown, not too far from Busch Stadium. Service was very good. The hotel is old and has been remodeled downstairs, but the hallways and rooms are a little creepy. Feels very old, narrow hallways with low ceilings, low lighting. Door to the room stuck, so you had to mess with it. Room was just okay, but felt old and musty. Vents looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Room was cheaper than other hotels nearby, and it's obvious why that's the case.

Very bad experience. Paid $96 for valet parking just for my vehicle not to be fully turned off resulting in a dead battery. Sunday it’s check out time but we have to wait hours because their battery pack was not charged. They still were unable to charge it and the manager Adam was adamant that they were not responsible even though they left the vehicle on the whole weekend. He told me that he’s not a mechanic and it’s not their fault. Finally I had to call roadside assistance. I will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is itself beautiful. The staff was super nice but not very helpful. They didn’t have any cream for the coffee and one night we asked for lemons(there is a nice restaurant on the first floor) and we were told no sorry they couldn’t help. Room was nice but view was of all the AC units. It’s a quiet weekend for Christ sake give us a relatively good view. The toiletries were not replaced 😏….valet was 50 dollars a night. I expected it be a busy downtown because of the cost but it was the emptiest downtown I’ve ever been in. A travesty for the cost I think. Overall the hotel was nice and I think renovated because the building was older but it did look redone. Would stay here again if I had to. But might try another place out too. Haven’t had much luck with Marriott lately. Their Marriott or Marriott affiliate we’ve stayed at in the past 2 months. None of the facilities are what they used to be. And staff, despite being very nice(which in this day and age is appreciated), did the bare minimum.

Great location for downtown events! A Starbucks is up the street and a 🍕 calzone sandwich place adjoins. While a one-way street and tight parking, the valet team was stellar. Prompt in service and delivery. The room was very nice. I got upgraded to a suite. Very quiet, comfy beds, and nice furniture. The bathroom can stand some remodeling and housekeeping needs to really deep clean the shower and tub (markings were on the tiles that didn't come from me 😉). Anyhow, the precious of an ironing board plus iron was greatly appreciated as many hotels have moved away from that amenity. I also liked the historical charm of the hotel.

Very clean boutique hotel with impeccable service. I will definitely book here again. The location was great but the service and room were just perfect. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. I loved the bedding!

Our experience with the hotel started with an incredibly rude valet. We pulled up to the valet parking area and waited quite a long time. Which is understandable because it was late at night. When he finally came out, after staring at us through the hotel doors the entire time, he just stood outside of our car without so much as a word of greeting. The check in staff (and the bartender) were very nice which is the reason for two stars and not one. When we got to our room it was incredibly hot. We called the front desk since it was set to 54 with the ac in but it was 78 in the room. We also noticed that there were no bath towels in the room so we had to ask for those as well. One of the front desk staff came to look at the thermostat and essentially said there’s nothing that can be done since there’s no maintenance person in at night. We could move to a different room but by this time we were tired and just wanted to get into bed to sleep. I wish we had moved because by the time we woke up in the morning it was 82 in the room. I will say that the room was clean and the hotel lobby is beautiful. But we wouldn’t stay at the hotel again.

  • 2/5 Ash D. 2 years ago on Google
Dirty so I can't give it more than two stars. The staff was nice enough to love us rooms but the second room just confirmed there is only so much they were going to do to clean a room. We used points to buy our rooms so we didn't feel comfortable asking for a refund and going somewhere else, but the fact that we had to consider it should be telling.

The staff was very nice and helpful. I love the fact that my reservation included valet parking and breakfast buffet for two, made things simple and the buffet waffles were delicious. The lobby, restaurant, and room was very clean. Rooms were large and I love this place. I highly recommend this hotel, it has a special unique touch of class to it!

Staff was friendly but this hotel was dirty!! First room was filthy. Stained carpets crumbs on the couch, there was money on the floor clearly had not been properly cleaned. Asked for a new room, and that room was much smaller than the first room and much too crammed. So I decided to pay for an upgrade to the suite I already booked to see if that would help but that room was also not very clean. My 11 month old found and brought me an electric clipper thankfully she didn’t know how to turn it on, the thermostat in the living space was broken so my kids were freezing all night, by the 3rd move we were over it. Would not recommend. Building is cool but I’ve stayed in cleaner holiday inns than this hotel. I can say restaurant and staff were great. I feel like more could have been done to make up for our room situation though.

We stayed here while attending an event at the convention center which is a very short walk away. This hotel was clean and quiet, and the staff were helpful and courteous. I would stay again, however I wouldn't want the same room. Although we were "upgraded" to a suite the layout of the bathroom was awkward. This hotel does not have a self-parking option and the valet service seems a bit much, at the time of our stay just over $40 per day.

Front desk staff was extremely nice checking in and out. Room was very clean and smelled so good upon entry. It's the perfect central location downtown, yet tucked away (in a good way).

Pros-Desk check in was quick and easy. I asked for a soft top mattress because my wifes back was messed up. They hooked her up. Very comfy, shower had good pressure and hot water. Wifi and TVs worked excellent. Doormen/Valet were polite and helpful. Definatly going to stay here again. Cons- on site parking is 42.00 a night! Shower/Toilet has no exhaust fan. No microwave in room. They do have a microwave in the lobby, so its a short elevator ride. OVERALL, GREAT STAY, MIDDLE OF DOWNTOWN, WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING!

Had some issues with getting into our room. They wrote down the wrong room number on our keys, so when I got to the room with all the stuff while my partner was parking the car, I couldn't get in. I called the front desk from the phone by the elevators, and he was able to send me to the right room on a different floor. But the door handle was janky and even tho the room unlocked I couldn't get in. Called back to the desk to get help. Meanwhile I'm also trying to call my partner to tell him where to find me, bc he's on the wrong floor trying to get into the wrong room like I did. These are not what I'd call spacious rooms. The bed area is pretty tight. But for a single overnight, it's fine. We liked the couch area, tho, so we could watch tv while eating dinner. Just wish there were an option to log into Amazon Video, along with the other streaming services. The bathroom is VERY small. You have to shut the door to sit on the toilet or use the shower, and the TP is behind the door. Forget 2 people being in there at the same time. No exhaust fan either, so with the door closed it gets very steamy very fast. Only had 2 towels, which really isn't enough. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were squishy, and the coffee maker worked. All good things.

Excellent from the start! They gave a treat bag for both of our dogs. Had an area for them to relieve themselves super close by! Even had bags stocked on the trash can. Room was spacious & super nice. They have pretty much everything you need inside their hotel & are also centrally located! We will 100% return. Also I have to mention how absolutely friendly and helpful the guy at the front desk was.

The lobby and entire downstairs was very welcoming and beautiful. The hotel has such historic features, primarily seen in the rooms. Our room was very cute, I wish it felt more clean, there were handprint stains on the light switches and dusty areas. The bed was nice and comfortable and we slept great. The location is great, we were about a 15 minute walk from the arch and food and coffee was a block or so away. Staff was nice, helpful and the happy hour in the evening of cookies and milk for the kids was a huge plus!

Love the location! Everything was clean and as advertised. Check-in was a breeze - very kind gentleman at reception got us all set up quickly and without issue. Parking overnight in the Marriott garage ran about $40 but that's pretty typical for the area, and cheaper than other big cities. Sauce on the Side (calzone restaurant) had easy access directly from inside the hotel which was super convenient - great food too. The bar was nice to sit at and the bartender was pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to Busch Stadium. We loved how quiet and clean it was. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a pleasant stay in the downtown St. Louis area!

Valet staff was very kind and friendly; check in was easy! Talk about pet-friendly, they had a goodie bag for my dog. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable! Unfortunately, the nearby park/area to take dog had some unfriendly locals causing a ruckus. The hotel is not at fault for that but was unprepared for encounter in the park. Did I mention the bed was heavenly?

Great hotel! Our room was great. It was beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in a 2 queen bed suite. My one annoyance is that the french doors from the bedroom to the living area meant that my kids could see us in the living area when they were supposed to be going to sleep which may have delayed falling asleep. The lobby was nice. Staff very friendly-especially all of the valet staff and there was a wonderfully friendly lady who served us most days for breakfast (so sorry I can't recall her name). The location was fantastic! It's an easy walk to the baseball stadium, City Museum, Arch or Union Station.

The only bad thing was paying $48 for parking but they let me leave my car there until after the game so I didn't have to park again. I got a good deal on the room too so I can't complain. The room and service were excellent!

Thanks to Yanna. We had a terrific stay. She was informative, honest and helpful. She helped us with questions about restaurants, valet parking, and making our stay memorable.

I'm lifetime Elite and was given a room facing a light well and had lumpy pillows. Avoid and room that ends in 12. The staff was ok but the valets were the best. They even had the car waiting downstairs the next morning. I've stayed here a few times in the past, this will most likely be my last.

First time visit. It was quiet, the service was impeccable, at an off season great price point. The in-house dining and bar was hospitable, and alluring. A great place to meet with friends. Very recommend.
